I mistakenly reviewed “Intercape bus station” as the bus depo. The bus depo specifically is Not a very comfortable place at all. Best to get in and out asap. And check your pockets and luggage and don’t trust random people who offer you lifts. The only way in and out of the bus station is through a narrow passage of squalor, beggars, harassers and gangsters. The main parking available is the taxi rank which is very dangerous for anything tourist or people who are above the bread living standard. The other parking is at the back of the bus station in a narrow packed street. There are no official porters and only opportunist beggars offering to carry your luggage and then charge an arm and leg for it. No linking bus station close by and not proper taxi of shuttle service. Although it is next to the train station. But the trains take you to hell… As for Intercape. Awesome service at a super cheap price! They also uplift God as a company. I have a lot of respect for them. Any discomfort on the bus is irrelevant compared to price, efficiency and the much needed pinpoint pit stops. Traveled all the way to Windhoek and back to Cape Town.

The chaos at Cape Town Intercape boarding site was a bad experience today, so many people cramped up in one small facility to accommodate hundreds of passengers waiting to embark on various busses, you have to go and ask where to wait in que, ques that get broken up and dislodged due to high human capacity inside that building, they want us to form a que, nearly impossible inside there, then you go wait outside, and wonder again where to wait for your bus which you're not sure what the number is and again you go ask ..oooh wait...I get to the bus door and the driver said the bus is very full, the seat no on my ticket has occupants, I said, well why did you allocate a seat to me if you no longer have seat reservations during bookings then? He was unable to respond just mumbled that the bus is too full and that peopleare already sitting on the seat allocated to me . Who booked the bus "too full"?

Review on the Cape Town - Windhoek route. Time announced is 22 h 30 (depart at 3 pm, arriving at 1:30 pm on the next day. The reality is that the bus has got a mechanical problem barely 50 Km from the station, that they finally had to call another bus and that we were actually still in Cape Town area around 7 pm. To this I will add 3 hours to simply pass the border between SA and Namibia (3 hours!) Result: we made it in Windhoek 7 HOURS LATE. Total duration of the trip, almost 30 HOURS TO MAKE IT WINDHOEK. For the passengers who then missed their connection bus to further North / Angola, Intercape was enable to compensate them, simply telling them to get a hotel (at their own fee) and get a new ticket on the next day (at their own fee). Nothing was okay but I give 2 stars since we eventually made it. I will just NOT USE INTERCAPE ANYMORE.

What a mad house! Limited parking, you'llbe lucky if you get one, total chaos.... something needs to be done regarding parking space. The distance one has to walk from parking area to terminal is ridiculous especially for the old with luggage. No orderly of any sorts. No concern for pensioners, they are shown no emphaty at all. I saw Elderly people having to stand long periods in a queue as it's first help first serve accordingly to your time stipulated of your bus leaving. Staff is fairly efficient & some are friendly & helpful. Others are just there for the pay slip at the end of the day. There's no visible security inside, but outside in the parking area they're ready to prescribe you a fine for just about anything. Cleanliness nope non existent. The place has no air con, its really messed up & is in need of a total makeover!

More competition is needed in this space, because InterCape busses are NOT my preferred service provider for long distance travel, because of their standards being so poor. Busses breaking down in the middle of trips. The whole experience of travelling with InterCape is just pure torture. Anyone that you come across that has used InterCape busses will even tell you about their not-so-friendly-staff, who clearly aren't having a great time doing their job, so might as well make everyone miserable. A trip to Gqeberha couldn't even be completed without there being a mechanical issue with their obviously aging fleet of busses. Seriously, we need to have more players in this space to give InterCape busses a real run for OUR money!!

  • aziza dollie

The bus we booked were over 2 hours late and we had to take the budget liner bus and at first intercape said they will refund us each a R200 into our account as it's due to their services we were delayed but now they said no refund after taking the bank details and Id as we aren't planning on traveling soon again ,quite a dissapointing experience I must say we were also horribly inconvenienced .Now we were promised by Luzaan to get the money and now it's only empty promises no one is keeping to his word here from intercape

I liked that the usb ports were functioning. The bus left before the given time of 12.05. I arrived at 12:00 not a bus in sight, at least we would have seen it drive out. Both bays did not have a Greyhound bus. One of the staff on the Durban to Capetown bus 23/06/22 moved around with a litter bag. The return trip 26/06/22 no such courtesies were offered. The staff should not assume all passengers know their stops. They must call out ( at least at night) A passenger going to Qwaqwa disembarked in Ladysmith disoriented.

The staff was very rough. I had called to check if someone can pick up a parcel on my behalf and they said the name written on the parcel is the one to fetch the parcel. I went there thinking they close at 6 o'clock yet they close at 5 o'clock. They bluntly refused to give the parcel telling me to come tomorrow or send someone on my behalf but they had refused over the phone for someone to fetch the parcel on ny behalf. I went there for nothing, had to go back again the following day.

I had a bad experience there. Had my backpack 9ver my shoulder. A young boy cut in front of me and started walking slowly, would not let me pass him. Thought I could make as if I wanted to pass right and then quickly go left. Doing that movement I saw in my pherifiral view a hand on my backpack. I jumped around and shouted at the fool. Please keep your belongings where you can see them at all time.

  • Terrific Majojo

At the station everything was just good, boarded a Greyhound bus to Johannesburg ,eish ,my greatest mistake so far in 2023. The bus had no inside lights, no charging points to charge our phones, no heater. Instead of arriving in JHB at 13:00 we arrived at 16:20 and the bus crew didn't even apologies to the passengers. Was badly disappointed by the Greyhound services

  • Joey Van Dyk

No control over passengers trying to get onto the bus. The busdriver tried however passengers behave like hooligans and could create a stampede. More control should be in place with more personnel on duty to keep passengers in a line to board the bus instead of BIG grown-up men pushing people and steping on people's toes. The luggage weigh in before was excellently

I'm very glad for the good service intercape staff doing to the customer and good driving I'm very happy, please continue to do that for good service, I really appreciate. Because my wife was travelling on 08june 2023 for 13h and arrive in Pretoria around 11h no complain on route. And travel return to Capetown on 09june no problem on route. Thank you

  • Michael Wilson

I had to stand in the wrong line for 45 minutes because I was misdirected by one of their staff to the wrong boarding gate, and then to top it off when I eventually got to my correct gate, the InterCape staff member checking tickets at the terminal was rude and sarcastically berated me for asking him to confirm if I was at the correct gate.

  • Legent Lebo

Had a worst 24hr journey from Jbg to Cape town due to a careless mechanic who brought a backup bus after we had a breakdown bus. The bus came with few fuel that took us from Bloemfontein to Laangsburg. Few Kms away the bus ran out of diesel and we waited from 11am to 1400 that is where we continue with our journey to cape town.

  • Ian Pells

Needs to be better lit for security reasons. Needs to be better signposted I shudder to think what it would be like for a tourist to navigate this experience. Not great. If you are a streetwise local with balls of steel and adjusted expectations it's not too bad. Welcome to Africa.

  • Busisiwe Ndlovu

Excellent service, punctual, professional and the drivers are courteous and respectful to passengers. The buses are in great condition. If you re travelling and you want to have peace of mind throughout your trip choose Intercape. Thank you guys for your outstanding service

  • Jenita Esterhuyse

At least you can wait inside a building with some chairs at the specific bus points. Also toilets available. Would love if the little shops open earlier to Fer some coffee while waiting or if there was a vending machine. But it was clean and safe with security personnel

  • Nozibele Mbanjwa

Busy place didn't like the fact that we almost got robbed as we were about to abort the bus .it will be nice if they can have more security there.tjanks to the passengers who were victims for recognising the perpetrators.all and all we all traveled safe.

  • Nikki Xashimba

The bus was late in Queenstown. Drivers didn't show any remorse for that. We ended up leaving at 16:35 instead of 17:45. The bus did not seem to be in good condition at all, but thanks God it did not breakdown on the road. It was very much uncomfortable.

  • Mariam Booley

  • Deony Barrington

The bus station is a bit of a mess. You don't really know where to stand to wait for your bus, and people start forming a line just for certain people going to certain places to be pulled out so it's a waste to stand in the line. Also the

  • Monique Crafford (Gucci)

This was very busy. Rude people pushing and shoving you. Too many people coming up to you trying to make you buy their broken or stolen goods. Cellphone chargers, powerbanks, earphones that are unauthentic products that dont work properly.

  • Thandokazi Magopheni (Thando)
