I was so excited to have found IVS as an alternative to Corley’s Volvo, especially after reading all the great reviews. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive the same service at my appointment. When I scheduled service, I stated I needed an oil change, front and rear wipers replaced, and wanted an inspection (to see if the recommendations were the same as Corley’s). I had to reschedule my original appointment, but they were super accommodating. When rescheduling, I again confirmed it was an oil change, front and rear wiper replacement, and the inspection. She confirmed. When I dropped my Volvo off this morning, I again confirmed — oil change, front and rear wiper replacement, and inspection — and the lady at the front, again, confirmed. When I picked it up at 5, and my total was only $150, I asked if they replaced the wipers. They didn’t. She said “it looks like we needed your approval because they are $100.” They had my car for 9 hours, why did no one call to ask for my approval? Or maybe assume me asking for them to be replaced was me giving my approval?! I was given the option to pre-pay for them, then swing by when they came in. They did have about $10,000 worth of recommendation for service, which included REPLACING THE WIPERS! *face palm* For what it’s worth, the oil change was a reasonable price and the older, bearded gentleman was super nice when I dropped my car off.
Excellent results! I've always wanted to have my car polished, but are few places around that know how to work with car paint without doing more harm than good. IVS detailers are experts because they use the right tools the right way. I bought a gently used car (Ford Edge ST, 2019) and brought it in to have the paint corrected and enhanced: I wanted to remove haze and micro marring that was harming the overall look. Well, IVS MADE MY PAINT PRISTINE. The light reflects so cleanly off of it, and the metallic flake looks insanely good now. IVS cares about the paint, they will preserve as much as clearcoat as possible while removing micro scratches and haze. They even polished the shiny plastic trim on the door frame. Talk about getting your car to hold as much value as possible. Daniel (owner / operator) and his team took excellent care of the whole experience. From the initial consultation, quote, correction, polishing, and ceramic protecant, they nailed it. IVS will give you exactly what you are looking for without cutting corners. Support a local business who is trained in the art of car restoration and protection --it is so worth it, and the finished product is the proof. The best part is, getting it done right now will make it so much easier to keep the car looking good in the future, even when monsoon season hits.
DO not take your vehicle to IVS for Paint Protection Film (PPF) they do not know how to install the film. They left multiple scratches on my vehicle. Be careful this business claims that they can install paint protection film (ppf). I left my 2021 Corvette with Independent Vehicle Service for two weeks after they originally indicated it would be done within a week. When I was able to pickup up the car, edges of the ppf were already peeling/not adhering properly. Additional there were bubbles in the film and dirt trapped under the film. I was even told that the two installers they have, we're having trouble with the creases and angles of the body. As I was requesting a refund and for them to remove the ppf. A Tesla owner came up to me and said that they were having the same problems with the ppf on their car. I took my car to another shop and they discovered that the IVS installers scratched the car in several places.
10/10 Do not recommend. I've been taking my cars here for close to 10 years and until recently, would sware by them. However, the new service writers lack experience and knowledge of basic car functions and do not write up the tickets correctly for the service department. Not only has that been an issue, the front desk care is lacking. My last experience will have me seeking out a new mechanic shop. 6 hours of my time completely wasted car never looked at, service ticket was written up for a service I did not request. No diagnostic received. Was hung up on, called back, spoken over and when I requested an Uber to return to my vehicle it was ordered and spitefully canceled. I've never had this kind of experience anywhere else. Although the mechanics do an excellent job 80% of the time. Because of the blonde at the front desk. I won't ever return. I guess they are too good for my money.
2023 UPDATE: I moved to FL in 2021 and my partner was finally able to join me this year. At the last minute, we realized we needed to get his car serviced before the drive to FL. I called on IVS and they (if this is even possible) were even more amazing than when I lived here! Their service is spectacular and I trust them explicitly. Elisa was wonderful to work with. I cannot more highly recommend an auto service provider. 2021 - The folks at IVS are incredibly friendly and professional. The service technicians are top-notch ... frankly, better than the dealership and their prices don’t hurt as much as the dealership. All around, you can’t beat IVS for customer service, professionalism, quality and cost. I wouldn’t take my Volvo anywhere else...
If you feel as passionately about your car as I feel about my 1984 Volvo ("Stella") then you really need to bring your ride to the friendly people at Independent Vehicle Service. Whether it's the solenoid of your overdrive that needs to be replaced, or that wiring harness you bought on Ebay for $75 on Superbowl Sunday that needs to be installed, or even that wining differential that is driving you crazy, "IVS" is always up to the task. Just last week IVS brought my A/C back to life, after tracking down a rare part for it from Sweden! Now you could use that car as a meat locker, I kid you not. But don't take my word for it, jump into your collector classic and introduce yourself to the boys at IVS, and tell them Chuck sent you!
My family has been taking our vehicles to IVS for years and I am so grateful to have them to fall back on when something is wrong with my car, and for just general maintenance as well. Their staff is so friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Their prices are fair and they will go out of their way to get the best parts at the best price. They also warranty anything they can - they even warrantied my clutch when the dealership tried to pin a recall repair on me instead of admitting their failure. I recommend IVS to everyone I know. They are a business that I’ll go to for all of my car needs for a lifetime of services and maintenance. Five stars all the way!
Summer 2020 - IVS responded immediately to my call about the Check Engine light, got me in for the diagnostic and did the repair all within one day. They also gave me a ride home from my drop off and back to pick up my car. Great service, great attitude. January 2021 - IVS got me the best price for replacing my rear hatch lift struts, got me in for the service, gave me a lift home and then delivered the car back to my house (!) early enough in the day for me to do my errands. They even provided a free car wash! On top of their professional diagnostics and service, best of all is the staff's great attitude and kindness.
Brought my Audi in for warranty work to replace or find leaking antifreeze. They replaced it once before.. My regular mechanic put dye in and was able to determine it was the water pump. IVS could not find the leak and I continue to have to top off the antifreeze every other day. I will give them another chance to fix it. Will give update. Took my Audi back and they replaced the water pump under warranty. So far so good. Whoever test drove the car left clues they did a spirited drive. Grateful for the work which is a heck of a job.
The check engine light came on my 2006 Chevy Colorado. I took it to another mechanic and later to the Chevy dealership neither were able to diagnose my problem. IVS was not only able to diagnose and repair my problems they also found the appropriate parts the dealer said they did not make anymore. I was recommended to them 4 separate times before I brought it in. Elisa and Michael were a pleasure to work with. Don’t hesitate they are a top notch shop.
Attentive and friendly Technicians. Superb attention to detail. Unusual customer waiting room in old adobe building across the street. Great price for oil change using Castrol products (except for the $51 oil filter which can be purchased through Amazon for $17). Follow-up phone call by Technician was unusual and demonstrated superior dedication to quality control and customer service.
Just picked up my 240DL from IVS after having a “no start” problem. After diagnosing some electronics and relays as the culprit, quickly worked to get her back on the road again. They returned my baby to me freshly washed and she runs smooth and starts up easy! This will be my go to shop for ABQ, and I would recommend to anyone looking for dependable honest Volvo service!
Our family has been taking vehicles there for years, but recently I have been considering going elsewhere. Nothing egregious...but for the cost (higher than a dealership), I find the service lacking. From unpleasant and hurried customer service on the phone to having to return a vehicle because the computer wasn't reset after an oil change, it just doesn't feel worth it.
We have worked with IVS for many years, with 4 different cars. They have always been honest and professional. Their integrity is without parallel. We are moving out of state, and these folks are one of the things we will really miss about Albuquerque. Their work and high standards of service have always been the best.
They fixed what others couldn’t. I really like how they communicate and breakdown what needs repairing, why, how and also things to keep an eye on. The interaction and work was very thorough, clear and no hassles to either green light or table for later. They’ll be my ABQ mechanic from here on out.
Michael and his team have done a bunch of stuff for me in both ppf and ceramic and just do an incredible job. They always go above and beyond to get invested in the vehicles they're working on and have impeccable customer service. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Showed up on Friday around 10 with our Rialta motorhome. It's a VW Eurovan. No appointment, but they got us right and did the diagnosis. Needed bushings on the front, so they had to be ordered. The VW dealer and 2 recommended places wouldn't even look at it.
Wow, this place was awesome: I’m in from out of town and needed my 2017 Volvo checked out and they got it in and turned around in a matter of hours. Really clear communication and friendly service. This is why I go to independent shops over dealers.
Responded timely to my needs, were honest and reliable although my initial doubts at the beginning, I would recommend them to everyone. They won't let you spend money if you don't need too.
