18/12/2014 I had to take a friend to Joburg station to catch a bus. Firstly there is no boom at the entrance to collect parking tickets. It has been broken off. I delivered friend and then tried to get out only to find that there are parking ticket boxes and you cannot get out without breaking the booms. So you have to go and park you car (if you can find parking) get a ticket from the entrance and wade through piles of human excrement and pay R12 (immaterial that you have originally spent less than five minutes in the dump) at one of three (only) money gobblers (two of which don't work so you stand in a queue) then find the machine only takes R20 or less (and NONE of the shops will exchange R100 notes). EVENTUALLY you do get out of the concourse and have to wade through same said excrement to your car and get tout of the station. What a downgrade for the once very nice Joburg station which I used to go to every day. SHAME on you TRANSNET
No stars! Really bad service. No one knows where is the correct bording gate for you to go to. Not even the information booth could help. When you get to gate 6 and ask for help you get ahouted on and get removed out of the line. If it wasn't for the other travelers who helped us, we might have missed the bus. The place is very unorganized and there is no board to indicate witch boarding gate is witch. None of the workers even have proper brandeduniform, they're very arrogant, unhelpful once you get helped you gey put on the wrong bus. We are currently traveling on Citiliner and paid for Greyhound Premium without any explanation. This bus is very uncomfortable, no leg room, aircons not working and bus driver is rude. Definitely not we paid for. When we tryed to raise awareness the bus driver said it is not his problem, we should admit a complain NOT AT ALL THE PERFECT TRAVEL! NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR!!!!!
Ordered an Uber at park station. First I was told that Ubers are not allowed to stop anywhere within the park station vicinity. Walked outside onto the street where metre taxis are parked. As soon as the Uber driver arrived, the metre taxis drivers blocked him using their vehicles. Myself and the Uber driver were intimidated and ordered to empty are wallets and give them all our money before we would be freed. I have never been so scared in my life. We were only allowed to leave after giving all our money to the metre taxis drivers. I find it ridiculous that I as a pregnant woman am told that I have to walk three robots down the road to catch an Uber when there's a busy road right outside park station. Furthermore be told that I must fork out 200 rand's as opposed to 50 rand's for an Uber. And all this in a constitutional country which guarantees one the freedom of movement!
It's proper because they have transportation to your destination. Buses to any province in South Africa, even out of the country. I've been using park station to travel to my home KwaZulu-Natal for almost my half of my life and I've learnt one thing about that place, it can be rough out there. Don't leave your luggage unattended cause they will steal it and you won't get it back. Don't buy anything from anyone unless it's at a restaurant or a shop inside park station. These guys will sell you a dummy phone and you won't know until you are seated inside the bus and it's leaving. If you have alot to carry, rather ask your friends to escort you to the place and wait with you until the bus leaves, or you might regret why you came alone. Besides that, they have many useful shops you might need while you are there.
It's so Sad to see how South Africans Hustle while they're getting paid Salaries,I was told I need to pay for Storage, secondly They posponed my trip to 10:00 am In the Morning,Since they claim I have Extra Lagage(There was a lady with Multiple Box, Apparently She booked the Bus Around 11:am yesterday So they Decided to Save Extra space for her as if She was Traveling alone),3rdly I'm traveling with a Pregnant Women We had to Carry Our Bags and Wait in the Streets for Our Trip the Following Morning. some Stuff members Deserve to be paid with the Attitude they give us, Our safety is the last thing on their Minds. This is the Last Time I use a Bus To travel. I'm Extremely Disappointed and Unhappy.☹️☹️☹️
Park Station you experience first and third world within the a single property. Gautrain parkade first world and exceptionally calm. Exceptionally clean as well. The station is superb and trains are punctual. Navigation around is not confusing even for the first time visit. The older section is not as perfect. Parkade is crowded and one is constantly crowded by parking aides and bag porters. The area not as clean but not too bad either. Visible security all round. Harmonizing the two section could create an even more vibrant facility. Limited car hire touch points available
Park station is clean and the changes are good but it’s reputation is being ruined by the hostile meter taxi drivers who are very forward. They try get people to choose them to take them to their next destinations & it is a very unpleasant situation to be in. We can’t request Ubers anymore from park station, the meter taxi drivers question certain cars that come in & their prices are much higher than what one would pay when using the other apps. I dread travelling from park station to surrounding areas in joburg. Just to go to Wits I was charged R50 , it’s ridiculous.
The new makeover just make it look like OR Tambo airport and it gives you a real feeling of travelling and for those who really are travelling, walking into this place gives you goosebumps of a plane take off. Always clean but the new toilets are always out of water and one has pay R2 to those cleaners for them to give you a quarter full bucket of water. Besides that and those stonners who always try to make you pay R20 for asking directions, Jhb Parkstation has a classic food court next to the Gautrain pickup point. I say well done to our tax money.
Super easy and convenient location to depart from by Intercape if you're using the Gautrain. Wouldn't recommend driving into the city as the parking is also a bit dodge. Busses are on time. Book your tickets online and beware of all the scammers trying to offer assistance. Intercape bus check in is 30 mins before hand for domestic trips and 1 hour before for international trips. All you have to do is go straight to the security at the departure doors for them to weigh your bag.
I understand this is the place where you get long distance buses but avoid this place if you can . The security officers are very hostile, I understand the security issues but even the information desk is full of angry women who can’t properly talk to travelers. Not to mention the whole Uber/bolt situation , I had to walk 4mins away from that place for uber pick you and that time is in the morning hours in Johannesburg. Avoid this place if you can.
Gautrain is extremely efficient and cheaper to travel with. Thank you very much for the safety announcements, they really alert some of us who think that the world is a better place where one can easily trust the next person until they get robbed. That alone shows us how you truly care about your passengers. Apart from loss of network in some tunnels enroute Johannesburg or Pretoria, the Gautrain remains the best way to travel.
The platform area is full of hustlers wearing attention sleeves. Don't accept any assistance from them!! They are probably going to ask where are you going, and charge you 50R just for directing you to the correct platform. You can easily see all different operators around the platform area. Just go to the queue of your operator and destination. If you need any help, ask from the ticket offices located opposite of platforms.
I just lost 20 minutes in a train, and there was no clear communication as to when will the train leave. We expiriance technical delays is not telling me if I should go out try a different form of transport, yet the service is quite costly. Should be able to announce that you are likely to leave in 10 minutes or 15 minutes, that way I can tell howling will it take me to tbe next station and finally my destination.
Park Station is the hub for railway transport in Johannesburg. It serves local as well as national routes. It is also a stop for the Gautrain. Several bus carriers also use it as a major pick up point. These include Intercape and City to city. In general the station is kept neat and security is good. Visable policing also contribute to the safety factor. Restrooms and places to buy food are available.
We had the worst scenario yesterday, the lady by the pick up Point by the Tropicana Hotel seems to be clueless when it comes to buses we even missed our Bus,and when we got Durban Station were told the bus had left we have to purchase a new Tickets....Really dispappointed ....Was not expecting a Refund but maybe being put on the next Bus was gonna be fair since there was one available at 21:00.
Uber was ordered at Park Station. I was first informed that Ubers are not permitted to stop anywhere near Park Station. entered the street where meter taxis are parked by going outdoors. The meter taxi drivers immediately blocked the Uber driver with their cars as soon as he arrived. The Uber driver and I were threatened and told to give them all of our money before we could be released.
Coming in was the only issue, the Uber driver wanted to drop me off outside the main gate, and he actually stopped in the middle of a gang of animated "porters", some with trolleys, some shady characters around as well, I quickly told him to enter and that I would pay the 15 Rand! It was fine inside as I just went straight to the check in queue and then onto the bus. This was at 6am
24.12.2022 5pm intercape budgetliner from park station to Capetown I gave the driver my ticket and my baby bag and told him am fetching my traveling bag near the check out .the bus left even when I was screening trying to stop it because it was not out of the gate yet it left.I was left stranded with my infant.they even stole my traveling bag near the check out officers
Connects you to almost every area in South Africa. Has access to train stations, taxis, Uber and Gautrain. The place is always full. It has a notable number of foreigners and goods are sold at low prices. The common language here is IsiZulu, Sotho and English. Keeps getting renovated. The place gives you a real feel of a South African culture.
This is the place to catch buses to Capetown, Durban etc.Do well to buy tickets online or at any computicket shop found in most malls.Thay give u to suit ur budget. Be very carefull and try as much as possible to stay within security zones. Do not follow any "so called" cap drivers. Call an Über and show them exactly where u are. Stay safe!
What a pleasant surprise. The last time we visited Park Station it was filthy and smelled of urine, disgustingly messed up. Today was a wonderful experience. It was clean, helpful staff showing you where to go. Just wonderful!!! Congratulations to whomever had taken over the maintenance of Park Station. It looks great.
High security and clean metrorail has cleaned up its act at least in Gauteng and the renovation has flung this station into the jhb transportation hub it has a metrorail precinct Shosholoza meyl area bus station and two food courts connected to metrorail Gautrain and rea vaya and the main roof is an engineering marvel
Environmentally neat and visible security but the 2 toilets have no water taps to wash hands even though they are clean. For long distance travellers there's a hassle free easy to choose luxury coach service and well controlled entry bus ports but least of all local passenger trains still needs reliability sometimes
If only they can control who goes in and out. Plenty of skelems there, who are there to rob people. I was there on Monday ,and I did not like what I saw. A police officer who was very rude to a foreign guy,and the guy had everything (Passport and a ticket) but he was treated like a thug. Very bad
I didn't go to catch a train but just to hang out. There are about six different restaurants inside, some shops, and a local market on the southside. The place was very modern looking and kept really clean (unlike the local market outside). One hip restaurant even had a live DJ spinning tunes.
Situated in Johannesburg CBD. 1 of the biggest trains and bus stations where commuters are spoilt for choice to pick various destinations be it long distance trips or just around the city. Safe and convenient ...food chains and most stores are everywhere and around for access. Awesome place.
This place regardless of the high numbers of travelers it is well kept Keep up the good work. I have been in this place since 2007 thanks for all the up grads on the rest rooms since then, keep improving. Save water! Its safe but be vigilante because hangery people can try chance on you.
Very clean and organized transit hub for road and rail transport. Busses going up to Zimbabwe and Botswana from here. There is also a gautrain station here. Many shops and clean restrooms. Also a variety of restaurants and snack shops. Is is packed - so keep an eye on belongings.
The place is clean and safe considering that it is in inner city and very busy especially during Easter holidays and December. Very convenient for boarding Gautrain, long distance trains and local trains as well as long distance buses. Car hire is also available on sight.
Do not walk by yourself outside the station, a nyaope addict tried his luck with me on Monday morning by attacking me from behind. I managed to body slam him to the ground and took my way. Might not have been so lucky. That area is 100% not safe and I've learnt my lesson.
DON’T WALK OUTSIDE THE STATION. I got assaulted at knifepoint by 5 guys just walking along De Villers St (managed to run away but others may not be so lucky). If you read other reviews you’ll see that the same thing has happened to other people. This was in July 2018.
The place is well kept, clean too. Security guards and South African Police are visible so safety is not an issue at all. The busses are also well run and reliable. If you need a long distance bus from Joburg to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique , Malawi and Zambia
PRASA YOU ARE REALLY FAILING US. 1. ITS BEEN OVER A YEAR know WITH ESCALATORS that are NOT Working.why 2. HAVE BEEN STANDING IN LONG QUEUE PAY FOR PARKING THIS WHOLE PLACE HAS ONE MACHINE THAT DOSEN'T WORK PROPERLY. I WON'T MENTION YOUR BUSES THAT ARE SO OLD
Please help if any of you know, how do I arrange for parking my car whilst I am away for a few days (taking the bus from there). I've seen the designated areas for such cars but I don't know about prior arrangements and payment options to be made. Thanks.
I just had to pick up an old friend from the park station recently. What a memory lane. The place is the same people going up and down all the time and everybody apparently in a rush. I like the upkeep of the place and all the conveniences all around.
It offers the best integrated rapid transport network hub that i have seen in this country. Trains. Long distance buses. Reavaya. Gautrain and busses. Taxi's. Easy uber drop off and pick up points. Restaurants. Awesome. Love being here every time.
Undergoing upgrades at the moment so expect delays. More bus services being added. Departure terminals being upgraded this may cause confusion just approach officials for assistance. Make sure you book in advance especially during peak times.
I did not feel safe there. The parking area was not well lit and there were many dangerous looking people around. No sign of any security. It is really ridiculous that my taxi driver had to pay R15-00 parking fee for a drop and go trip.
I’m the bus now. I take this bus often. This time they have bus us on a tiny bus. There is no space at all. On top of the the people managing it are so rude! I have never before!! With I name the names so I could lay a proper complaint!
Arrived 4am to pick up Mom arriving from Dbn not allowed to park inside all gates locked at both entrances. Have to leave your vehicle outside. Mom is old to walk so far with heavy bags let alone dangerous sitting outside in your car
Why are most of the female toilets kept locked. I finally found one toilet next to Romans Pizza Absa Area with a long waiting line. One doesn't need to wait for so long for a toilet really coz of the obvious consequences yo!
Check in was 1730, 1825 still no bus it would be nice if we get updated earlier and stay in the house and come check in late. The gentleman that came to tell us the bus is in Pta what time are we getting in Capetown …
Restaurants are there, internet cafes n cellphone n airtime stores you will found here, job centre n banks here, dis-chem pharmacy is here, toilets here n police station plus it clean..... What more cause all u need u get.
This time around it was very clean and not over crowded like it usually is. The security and staff were readily available to assist. Businesses inside were not yet opened. Boarding our bus was quicker and efficient.
Good upgrade but the Restrooms needed to be done better. The check in area is poor and need a better signage. Propose a merge with Gautrain and ReaVaya so that one can change modes without getting out in the rain
This is one part of the Johannesburg CBD which one can feel slightly safe at, the security is tight and there is a lot of police visibility, it gets quiet overcrowded but effort is made to keep it clean and safe
Gautrain Station with trains working All days of the week, Trains to Rosebank, Sandton, Marlboro, Midrand, Centurion rill Pretoria. Inside the park station you find long distance to all provinces of South Africa
The management can't be serious allowing Metter taxi harassing people even when you enter a paid parking saying any sedan is not allowed to pick up they should check this thing for the convenience of commuters
Get all transportation to all around South Africa and aboard even Gautrain station, busses and taxi hubs and do your dining with all your favorite Restaurants and bus tickets and car rentals companies
Park Station gives you access to Regional and Local buses leaving Johannesburg, the Gautrain and Metro Rail, Gautrain Buses and the Reya Vayas. There us an uber picking points and a taxi rank as well.
Though part of the station has been renovated, the platform area is dark and dirty. Escalators to to and from platform not working. Tracks leading into the station and around platforms full of trash.
Johannesburg Park Station has two sides to it. The North and top end where the Gautrain entrance is, is clean and modern. The other bottom end to the South is absolutely filthy and a s h one T hole.
The place is clean the only most problem are public toilets there are no water after helping your self you cannot wash hands taps are not working Management must fix the taps this is a busy place
As for trains, its a poor service, especially Naledi and Vereeniging! Otherwise it is clean on the market look inside. Restaurants are very good and the station is clean itself. Loving it!
Wow Parkstation is so clean guys, all busses are available, toilets are very hygienic , I olso luv the restaurant become they're so many you choose what you like …
Am impressed with the effort to keep the place clean at all times and the number of theft cases inside the premises has drastically reduced. Keep up the good work
I pass there everyday when going to work, sometimes buy food by the restaurants inside park station and had few a few drinks by Buffalo Bills as well...
It is clean and safe, how ever it is in the Johannesburg CBD, once you go out of the station premises you ommidiately become vulnerable to common crime
Clean inside but unclean outside. A bit safe inside but definitely not safe outside. Fast and slow trains available. Long distance buses available here
Despite the noticable police presence , one still needs to be careful when engaging in any activity there, be it travelling on waiting for a guest.
Not a bad place to board a bus. Best to report to your chosen bus company for further info to where to board. Beware hawkers and scam artists.
The place is well kept. Toilets are not in good standard. Some there is no basins to wash hands after using toilet. "" next to interbank atm"
Nice place in downtown Joburg, very convenient. They need to put more sitting areas since there are more passengers waiting for buses now.
Johannesburg is a good place altits overcrowded with street vendors but we do have some parts of Joburg where you can enjoy doing shopping
Organised but can be overcrowded sometimes. Shops for those who want to buy something for the road. Fast food franchise's and a pharmacy.
Garbage terminal. Can't request a uber, dirty terminals and private security rampage with no law and order. Everybody does as they please
You can follow boards to trains/busses to anywhere in South Africa... Except the bathrooms....not 1 sign in main hall to show the way...
Extremely dirty and smells like urine. The parking lot was flooded with no draining for rain water. Come on JHB, you can do better.
This thing of closing the gates is unfair people get rained on, can get robbed. Or even worse lose their belongings. BHOD ke sana.
A little bit scary however like the fact the police are visible and security take their jobs seriously. This gave me peace of mind
All is well inside the station but outside its very dirty. Dumping site. The guys that ask if you need a taxi they are nuisance.
Beautiful bus terminal that is centrally located. The facilities are clean and the bus schedules are well coordinated.
No toilets unorganised hectic no control lines no information boards of arrival and departure very bad area of Joburg
Police of the area are like hijacking and demanding money from passengers and it seems like South Africa is not safe
I really hate this kind of operation. There's a guy who charged me more amount than the one is written on the ticket
From Pretoria stopped at Johannesburg station for 10 minutes with Intercape sleep liner on our way to Eastern Cape
Needed to take the Gautrain to Sandton otherwise not much to add, can add that I felt quite safe at Park Station
Got in from Durban with the Eldo coach just before 7am and it was pretty organised. Not overly crowded and safe.
Still as busy but it seems it is detoriating everyday, but you still get your long distance bases here
It's safe and clean inside but they must service excelleters because most of the time is not working
I was served by cashier Andile she's so lovely and dedicate to her work.wish to visit again
Always wonderful to pop in-out at Wimpy Park Station now and again for a regular coffee.
needs baggage trolley and some warm food, cant eat chargers ....Intercape needs attention
unsafe, unregulated, unprofessional, chaos. AFOID AT ALL COSTS. its a dangerous place.
Good for long distance transport. However the surrounding places need to be cleaned.
Is a busy place to help everyone to get a taxi to travel anywhere you want to go
Parkstation gates are opend late at 05:30 which is not safe for bus travellers
The parking meter is just pure extortion..other than that,it's a safe place
Not much change a bit of renovations but nice and clean, Busy as always
Clean and Safe .... big up to the security officer's for keeping order
Nothing much to say about the place, I arrived late in the evening..
The busiest place ever especially during the festive season. …
Accessible and safe. The worker are really friendly and helpful
The place is fully packed and very few security guards around
May CUM Books open a new store on Park Station if God will.
It's big enough and clear to be able to see ur destination
