Not entirely sure how to divide a review between The Forks and Johnston terminal as I think they come as a package deal but for me one of the most interesting parts of Johnston Terminal is the tourist bureau. There are so many things that I learnt about my own city/ province from Indigenous Traditions and festivals ( Listing Of Pow Wows - on my calendar for August !!! ) to architectural downtown tours. Another to do ! From there you can go on to see the various shops and eateries almost all small local vendors ( oh donuts - I’ve never had a fresher donut in my life - think your grandma’s freshest bread but Shazam your magic wand and add salted caramel or savoury cream cheese and don’t despair if you’re r Gluten intolerant they’ve got you covered as well !! I didn’t catch where there coffee comes from but it was pleasant and made for a good morning snack. As well the Antique mall is an unexpected but great addition to the retail line-up even if your just window shopping. Only tricky thing at Johnston terminal was the washrooms. My friend and kids needed one at the same time that hundreds of others did and maybe it was just us but for such a touristy spot we could only find the one with 4 stalls ?? Seems a little under planned but maybe we missed some and other than that a really enjoyable way to spend the day. As I said at the start it’s all connected to the forks via out door paths so if you’re not from Winnipeg just think of Johnston terminal as The Forks and give it a visit !

Part of the historical Forks set of buildings. Walking around here inside and outside of these buildings, it's easy to imagine a time when it was stacked with crates of furs and other goods destined for trains or the York boats. Integration of modern and classic is extremely well done! The riverwalk, the ceremonial grounds, the astrological circle, the old draw bridge, and of course all under the shadow of the amazing looking National Museum for Human Rights. If you visit Winnipeg, dont miss the forks and the buildings like the Johnston Terminal. Its history right in front you.
Hasn't changed much in many years which is pretty nice. It's always clean, a few washrooms to choose from. Single and accessible washrooms on the main floor. Multiple stall washrooms upstairs near kite and kaboodle. Has a coffee shop (Espresso Junction) with some seating for 2-4 people per table. Has a restaurant (Old Spaghetti Factory). A few shops and local art gallery on the main floor. Antique shop downstairs will many rooms. Toy store and Global Connections upstairs to buy crystals, insence, jewelry, clothing etc.
My children's favorite place in here is Kite and Kaboodle, on the top floor. Other than Toad Hall, this is one of the best toy stores in Winnipeg. It also has a great selection of games, puzzles, and cool little things for stocking stuffers for adults. My favorite place is the Antique Mall in the basement. Oh my gosh, I could browse this place for hours. It's like a museum that you can touch and pick up. Hands down the best place for unique jewelry, politically incorrect books, and gorgeous vintage furs.
Fantastic place to walk around when you're at the Forks. Old Spaghetti Factory is tasty and fantastic for the price BUT make sure you reserve first in order to get a table. You will be able to outrun the old people but they weren't born yesterday, they reserved. If buying anything from the stores, make sure you hit a promising vein in your gold mine because most things are outlandishly expensive. Parents, if you are tight on cash, DO NOT take your kids to the second floor. You're welcome.
I get it, this is a premier tourist destination, but it's also a glorified shopping mall, as such being charged exorbitant prices for parking is frustrating. I get the reasoning, but it sucks none the less. Johnston terminal itself is a classic, with the main anchor tenants drawing in large crowds. The revamped travel manitoba area very well done. Kudos to the designers. Kite and kaboodle is a must visit.
It's a little bit quieter here than at the Forks market. Most of the stores have been here for 20+ years. If you're visiting Winnipeg and want to do some local shopping this is a nice place to check out. There are 2 floors of shops, plus a basement which is an antique & vintage mall. Visit the antique mall first because you can't bring large bags in, and shouldn't bring open drinks and food in either.
Johnston terminal is always an interesting place to shop because they have one of the best antique shops in the basement as well as one of the best children's toy shops in the upstairs but what really impressed me was the store called Global Connections... What a great place! Always enjoy shopping at the forks and Johnston terminal shouldn't be missed if you're shopping there
A nice structure filled with an interesting assortment of small stores. Our family always walks through while visiting the forks. Home to the Spaghetti Factory, possibly the best deal in town. Bike store many boutiques and of course kite and Kaboodle the kids toys they're upstairs that I'd always a hit. It seems that every time we go there there is something new.
I don't get the Johnston Terminal. Historically, the store selection in the building has been pretty terrible so much that people tend to overlook it when they visit The Forks. Given the renovations and renewals that have been going on at The Forks over the past few years, hopefully it leads them to revitalize this building and spruce up its occupants.
Ok, the picture posted is a view from Johnston Terminal towards the Forks market. This is a historic train terminal preserved and turned into shops cafes and restaurants. It’s kept very clean and has very unique shops inside. The few times I’ve been here this has been an area that has had less traffic, even with the cafe being busy.
Popped into the Forks for lunch, they have an original Pancake House restaurant that serves awesome giant apple pancakes. Took a walk down to the river walk to enjoy the views. Unfortunately it was under water temporarily but know that will change when the river drops. Always a beautiful spot to check out the sites.
The Forks are pretty much a tourist trap. High prices, crazy paid parking. Much better to visit old St.Boniface across the river. You park on a side street for free. Nice restaurants, cheese shop and you can see where the rivers meet just fine. Usually without the pan handlers, buskers and noise.
The shops at Johnston Terminal are very ecclectic. If you're looking for fashion there are several small boutique shops available. Don't forget to check out the second floor where Kite n Kaboodle Toy Store is. Have a coffee or lattè at Espresso Junction cafè or dine at The Old Spaghetti Factory.
It was very sad to make the trip today and pay for parking only to be asked to leave for having a medical alert canine with me. I told security that the door clearly states service dogs are welcome but they did not seem to know enough English to understand the severity of their discrimination.
Went to the Spaghetti Factory, a well established restaurant. As good as always. The restaurant offers gluten free options as well, a nice option when gluten intolerant. The restaurant itself is in the old Johnston terminal. Lots if history in the building and in the surrounding Forks area.
The Forks is one of the preeminent shopping dining and people watching locations in Canada. Constant activity and close to the River Walk. Adding great food and drink establishments, always packed on weekends but weekdays offer an opportunity to really get to know Winnipeg and the people.
Nice, however I preferred The Fort next door over what this Building offers. That being said, the lady at the Manitoba information center was a wealth of knowledge, spent an hour learning about the Province, so for this tourist, all the time spent in that area was rewarding.
Heart of Winnipeg. Great place for a walk, ice cream, local artists shopping, skating, Salsa Sundays in the summer, water trolley rides and more. Was pleasantly surprised to see Jenna Rae Cakes shop there and Mcnally Robinson bookstore. Great addition to the Forks.
Always able to find something at Johnson's terminal to purchase at my buddy's Antique Mall everything from vintage kitchen sink to able to have dinner on and everything in between customer appreciation day was awesome juice dinky's coffee perfect end to the weekend
Wonderful coffee shop, art gallery’s unique stores Christmas, toys games and puzzles. A Local made bike shop one of the best. The Old Spaghetti Factory loved by locals. Your visit to the Forks would be incomplete without a stop at the Johnson Terminal.
This is now more than a tourist trap. This is a reflection of winnipeg and the small businesses making a name for them selves in a big way. The open beer garden lets you pick a local brew and grab any kind of food you want in creative open space
Have to say it is very sad and empty on this side. Definitely need more in there!!! Hopefully there will be some new businesses in the future. Paid $4 in parking and barely anything to see. We do enjoy the Forks but......we want to see more. :(
Great place to warm up in the winter or cool of in the summer of you are at the forks enjoying the out doors. There is a variety of different shops and restaurants. Perfect place to go with your significant other to enjoy a weekend or evening.
Lots of food options on the main floor and tasty beer. The people at Prairie grass bakery were so nice! I ordered a side salad from the Italian place, and friends got wood fired oven pizza, breakfast, ice cream and mini donuts. All the food
Badly posted, hard to find your way around. I need to use a ramp to get up stairs and they 'camouflage' the ramp entrance from ground level so it is hard to find. It is a nice gentle ramp but that makes it long so there is a switchback
There's lots of homemade Goods sometimes a flea market on the weekend local produce all sorts of clothing and souvenir shops pretty little place to spend the day just looking around and checking out the interesting history of the forks.
From different art galleries to various kind of souvenir shops, clothing, books, coffee shops, etc.... it's impossible not to enjoy a visit to this place! Even be sure to check out the antique store downstairs! Absolutely interesting!
There's a lot of nice stores! We loved the antique mall and the games store. You can seat at the "Expresso" to drink a good hot chocolat, enjoying the vien of the Forks or you can eat a really good food at the Old Spaguetty Factory.
The Johnston Terminal is a great place to shop for art, antiques, toys, pricey bicycles and a few other novelty stores. The coffee place on the Main level is a great place to get away from the bustle of the larger Market Building.
Success and disappointment. Zorba the Greek closed out but fish and chip vendor was good. Antique and collectible place is always good but its hard to find someone to help when you need assistance. They lost a sale as a result.
Lots of really neat shops and Antique stores. Kite a mind kaboddle is probably the best place to find those hard to find toys. Their selections are unreal. Love this terminal, you can eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory then shop.
This lively market of independent shops and restaurants is an attractive and popular gathering spot that has live buskers inside in the summer, an outdoor skating rink in the winter. A bit pricey but it's a welcome oasis.
Very tourist-ie and I love the new little boutiques. However you have to know you can go upstairs to the world shop purchase trinquettes from around the world plus clothing and downstairs to check out the antiques.
A great use of the old railway station building. Lots of one of a kind stores, featuring art work, jewelry etc. The Spaghetti Factory is located on the main floor of the building, great food at a reasonable price.
Trendy shopping district at the Forks. If you're looking for something unique, this is likely going to be the place you'll find it. Can get extremely crowded at times - patience may be needed when shopping here.
Great place for a visit if your around the forks winter or summer. Good coffee counter and lots of interesting stores to wander around. And there's a free shuttle bus #1 that take you downtown which is handy.
This is by far my favorite place to visit at the forks. I always stop I and check out the building. So many great stores, I don't think alot of people realize. I never walk out of this building empty handed.
I liked the small local stores in the mall. Different from other malls. Foodhall has many different kind of cuisines. Personally I loved the Philly chease and stake. There was lots of space for people.
This is a cool terminal. The best the city has to offer. It has all the cool terminalesque items, and a handy for guide I think! I haven't actually seen him, but a friend once said something about him.
The terminal has a lot of nice shops. Rather expensive. Has a nice coffee bar and restaurant . Located at the forks which is a cool local tourist venue. Get there early to get a parking spot .
Great coffee. Simple and straightforward menu. Good location to sit and chat. And of course, located right inside a great place to walk around, shop, etc. Some of the best coffee in town.
The only problem with the Forks area is finding affordable long term parking. I believe they need to add more long term parking. Johnston Terminal is a great old historic building.
It's a historical, Winnipeg icon. If you haven't been, suggest you check it out at least once, while visiting the Forks. Lots of great shops to explore, and a free museum as well.
We had great time there after eating breakfast we went to give aways roses for early Mother's treat for Moms and then ended the Fellowship with prayer for each other and Winnipeg.
Cool hipstery little stores and a few restaurant/coffee shops. You can't go into the antique area with a backpack or food/drink though. Makes sense but a little disappointing.
We went and had a great dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. A fabulous first summer season day at one of Winnipeg's premier attractions. It's all about family and friends!
Love the shops at the Johnston terminal. The coffee place is a great go-to any time of the year, whether you're looking to grab a tea or a hot cup of coffee. Just lovely!
Although this area is probably much more enjoyable and busier during the summer months even during the winter walking around was nice. Good selection of food and shops
Love this place, great food, looks and beer! During winter there is a skating rink outside. Spaghetti Factory is a must go to place for anyone. Great for families.
Shops are limited, but the atmosphere is quaint. It has a charming rustic feel that permeates the decor of the building. A great place to get lost on a rainy day.
Having lunch at The Old Sphagetti Factory and as usual delicious, great service, beautiful surroundings and set in the beautiful surroundings of The Forks.
We had lunch on the patio of The Old Spaghetti Factory. Beautiful day. Good service. We shared a sandwich and sweet potato fries which was delicious.
Great area for visiting especially if you're a tourist. Awesome selection of mom and pop stores. There's a cool little antique shop in the basement.
Love the Johnston terminal. Great shops and the old spaghetti factory. Much better than the actual forks and now that it's just a bar in the forks
Great little shops to look at, ate the Old Sphagetti Factory. Great food. Nice little cafe inside but didn't stop as we were on our way to dinner.
One of my favourite spots in Winnipeg! Especially the cafe in the bldg called Espresso Junction - awesome coffee, treats, and excellent service!!
Checked out the antique all in the lower level and then had lunch at one of the restaurants located there. Parking can sometimes be a hassle.
I was her for the first time in a few years last week. There are a few new stores which look cool. White pine bike shop is nice new addition.
Historic site with many small touristy shops and lots of great food options. The Forks has a craft beer and wine area that's always hopping.
Amazing strides the forks have taken. One of my go to spots for walks in the summer. Fools coffee alone makes the terminal 5 for me. …
Lots of cool shops to visit. Espresso junction is a great place for coffee. They now serve Oh Doughnuts and sell their own roasted beans.
Took the historical river tour. VERY interesting facts about the city. We were once the "Little Chicago". A must do trip. Bucket list...
Nice shops with various items to buy. Various types of ethnic foods to choose from. Great place for a visit. Especially on Canada Day.
Very open and clean. Went later in the day and walked around. Found free parking not far from here but it does fill up rather fast
Interesting place with some different shops and eateries. Good place for walking and sightseeing. Took the trolley tour. Wad fun.
Lots to see and try. Great choices for food, and drinks.great place to find a unique gifts. Friendly staff, and clean bathrooms.
Love this place. Great food and beer. When my parents visit, they always want to come here. Lots to do during the whole year.
Always love this part of The Forks. Quieter than the main terminal and you can’t go wrong with the antique store downstairs!
Always seems to be the coldest of the year when we visit. The walk from the parkade to the old spaghetti factory was good.
Wonderful selection of food venders and stores. Lots of the vendors do homemade yummy food. Photos are from the roof top.
Coffee Junction has great coffee! I always stop there while at The Forks or run in when in the area. Friendly staff too!
Beautiful surroundings. The river area is great for walks and photoshoots. The pancake house near by has great breakfast
Has really improved with a great selection of restaurants and shops definitely worth checking out if you’re visiting.
This place has everything shops restaurants coffee shops food courts and a great local pub. All in classic buildings
The place has a nice bicycle and toy store inside. Very clean and a good placento just chill and have coffee
Great building and a cool place to check out. Could definitely use a few more restaurants or pubs inside.
Visit the very unique shops in the Johnston Terminal, or enjoy your favorite beverage or a quick bite.
Lots to see. Compliments the other facilities at The Forks. Excellent visit and evening out.
Located at the Forks. Houses lots of interesting shops. Spaghetti factory is located here.
Kite and Kaboodle is such a great gem of a store and loved Harrison's coffee as well!
Lots of new shops and great food especially the are where you can get a fish dinner.
Very nice enjoyable supper. Old Spaghetti Factory is still a favorite ! …
The stores inside are pretty fun, but there's not much action anymore.
It's still an amazing place. Lots to see and do in any season.
Always a great place to walk around and watch/meet people.
Kite and kaboodle is always a great time in this mall
We went to a restaurant called The Spaghetti Factory
Interesting choice of tenants. Will go again.
Good place to visit in downtown Winnipeg .
Good drinking hole not very kid friendly
Good place to chill with friends.
Awesome place to visit!
Nice food selections.
Awesome antique mall
