Following the death of my son in Hallandale Beach Florida, I retained the services of David Heffernan to assist me in a wrongful death case against the city of Hallandale Beach and their Police Chief. David used the evidence gathered by my private investigator, Mark J. Murnan of Complete Legal Investigations, to place in front of the City of Hallandale Beach's Legal Team, just how poorly their Police Department was being managed. By showing that they: Never conducted an investigation of my son's death; Allowed the officer involved to return to work a week later without even conducting an official review of any kind about the incident; Deposed the Chief of Police under oath who stated that a complete Incident Review had been conducted per Departmental Guidelines, To have all parties that would have been involved in that Incident Review, testify under oath, that an incident review was NEVER conducted; To have the lead investigator assigned to the incident testify under oath that there were no 911 calls related to the incident, only to have us present the transcripts of the 911 calls to them, that were very damaging to their case; To have numerous eye witness statements recorded, as to what occurred on that date, which were totally in disagreement with police statements taken immediately after the incident. David did and excellent job in presenting the facts and getting the maximum benefit for my son's 2 year old child who was left fatherless following his tragic death that never should have occurred. All lives matter in our society and David has delivered. The settlement created a fund for my grandson's education which each year covers all his expenses at a prominent private Christian School. We will be forever grateful for the work David and Mark both performed in our time of need. My son can now rest easier in his grave because GOD saw injustice and delivered the necessary cure.
