"Standing in line for a packed air train, only to stand in another queue to refill the metrocard, in the only place on the system that doesn't accept contactless payment, I am pondering the endless NYC puzzle: what explains this level of incompetence? Are NY/C public workers so clueless, or is it run of the mill corruption? The A train does not run often from Howard beach, so I have another 10 minutes to contemplate this, surrounded by the pristine smell of urine welcoming me to the NYC subway"
This is both an AirTrain station which takes you into Kennedy airport as well as a subway station for the a subway line,. As to kellington I think it was Duke Ellington sang in his take the a train song a train goes from Harlem all the way down to the rockaways it's the longest single line subway line in New York city. The air train takes you into a loop around the airport and you can also switch and shoot up to Jamaica station there are two exits that you pay for one in Jamaica and one in Howard beach. If you're stuck at the airport because of the laser what have you and you have time to kill you can take the AirTrain to Howard Beach walk across the street to the rail bar and grill and have a few beers as well as get the sandwich or hero around the corner at Sal's deli Sal's market and or have Airbnb deliver something. Beers are one heck of a lot cheaper at the rail bar and grill ranging from pbr's as low as three bucks compare that to the airport at 12 bucks cuz you get in and out but if it's you in a couple of people you can buy a 10-trip pass which is usable by all of you getting in getting out for 25 bucks so it depends how much you want to drink.
The station is clean and orientation is easy. The bad thing is the confusing MetroCard vending machines. Some of them are out of order, some says "no bills", but when you try to pay by a credit card, they don't recognize it. If you want to buy a 7-day MetroCard, there are only two of them vending time cards, but you have to guess which two. When leaving NYC, charge your MetroCard with $5 for the AirTrain somewhere else, unless you enjoy waiting in lines for nonfunctional machines. Shame on you, MTA.

A very clean, wheelchair accessible, automatic train station. Connection available to the A train. Only issue: $5 entry and exit fare. Might seem like nothing to a traveler, but to someone who wants to get from the Rockaways to Jamaica ASAP it can hurt a little.
Nice station, the only complaint I had is that it's kind of confusing to get a metrocard on the airtrain side but then go through the turnstyle and buy subway fares. It's just odd that there are pay stations on both sides so you're not quite sure what to do.
Very easy to get to the station on the subway and easy to get from subway to the air train via the escalators. Takes metrocard. Good deal. About the same time as a taxi and only 7.75 in total (2.75 subway and 5 air train) compared to 50 for the taxi.
Clean and well-maintained station. From and to the JFK airport costs 5 USD one way (Oct 2017). The ticket machine takes no credit cards and you cannot buy a day-return ticket. However you get a smaller discount if u comes by airport
Metro News and Gifts Inc 2 - Sie verkaufen Ticket für Airtrein 1 $ teuerer.
PRO TIP: If you have a Metro card already, keep it and refill it for $5 to get on the Air Train - otherwise you’ll have to pay more. This station is one of the cleaner and less confusing ones.
Ridiculous to pay $9+ (including a new card fee) to ride an additional train. Even with a reduced rate card this fee still applies. Better off catching a car.
Tip! Buy a airtrain card for 10 trips for 25 USD. Can be used for 4 people at a time. That's much cheaper then buying individual tickets for 8 USD per trip.
Still no contact less payment, I hope you like getting in yet another pointless queue to buy a Metrocard after your international flight
They still DO NOT have OMNY at this station, instead you have to pay extra to buy a metro card, that’s ridiculous!!
They requested us to give a tip on metro cards. This is illegal in the US by the way.
Airtrain shuttle to and from JFK Airport. Quick ride.
Easy transfer to train to JFK terminals.
Nice station could use some cleaning
Clean and Service is good.
