Food- 4/5 ⭐️ Service- 5 ⭐️ Cleanliness-5 ⭐️ Ambiance- 5 ⭐️ Value- 4 ⭐️ Location-5 ⭐️ Options-4 ⭐️ It was tough deciding whether to give this place 4 or 5 stars. Ultimately I give 4 because there are some things that need improvement. I brought my niece here as a graduation gift. This is where she chose to eat. We came as a party of four. Upon entering we realized it was way too cold inside, so asked to be seated outside. She sat us outside in the sun, which was a bit intense, and there was a table in the shade, but since we had already asked to be moved, we didn’t want to make any more fuss. So we sat in the sun. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. We ordered a blueberry lemonade, mango lemonade and two frozen mint lemonade’s. My blueberry lemonade was too sweet so I didn’t finish it. The mint lemonade was amazing! We ordered a falafel and hummus plate as an appetizer. The hummus was very plain. They had a kind of relish on one end and a hot sauce on the other end, but even so, it was a very bland hummus. The falafel was very good! Crisp and fresh. The tahini dipping sauce was ok. I ordered the gyro platter. It came with a deliciously seasoned and unique rice. It also came with a spinach spanakopita, roasted vegetables, fresh tomatoes, tzatziki sauce, and some feta cheese and Kalamata olives. The carrots were not cooked long enough but the rest of the vegetables were good. The meat was very good! I don’t order gyro very often, but this was seasoned perfectly! My daughter and niece both ordered the dill chicken pita sandwich with Cajun fries. They were not Cajun seasoned fries. They were just regular fries. The sandwiches were delicious. They both could only eat half of their food and took home the rest for later. My husband ordered the shrimp plate because he wasn’t very hungry. It came with 5 grilled shrimp. He said it was very good. The restroom was actually really nice. I took a picture because it was really cute. The total bill was $120 with tip. I might return here, but I would skip the hummus. Wear long pants and long sleeves if dining inside!

This is the first restaurant that we have tried since arriving in Kansas City. The restaurant was clean and artful. Our server was great. For starters we had lentil soup, za'ter, taboula salad, falafel ,hummus and stuffed grape leaves dolama I believe . I didn't like the za'ter maybe I will try it with meat next time. I've never cared for falafel but this falafel was the best I've ever tasted in the history of falafel. It was a beautiful sight and the interior was so rich and delicious. The lentil soup was perfect and the dolama was good too. The hummus ...oooh that hummus was the second best hummus I've ever tasted. The best was found the next day at a restaurant in Chicago but I digress. This hummus was so creamy flavorful and spicy. We couldn't get enough of it. I was already a bit full when the main course arrived. We had a bit of everything: gyro meat, kabob, lamb, chicken with rice. The gyro meat was seasoned to perfection. The kabob and chicken had no taste whatsoever and the lamb was a bit tough. The ball was definitely dropped there. It was disappointing considering how great everything else tasted. For dessert we had a beautiful red kunafa. It was thinner than what I've previously had but it was just as tasty. I just wish it had a bit more of that oily substance. I love kunafa. For our drinks we had mango lemonade and strawberry lemonade. The colors were bright and both flavors were perfect. Great place to eat and hopefully the meat will be better the next time.

Yesterday I had the blessing of being able to eat at this phenomenal restaurant that has been in Kansas City for quite some time now. I still remember fondly going to the original location at 431 Westport; but this updated location at 515 Westport Road, is truly worth it.. I had the Grilled Kabob Sandwich (you can choose from many different meats, such as: chicken, lamb, beef kifta or beef sirloin. I chose lamb) which was excellent and fresh. Also comes with either soup or salad, I chose the soup. Which was a rustic lentil soup blended with spices, almost had a kick to it. And you can choose from either fries or rice with the sandwich.. After eating at the Jerusalem Cafe for many years now, I can’t express how much you’ll love this place..

This restaurant was great. The atmosphere was nice and clean, with a somewhat warm aesthetic and the service was good. The food though, was what truly shines. I had the falafel sandwich with lentil soup and rice, and my boyfriend had the gyro sandwich with Greek salad and fries. The lentil soup was nice and smooth/creamy in texture, and was really tasty. There was a bit of spiciness to it but it wasn't overwhelming; it was seasoned perfectly. There was a lot of it too, considering it was just a side dish. The 'main course', the falafel sandwich, was also very good. It tasted very fresh and flavorful, also well seasoned. I had a bite of the lamb gyro sandwich and the flavor was good and strong. The meat was seasoned perfectly. Even the flavored ice tea (raspberry, if I remember correctly) was delicious. The amount of food for the price was very reasonable as well; I could only get through half my meal so now I have some tasty leftovers for lunch at work tomorrow. Definitely coming back in the future with friends/family. I'm thinking about their shawarma sandwich next...

Jerusalem Cafe’s interior is simultaneously energizing and calming. I’m just speculating, but it feels like a hole in the wall founded by an older person that was spruced up by their kids, still maintaining its humble charm with tacky menus and food served on paper-lined burger baskets. It reminds me of my dad’s wardrobe. He’s been slowly adding little touches that lift his style (replacing plaid shirts for solid colors and swapping baggy cargo shorts for normal khakis) yet it’s still the same type of clothes that fit his down-to-earth personality. Anyway, enough with the dad jokes. Their indoor dining is open, but we prefer outdoors due to COVID. It was rainy, so we did takeout. The patio looked comfortable for a dry day. Greek salad was okay ‍♂️ - mostly iceberg lettuce. Falafel was top notch Thin, crispy outer layer with a soft and flavorful inside. Much less starchy tasting than most falafel at other places. Tried one ☝ just one ☝French fry from my buddy Lee (try be healthy, ya feel?). Very solid seasoning double-fried

This is one of My favorite restaurants in KC! Everything is fresh and delicious, I'm never disappointed. This time I ordered the Falafel & Baba Ghanouj Sandwich, and it was a perfect combo of creamy and smoky, I loved it! I really appreciate how many vegan and vegetarian options there are and the fact they are clearly labeled on the menu. My husband had the Gyros Sandwich and he loved it as well. We always get fries as a side, I've never had better fries anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The experience is 10/10 every time, I always leave happy and full. Thank you to everyone at Jerusalem Cafe, you're doing an amazing job!

The last time we went here (about a year ago) the food and service was good, this time though it was significantly worse. We ordered chicken and beef shawarma, as well as manakeesh and tabouleh. The tabouleh was far too sour, and the chicken shawarma was overspiced, dry, and nothing like authentic shawarma. The level of spice makes it seem as though the spice was meant to cover the taste of the bad quality chicken. It was hard to finish. The beef in the beef shawarma was chewy and overspiced as well. It has no resemblance to any type of Palestinian food, let alone Middle Eastern cuisine. I will also note that the nearby table hadn't finished their food either. I'm not sure why the quality of food nosedived, but it was very disappointing. The manakeesh was fine, and the restaurant seemed clean, which is the only reason I didn't put one stars.

I came to Jerusalem Cafe to meet some friends who drove in from out of town. I have eaten here before and enjoyed their food and ambiance. During this visit, I ordered the lamb kebab. To review this truthfully, my lamb was overcooked and very tough and chewy to eat. I should have sent it back immediately and asked for them to prepare it again, especially when I'm spending $30 for it. I understand that having a restaurant in Westport is not cheap but the quality of food should be better than what I received. Our waitress was also very scattered. She had more tables than she seemed that she could handle comfortably. When she came to our table to check on us, she would ask, "How are you doing?", and then disappear before we could really respond. To say the least, I am disappointed in my experience and will probably not return.

I am not familiar with Middle Eastern food, so I can only comment on my experience and taste. I ordered the Jerusalem Feast for Two. We started with the Hummus (5) very tasty, filling, and satisfying, the falafel balls were excellent (5). Next, we shared the Lentil soup which I found very tasty as well (4). The Lamb and Chicken Kabobs on top of seasoned rice was very good (4). Last we had the Baklava for desert (3) and tried the Turkish Coffee (3). All together, it was a nice experience to eat something totally different. The waiters are very friendly and helpful with explaining the different dishes . Would I go back? Yes, there were other dishes I have yet to try, especially the Falafel and Gyro dishes.

We had never been here before & wanted something casual but tasty to eat. We walked in and were happy to find it is a super casual setting (kind of like Panera) BUT you still get a server for your table! The ambience was relaxing, clean, modern, stylish and very pleasant to eat in! The falafel was SO tasty. We got that as an appetizer. We also split a strawberry lemonade which I found to be too sweet. I’ll get a normal lemonade next time! For the main course, we ordered a shawarma and a gyro. Not only do the sandwiches come with fries but they ALSO come with a soup or salad! And all of that for only $10/$11!! The fries were awesome and the sandwiches were also very good (I’ve have had better but this was definitely up there with the best)! Our server was super friendly and our overall experience was AWESOME! I will definitely be going back for the yummy cheap food, casual atmosphere, and friendly service!

I've been here several times and I love the food! I am vegetarian, and one of the things I like is the wide variety of options here. I came in tonight with my parents. Awni was our server, and he gave us excellent service. He was very friendly, attentive, and gave good recommendations. My dad had the shrimp kebab and absolutely devoured it. I usually get the falafel sandwich. This time, I tried the vegetarian pastry plate. It was a LOT of food. Everything tasted great! I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a chill spot to eat delicious Mediterranean food. It's also affordable.

Went there on a recommendation of a friend and found it relatively slow on a weekday. It's a place where you have to wait a few minutes for somebody to seat you but it wasn't that long a wait. The servers were nice but also communal (both servers came to check on us throughout the meal) and so our needs were always taken care of. The appetizers were incredibly filling. Perhaps enough to be their own meal. The hummus and falafel combo are worth it all on their own. But the drinks (frozen or not) do deserve their own praise. Try em out! I ordered the Philli-Gyro and found there to be way more food than I could really eat. Still... we had to try the desserts and you could hardly go wrong with the baklava. Fairly small and inexpensive but also tasty. Practically went into a food Coma going to this place but the food was just that good. I would strongly suggest trying it.

  • Svetlana Orlov

Me and my husband went there for the first time. I orders hummus with chicken and my husband got the shawarma platter. One of the things it came with was salad... not a big fan at all. I'm giving this place a rating of 3 only because my husband didn't like the food we ordered. It looked amazing presentation wise but no more than that. The hummus was good but not anything special, but the chicken I added was great! I can't say exactly if this place is good or not because being there only one time didn't let us try food that may have actually been great. The prices are about 15-30 bucks depending on the dish and if you choose to add things to it. Overall, I don't crave to go back there, but if I was ever in the area again, I'd stop by and try something new.

I've spent 13 years traveling across the country full-time and finally established roots here in KC. Mediterranean food is our favorite to seek out everywhere we go. With that being said, this place has set a new standard of quality and service. I can easily abd honestly say this is the best Mediterranean food I've had with some of the kindest service I've had. The only negative thing to say is how horrible full I am right now.

If you are ever considering ordering from their food cart, DON’T DO IT! They prioritize drunk people in line who don’t know their order rather than ready to pay customers. I would rather recommend “The Halal Guys” in liberty, MO. Yes, Liberty is a bit of a drive but you are guaranteed quality service and quality food. If you are a black women like me going to the halal guys you won’t question how you are treated/serviced based on race like Jerusalem Cafe. While at the food truck for Jerusalem cafe I saw many other customer being treated with kindness and patience. But when I was serviced and other black women were serviced I noticed the workers beings short and judgmental to women of color

What I enjoy the most about going out to eat (other than good food) is a place where we can also TALK about the food and drinks that we are having...and Jerusalem Cafe gave us plenty to talk about. After a day at the museum with the godchildren, I wanted to get something filling and good and with comfort. Can you go wrong with hummus and pita bread?! Not sure, but I have had some of the best hummus in KC at this place, not to mention being able to order a bowl of olives, a side a rice, beef and chicken shawarma, frozen strawberry mango lemonades, cheese pita pizzas, fries and Turkish Coffees (which is for real coffee drinkers, not those of us who HAVE to add cream and sugar lol, but still good). Definitely go try this place and make sure if you can get the Lentil Soup, you grab that too!

  • Justin Knysz

I had great service and a fast lunch here. The waiter confirmed the lentil soup was vegan friendly. I'm a falafel junkie and enjoyed my sandwich. Honestly I was surprised at how much I liked the French fries - they were perfection! The location is really nice and has an up-scale feel. There was a fair amount of nearby parking available. I will definitely be back again soon - either for dine-in or carryout!

Pros: (1) Fairly varied menu (2) Nice building & interior (3) The falafel was pretty much the best falafel we’ve eaten Cons: (1) Fairly expensive for the quantity of food (about 20-30% more expensive than expected for the food quality/quantity) (2) Fries and Gyro meat were lukewarm (3) The hummus is pretty bland - way worse than we’d expect for a place that touts their hummus (4) The gyro meat was also fairly bland compared to other places (5) Choosing a sandwich to be “Jerusalem-Style” would also appear to mean that you pay roughly $2 to get less food inside your sandwich Conclusion: If they kept the price the same while doubling the quantity of food you receive, I still probably wouldn’t be back. But maybe, just for the falafel…

I was here a few weeks ago with my parents, and we had a great time dining here. Food was delicious, and portion is decent. This was my parents first time trying middle eastern food, and they loved it. The hummus and gyro plate are very tasty. Two things that made me knock down one star: the air conditioning alongside the wall is crazy strong. So the food get cold really fast and we were so cold by end of the dinner. The other is the service could be a bit more friendly. But overall good experience, highly recommend.

Ate here two weeks ago and it was the first time eating inside a restaurant since moving to KC when the pandemic started last March. A friend recommended this place months ago and we finally had a chance to try it. The food was fantastic!!! I know we ordered their appetizer mix and that alone was so filling. The beef shawarma was so delicious and I'm glad I got rice instead of fries because it was also tasty. Definitely very full after all the food and highly recommend and will be coming back in the future. All the servers had masks on and people were required to wear masks when moving around, but once seated could take them off. It's good to see establishments still taking COVID seriously. Keep up the awesome work!!!

In KCMO for a night and it’s always a struggle to find gluten free and vegan options in new places. The kind folks at my hotel recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Super friendly staff, great attitude even though I walked in about 15 min before close. The food was exquisite! I got the falafel + hummus plate and sub’d out pita for veggies, lentil soup + salad. Yum! Highly recommend.

Awesome Diner / Meat n 3 highly recommend trying all the delicious fried food and fixings. The corn nuggets and onion rings are super good and several other sides and daily specials to choose from. Can’t go wrong with the ice cream, milkshakes and slices of homemade pie (like chess). Hamburger and Chill Dogs are delicious too. If I could have rated this a 10, I would have. We ordered and asked if we could customize somethings so we could try more, and our server was happy to do so. They even gave me extra pita bread to take home with my leftovers. It was top notch. Fairly quick but we didn't feel rushed. And the flavors of everything we ate were wonderful! Have to recommend the lentil soup and the falafel as it was the best and my favorites (very hard to pick!) If I am ever back in KC I know I'll be making a stop here.

I haven't been this impressed by an eatery in many years. It's been a decade or more since I've been to The Jerusalem Cafe , it even moved to bigger nicer digs. I ordered a regular gyro and salad and my partner had the gyro a lentil soup. He's not a soup eater but ordered it for me on my 70th birthday. Soup friggin fantastic!!! Everything about this place is fantastic!!! So much wonderful food....gyros huge and fresh, that tomato was perfectly ripe. Will go back much sooner next time.

This place has been great for years. An absolute Kansas City staple. It's definitely changed over the years, it's in an entirely different location than it started out in! Food has always been great, and as of late they seemed to have developed quite the irreverent and jovial attitude! Location is spacious and relaxed. Would have given them 5 stars had I received just a portion of my order before needing to go. The order was paid in full. Rather than giving me even just the taziki sauce or rice (part of the meal I paid for) before I had to leave, they had no accommodation wanting me to wait for the whole meal together, which I simply couldn't do. I was willing to lose out on the money for just a part of the meal, but instead wasted my money and went hungry.

A Westport classic! I've been going here for years. This location is the perfect size for them. Their falafel and gyros are untouchable by any other Mediterranean restaurant in the city. This time I had the philly gyros. Super non-traditonal, but worth the order! The cheese and peppers worked surprisingly well with the lamb gyro meat. Try it! If you can't make it to their restaurant, they travel frequently with their food truck. It's worth stopping by if you ever see them in the wild

A few things need to be told about this place. Food was great. We stopped there for lunch and that hummus and gyros were delicious. Stuff is great , you don’t have to wait to be seated or to put your order in. This one is important for me during lunch time. This is a family owned business, so going there you support local. And owners really care about their business, so you can expect both the nice conversion and good service. Chicken shawarma is my next order when I’ll get there again. Will keep you posted)

After being seated by the very gracious host, I requested the Dill Chicken with all of the toppings, wrapped in a pita. My side was the seasoned rice. Everything was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was clean, well-spaced, and not very busy at the time I stopped in. (Early evening on a Wednesday) The prices were quite reasonable. The service was excellent. My meal was so filling that I did not have room for the Baklava. Perhaps next time!

This restaurant is amazing. The food is always fresh and it's definitely a refreshing switch up from the normal burgers and fries. The employees here are very dedicated and work very hard to make sure their customers are happy. The employees and management work so fluidly as a team. Even during their busiest hours they stay upbeat and pay attention to details. The management is truly focused on customer and employee satisfaction which is amazing. They are speedy with service and delicious. This restaurant is a whole vibe and definitely a 10 out of 10!

I definitely loved this place! My boyfriend and I went there last night. This is one of my favorite types of cuisine and this restaurant does it perfectly! The food was so good and very authentic. The staff also were super, super nice and very friendly. I like the decor of the place and the overall vibe and even the merch! I will be going back for sure.

I was dining alone and the staff was very kind and hospitable. I felt welcomed and appreciated. The food was phenomenal. I had an appetizer platter, and they kindly made a substitution. I adore the babaghanoush, and everything was delicious. The restaurant is comfortable and attractive. You really can't go wrong choosing Jerusalem Cafe.

A friend of mine suggested I try this place while I was in Kansas City. The hummus and pita were amazing! The veggie gyro and chicken Philly gyro were delicious. They have really good fries. The Greek dressing on the salads is super good. I got the dolma and baklava to take back home. The dolma just wasn't up to par and got thrown out, the baklava was perfection, I should have ordered extra!

This is a much nicer location than the previous two that they have had. I felt that the gyro was rather tasty as well as the presentation. While the curry chicken was tasty the temperature as in heat not flavor was lacking. It came out less than ideally hot, but was still delicious. Service was asked to be expected, the only thing that I wish was different would be that the pita bread was fresh and cooked in house. But overall it goes with the standard Jerusalem Cafe dining experience. We still would recommend

Such a delicious experience: got a regular chicken and lamb gyro, opted for the rice and Greek salad. All around 10/10. Ended with a Turkish coffee & baklava, fantastic. Don't miss out on coming here!

Nice ambience. Nice appetizer dish if you want to try a little of everything. We had a fresh cherry strawberry lemonade and turkish cofee. Delicious. We also had a falafel gyro and seasoned fries and a cheese, turkish pizza. Recommend if you are shopping in the area. There is outside seating too.

I gave eaten here 6-7 times and the Food is always good at this location. Word of caution, bring a jacket. This is the coldest restaurant in KC. I’m not even kidding. When you tell your spouse to bring theirs and they decline because it’s 90+ degrees out you stand your ground. Look them right in the eyes with the intensity of 10 suns and force them to go against all their instincts and just bring, the dang, jacket—for the love of god!!!!!!

We are so excited about this gastronomic find. The food is fresh, well seasoned and delicious! The hummus… oh my, the hummus is incredible. Loads of options for any eating lifestyle. Vegan? Gluten free? Omnivore? You are covered. We don’t live in the area, but we will keep it on our KC eatery list, and have already told folks who are traveling through the area that they need to stop at Jerusalem Cafe.

I've been there several times during the past years. Quality is always good and the same as the first time but the price went up a little the last to visit. If you like baba ganush try their babaganush, it's the best. I can say it is one of the best Mediterranean restaurant I've ever try.

Wonderful food & service!! Everything was so tasty and fresh, the food came quickly, and the server was very attentive. We loved the baba ghanoush and fresh lemonades. The falafel was some of the best we’ve all EVER had. As a bonus our waitress offered these GIANT takeaway containers of the lemonade flavors we ordered at no extra charge. Will definitely return many times and recommend to all!!

Came in for an earlyish dinner. Started off with Spanakopita, and it was super flakey, and spinage feta was savory. Lentil soup side seemed plain but was perfect temp and well put together. Lamb gyro with rice was amazing. Lamb kabob was juicy!

Came to this unique place in Westport with family after a stressful day. First impression is relaxing and cozy. Atmosphere is very attractive, no loud noise and customers are enjoying the nice and quiet. Ordered lamb Kabob, Gyro Sandwich, and Gyro platter. All of them are quite surprisingly good. A good place if you're looking for something different than American food. We will come back again with more reports.

My first time on this place. The coffee tasted like they was made with dishes water. Looks the storage area just in front of you when you came out of the restroom and look the floor on the dining room, if this is what you can see imagine what you can not see. The gyro and the hummus was ok, not the greatest. And the server was on a hurry. Next time visiting Kansas this restaurant will no be on my list again.

LOOOOOVEEEE this place. I was a little worried because I had never had food from "Israel" so I didnt know if I would even like it. However, this was the best food I stated in Kansas. I was there for the weekend and when to other restaurants >. but I recommend recommend this place and if I go back to this area I am defiantly going back to this spot with who ever is with me!

  • Kimberly Henderson

I truly enjoy the food at Jerusalem's Cafe. However, the service is great too. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and adhering to social distancing policies! I've not been since they relocated. The beef was seasoned just so. The rice was light and fluffy. The bread was baked to perfection. If you're tired of the same food prepared the same way, Jerusalem Cafe is for you!

I really recommend it for lunch or even dinner.

The new location, (just down the street in a free standing building with ample parking) is beautiful and clean!! The food is still plentiful & DELICIOUS!!! Please note that this is NOT the same place/owners of the Jerusalem Cafe Bakery on Westport Rd, west of Southwest Trfwy. I thought they were the same and was very disappointed.

This is not about the food, never have I ever had bad food served to me from here, this is one of my favorite places to eat. However, since Covid the service industry has plummeted and it definitely shows here. Unfortunately I will have to order my food to go from now on.
