I feel like an avid book lover will definitely find better used book deals around the city. I already know this for myself. The store is definitely nice, I really loved the way they shelved their books, and there’s a cozy touch to the space. Cashier didn’t even speak to my boyfriend and I when we walked in. Not used to that energy in an independent bookshop, but I didn’t care to entertain her so I let her stay miserable. Books are way overpriced for the quality give or take a few. They do have quite a large selection, though. I’ll definitely leave this shop to the hipster locals in the area, definitely their vibe.

Great selection of classics and books you haven't heard of, in a cozy warm atmosphere that reminds me of my favorite used bookstores in Seattle. We went to find a book for a friend. Friendly place that I would be comfortable in spending most of the day to explore, with nice classical music in the background. It's a tight space, but there are plenty of places to find a nook and discover a new title to read. A welcome respite from the unfriendly-seeming hipstery street outside!

This book shoppe is truly a treasure trove for the literary minded with a broad selection of books both large and small. Lovely, friendly, distant and knowledgeable staff. Great tunes spinning on the platter. No musty old paperback odours. High ceilings. Trippy, casual, non-sequential vibes. You'll walk in knowing what you want and walk out disoriented, feint, still hungry yet oddly satisfied (not like Mick Jagger).

This is the best bookstore in the area. No frilly cafe to draw people in, just a plethora of interesting books. The largest used book collection I've come across in the area with very interesting material. Books here can be a bit pricey but the content is worth it. The staff here is also top notch. Very knowledge and ridiculously friendly. I spent over an hour here with out realizing.

Went there a few times and the owner was great, they offered really good books. Went back recently and found the prices to be absurd, especially given many of the books are used. I found it hysterical that a bookstore with so much anti capitalist material somehow failed to see the irony in selling these said books for $25+. I feel bad leaving this review but the prices were insane.

I for one hate to throw away books, and i took the time to bring a few of my books for free (as a donation) and the lady at the counter did not even greet me with a smile her demeanor was very unpleasant. She just said " no i cant take these".... she didnt even explain why.

Excellent shop. From the same cooperative owners of Book Thug Nation on N3rd in Williamsburg. Specializing here in literature, poetry, foreign language, science fiction, philosophy, radical politics, history, pulp, etc. Great vibes and always interesting finds.

  • I Tornaghi

Excellent bookstore, good selection of books in Portuguese and Spanish as well as translated BraSilian Spanish authors. Not to mention everything else. Amazing selection of comics. They also edit some really good stuff. Excellent on all counts!

  • Adati Tarfa

The bookstore is hard to miss on Fulton, has a vast selection of books and is truly an independent bookstore. It is small so no sitting tea but holds a ton of books and you will enjoy the feel of being in a cozy bookstore.

  • Kee Nash

Doesn’t have a phone number listed anywhere. I went two days in a row because they said they buy books and both days wouldn’t purchase any of my books even though they’re in great condition. Also the store hours are a lie.

I go into this place with a list and usually walk out with everything I wanted! The prices are fair considering the amazing selection of (mostly) used and new books. The owners are really nice and helpful as well!

  • Luis Ortiz

GREAT selection and prices on Classics and Poetry especially. In its own way, beats the Strand with quality...meaning it's a smaller place, but you have to weed through less to get to the quality stuff.

  • Sophie Guimaraes

Such a gem, wish I've known about this for years. The selection is killer, especially for graphic novels and foreign language books. I even got a graphic novel in Portuguese! 10/10 coming back

  • Lindsay Mathews

Great bookstore for fiction and non-fiction. I wish they would either list a phone number or post when they are actually closed during posted hours. But otherwise love everything about it.

  • Dan Gorry

This place will likely have whatever book you're looking for, but it's a tad more expensive than its neighborly competitors. The staff are also super friendly and make great conversation

Truly one of the most extraordinary bookstores in NYC. The number of rare gems per square foot is hard to beat—what a selection. Great vibe (and the music is always perfect, too).

Great selection of gently used books with some new offerings from contemporary authors as well. The staff is knowledgeable and there’s a Spanish Language section as well.

easy to pass by, but a little shop of wonders lies within. $ books outside are good, as is the small talk with the employees/proprietors. gem of a local business :)
