I didn't want to write this review until we had taken our dog at least a few times. But we are very happy with this place! We have a male boxer that we took in when he was already 5 years old. The previous owners fed and provided him shelter, but never really routinely kept up with his shots or health or anything and didn't really socialize him to other dogs or people too much except for immediately family. So our dog was very timid and on guard when we took him in and we've put a lot of work into socializing and doing activities with others. It was something that has been very challenging and to be honest something we were scared of because we didn't want people thinking he was mean or turn the other direction when they saw him. I say all this because when we took him to this place, we were terrified and had no idea what to expect. I WAS BLOWN AWAY! They were amazing with him and kept us involved every step. These people showed compassion, confidence, competence, and love as if it were their own family member. They took the time to get to know us and our dog before doing anything and established a great trusting relationship with our dog and us. When we take him now, we have piece of mind and our dog feels comfortable there and not scared. You know they love what they do when they make all the cute sounds/noises and act silly with your dog like we do when we're at home :)

I have nothing but great things to say about Huebner oaks! After moving from out of town away from another vet we loved I was very anxious about finding another we would love just as much and they have exceeded my expectations! Starting their facility is very very clean and kept up. You can tell they actually clean the floors from doggie accidents, it’s not like walking into other vets and you’re hit with an overwhelming smell of urine. Second, and most important to me, my dogs have been so thoroughly taken care of. When my puppy was sick Lauren made sure I was brought in so he can be seen and treated, rather than making me wait and worry he didn’t get sicker at home. I could tell she truly cares about your animals just as much as you do. If they cannot see your dog they will offer recommendations to their sister vet offices that are still very reputable and will take the same care of your dog as they would. If you read their poor reviews, most of the complaints are price. I’m assuming those reviews are made by people who do not understand how expensive dog, puppies and cats can get. Even after taking a sick puppy in for treatment and medication, and having heart worm treatment options discussed for another dog, I can still say they are reasonable for the amount of care your animal gets. Lastly, we LOVE Dr. Liekie and her staff, especially Lauren!!!

I was so happy with their service when I first brought my fur baby to them for her series of shots and to be wormed. The girls who came to receive my fur baby were always courteous as well as informative of certain procedures. But today I wanted to set up an appointment for my fur baby to be spayed and was told she HAD TO get three more shots before they could spay her. Three shots I feel she doesn't need nor did I want her to have. Ive never bordered my pets nor do I allow them to drink rain water off the ground. After asking what my total pay would be, Kaitlyn sent me an estimate statement text of $625 for office visit, spaying and the 3 shots plus injection they would use to prepare my fur baby for spaying. I dont know what I'm going to do but will find someone who positively can help me!! Update 09/05/2020 Found reliable vet who was more for the love and care of my fur baby then my pocketbook! Everyone needs to pay attention to what your paying at this veterinary because they cant distinguish what tapeworms actually are from other worms and was giving her TriHeart Plus Blue which I was told was NOT for tapeworms which she had!

We unfortunately had to look for a new veterinarian due to she’s no longer practicing. Thankfully we found VitalPet. We took our 14-year-old beagle in for a dental cleaning and discovered he had many abscessed teeth. The tech took his time to show us the x-rays and explain why it was so important to extract his teeth. One of his k-9s was well on its way to destroying his sinus cavity. That gave us comfort knowing we did what’s best for his health and we look forward to seeing how he heals. We also had our 4 yr. old basset’s nails trimmed the same day. This was our last resort seeing we had tried three other places. She had to be slightly sedated but we feel comfortable taking her back monthly to keep her nails trimmed. Dr. Leckie and her staff have won our trust. My only complaint is we dropped them off at 7:30am and weren’t able to pick them up until 7:30pm. We’ve never experienced that long of a wait before. It’s not terrible and I’m sure that’s a bonus for most work schedules... In the end their care and attentiveness to our pups was worth it so it’s definitely something I can get used to.

This review is long overdue. In 2017 my dog Kingsbury went under anesthesia here and had a severely negative reaction to the sedatives, I don’t believe this was the fault of the vets caring for him and was simply an unpredictable complication. Dr. Zieben personally drove my dog to a 24 hour emergency clinic when it was clear my dog wasn’t going to recover soon and already past 7 pm at the clinic. He also made sure to communicate with the emergency staff what was going on. It was a very scary night, but thankfully my dog was okay in the end. They then called the next two days to check on his recovery. Everyone here went above and beyond all expectations to make sure my dog was okay. I moved away from the area about a year ago and have been struggling to find a new vet in my new location, the staff here set a very high bar. I’m forever grateful for the kindness and compassion they showed us then, and it sticks with me now. His more routine vet care was also wonderful here. They got him through everything from heartworms to nail trims. My dog is 5 and a half now and doing great.

A simple wellness exam & blood draw/urine/fecal test for my cat ended up taking 2 hours 45 min from scheduled appointment time to time leaving the office. 45 minutes were spent in the lobby, and about an hour was spent me and my cat alone in an exam room, wondering if the staff even knew we were there. Not to mention the fact that they took my cat back for much longer than I expected, considering the small amount of testing they said would happen. I would have minded a lot less if I had been told what was going on or how long things would take. Though, frankly, I would rather have my appointment rescheduled than have my cat sit in the carrier for 3 hours while I'm wondering where everyone was. The staff seemed knowledgeable, but very frazzled. The rooms are not sound proof at all, I could easily hear people talking all around, which is very upsetting considering some people were going through the loss of their pet. Also, it's been a week and I haven't gotten the results from any of the tests. I tried calling and was put on hold and then hung up on.

EDITED: 11/22/23 Save your money, time, and your dogs the stress and just go to MPC Veterinary Care down the road. The initial vet tech we worked with no longer works there. He was the reason we came back. Since going without him, our dog has become way more vet fearful to the point of aggression. We would get placed in the room, and as soon as one of the techs would come in he would retreat and get defensive. I have never seen him act like this upon just seeing someone enter a room. After that we encounter we never went back. We found MPC vet care and it was the best decision we made. They helped make our dog comfortable and we all learned the best ways to give him the least stressful experience at the vet. ‐------------ Vet tech staff (Damien) and vets are great. Front desk staff, meh, no apparent organization. Showed up for appointment and didn't get put into a room for another 45 minutes after scheduled time. People who came in after us were being put into rooms before us.

Dr Zieben is a very compassionate and caring veterinarian. My 15 1/2 year old dog, Penny, has had several chronic issues and she had been cared for by Dr Zieben. We knew she wouldn’t last much longer and the advice was to keep her happy and comfortable. The dreaded day finally came, with seizures and a stroke. Dr Zieben brought us in under short notice and gave all the time in his clinic we needed before we put her down. His assistant was also very compassionate and caring. They played soft music for us, and when we were ready, he gave her a sedative and then the euthanizing agent. She peacefully faded away. This was, by far, the most comfortable I have ever been putting a pet down, which has been several over the decades . Dr. Zieben even hugged my wife and I, as did his technician. They truly felt the loss themselves. Thank you Dr. Zieben and staff for making this as pleasant as possible. Your pets are very well cared for at Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital.

  • Charlotte Maher (Char-Char)

Dr. Sanders is awesome!! I will never be taking my pets back to this clinic simply because an employee there doesn't know how to treat animals, but all of the Vet Techs that work there are great and handle the pets as if they were there own. Steph and John were always there to listen and help with any questions I had while trying to learn more. I did enjoy some parts of working here, but it was not all butterflies and rainbows. Animals are and always have been my passion, so when things were not done properly while the animals were boarding would get me upset because clients trust the fact that we would treat their little loves as if they were our our own. Dr. Zieben and Dr. Lecky are also really good doctors. All 3 doctors were very educated and always had an answer for any medical question I may have had. Mrs. Linda, Crystal and Ashley are the nicest receptionist that I have ever worked with. Those ladies are super sweet and very easy to get along with.

My pug has been going here for years and is prescribed Apoquel for his allergies. It's always a pain to get this Vet office to approve refills at my pharmacy, we have to call several times usually. This past time I was told over the course of a week by numerous vet techs that they would get the vet to approve a refill, it never happened. Then when I finally did get someone that would do their job on the phone they informed me the prescribing vet was out for personal reasons for an unknown amount of time. They said I would have to pay $65 to have a different vet in their office evaluate my dog to get them to prescribe the same medication, even though my dog just had his annual recently. So their vets don't trust their colleagues diagnosis? They are fine for routine visits but if you have an animal that requires medications consistently I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere, this office doesn't seem to care about being prompt.

I am so grateful that I found this facility. We have 3 wonderful dogs and already had an established relationship with another Vet when I first came here. During the first visit (our regular Vet didn't have openings for a few days), our nervous boy dog was treated so well that I decided to take in our senior dog that frequents the Vet quite often. This is one of the best decisions I've ever made. After some blood work, Dr Zieben diagnosed her with Cushings Disease and she is now receiving appropriate treatment. I couldn't be more confident that she is receiving the best medial care. Dr Zieben and I have spoken on the phone several times at length, as he calls to check up on her and/or to explain lab results - totally above and beyond the level of service you might expect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital, every staff member that I have come across is professional and really seem to care about their patients.

I can not express in words how grateful I am for Vital Pet. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE their staff. They are all so amazing and caring. I have been taking my baby to doggy day care since September of 2018 and he now goes every day! Bexar knows when we're turning into the parking lot and automatically starts wagging his tail. The girls treat Bexar with so much love and kindness sometimes I think he'd rather go home with one of them than me. Thank you to all the girls, Mel, Ashley, Crystal, Jessica, Elsa, for taking care of my baby and giving him all the love possible at his home away from home. Aside from day care, their vet is absolutely wonderful as well. I had to take our Rottweiler for an emergency walk in and he was able to answer all of our questions and even gave us a call after hours to give us his test results. Hands down best care in San Antonio, best staff, best doggy day care, no questions asked. We love you guys!

I had my first experience with this vet hospital this past weekend. Our family had to make the difficult decision to put our beloved Rocky to rest after 18 yrs of friendship. From the initial phone call for information and throughout our difficult time this hospital was so compassionate, helpful, thoughtful and made the experience as painless as they could. They prepared a room for us to be with our beloved Rocky, they came in and talked with us about our life with Rocky and assured us we were doing the right thing. The doctor explained in details the process, what to expect and then gave us more time with our pet. Never once did they rush us for the room or push us out the door. We are extremely grateful for this wonderful team of animal lovers and highly recommend them to anyone who needs help with their animals. Thank you huebner oaks vet hospital for all that you did for Rocky and our family.

I've barely been coming here for 3 months and I love this place. I just left this veterinary hospital after rushing my dog in this morning after throwing up and experiencing lethargy. I was worried they wouldn't see me but they accommodated me and my dog. I was also worried I would not be able to afford the emergency treatment but it was pretty affordable considering my dog got fluids, shots, prescription food, and x rays done. Dr. Leckie has seen my dog all 3 times and takes the time to answer all of my questions and offers many options to best treat my dog. They also consult with you before any treatments so you don't get charged until they get your approval for them. I definitely recommend this veterinary hospital for any veterinary needs your pet. I have not tried the boarding or grooming services, but from what I have seen at the office, pet owners look content with their services.

We took our dog for vaccine update and had a lovely experience with Dr. Martinez. I am giving two stars because we decided to try their grooming and they are not transparent about their pricing. I was told at the vaccine appointment that it would cost 57 dollars. Since I was there for vaccines update, I did not expect that he would need MORE vaccines for grooming. The day I took him for grooming they charged an extra 42 dollars plus 15 for exam for an additional vaccine that my dog has never had before and was not required at other grooming establishments we have tried. They also told me it would be an extra marginal charge for anal glands and teeth brushing, for which they charged 29.50 and 13.50 respectively. I wound up being charged 180 total. Also, please note they kept my dog the ENTIRE day. 8 hours. I like his haircut, but unfortunately will be trying another groomer next time...

My best friend takes her half angel/half dog to this Vet Hospital and raves about it!!! I knew this would be the perfect place for me to bring my English Bulldog Bear. I just rehomed Bear and she is very overweight. I was very apprehensive that I was going to be fat shamed by the vet. Totally not the case. Dr.Sanders has incredible bed side manner and a way with animals. Bear does not leave my side but gravitated to Dr.Sanders right away. She really takes the time to answer your questions, provide you with great information, and make you feel comfortable. I had an amazing experience here. The vet techs are wonderful and very nurturing as well. They are affordable as well and do not try to upsell you on every little thing. They are focused on what is in the best interest of your animal and what they need. Go see Dr.Sanders she is incredible. You will not be disappointed!!!

Very strange how the perception of my dog has changed over the year. When I found Huebner Vet Clinic, I was very happy and excited to meet people who treated my dog with compassion and empathy. Yes, dogs can be aggressive day to day and I'm sure my dog can't be the only one that doesn't like the vet. However. It was very off putting having to muzzle my dog, which is one thing I can understand but how the staff reacted to him being nervous. Flinching as if attacked anyone at the clinic. Then being brought to the back to retrieve my own dog. Saying he's a different dog around me. What happened to people treating animals with compassion. Is that not against protocol? Again, up until this point the vet techs have been very nice to my dog. Saying how sweet he is, letting him hang out in the lobby because he was sad and wanted to be around people. What changed?

Fantastic veterinary experience. Dr. Jackson (the relief vet) basically brought our cat back from the brink of death. It was pricey but not as much as we feared it would be. Rachel the PM was especially kind as were the reception staff- they were very patient with me calling multiple times a day to check on our kitty. Dr. Leckie gave us great lay explanation for what was going on which helped us understand his illness. Great experience, I will be making this clinic our regular vet. edited to add: a few days later we had to take our cat back as he was having seizures- no words to express how grateful we are to Dr. Leckie for taking excellent care of him. She doesn't mind spending time making sure we understood every aspect possible of his complications. No matter what the outcome will be with him, she is an amazing vet and I can't recommend her enough.

Tried to make a same day appt on Yourgi because my dog had been shaking and moving gingerly for two days. Brought my dog in at 7am. The front desk person took the first person’s dog back and was gone for about 7 mins. When she came out, I told her I tried to make an appointment through Yourgi. Then she paused for a few seconds, never looking at me. I have clearly ruined her day with my concern for my pet. She finally asks, still not making eye contact, if I have an appointment. I told her it says pending. She all but scoffs and says that all I did was request an appointment and that there are no appointments available til next week. Fed up with the lack of compassion in this interaction I leave. Edit to add -my dog ended up having IVDD and now her back legs are completely paralyzed. Thanks again for your compassion and proactive care.

I have nothing but praise for Dr. Zieben and the entire staff at Huebner Oaks. Recently my darling William was very sick and I made the difficult decision to have him euthanized. I was not the only one in there who wept. The staff were very sympathetic and compassionate. William was a stray and right from day 1 he was very well cared for by both me and the staff. In the past when I have lost a dog, I have waited years until I felt ready to take on what in the end leads to heartbreak. This time, I waited only a few weeks. I adopted Rosie from the Humane Society. She had recently given birth to 9 puppies and she was both emaciated and sad. Today, she is a happy, loving and healthy dog who I know will live a long and happy life assured of the best of care from both myself and the wonderful staff at Huebner Oaks. Thank you all so much.

after my dog’s surgery he hasn’t been much for people he’s grown attached to me and is very protective. i’ve always been iffy who i bring him around and where i take him. he needed to be groomed and i knew i could trust hailey, she made it clear for my dog that things will be okay and just comfort him repeatedly. as she would walk by him she would talk to him to get him used to her voice by the time of his appointment, as his time came she got him out he was a bit nervous but eventually warmed up to her and was super sweet with her. that would have never happened if hailey didn’t have patience with him. hailey is someone who can be trusted with caring for your animal as if they are her own. if you need to get your fur baby taken care of and you are unsure who you want to work on your animals i whole heartedly recommend hailey.

I took my baby girl Karma in to see Dr. Zbun at Huebner Oaks veterinary Hospital yesterday right before they closed because she broke a nail. It was split all the way down the middle. And the doctor took such good care of her. I was having a really rough day and all of the staff and the doctor went out of their way to make me feel better. dr. Zbun even wrapped up Karmas little foot and decorated her bandage depicting her costume Harley Quinn. These people are amazing. I absolutely love them and I think that if anybody wants a really good veterinarian hospital they should go see them. Their prices are reasonable and they take really good care of my pets. Thank you Huebner Oaks best veterinarian hospital I love you!!! And Karma and LOKI love you too!!! ♥️❤️

Had an FIV+ cat who after a bout of fleas wasn't doing so good. He was lethargic and not himself. So I took him in. The visit was fairly quick given the covid precautions (ie, you don't go in with your furbaby) and the vet on duty Dxed my boy with a skin infection. No surprise, given the fleas and his fiv status. Anyway, he got treated for fleas and the infection. Total bill w/out the 6-pack of Revolution Plus flea treatments came to under $200, which is pretty good for most vets. I've been to some vets that are outrageous in what they charge, but not here. Anyway, the 6-pack of Rev'n Plus for fleas was over $100 but I blame the manufacturer for that. Anti-flea treatments have become outrageously expensive of late. Anyway, I can recommend this vet.

This office was able to see my 9 year old beagle terrier as a walk in, early one saturday, as she had a hot spot that grew out of control in a matter of 2 days. The staff there was super understanding and non judgmental. They were very thorough in their explanation of what was happening, and the steps needed to help my dog. They were gentle and caring in the treatment of my pup, who was very tender to the touch. Everything we needed to take care of this situation was provided. Grooming of the area around the hot spot, antibiotics, allergy medications, and E-cone. My dog is not suffering like she was before and I have to thank the staff here for that. I would recommend this vet hospital to any of my friends and their fur babies. Thank you!

I just realized I’ve been doing business with Dr. Zieben since he began his practice nearly 30 years ago when it was Colonies North. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Z. When I relocated to Austin, I did not know how to choose locally when I had to make that decision. It was not easy and it was not the same. Dr. Zieben is kind, caring, thorough and he will explain every detail to you so that you know what is important to your pet. He will never do anything without your knowledge so that you know what you are being charged for and his prices are very reasonable. After I was gone for 7 years, I am now extremely happy to say that he is my vet again. Thank you Dr. Z for you and your caring staff are THE BEST!! ❤️

  • Mr and Mrs DeLeon

We took our beloved Boston Terrier here when he was experiencing limpness and vomiting and convulsions. The staff was very attentive, and informative and treated our little dog son with the care you would want when they are helpless and ill. Their prices were insanely reasonable, and they didn't give off the vibe that they were there to poke our eyes out. When presenting his treatment plan we were ready to pay for everything and anything that would help our baby. They took the time to explain what I absolutely needed and the things that I could do without. Our dog is doing better and I cannot thank then enough. In the worst of times they made me feel like he was in good hands and I would absolutely use them again.

  • John

My 7 month old puppy got very I'll. I brought him in early one morning and my poor puppy had it coming out of both ends. The staff was quick to get our paperwork and file ready, as well as getting my puppy taking care of. We weren't really sure what he ate, but Dr. Leckie really added a personal touch by walking me through the process step-by-step and by educating me as we went. She showed a lot of concern while sharing her expertise, and I felt as if she and her staff treated my puppy like he was one of theirs! I've unfortunately had a bad experience with another vet where they were very impersonal and insensitive, so it's great to come to a vet like Dr. Leckie and her staff!

My kitty was not feeling well so I took him to Huebner Oaks veterinary hospital. Dr Zieban has been my vet for more than 20 yrs. He has a kind nature and my kitty, as well as past pets, feel comfortable with him. He always knows just what to do to get my pets to feeling better again. He never over recommends testing and treatments unless its necessary. I love the assistant John just as well and my kitty just loves him. I trust his knowledge and judgment. The staff is always efficient and friendly. I will always use Huebner Oaks veterinary hospital. I've recommended it to many friends and family who have become loyal customers. My kitty is feeling better already.

We have been going to Dr Zeiben or his partners since 1969. They are the best of vets. However, I recently took my dog in for grooming and turned her over to an employee. When I left the dog she had an expandable leash and a collar with name/address tags and a medical restrictions tag. When I picked her up I got the leash back but she was missing her collar and tags. The attendant stated that the dog had no collar when I brought the dog in and basically said "tough luck". Not only did I not get the collar back but the grooming/front desk employees implied that I was lying. Bottom line: the vets are great but I will get my grooming done elsewhere!

  • Irene Keller

My 2 yr. old Boston Terrier Bulldog (my Tasmanian Devil Wild Child), seems to love staying in his suite while I'm on vacation. The staff takes 24/7 care of him and when I say we're going to the Vet to stay a few days, he gets so excited I can barely put his harness and leash on him. I know he enjoys riding in the car; however, when we arrive at the Hospital, he absolutely goes nuts to go inside and see everyone. He loves the company and gives so many wet puppy kisses to the staff, no one need to bathe! They treat him so well I wouldn't go to any kennel to leave "Giz" as I know he would not get the attention the hospital staff gives him.

  • Francisco Cruz

This places selects who they want to see at their convenience after I had a scheduled an appointment days in advance. I rescued 5 pups and their mama and needed to get their exams and shots. I had already given them flea medication and got them on the right track as best as I could. I called Monday for Wednesday drop off. When I arrived, they said they would no longer be able to see them. I drove 30 minutes since my family had been a long time patron and thought I could trust them! We’ve literally spent thousands ($$) at this place with my other dogs and this is how I get treated. This place is an overpriced piece of u-know-what.

  • Yesica Ramirez

Had been going to this vet for 6yrs, my Ally was always fine so all routine shots etc. I would call and they would see her quick same day or next day no big deal. The 1 time I actually needed them to see her cause she didn't seem well, once they heard she was sick, they said they didn't have any appointments for 2-3 weeks and I just had to take her elsewhere or an emergency hospital. They won't be there when you actually need them, whats the point of having them as your vet. Save your fur babies and take them to someone who actually cares and will be there when needed, not only for routine checks and shots.

  • Casey Lee

All I can say is these people blew me away with their amazing service and how much they cared for my pet. There was little to no wait when we arrived. They thoroughly examined my pet and gave him what he needed. They were kind to him and very polite to me, as well, breaking down the problems he had and what we needed to do to care for them. What really blew me away was the fact that he went in his crate, and they took him into the back to clean him and the crate up before giving him back to me - something I have never seen other vets care to do. These people are awesome and I don't want to go anywhere else.

  • Zach Bellicini

I took a neighborhood cat in for an ear and GI issue. The administrative staff were all wonderful, super helpful and empathetic to the cat and myself. The vet seemed professional. I wasn’t prepared for the bill. I wish I could have had a better understanding of what each treatment was going to cost prior to accepting but overall I’d say they know their stuff and are very efficient. If I ever adopt an actual pet for my home I’d come back here. One more thing, they were very friendly about the financial questions I did ask and suggested the CareCredit card option without being too pushy.

  • Saloni Singh

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. I've had my cats seen by all 3 vets (there's a new third one, Dr. Sanders I believe). Before that, Dr. Zieben and Dr. Leckie have been amazing. It's clear that they are very knowledgeable and truly care about your animal's welfare. I trust them so much with all health issues for my cats. The staff is also very friendly. The clinic is well-equipped and very new-looking but all the people really make you feel at home. I've also used them for boarding on two different occasions and both times my pets were very well taken care of.

  • Duane S.

Fairly good experience for almost two years, then...found out the staff completed our dog's rabies certificate wrong (...no serial number or manufacturer information). They then charged us for a second vaccine to fix their mistake. No choice on our end, we were backed into a corner because it had to be done within 21 days of our moving. Other than this one issue, they are really one of the better vetrenarians we have ever used. Dr. Leckie gets a fifth star, she is very attentive and actually is responsible for letting us know what was needed for our relocation to begin with.

  • Carolina S.G.

This is one of the best Veterinary Hospitals I have ever been to. We are new to San Antonio and my 13 year old Shih tzu was very sick. It happened very quickly. On the morning when it got really bad I googled the closest Vet to my home and found Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital. They took us in immediately and were extremely compassionate. They took excellent care of of my little dog Pancho and made my husband and I feel at ease the entire time. I absolutely recommend this practice to anyone looking for the best and most friendly care and I commend them for being so amazing.

  • Levi

I took my 2 year old Chiweenie in for a general checkup and a vaccination update today and was blown away by the service we received. Mind you, I had never been here before and had only seen it in passing while driving. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, answered every question I had and offered great advice and tips. They treated my dog so gentle and gave him treats and love the entire time. On top of that, the prices were fantastic and the entire building was clean and adorable. If I wasn't moving out of state, I would make them my regular veterinarian clinic.

Dr. Lauren Leckie is the reason I started going to Huebner Oaks Vet Hospital. When I found out that both of my elderly dogs were in their last days I was sent to her and with her sound advice she kept them comfortable. alive and with us for a little over a year. I went another year with no dogs until this past April we purchased 2 dachshund puppies. She is now our vet for those two precious babies and will hopefully be their vet for life. Staff is wonderful, helpful and personable. I would recommend Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital to anyone looking for superior service.

  • Nisa Dunmyer

The staff is very nice. I brought my cat in as a walk-in, no appt. Fortunately they were able to work us in between patients with barely any wait time. She had a bad ear infection and when flushing out her ears took a little longer than they expected, they apologized to me for the wait, even though I didn't even have an appt. The doctor also took the time to make sure I understood everything that would happen treatment-wise. I would recommend Vital Pets on Huebner to any pet parent looking for a place to get great care for their furry babies.

Huebner Oaks Veterinary has had to radically change the way they do business due to Covid-19. Ironically, that has made my time investment more efficient. For grooming, I was able to fill out the form online, so no more having to take the time to do that at the desk. They retrieved Rosie directly from the car. When it came time to pick her up, I was able to pay over the phone before I even left to get her and then had a short wait in the car to have her delivered to me. I hope they keep this procedure for grooming appointments in the future.

I did not know Vet appointments could be so pleasant. I had grown accustomed to cold and harsh Vets and thought it was just protocol. I took my Maltese here for vaccines and the staff was so pleasant and friendly. There are other vets closer to me, but this place is worth the drive and my time. I had even had trouble with my card at checkout and they were so nice about it and patient while I resolved the matter. To top it off I heard Zelda music playing gently in the background, very nice touch. I am so grateful that I found this place

  • Tamara Medina

Everyone on staff was absolutely wonderful and really cared about my two babies! I had to find a vet willing and able to groom my 9 year old longhaired cat in a pinch due to some unexpected matts in her fur and they were able to care for her without sedation. They did so great with her that I trust them for all her future needs and am now taking her brother in for his preventative visits. The staff is calm, quiet and loving toward both of my cats and they answer any and all my questions. I know that they love each pet that comes into them.

  • Victor Aguilar

This was my first visit to VitalPet and found the front staff, the technicians and the doctors were really friendly I was in the exam room when my dog was examined and the doctor was gentle with her and reassured my pet while she examined her. Dr Sander was knowledgeable and understanding of my situation. Her gentle touch with my pet made me feel that I made the right decision taking my pet to VitalPet. I will fully recommend this place and highly regard this facility. Thank you VitalPet for making a great first impression.

  • Cassandra Grindrod

I've been coming here for years and feel like they really care. They always take the time to talk to me and explain what we're doing and if necessary the best course of action, without making me feel pressured. We typically see Dr. Leckie and she is absolutely the best, kindest person and veterinarian I've ever worked with. Dr. Z is great as well, when we've had the chance to meet with him. The Techs are also great and very knowledgeable. I could not recommend this practice any higher! I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

  • Melissa Perry

My cat had a dental cleaning and extractions! The protocols for COVID they had in place were great! The vet himself called us twice to let us know how our cat was doing and explained things so well. He was thorough and patient to answer my questions. My cat is recovering well. I know he was in good hands! They even laundered his blanket in his crate that he soiled during the car ride due to anxiety. And I found this certificate in his post op bag! Such a nice touch! I’m one happy cat mom seeing my baby doing better!

  • Lauren

My cat had to be hospitalized and VitalPet was significantly cheaper than the other vet office I got a quote from. The staff and veterinarians were very friendly and helpful, I was always able to talk to someone over the phone to answer questions during and after my cat's hospitalization. I received a follow-up call from the staff after my cat came home, checking to see how he was doing. It is really nice that they make time to follow up despite them being a busy hospital. Overall, it was a great experience.

  • Drew

Not happy with this clinic. I've left 4 voicemails since Monday. Today is Wednesday. My elderly cat has a UTI and had been suffering. But if you know about feline uti's cats pee excessively all over the house, cry in pain and other symptoms. I'm not happy because if I had gotten a call back Monday... I wouldn't have to wait till Thursday to see my cat suffer. So if you truly care about your elderly animal I'm not sure this is your vet. Update 6/8/23: I'll be changing clinics now. I do not recommend.

  • Pawzi Art

I brought my sick dog here because I live right across the street and I feel like they really cared about the well being of my pet and they work with you on what you can afford. For non emergencies I was able to make next day/same day appointments. They ask a lot of questions about your pet and when they assessed my dog they gave me lots of feedback so I didn’t feel like I was in the dark about her health. Also the girl with the blue hair is literally the sweetest person ever.

  • Jordin Duffy

I went in last night an hour and a half before closing, freaked out about my baby being sick. The staff was absolutely amazing. I always dreaded going to the vet, but this experience has completely changed my views. I loved the way that they explained everything, and were so thorough in taking care of my girl. While we were there, closing time happened and I wasn’t made to feel rushed out, or like they were rushing on taking care of my baby. Best vet experience I’ve ever had.

  • Carole Hardin-Oliver

We have taken all of our dogs and cats to to Vital Pets and they are wonderful! We are treated with respect and care. Our pets are consistently helped and healthy. They have handled everything from a very long and lingering illness with our cat to the everyday flu shot for our dog. I especially appreciate the Veterinarians always discussing the options for treatment for each issue. They do not judge my choice but fully support me and my pets with outstanding care. Thank you.

  • LINDI BARNES CONRAD

I had been going to Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital for at least 13 years and only left due to getting a third dog and needed a wellness care plan. For what I saved in the plan did not make up for the constant issues I had in getting an appointment when I needed one. I went back to HOVH because the care and the availability are totally worth it and their staff and technicians are very friendly I love Dr. Zieben but all the doctors are amazing. I'm back to stay.

  • Matt The Outcast

This is by far the best place to take your pet. My buddy is dropped off in the morning, she gets a bath and groomed. Sometime I just take her to their doggy day care so she doesn’t have to stay home alone and has others to play with. They have their very own doggy play park, that is cleaned and sanitized every evening. The staff is always friendly, helpful and truly care about the pets there. If you really care for your pet you need to check their place out.

  • Lawrence Stevens

We have had our young Corgi mix in to see Dr. Sanders on several occasions, most recently today, and I can only say that Dr. Sanders is most professional, kind and sympathetic. She is obviously very competent and takes her time in both diagnostics and explaining results and options for treatment. Also, her Vet Tech Andi was great - caring and a good sense of humor. Both my wife and I feel fortunate to have this facility close by and intend to keep returning.

  • Tacho Man

Beware of the ripoff pricing. They were fine as far as service, and the vet was cool. But they said they’d email the quote for a male cat neuter and then to call and schedule. The quoted price? $700. I’ve had multiple pets and at good vets, the price was around $200 or less, every time. If you have more money than sense, sure go here. But if you respect the value of your dollar, you can get quality pet care and not be ripped off somewhere else.

  • Christopher De Leon

35 minutes after our appointment just sitting in the intake room before we vet tech saw us. The vet was supposed to be “right in” to talk with us, but that took another 30 minutes. They still hadn’t done the procedure that we already agreed to with the tech. The vet said it’s be another 10 minutes. Ended up only being 13 minutes Oh, and took another 10 minutes to check out. Simple appointment cost us an hour and a half of our day.

  • Zach Schramm

Great experience! My wife and I were able to get an appointment, the same day, to get a wellness check on a cat that we saved from her workplace. Dr. Leckie was extremely polite and caring, as well as the technicians, and everyone explained any and all concerns and processes involved in the suggested treatments for our new buddy. We'll be happy to bring our business to Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital whenever the need arises.

  • ERICA Gomez

I can't thank the doctor and his team enough for taking care of my baby kitten. She was in bad shape and I was scared to lose her. The doctor was very patient and answered every question I asked. I felt reassured and the prices were reasonable. Everyone was so kind. The team truly care about their customers and the furbabies. The technician took her time to show me how to give the medication to my kitty. I will be back again.

  • Miranda Pyles

All of the staff were friendly and professional, and I had a wonderful experience. As a new pet parent, I was a little nervous about how smoothly things would go. The vet nurses politely educated us about all of our care options, so I felt confident and well-informed in our decisions. You can tell that everyone there truly loves animals and wants to provide the best care to your pets like they're their own.

  • John Villarreal

I would like to say that as a pet owner there are many responsibilities you must be ready to take on. Your new member of the family needs to have a great vet and staff to help in their health. Huebner Oaks Veterinary is absolutely GREAT!!! The staff and Dr. Love their jobs. And they absolutely love animals. If you are looking for a veterinarian and medical home for your pet? This is the plan e for you.

  • Christy Zinn

I LOVE Dr. Lecke and the staff. They are very warm, friendly and caring... My only wish is that the check out process would be more efficient. When you're there with a sick pet that doesn't feel good, all I want to do is just get in and out and get them home as quickly as possible where they're more comfortable. Going to the vet seems to always be a 2- hour, or more, process...

  • Olivia Lawson

Jessica at the front desk is always so kind and nice to talk to, everyone is very nice here. I have been taking my 2 cats to Huebner Oaks for almost 2 years now. I am very happy with the care they have received. I trust Dr. Zieben and appreciate that he is kind to my cats and takes time to answer my concerns and provides me with helpful literature. Thank you for all you do

  • Laurie Martinez

The doctors and staff at Huebenthal Oaks Veterinary Hospital continually display compassion for their clients and their pets. They have been caring for our pets for many years now. A genuine concern and caring is what you will find there. They walk with you In good times and talk with you in bad times. Having them care for our pets has been nothing short of a blessing.

  • Brooklyn C

My cat was very stressed out (being brought to a vet’s office and all), but the vets here were very helpful in making him feel comfortable! They even wrapped him in a towel and pet him the entirety of the visit. I swear by mid-visit, my cat was no longer stressed and was even enjoying himself, and loving the extra attention. I highly recommend this vet’s office!

  • Cristine Yesenia

Had our first experience here at Huebner Oaks. We are very happy with how they treated our 17 year old dachshund. They were able to fit us in for a last minute urgent examination. The Doctor & his assistant were extremely thorough, gentle, caring, and transparent about a necessary treatment plan. We will certainly be back again for any of our family pet needs.

  • John Bernal

They took such great care of my cat "bee"!!!!! They got her in very quickly, treated her for an ear infection, took care of her shots and trimmed her paws. The staff is so wonderful and caring!!!! Their prices are also very affordable. We will not go anywhere else from now on. Our pets definitely have new veterinarians. Our thanks to the dr's and staff.

  • grace riggins

I have been bringing my pets to Dr Zieben since 1996 and would not go anywhere else. He and the staff are caring, profession and really care. Recently my Roxie had to have surgery and I was very happy with her service and outcome. I was not nervous because I know she was in excellent hands. I highly recommend this veterinarian office. Theresa Riggins

  • Marion White

I love Dr Leckie! She is the greatest! She is so good with our Rhodesian Ridgeback that I cannot imagine any one not being very pleased with her handling of their pets. The techs who help the vet are very good with my dog as well. Very gentle, very sweet, very competent! I highly recommend this vet to anyone looking for a veterinarian for their pet.

  • Philip Lambert

Staff is excellent. We take our dog there for all his vet needs, as well as for doggy daycare. They have a 7am-6PM M-F dog care with live feeds so you can watch your puppy throughout the day. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants to give their pet a fun day. They also have puppy paw painting, picture day, and the staff is excellent with dogs.

  • Katelyn Darling

Originally I was taking my cat here for his annual exams, so when I got my puppy I knew I would take her here. I trust Vital Pet Huebner completely. They’re always honest with me and I can tell how much they genuinely care for my animals. I have had the best experience and recommend them to everyone. Doggy day camp is so fun, my pup loves going!

  • Alyssa Boman

I have called over the past 3 days requesting records for my pet, I have not heard back from anyone despite multiple voicemails being left. Additionally, every time you have an appointment, you will wait an excessive amount of time prior to being assisted and an even longer amount of time waiting for a vet to actually see you. Do not go here.

  • Jilly Beans

The staff is amazing, very friendly. I had to travel for work needed to board my dog. They answered a lot of my concerns. I never use them before, going forward this will be his place to stay. Now the groomer I use for the first time not too please with his cut. His cut was butchered. Overall great Veterinarian good doctors.

  • Gary Johnson

Have been taking my pet here for only about a year. The only real complaint I have is their phone lines are too easy to overwhelm; it's not uncommon to call and not even be able to get placed on-hold. Dr care has been good through normal checkups as well as a significant surgery. Pricing is more than fair and reasonable.

  • Caitlyn Fredieu

My dog needed to see someone about his ear immediately and they made sure to fit him into their busy schedule and were so nice and helpful! My dog hates the vet and enjoyed the attention he was getting from the nice workers there!! Definitely making this my go to vet from now on! Thank you for taking care of my baby!

  • Paula Felix

If you live anywhere near VitalPet, GO. They’re amazing! All of their technicians and vets are super thorough. We just brought our kitties and they dotted and loved them so well. On track to zero fleas, and the experience was great. They even have us a sample of Hills cat food to try out with them. Above and beyond!

  • Shelby Gabrielson

VitalPet Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital goes above and beyond! The entire staff is friendly, courteous, compassionate, and highly skilled. The office runs smoothly and efficiently. I know when I bring my pet to VitalPet Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital they are receiving the best care and at an affordable price.

  • talk to me

The staff are friendly and helpful. The doctors are very professional and informative. I can easily always stop in on my way home and pick up my dog's medication. And now it looks like they're going to start offering doggy day care! That's so cool cuz there aren't a lot of options like that in this part of town!

  • Kristin Altwegg

The office staff is very friendly. The vet I saw is hands down awesome. She’s was attentive friendly conversational and had no problem meeting me at my level of understanding and moving me through my pets care moving forward. I will definitely taking my fur-kid back to her for his normal and preventative care.

  • Sylvia N

I been with them for years and they are the best. I just recently had an emergency with my dog and they saw us without appointment. But most of all I trust them, they are super friendly and so kind with my dog. They really understand our pets are part of our family. I always know my dog gets the best care.

  • Paige Acosta

I’ve been taking every single dog I’ve ever had since I was younger with my mom, and now I take my German Shepherd there and they have always been so nice. They’re welcoming, they know your pet right when you walk in and are excited to see them. My dog has always been comfortable there and so have I!

  • Kristin Wells

I appreciate everyone at Vital Pet Huebner Oaks so much! The vets are extremely compassionate and knowledgeable. Particular shout out to Dr. Martinez! The vet techs are as well! Front office is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend these wonderful people! Our four pups are well cared for!

  • Jennifer Mendez

I was referred to this vet by a friend. My fur baby had gotten sick and I was a little hesitant to take her in because she's can be a very anxious dog at times. But everyone a VitalPet was so friendly and gentle. They really helped a to put her and ME at ease!! I definitely found my new vet!

  • Abigail Holland

The staff is wonderful as are the Vets themselves! Everyone is so kind to my dog! After getting vaccines my dog wasn’t feeling well later that evening. I was able to call and speak directly with the vet, and they even called me 2 hours later just to check on my dog and see how he was doing!

  • Keri Daggett

We happened upon this clinic 10 years ago when we had an emergency with our 12 week old puppy. We now have two dogs and have been going here ever since for wellness exams, nail trims and the occasional ear or eye infection. Dr Leckey and Dr. Zieben have always been wonderful to our family.

  • zachrey hernandez

Simple appointment was almost there for 2 hours, mean while , they want to charge you an arm and a leg for every small thing that wasn’t necessary for the appointment, mean while the staff will watch you stand at the front desk not helping you for a checkout that takes less than 30 seconds

  • Peter Garza

The staff is always SO FRIENDLY. They even saw me last minute when I mixed up my appointment days. They are very kind and do a great job explaining the situation with your pet. My dog has primarily seen Dr Leckie but we’ve also seen another vet on Saturday and I couldn’t be happier! ☺️

  • Marlen Martinez

If your dog has an abscess, a ball is not the clinic that can help you. I went with my dog bleeding and he came out in the same condition. They don't call to check if the dog did well with the medicine like other clinics do and they don't even give the call for the test results.

  • Kita T

I have 2 yorkies and they take good care of them. One of my yorkies has anxiety issues and they went above and beyond to make him feel safe. They also contacted me to keep me up to date. I love the professionalism, friendliness, prices and the best groomer in town, Eve!!!!!

  • LJO

Dr. Zieben is the most caring and patient vet I have ever met. He truly cares for his patients and explains everything in great detail. I found him after looking up vets in my area and he had the best reviews and now I can see why. We will be his patients until he retires!

  • Sean Peake

We had a new pet visit scheduled in just a few days. The techs and vet were very nice and thorough. We were seen right at our appointment time, the facility was clean, and the waiting area was comfortable. We are excited to have found a great vet so close to our new home!

  • Christiana Desarno

Overpriced with suboptimal care and customer service. Front desk never answers the phones or call back and is horrible at communicating and tasking. I feel like my dog suffered when I switched over to this vet because refills for her pain medication were so hard to get.

  • Wesley Drew

The details are long but if you need prescriptions for your pet be aware its very difficult here. There's always something wit this clinic. Im going to look for a new Vet. Now there's a pill splitting fee. (First time I've been told that after 4 prescription refill.)

  • Maximilian Hamill

Thanks to the amazing and professional staff at this clinic, they expertly handled my cat for a blood draw, despite her being extra fussy. They got the job done quickly and efficiently, looking forward to bringing my other two in for their check-ups.

  • Emily Rose

I’ve brought my dog here for the past ten years. We started coming when my dog was young and had fear issues. They were so kind and patient. And now that she’s a fragile old lady they are still so kind and patient with her. Always a good experience.

  • Diana Pretre Torres

If you're looking for a great vet, this is it. The entire staff was friendly and made me feel so welcome. Crystal, the groomer, was so patient and did an amazing job at making my fur baby look her best. Their compassion and care truly shines!

  • Sergio Nava

I was considered a walk-in so they had me waiting in between appointment, which wasn’t too bad considering all of the vets in San Antonio were booked for 3 days and I had an emergency. They were very informative and very nice staff overall.

  • Olivia Gomez

Well I guess no one that works there knows how to answer a phone. Mercedes used to be the receptionist there & she was super chill, very good at her little job. Since she left, the phone never gets answered. So good luck trying to make an

  • Lorena Thompson

Ok I followed Dr. Leckie from Lincoln heights animal hospital to this place and I'm glad I did. She's THOROUGH. So any vet visit is an arm and leg pricey but she explains things well enough to me that I feel like I know why I paid what I

The was our first time visiting this veterinarian clinic. We have not been happy with the last few vets, so we were looking for one we liked and could trust. We were very happy with Huebner Oaks Veterinary Hospital. The staff were very
