This school has gone so far down hill. It is very sad because it has so much potential. After graduating I realized I had absolutely NO idea how to function in the real world. They do not teach you anything you need to know. I was so embarrassed when I started college. They don't teach you any life skills whatsoever. I had to learn how to do taxes from the absolute basics because that word was never even mentioned to me in school. I transferred here as a freshman from a different school. I was in a Sophomore math class at Juan Diego, but they said they didn't let freshmen take classes in other grades so they just threw me into an advanced algebra class, which I had already taken in 8th grade after I had already been doing good in geometry. Also, you would really think that having a uniform would lower the amount of clothing related distractions, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Almost the whole staff spends way too much time just trying to find something wrong with your appearance. I had teachers that would literally spend the first 20 minutes of class walking around doing uniform checks. If your shoes weren't black or brown you got detention, shirt not tucked in, detention, if they found out you didn't buy your clothes from their shop, detention. The school also favors anyone who has parents that donate to the school. Those kids got away with doing drugs on a regular basis, but anyone else was automatically expelled. Don't waste your time or money here. It really isn't worth it.
We enrolled my daughter at Judge, as a least worst option. She has ADD and needs a lot of support, both at home and at school. We have not found Judge to be supportive of any student outside of the perfect little kid. Judge is a school where the rules are what is important, not the kid. If your socks don't match, you go to detention. If your shirt isn't tucked in, you go to detention. If you hug someone of the same sex, they wonder if you are gay. Judge will crush a student academically, if they step out of bounds. If you want your child to go to college, Judge isn't the right school for you. If your child is a person, who is slightly different, then go somewhere else. Rather than the school being there for the student, they believe the students are there to serve their silly little rule book.
Going to Judge was literally the best thing that ever happened to me. Not only did it prepare me for college academically, but professionally and socially as well. I made the friends of a lifetime there and was able to participate in professional organizations like Junior Classical League and Rotary Interact. I know a lot of people don't like Judge because it is strict and rule oriented, and it's true that if you cannot follow the rules, you won't fit in. But honestly, I loved how strict Judge was and I think more students should wear uniforms and be taught proper manners. It made me a better person and it's not like it crushed the social scene at all either. I loved my Judge experience and I was honestly sorry to graduate.
i was just walking by, i was walking my dog, to be exact. i just was holding some ham that the brand is oscar mayer i would suggest that its good. i walked past the school there was a crack in the sidewalk and i dropped the ham on my dog! i had to go into the school to wash off the ham from my dog. the staff was very rude! the students were laughing at me too. it reminded me of being bullied when i was a kid. would not suggest walking by this school
I hate this place so much. They're still sending us to school in the middle of a pandemic. Even with no pandemic, I'm still so unhappy at this school; I'm so depressed when I walk in the doors. The teachers here don't care about anyone but themselves and their pay. When I leave this school when I graduate, I will never come back here nor look back on it fondly. Save your money, parents. This place clearly is not worth the money.
If you are looking for faculty, staff, and an administration that will care for your student as an individual, challenge them academically, provide them with opportunities to develop and grow in all areas of their lives, and partner with you as a parent, then Judge is where you and your family need to be! They truly live up to the school's motto of, "Cura Personalis," care for the whole person.
I moved to Utah in 2014 and joined the Judge community in 2018. After attending Catholic school growing up in Tennessee, I did not expect to find myself working for one so many years later. I'm proud of our school, our students, and our staff. As an educator who has been critical of Catholic and private schools in the past, I believe Judge prioritizes equity, inclusion, and social justice.
I am so sorry I sent my son here. Among a long list of negative things, my sons counselor signed him up for senior math. This after 3 years of Ds in math. I called and tried to switch him into something less rigorous. The counselor said it was too much work to make a change. After spending $ 40,000 in tuition, Judge really doesn't care if my son succeeds :-(
As a Judge alumnus, I wanted to give my own children the opportunity to be part of this great community that is academically excellent while also supporting development of the whole person. My daughter, now an alumnus, too, is thriving in college, while my son just started as a freshman. Our family has not been disappointed.
I never attended, but I have lived across the street for more than two years. I was worried about having a bunch of high school kids around all the time, but they have been nothing but respectful and kind. If all of the teenagers in the country acted like these ones do, we would be living in a much better place!
If you think you know what a private, Catholic school is like, Judge will change your mind. Being new to Utah, we were so impressed by the high level of diversity and inclusion. We aren't Catholic, but there was no comparison when it came to a high quality education and personal support for our children.
I became an atheist because of this school, not to mention that there are maybe two qualified teachers. Also, if you come here, you give up all your constitutional rights and are subject to whatever they want you to do.
Graduated in ‘59. This school gave me the basis for a successful life in international banking & finance. Looking back, it clearly set standards that have served me very well no matter where I was in the world.
Judge has been an exceptional place for academic and personal growth. The entire faculty and staff demonstrate an investment in each and every student and show genuine care for them.
Wonderful institution for learning and personal development. It is truly a place where each child can be themselves and thrive in appositive environment.
I am a student here at Judge and I feel so welcomed Everytime I walk though the doors. The staff works hard to make sure you are ok.
This is a school that cares for each individual student in terms of their academic, emotional, spiritual, and social experiences.
An amazing school with not just an amazing academic opportunity but also an amazing social and sports oppurtunity
Horrible. I have absolutely nothing to say about this HORRIBLE school. Coming from someone at Juan Diego now.
Beautiful stadium with beautiful views but brutal in the afternoon sun. Bring your sunblock and an umbrella.
My alma mater and send my kids, too.
Can't wait to go here next year!
1 star is generous, dont go here
