We picked this office based off of the reviews. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match. At scheduling, we asked specifically if they accepted Aetna or Cigna Dental Savings Plan. (It’s a plan where the patient pays the office’s contracted rate with the insurance carrier. So instead of having to go through the process of billing a claim, and waiting to get paid — the office would get paid by us, in exchange for matching the amount they get paid by the insurance. So if they charge a self-pay person $120 for a cleaning, but Cigna pays $80 for a cleaning, the office typically has to adjust the $40.) I called 2 days before our appointments to confirm again that they work with the dental savings plan. They again, said yes. I renewed our annual membership with the savings plan. We get to the office — and they showed us the full rate fees. I reminded them that we have the savings plan. They adjusted the fees to match their Cigna fees. Great. We start the appointments. The front desk attendee then says, ops — we’re not actually “enrolled” in that program. Now remember, all they are doing is adjusting their full fee, to the rate they get paid by insurance. Nothing to bill, nothing to get approval on. I asked them to check with the owner/dentist to see what we can do. The owner/dentist said she would not approve the “courtesy adjustment”. Everyone is entitled to run their business how they want. We do live in America after all — and with that being said, I’m still trying to make logical sense out of a business turning down two new patients paying cash upfront. Not a brilliant business move in my opinion, especially if your staff made a mistake TWICE saying you accepted the program. Also to note, as a “kind” gesture, they gave us a set of X-rays taken — but they aren’t usable in the format they were emailed. We’ve had this discount plan for 6+ years, used in multiple offices (general dentistry & pediatric dentistry) — and have never had an issue. Maybe the owner/dentist was having a bad morning, but either way — I cannot recommend this office.

I chipped my front tooth and was unable to be seen by my dentist for 10 days and was recommended this office by a friend. When I called, the staff was incredibly friendly and told me to come right away. Dr Ryan saw me waiting at the front desk and promptly greeted me, something you don't see everyday. Their personalized approach was evident from that moment on. I don't think I have ever met a dentist with the warm bedside manner of Dr Melissa Nixon. She made me feel welcome, comfortable and explained all the options to me. Not once did I feel like I had put them out or behind. They took me in with no questions asked and treated me like gold. I was there for maybe an hour and my front tooth looks like it was never damaged. It is perfect! On top of that, they have state of the art equipment and technology which is something I desire as a patient. I was so impressed by this office that I am strongly considering switching dentists after 20 years. Thank you Dr Nixon, Dr Ryan & staff for being so kind and available. I will never forget it. Your fantastic staff is true testimony of your character and how you run your practice. I'll be back!

I had my first dental appointment in Jacksonville since moving here from Texas a months back and chose Jacksonville Family Dentistry. I’M SO GLAD I DID! The front desk staff are very sweet, the office is very clean and organized, there are not alot of people waiting in the lobby to be seen (very important to me - this office clearly takes their time with each patient and treats them with care instead of trying to funnel people in and out! I am very thankful for that!) The two hygienists I met were very sweet and they did a great job getting my x-rays and cleaning my teeth. This has to be my most favorite dental visit ever, honestly! I have sensitive teeth and was never at all uncomfortable or in pain and my mouth looks and feels super clean. The dentist was very sweet as well and didn’t seem rushed which I really appreciated! The front office ladies did a great job of taking care of my insurance information as well, being fully covered and not having to worry about billing is so nice! The entire experience was such a breeze and I’m excited for my next visit in 6 months! Thank you Jacksonville Family Dentistry!

Dr. Nixon and Dr. Ryan, as well as the entire staff are genuine and kind. They made room in their very busy schedules when I reached out for an emergency, within 24 hours of the initial phone call I was on my way to feeling much better! Stephanie worked her magic to fit me in the schedule within 2 hours of the phone call as a new patient and the following morning Kelsey took incredible care of me while Dr. Ryan fixed me up. I have extreme anxiety when it comes to anything related to dental work, they made sure I was comfortable and selflessly took breaks when it was clear my emotions were too high. They gave me updates along the way “1/3 of the way there…almost done…just cleaning up now” which helped me stay calm while they were working. All in all, I cannot thank the entire practice nor the person who recommended them enough! I’ve found a home at Jacksonville Family Dentistry ❤️

I was very happy with Jacksonville Family Dentistry as soon as I walked in the building the office was beautiful and clean the staff at the front desk are amazing friendly and helpful and everything was new and modern and all the Dental equipment as well. The rooms were actually open space but still felt very private and very comfortable I’ve never been to a dentist place like Jacksonville Family Dentistry and the dental assistant was very nice and knowledgeable help me get through some of my anxiety’s the dentist was also very good. I love Dr. Nixon and all the staff here! I’ve been seeing them for 2 years and they’re always so warm and friendly, I actually look forward to my appointments! And I really appreciate that Dr. Nixon takes a conservative approach with treatment instead of recommending things that are unnecessary. I’ve had dentists in the past recommend procedures I didn’t need, which has made me a bit wary when finding a new one, but I am so grateful to have found a dentist I trust here in Jax. Dr. Nixon will never recommend something that is not necessary, which gives me tremendous peace of mind. Thanks to everyone at Jacksonville Family Dentistry, you all are wonderful! :)

Dr. Nixon and her staff at Jacksonville Family Dentistry are skilled and sensitive practitioners. The practice uses the latest technologies and continually upgrades and improves their delivery of care. Dr. Nixon’s professional skill and judgement is excellent. Dr. Nixon is one in an extended family of dentists who sometimes augment the practice and which highly distinguishes her professional network. Our prior dentist retired years ago after serving our family well for decades, so when Dr. Nixon took over his practice our expectations were high, and have since been met many times over. We highly recommend Dr. Nixon!

Unfortunately, It was a terrible experience at another local dentist office that led me to Jacksonville Family but I'm so glad it did. I found a home there. Everyone is genuinely caring, friendly, and honest. I never felt taken advantage of and received just the services needed, no hidden fees or over inflated treatment plan. I was always comfortable, if you are nervous at the dentist, don't worry they care! Rene gave me fantastic cleaning and Dr. Nixon did a perfect filling, painlessly. If you are looking for a dentist or looking for a better dental experience give them a call. You won't be sorry you did!

I’m so thankful for Dr. Nixon and her team. I have to be in the dental chair often so this where I needed to find an exceptional doctor. I’m confident in her decisions and her ascetic eye. Delilah is excellent oral hygenist and every single time I go in to the office, everyone treats me like a star & like they truly appreciate my business & go out of the way to ensure comfort as well. I actually felt excellent after my cleaning today as it was so such a comfortable chair, I was set up with dark shades and the music all out me at ease and then a little light nap. It was great.

So glad a friend of mine suggested this office. Very clean, the people there are so nice and they were very calming. I am one of those people who get very anxious with dentist. But Doctor Nixon and her staff were exceptional. They told me play by play what they needed to do, and made sure I was good throughout the whole experience. I do not have insurance at this time, but the prices were not bad at all. Will always go back there for anything I need done. I now have insurance and was just there today, love her and her staff. Would not ever think of going anywhere else.

The staff and the dentist is amazing. They are completely professional and the environment is spotless, safe and sanitary. This is the best dentist I have ever been to. You will come in as a customer and leave as a friend of their family!! Fast, fun, friendly service with no wait!! The entire staff is wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. Nixon. She is amazing. My story: I needed an extensive amount of work done but overwhelmed and full of dread. Traumatized by my childhood and family dentist, I kept putting it off. . I am amazed by the entire staff and I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Nixon. They put a plan together based on my needs and made it so easy. Seriously, 2 thumbs up and a big smile. Thankfully I don’t have to dread going to the dentist anymore.

Best experience at the dentist, ever!!! New patient appointments can sometimes be dreadful and intimidating, but the cozy atmosphere and kind employees made my first appointment nothing less from warm and welcoming. I have never felt so cared for at a Dental Office. I suffer from very sensitive teeth, while my day to day is fine, cleanings have been so painful and I’ve dreaded. Until this morning, I was greeted kindly and I was not rushed, the staff didn’t rush either and I knew I take more time then most. They offered different levels of numbing agents and this made the experience phenomenal and I wish I would have known about them sooner.

I absolutely love this dental practice! They are the best with patient care and customer service. The most important part is that they’re gentle. I needed my crown to be reattached and I was seen the next day. Only draw back is that you will spend more time getting out the parking lot if it’s rush hour. Thank you Dr. Nixon and staff!!!

With that said, i got the same level of care as a first time patient at this practice, as i would receiving care from my own mom.
