The folks who work here are kind, especially the lovely people at the front desk and the techs. However, I would not recommend this place especially if you are a young person without an expendable income. While the normal clientele has a bit more money, I do not, they took advantage of my naiveness and love for my animal and I left with an $800 bill and little support for my kitty. Additionally, I was told conflicting things about my kitty constantly throughout the vet clinic which left me with some distrust to what was true and what wasn’t. I was told that everything I needed to do for my cat was “urgent” or “imperative”, as someone who loves my cat, OF COURSE I would put the money down to help her. While I am sure they did care about my animal, I also realized after talking to multiple other vets that in fact everything they mentioned was not an emergency like they described. After spending $600 on tests and an exam, I was told the only thing my cat needed was a dental surgery to remove her canine and a weight loss plan. I happily agreed, wanting to do what was right for my baby. They told me everything else was healthy and that she was ready for surgery. I brought my cat in for dental surgery to remove her canine tooth at 8:15am, when I called at 1:15pm, I was told my cat was under sedation however she was wheezing (something she has always done) so they’d recommend an X-ray, for $400. I asked whether or not they would continue the dental surgery, they said if she is wheezing, they would not. I said no to the xray due to income issues and the fact if I paid that, I would struggle to bring her in again especially since I needed to pay for everything they had already done (sedation, hospital time). I had paid for a pre-surgery exam ($140) which was required before surgery where they did NOT find any sign of wheezing or breathing problems. At 3pm, I received a call—with her X-ray results. I had explicitly asked them NOT to do an X-ray due to cost concerns. When I went in, they explained they did this because they thought it was the best judgement. They then told me she had asthma, which was true, however they told me they “thought she’d make it through the weekend” so her treatment was extremely necessary. I was afraid for my kitties life, so I started treatment. At the time, I explained my financial situation and they said that while they suggest it, I would not have to come in for a follow up and instead could just talk to them on the phone. They had planned to charge me for everything they did to prepare her for surgery that day as well as the x-ray that I did not authorize. After a long conversation and multiple back and forth, I was able to get them to not make me pay for the X-ray that I did not authorize however they still made me pay for all the dental work as well as the x-ray reading—which was another couple hundreds of dollars. A week later, AFTER she started the medication they told me that in fact I would have to come in and that they were not willing to do a phone consult. I told them I’d like to take her off the medication, they told me they wouldn’t advise me on how. I was then left with my kitty on a medication that I was told they would help me with getting her off originally and then decided that I’d need to pay another $140 to take her off of it. I ended up having to consult someone else about how to take her off the medication. While I know this vet clinic is used to people with money, I am not one of them. I left spending nearly half my monthly income on my cat. The clinic KNEW I didn’t have much money and cared so much about my cat and they chose to take advantage of that by telling me that everything was extremely urgent and necessary for her, even when it wasn’t. I am so disappointed that a clinic that I thought would be a wonderful fit ended up taking advantage of me and my animal.

I have taken my kitty Kaida here two times now. They are extremely helpful and have been really great about helping me get her treatment going even with my limited income. Kaida just loves going to see her new friends she has made. Every person we have had contact with has been both professional and very friendly. The lobby and exam rooms are very calming and comfortable for both me and my cat. I love that the staff seem to care about Kaida almost as much as I do as it is really hard to find a doctor be it a veterinarian or human doctor that care about thir patients and really enjoy takeing care of them. I would definitely recomend using irvington veterinary for your fur babies. Recently brought my new kitten in and again I'm so happy I chose irvington veterinarian as the place I trust with my kitties. Had another visit with the kitties got their microchips done today. As for Kaida girl she is showing off how to get the perfect weight from a cat.

Irvington Vet Clinic is hands down the best vet clinic I've ever been to. They are a fear-free clinic and pride themselves on ensuring your pet has the best possible experience free of stress and anxiety. They ask that you call before coming in so they can prepare a room for your pet to go straight into, and so that they can clear any people/pets out of the lobby so as not to stress your pup (and other people's) out. They take the time to get your dog comfortable with all of the tools before using them, provide toys and treats, and creative ways to keep your pet entertained and and calm. They pay so much attention to detail and put a ton of effort toward gaining your furbaby's trust. Extremely knowledgeable staff, and they offer conventional and holistic care options. I can't speak more positively about my experience with this group. My fella and I came with our cat as a general check-up due to the fact she had been living in Costa Rica and should be checked on. Their care to give gentle advice backed up with multiple solutions was impeccable. Their real care for our cat was out of this world. Our cat, Belinda, was to have a blood draw and two shots along with a microchip installed. They chose, because our cat was unsettled to postpone putting in the chip and in doing so didn't charge us for our follow-up visit for putting in the chip. They chose to care about our cat's mental well-being. I can't believe how lucky we are to have found a vet AND vet tech that truly care about the physical and mental health of our cat. Thank you.

Love Irvington vet! My 13.5 year old border collie Sammy has had some health issues over the last six months and Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Rachel have taken great care of her. They are very patient with her, do all the exams on the floor, and have been excellent at treating her arthritis as well as the vestibular syndrome she had. They even do acupuncture in house! The techs and receptionists are all very kind and fuss over Sammy too. This clinic is equally great at dealing with my rambunctious, reactive 2-yr old BC, letting him wait in the car until the lobby is clear and he can go straight to a room. So happy to have found this place!

We love our veterinarian clinic. Our three cats & corgi go here. We just transferred our Dane/boxer who has horrible skin allergies. Our Dane/Boxer has the worst fear of the vet. Shaking, panting, trying to leave, & hiding behind me. Well today was different. Tons of fishy treats & a lick mat for her shot . She was so calm & fell in love with Dr. Ilona. She was so kind & gave her the best bootie rubs. She has never laid down & relaxed at the vet ! Absolutely recommend! This was the best vet visit I’ve ever had. Attentive and friendly staff made the experience smooth, un-rushed, and pleasant for us and our cat. We had a lot of questions and both the tech and doctor answered patiently and professionally. Our cat felt comfortable enough to climb around the room and explore. The exam room was comfortable and smelled good. It was the cleanest office I’ve ever seen. I’d recommend Irvington Vet Clinic to any cat parent. I’d give more stars if I could.

We've been taking our furbabies to Irvington for over 5 years (since they were puppies) and we're all very thankful for the caring staff. we appreciate everyone's genuine interest and well-being for Chet and June. The visits are filled with treats, praises and a thorough check-up where all our questions are answered and concerns addressed. I love this vet! They helped me during one of the worst times of my life, when my beloved kitty was diagnosed with nasal lymphoma. Got me in while a turn-and-burn vet wasn’t helping us out. They did as extensive tests they where capable of, spent a lot of time listening and talking with me, worked to get my cat into their busy schedule, and helped me come up with plans with “what’s next” while having so much compassion and empathy. So grateful I found them.

I wish I knew this gentleman’s name but one day I had lost something very important in the parking lot and he found it earlier, saw me completely stressed out and made sure it got back to me! A million thank you’s to this man!! He works at this vet. The integrity of his brought me to tears. He could have paid his rent with it but instead I got to pay mine….yes I lost my rent money THANK YOU TO THE GENTLEMAN WHO WORKS AT IRVINGTON VETERINARY!

We were from out of town and our dog Esprit was in severe distress on a Saturday, and Dr. Rachel Austen, who was only supposed to be open until 1PM, stayed until 7:30 PM to complete Esprit's surgery. We can't say enough about Dr. Rachel and her entire crew who virtually saved our dog's life. I have been bringing various pets to Irvington Veterinary for over ten years. Always professional and caring. When it was time for my cat to move on from this life, I made the appointment. When I brought Susanna in, there was an exam room all prepared with candles lit, overhead lights off, and a cushion for her in the exam table. I held her as she passed. The vet then said, “Take all the time you need.” Can’t ask for better than that.

Irvington Vet Clinic definitely goes above and beyond when it comes to animal care and customer service. My cats have unfortunately had more than their fair share of medical issues and emergencies. Irvington Vet Clinic has always been extremely accomodating, squeezing them in for (many) emergency appointments, excellent communication with me about what is going on, and referring me to specialists when extra care is needed.

My oldest friend was having major issues. The other Veterinarians wanted him on C/D Hills pet food. This food is garbage in my opinion . We moved both cats to a raw meat diet and some other low cost remedies to much success . My 14 year old buddy acts like a 10 year cat now!!! Awesome staff and I don't have to look at shelf after shelf of Eukanaba and Hills pet food being pushed on me. Thank You Irvington Vet Clinic !!!

My favorite very experience, and my pups' as well. Very friendly and helpful staff from reception to the doctors. It's integrated medicine, so they give you an option of natural homemade or compounded herbal formulas to Western medicine when they can, as well as their cost, effectiveness, and side effects before you decide. Not to mention tons of free grain free treats from Salty's and DAP throughout the whole place.

My dog has been established at this practice for several years, mostly wellness checks. He was attacked by an off leash dog, but didn’t require an emergency visit. We called Irvington clinic first thing the next morning to get him an appointment and were told there was no morning availability. No willingness to work him in. Poor care and poor customer service. We will be seeking care elsewhere from now on.

My expectations were exceeded by this group of professionals! I am very impressed with their customer service and the fabulous care they provided for my little dog recently. I had been wanting to switch Vet's for quite awhile but it seemed like such a hassle. I'm SO glad I finally made the move to Irvington. Dr. Kelly is fabulous and knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things thoroughly.

I really love Irvington Veterinary Clinic. They have taken such good care of my dog, Cactus, and have been so wonderful finding time to see her for last minute issues. The vets and techs do everything possible to make Cactus comfortable while she's there, and they're great at both explaining treatment options & pricing. Irvington makes a trip to the vet as pleasant and pain-free as possible.

All of the doctors at Irvington are exceptional. They care deeply for the pets and humans that come through their doors. They cared for my dog for 10 years of her life and saw us through a few confusing issues. They were so patient and kind in trying to find solutions. They’re also great at offering both holistic and western options for treatment. I can’t recommend them enough!

These people are the best! My dog has been going to Irvington Veterinary Clinic for the past six years. I initially chose them because they were closest but I've stayed because they are always so consistently wonderful. Their staff clearly loves animals and they have gone out of their way again and again to give my dog the best care and always do. Can't recommend them enough.

I love Irvington Vet Clinic! They have been taking great care of my 11 year old Goldendoodle. My doodle experienced a Grand Mal Seizure at age 2. At Dr.Rachel's suggestion, my doodle started taking chinese herbs & eating raw dog food. My doodle has never experienced another seizure. You would never know my doodle is 11 years old. I've been bringing my bengal here since she was a kitten and have always had a great experience. They're very respectful of my cat and really take care to make her feel as comfortable as possible. Also, I appreciate that they take the time to go over everything that they may do with prices and answer any questions you may have. Would recommend!

Irvington is the best vet office we have ever been to anywhere. It is clear they care deeply for animals and us. Dr Ilona has made every experience pleasant and so thorough even when we were in there for scary things. Nick is also especially helpful and kind. Thank you for all you do! The team at Irvington Vet is truly amazing. They have cared for my kitties in sickness and in health and are nothing but compassionate - even with the especially nervous cat. Their expertise is apparent. They kept me updated during procedures and checked in with me in the days following. I recommend them to all of my pet-owning friends!

I have taken my pets to many Portland Vets over the Last 17 years. I am vary satisfied with the entire staff at Irvington Vet Clinic. They may cost a tiny bit more, but always discuss options beforehand. My pets and I both love their location. Only room for improvement: I wish they could also take care of my companion rabbits as well.

Dr. Rachel was so very professional and friendly when meeting our new puppy. My dog gets really scared going to the vet. I recently had to make two visits, with a higher dose of anxiety meds on the second, to get a needed blood draw. My dog still freaked out and we were about to abort again, but masterful vet tech Sarah worked her soothing magic and got the job done! These guy are really great!

I cannot say enough about this place. The employees are kind, Dr. Rachel is amazing. I have had nothing but good experiences. All my pets are Irvington Vet pets. I love the eastern and western pet medicine approach and really appreciate the price lay outs they give you so you can pick what works best for you. YAY!

Wonderful Vet Clinic!!!! Dr. Rachel and her staff took excellent care of my two cats and one dog. I really liked the fact that they offer eastern medicinal alternatives as well as traditional practices, which gave me plenty of cost effective options.

The team who assisted us—technicians Kimberlee and Nick as well as Dr. Jordan—were kind, gentle, patient, efficient, and informative throughout the visit. They are superstars! Nothing could have made this experience better than it already was.

Very disorganized. Multiple issues with incorrect prescriptions, incorrect charges for services not rendered, not taking notes of medical records, inability to take blood, etc. Don’t waste your time here.
