A downtown drinkers staple in Utah. A place where everybody knows your name. The setting is more reminiscent of a small locals bar on the East coast, with ambience and style of an authentic Jazz bar. The bartenders can be surly, but this isn't Chili's. Jazz and blues are usually playing on the soundsystem and it plays perfectly with the ambiance. Greg the bartender/owner has that old, wise soul you need when you just got dumped or lost your job and day drinking is on the menu. Weekend evenings attracts the college crowd and with that comes longer lines and a lack of space to sit. The outside patio allows smoking so that can be a selling point for some, and a con for others. All in all one of my favorite spots to stop into when I am in town.

Scott the bar tender was not very friendly and did not make us feel very welcome. I know that sounds like the typical American thinking the world owes them something. But hey, is it too much to ask for a little hospitality when I'm giving you my hard earned cash for overpriced drinks? The dirty Martini had about as much brine as...well it was just gross. The tequila sunrise was heavy on the tequila. If we were playing bartender Russian roulette then we splattered our brains all over the other patrons...of which there were few. The atmosphere was a bit drab and dreary, etc... I feel like I'm on a bit of a snowbalking negativity roll here so lets change gears. This bar is just average. You can and should find somewhere better. I'm done.

I visited this cool bar i thought it would be on my birthday. I decided to go here with a few friends. However, as soon as I walked in i had rude service from the guy bartender who wore a hat and glasses. Because he saw a vape in my hand while i was ordering drinks, he tells me to not vape in the building and I said "yeah that's fine". I went to go play pool and was drinking my beer like normal and this guy bartender was straight staring me down. I didn't appreciate the service from him, and I regret going there. Too bad, since it could've been a good bar overall. The atmosphere of the place was cool!

4 solid stars. Mostly older people come in, no problem there. Just a bit stuffy is all. Been around a while. My buddy John used to own the place back in the day. Roomy. Very long bar and great drink selection. They make a great Tom Colin's. You probably have no idea what that is. An old East Coast drink. Ask for it. Give it a try if you dare! Haha. Its fruity and refreshing. Parking here is cool. I was there on a late thursday night. Crowded. Good vibe. Just above dive joint if you ask me. I've been in some real dive joints around the world too. It'll be a fun time because there's drinking. Ha!

Terrible service. Bad vibes. Walked in on a Saturday night, sat down at a table across from the bar. The Bartendar asked me to literally clear the table for him, to stand up and bring him the glasses that were left there before us. We sat at the table for another 10 minutes and not one person asked us if we wanted a drink or anything at all. It was 10pm so they weren't too busy.. just an awful experience.

  • Wesley

Prices are cheap and atmosphere is good EXCEPT: The bartender with the fedora and glasses seems to be inconvenienced by anything. Another patron on the other side of the bar pointed out to him that I needed service and he had the audacity to moan about someone ordering for me. If your bar is busy then you're making money. I'd figure a man of his age would get that. Being a jerk gets you nothing.

Great spot for a beer and encounter with friendly staff. Go here if you are looking for a fun and relaxing bar experience. Also, the guests during my visit were all really kind. Some places bring about a certain patronage! Cheers! From reviewing other posts I highly encourage anyone to post their experience as it seems attention has been given to account for previously poor customer service.

  • Aaron Aleamoni

Bar tenders ignored me when I tried to order a drink so it took a while to get a beer. Then I went up to the bar and she immediately asked if I wanted to close out, i said yes. She then took a couple drink orders from some people next to me, made their drinks then closed me out. I stood there waiting for quite a while. Next time I want bad service and a $5 PBR I'll go somewhere else

My pal Erich and I attended juniors and had a wonderful experience! Randy gave Erich some excellent recommendations and Scott gave me a excellent drink reccomendation! This is the best service at a bar you will receive in SLC! If you want a good conversation, 5 star service, and exceptional professionalism go to Juniors Tavern! Have a wonderful day everyone :)

  • Tyler Dasch

2 stars because it was clean. The bar tender made a call to say that I was to drunk to serve ( literally only had 2 drinks for the night) it could have possibly been my 2 friends but I felt like the man was very rude. After turning us down he basically just tossed our IDs at us and told us to find somewhere else to get our last drink. Very dissapointed.

  • John Draper

One of my favorite bars. It is simple and friendly. They only serve drinks, but you can bring food in from outside and there are several restaurants nearby. I like it because they usually play jazz and blues music, and you can always strike up a conversation with a stranger.

  • johnny utah

Visited this local pub several times over tbe past week and every time have been greeted by a seasoned, pleasant bartender who knew local lore and was privy to the guts of this town. Not a college scene. Not a poser scene. Authentic, real life citizens of SLC! Go visit!

  • Joan Arata

Junior's is the greatest neighborhood bar in Salt Lake City. The atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for a casual, friendly, and quiet place to have a have a drink, chat with friends, or read the newspaper. Everyone feels welcome. Thanks to the great bar tenders!

  • Lauren Karcz

The owner Greg, was very friendly, down to earth and spent time educating us about the state of Utah. It's a very clean place and you can tell he genuinely takes care and loves his bar. Great low key place if you're looking for a beer and not an expensive price.

  • Jacquelyn Anderson

Had a 7 1/2 hour layover and found this amazing little bar, had great conversation with the bartender Lynne and all the regulars tonight! Made me feel comfortable and welcomed the whole time! Definitely will visit again when I'm back in the area!!

  • James Pedersen

Cash only, chill place. No kitchen, but they are cool with you bringing food in, so grab a sushi or a burger nearby. Good place for a quiet date or a relaxed night. Clean, no nonsense drinks downtown. One pool table if that's your thing.

  • J. Janis

Very chill vibes. Greg, the owner, has been in the bar business in SLC for decades. There is an overabundance of beer selection and flavored liquors as well as all the classics. You won’t regret coming here for a drink.

  • John Gallo

It’s the only tavern that I must go to when I am in SLC. Friendly and comfortable. I have only had positive good times at Juniors. Strike up a conversation with the owner Greg and you’ll never forget it.

  • Pat Dragon

“Old Greg runs the bar and is an absolute legend” - my fiancé Great dive bar with a straight-to-the-point owner/operator who loves to chat. Fairly priced drinks with a warm atmosphere. Highly recommend.

  • Beth Harbour

My husband and I stopped in at this bar for a drink while on vacation. It was small, casual, and cozy . We didn't get any of the "tourist" looks & felt right at home , Randy was the best !

  • Lourdes Dtodo

Mrs. Bartender was trying to send us to another place because she said that this was a place for neighbors. but we stayed and it is a good place and good beer. …

  • Kohei Fujimura

Randy is one of the most genuine bartenders I've met, in one of the most organic bars I've been to. If you want a chill, local bar this is the place to go to.

  • JR Rodriguez

Small koozie place. If you want to go to a place and have some cold drinks this is the spot. They do not offer any food but that's okay good spot to drink.

  • Joe

Best kept secret in salt lake. This bar is just my favorite. Old jazz music always playing, it's just magical. Quiet, simple, cheap drink prices.

  • Eric Hardy

Walked in, waited 10 minutes even with a slow bar. Older female bartender was far less than friendly. I walked out without even ordering a drink.

  • Alex Baca

A bit small, but cozy. Has a nice patio area. The pool table area is a little compact, but nice to see decent house stick selection and chalk.

  • k kai'a pfeiffer

Best cash-only bar in Utah. All the bartenders know you by name and make you feel as welcomed as if they were hosting you in their own home.
