This have been my favorite store since I moved to Houston. I've shopped here atleast 3 times this month alone. Today I came to pick up a shipping order in the second floor. Once I picked up the order I went to first floor to get some earrings and billed it in the same floor. I had to come back to second floor since I parked my car there. When I was about to get out of the door, the alarm started to ring. And I stopped there and went towards the associate to show my bag. Even before checking on my bag, she asked if I took anything. I mean, you could have asked if I had purchased any jewelry instead of jumping into a pre judgemental conclusion. Once she checked my bag she simply said oh yeah jewelry's are a excepmt. Didn't even care to apologize for accusing someone. Will a real thief simply stop and get checked instead of running away with the items? I'm feeling so offended and I will shop here again. I'm so sorry.
I only come here to pick up my online orders. The pick-up is on the second floor. Restrooms are left of registers. I walked in to use the bathroom, and every toilet was disgusting. Handicapped stall was locked with no one inside. Since the store is so big, I walked out to find another set of restrooms. I went to the first floor and read a sign suggesting the first floor did have bathrooms. However, I couldn't find them. I saw an associate who had just finished checking out a customer in the men's section and asked her where the restrooms on the first floor were and she was on her cell phone on speaker. She responded with "first floor." She was not courteous at all and acted as if I were bothering her at her job. I proceeded to go back to the second floor and ended up having to clean a toilet with paper towels before using the toilet. There was urine on the floor. I think I will continue to do my shopping online.
Tina a floor manager was very disrespectful towards my 16 year old brother looking him up and down judging his apparel. Making remarks under her breath when we first encountered her coming into the store she looked at my brothers spiderman crocs and said “some people really need to grow up” we proceeded with our shopping ignoring her comment. We encountered her a second time in the store walking o opposite directions and she was shaking her head once she saw us making a face towards my brother saying more remarks under her breath. Making our visit today extremely unpleasant.
I had a photo session scheduled for November 19th to capture moments with my 2-year-old. Upon check-in, as we moved to the shooting area, Mike mentioned that it was a busy day, creating an atmosphere of haste. Unfortunately, his lack of empathy and patience became apparent, especially considering my child's age. He repeatedly insisted that we had taken a sufficient number of pictures.
the last JC Penny I visited was about six years ago in Asheville, NC. it was nice. that was befit Covid. This Houston store was like a clearance center almost. the displays were horrible and it was super hot inside. There was only one cashier for the entire store. I felt bad for him. fortunately, I was purchasing men's Levi's only, so I was able to get in and out.
On the second floor, two registers are designated for returns and online order pick-up. The wait time is horrible. When I approached the line, two customers were being serviced at the two registers and two people were ahead of me. It took at least fifteen minutes until I was helped. The store should open additional registers for returns and online order pick-ups.
The store was nice, neat and organized however the elevator was out of order so shoppers in wheelchairs could not access the upper level. The store should be accessible to everyone including shoppers with disabilities that cannot use the escalator or stairs.

Can't comment on the retail selection, but the photo center was quick and efficient, even with only one person working there. I was in and out within 15 minutes, and got a professional headshot at a reasonable price.
Nice people, easy to get to, selections are okay..regular pricing is not a value and discounts and coupons are something I'm sure others find enjoyable. Not my style.. if you like jcp you will like this one
