I ordered a large pizza around 4:00pm for $15.99 and a Mexican Coke for almost $4.00 after they added all of the fees and charges it was almost $30. Even with that I was looking forward to my food. I was then informed me delivery could take up to 50 minutes. No big deal. However, then after the 2nd hour of waiting passed I called. They told me the driver should be there any minute. It has been another 20 minutes and I still do not have my food. I called back and whoever answered the phone was extremely rude and made no apologies whatsoever he actually tried to squabble with me over a few minutes of time which was irrelevant when I should have had my food over an hour ago. Ridiculous! Apparently, the driver dropped my food on the way to my door and had to go back to the restaurant. When the food finally arrived it was freezing cold and the wrong pizza. I called again and the person on the phone proceeded to argue with me for the next 10minutes that if I wanted a different pizza he would make it but I had to go and pick it up. If I was able to pick up order then why did I order delivery in the first place? I mean WOW!! I do not recommend anyone order from here unless u want to pay at least $30 for an empty stomach with a side of migraine. This was not my first time ordering from here but it is most definitely my last!

I've never written an online review before, so it is unfortunate only under these circumstances have I been compelled to do so now. Overlooking the higher-than-appropriate prices one might make the case is not unheard of among restaurants in Westwood, and the significant extra charge for Ricotta, which as far as I'm aware is a fundamental characteristic of a calzone's recipe, the food did not begin to make the case for this establishment either. Cold, partially soggy, burnt exterior, empty of topping content, and devoid of any salvageable flavor, they seem to have found a way to make pizza unpalatable (or calzone specifically in my case), which is rather disheartening. Having worked in the food industry, I firmly contend everyone is allowed a mulligan now and again, so I looked to the second calzone that came with it for redemption. Though thankfully lacking the charred finish of the former, it also lacked the same content and flavor we were unable to find in the former, as it lay flat, thinly crusted, and more to be desired beside its uglier twin. The extra star for my being able to eat part of the meal to stave off hunger a little while longer.

This is my very first time writing a review online. For late night food, a couple of my friends and I decided order some pizza and wings. We ordered on grubhub at 3:28am. I got an instant text message saying that my food will be delivered around 4:20am. We waited until then and called the restaurant to check on ETA of food. I don't know if he was the owner or not, but the guy with thick accent said the delivery guy left about 15min ago because I did not answer the phone. I swear, I didn't get any call from nobody. I double checked with the owner to make sure he had right number, which he did. He then blamed the delivery guy. I asked him why he didn't call me 15min ago when he knew the delivery guy was leaving... But he kept on blaming the delivery guy. I honestly feel like the food was never prepared and was never sent out to delivery. What kind of restaurant does not call the customer to confirm before cancelling order? Bottom line, when you make an order at late night, double check with the restaurant.... bc the owner can easily blame the "unknown" delivery guy who mysteriously called me(not) and ruin your night out with friends.

Worse ever!!!! I ordered with an hour in advance, food never showed up, called the place twice just to get an angry, disrespectful, an awful manager/cashier/owner to yelled at me with an attitude, washing his hands over their delivery partner company. Yelled, cussed all he wanted, hung me up and yet I didn't recieve my food till 40 minutes later than I was supposed to. Delivery company and the pizzeria throw the ball at each other, so out is place and an apology was never made from any party. I'm out of country visitor and to get and experience like this is beyond the frustration and disappointing. I don't recommend this place at all, they don't have the customer service anyone deserves. Customer is not always right but when they are I would expect to at least the company to be honest and make it right to them but it is not the case. I hope this manager it really isn't the owner because it is a bad representation of the company. I always support local but with this kind of actions I do not support or either recommend this place.

Chicken fettuccine Alfredo + cheese bread + soda came out to be $40. Food was alright but very overpriced. Decent amount of food but definitely not $40 worth. Pasta was quite heavy, it was lacking zest to cut through the butter. I enjoyed it for the first half but it slowly became a chore to eat from how heavy it was. Cheese bread was good. I went in person and they gave us a menu that had reasonable prices but once he came back with the total I was shook. He told us the menu was 3yrs old. I feel like he should tell people the price of our orders before we pay. Man working the register was nice, but never came to check up on us after bringing out the food. Didn’t ask us if we wanted anything to drink but maybe that’s because the water also costs money. I understand covid has been difficult but I imagine raising prices to this level would do any good. I feel like it makes it hard to attract new customers and disappoint long time customers. Overall, decent food but overpriced.

Persian pizza not Italian. Only wish the guy had ice. What kind of restaurant in this part of town has no ice? The Persian owner has been telling us for years that the ice machine is broken but he is a liar. He just wants to force you to buy cold cola. Or get warm tap water. It's so sad because his pizza is pretty good but since he is from Iran he thinks Americans should drink warm water with hot pizza. Pathetic. I would have given him 5 Stars but I and my large family grew tired of his bad manners and condescending attitude, like Westerners are stupid and he is the only pizza shop in town. We used to go here 3 to 4 and times a week but now we only go maybe twice a year. His loss of my and others money because he is too cheap and too stupid to provide ice and decent service. Don't waste your time or money here.. better pizza down the street and they have this amazing American invention; It's called ice.

Stopped in as it is close to the hotel we stayed at while checking out a prospect college. He selected as he thought this was best on the budget. We shared a Chicken Pesto, Buffalo Wings, and Cesar Salad. Must highly recommend the Pesto Pizza as it combined supremely on a crispy fresh crust. The Buffalo Wings had a traditional sause with what seemed like a smoky chilly flavor in additional. We dined with others who had a cheese with sasauge and mushrooms pizza. Must compliment the establishment on using good sliced sasauge not the greasy balls of goop most chains serve. Would like to return for one of the many lunch specials as the choices are ideal for mid day meals served with salad and beverage. Lost a star as interior seemed a little lacking in decor at first glance but outdoor seating is fresh and charming. That being said must recommend for all when hungry and near.

Italian Express has some surprisingly good Italian food. Normally I would say it's four stars, but considering its location in Italian-barren LA, this place does it better than most others -- especially for the price. The lunch specials are particularly good, and I always tear up that salad bar. The meals are hearty big portions, and they come straight out of the kitchen hot and tasty. Some of my personal recommendations are the lasagna, the meatball sandwich (nice and saucy), and the chicken parmigiana sandwich. Oh, and you will murder your friends for the last cheese roll. I should also mention that this place looks a little dumpy; you would NOT want to bring a date here. But if you just want some tasty Italian, you can safely ignore the dingy ambiance. In fact, it's kind of cozy, once you get used to it.

I have stopped writing reviews for a long time but this place absolutely warranted a review so others can know. I was staying in the area for surgery and called the front desk and asked for a good pizza place with pasta - without hesitation they said Italian Express. Thank God I called. I wanted something delicious and it’s hard to know what’s going to be good in a new place. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and the stuffed shells in pink sauce. WOW. I grew up on stuffed shells and these were just so spectacular. The pizza is really yummy too!! I was so so pleased. Thank you Italian Express for a wonderful meal!! If I ever find myself here again I will be 10 orders deep in stuffed shells lol

After waiting 90 minutes for my food, I called the restaurant and the guy I spoke with claimed that the driver couldn't get in touch with me and couldn't redeliver, but I never received a call/text from GH or the restaurant. After emailing back and forth with Grubhub, I discovered that the restaurant cancelled the order! He literally lied to me. Ordered for my first time tonight. Ordered penne arrabiata with sausage and caesar salad. I gave a 2 ☆ rating because the pasta came with a whole italian sausage and the salad was made with iceberg lettuce. I've never seen penne arrabiata that came with a whole sausage. I was expecting ground sausage, as is used in every other version of this i've had. Need i say more about a caesar salad made with iceberg? I mean, seriously. By definition, it's made with romaine. Also, instead of using real shaved or shredded parmesan cheese, they used the stuff that the market sells in the plastic bottle, like Kraft. Not good.

Never again! Baked spaghetti was supposedly ordered by many so I tried that, along with fried mushrooms, and tiramisu. Terrible dinner choice!! This photo of the spaghetti does not look baked at all. It looked and tasted like regular spaghetti, except too sour and salty--had to throw it away. I did not taste any hint of melted mozzarella in it. Tiramisu was not fresh. Definitely frozen because I could taste the frozen pieces. Guess mushrooms were the only ok thing, which were really regular fried mushrooms, nothing more.

One of my favorite places to eat at. Westwood gem. Working nearby, I would order from this place once a week and once even did a 5 day bender. The value you get is unbeatable. The staff are great once you get to know them. The chef, Rene is one of the best people I have met at a restaurant, nicest person and always has my order memorized when I call. Recommend the meat eater pizza, the calzone with sauce inside with meatballs, garlic and jalapenos, the garlic cheesy bread and any of their pastas. The lunch specials are worth it. Highly recommend this place to anyone that loves Italian.

Ordered on grub hub only to find out two hours later that the food wasn't on its way. The guy I spoke with claimed that the driver couldn't get ahold of anyone, but I never received a call and have the phone log to prove it. Bottom line, cancel the order or call the customer and inform them if there's any issues with delivery. In addition, after doing a bit of research I was able to find out that this is a pretty common occurrence with this place. This was a tremendously frustrating experience and I will definitely be reporting this matter to the Better Business Bureau .

Ordered Garlic Cheese bread and Buffalo wings. Both were fantastic, but the wings are a step above any other place out there. The Buffalo sauce on the wings is perfection, but even better than that is the massive size of these wings!! And if that wasn’t good enough, 10 of these huge wings for only 13.99 is a steal!! It was go good, I felt responsible for spreading the word. Great service as well.

We just moved to LA and ordered takeaway from Italian Express Pizza for our first meal here to thank my parents for helping with the move. We ordered a small cheese pizza, spinach ravioli, an Italian salad, and a tiramisu for four of us to split. Couldn't have asked for a better first meal! This place is really good. A hidden gem in Westwood Village. I would highly recommend sitting in the courtyard and sharing a large pizza and a side as a group, it's a great atmosphere and bang for buck. Pizza is thin crust, super cheesy, and wood fired - not American or Neopolitan style but just generally a great pizza. Friendly service too.

I have had mixed experiences ordering from Italian Express. When it has been good, its very good, where everything was great from the order and customer service to the food itself. When it was bad, it was very bad. These very poor experiences, with a grumpy, cranky person on the phone, order delays, some missing food and some very sub par food. Italian Express was on the short list of choices when my coworkers and I were hungry, but we got tired of the gamble and started ordering from other nearby spots.

Very disappointed in my selection. I ordered wings and tater tots. For six dollars I thought I would of gotten more than I received but hey, lesson learned.‍♀️ My flats had so much hair on them (long white hairs) that by the time I took one bite out of a drum, I was instantly turned off n just threw them all away. Lastly, I received my order a hour and twenty minutes after ordering. What a total waste of my time n money.. not to mention the tip I should of kept. Never again!!!!!

I wanted to find some good Italian pasta and found this place in the area. When I tried to order for takeout they were extremely rude and insisted I sat inside. Ordered this as a late night craving on Postmates and was pleasantly surprised with the portion size and quality. I just went with something simple - penne Alfredo. Plenty of sauce that had a great fresh garlic flavor, definitely homemade. Two people could split this — I’ll easily have it for 2 meals! I do recommend getting bread as it did not come with any :)

The food was delicious, we got the spicy penne (swapped for angel hair) and the fettuccine alfredo (swapped for angel hair) both with shrimp and crispy chicken. They make it fresh every order, when we got our food it was really hot. Really good food for the price, serving size fills you up. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the fettuccine alfredo with crispy chicken, its a literal 10/10. If anyone's seen the anime, Food Wars, thats what it felt like.

My husband ordered a snack after his disappointing $50 steak dinner down the street. The meatballs were tasty, he had to order some garlic bread because he didn’t want to waste the sauce. The garlic bread was delicious, crust was the best. I was worried at first because there wasn’t anyone inside the restaurant, but service was great, we enjoyed ourselves, they made our night. We plan on going back on our next visit to UCLA ❤️

I’ve been eating at this restaurant over the past two years, and I consider it one of LA hidden and secret places. Maybe you see the place is humble, but trust me it is number 1 Italian restaurant in LA. Always go with angel hair with pink sauce, I give this dish 11 out of 10 What makes this place special is that they used to open until 2 AM, but I don’t know if they still serving until that time during Covid or not.

If you’re in the area STOP AND TRY IT. My boyfriend ordered a medium pizza for him and I … we went home with half cause the slices are a bit bigger than other pizza places. dough was ✨perfection✨. We looooooove pizza from The Italian Express!! We've had it delivered to our hotel near the UCLA Medical Center 5 or 6 times. Each time the ordering process has been made easy by the competent guy on the phone, the delivery guy has been prompt & respectful, and the pizza has been to-die-for delicious! There is sooo much luscious cheese on these pizzas, we always order our pies extra crispy.

Having been introduced to this by a UCLA attendee almost 15 years ago, it's been a favorite stop I've introduced many others to. Well, all you really need to eat are the garlic cheese rolls. That's it. And eat them fresh and there. The pizzas, though great, are usually a bit on the soggy side - so, make sure to ask for a crispy crust. Again, the garlic cheese rolls are all you need.

ABSOLUTE Rip Off ! Small baby pizza w a can of soda, guy charged me 25 dollars Opened up my box of pizza, guy had litterally put 3 pieces of mushroom and pineapple on each slice I told him about getting ripped, he said, you want more mushrooms, you gatta pay more! Their pizza is amazing! I’m from New Jersey, so I know what good pizza taste like and it’s so hard to find a good NY slice around here and let me tell you, this place does it right. Fantastic food and service. They serve large pizzas at a reasonable price with fresh ingredients. It's traditional Italian produce combined in an American fashion. It's one if not the best pizza place in Westwood. I recommend to anyone going to West LA especially college students and tourists. It's pizza made the way should be and more!

I'm just a delivery driver. But there was nobody waiting at the front door that just had a bell to ring Bixby they still didn't answer until after the 2nd. Then it took them another 10 minutes to get a small cup of tomato basil soup. If at all possible I will do my best not to pick up from here or even visit this restaurant again.

Excellent food, had the Chicken fettuccine, Chicken parm,some meatballs Greek salad, and garlic bread, everything exceeded expectations! Wish this place was in my neighborhood. I will come back specifically to eat here when indoor eating is available, hopefully the place will be able to make it to the other side of the pandemic.

Spaghetti was good, even though i usually dont like anything spicy. The salad could have more tomatoes. I was the only customer on site but could hear phone orders coming in. The tip basket looked funny, but i decided to skip on tips because they only gave me a credit card receipt and not the sale receipt.

One of the worst foods we’ve had, we ordered 5 food. Fried mushrooms: 2.5/5- pizza chicken pesto: 2/5 (the dough was awful and undercooked)- spaghetti with meatballs: 1/5 (very bland sauce and cold meatball) - shrimp alfredo: 2/5 - bland but at least texture was not as awful

I usually love this place cause it stays open late but I ordered at 1:00 and they said it would take 50-60 minutes and I got my order at 3:00. When I got my mozzarella sticks I payed $7.99 for there were only 4 in the box. That’s $2 per stick come on now. :( disappointed

Very good food. The flavors were on point. We came at around 5:30 and the servers seemed to be in no rush because it wasn't peak. Would come back again, but would probably get takeout in the future. Dining in doesn't seem to add much to the experience during off-peak.

This place is hopping. First impression is that it's trendy and everybody knows everybody. We came here around 715 and they said it would be an hour wait. ‍ we said ok and sat at the bar. In 30 mins she said our table was ready. good thing cause I was starving.

This place is cute. The squid ink pasta was delicious. I'm not much of a pizza person and they do a good job at providing other options. Their drinks are pretty amazing. I definitely recommend not driving to this restaurant so you can have a couple cocktails.

The old man cashier cheated us with the prices, our check was not the same prices as they are in the menu, the check didn’t have details about our order, so when i checked it, there was extra amount of money was added to the total bill price.

Pizza their are nice and tasty, however you need to be cautious when you get your bill, it may be higher than the actual value. I think they mean to do this with some coustomers and tourests. Just re-check your bill carefully.

Super cheap especially if you come with other people, but don't expect anything fancy. Inside of the restaurant is a little gross, but it has a very pretty patio. The pizza is really good, the crust is amazing and bready.

This place is garbage. The food sucks and the service is terrible. Also, never order anything for delivery, not if you ever want to get it.

Garlic knots, pizza, alfredo, pink sauce, it's all so great! And the service, they're phenomenal. Family owned, just incredibly friendly.

The food was good. The cheese rolls were the best! Pizza was a bit too greasy and the pasta was okay. Also they have patio seating.

Really good Italian food. Loved garlic bread, pesto fettocino, vegetable lasgna. Best part is owner serves with happy smile.
