RUDE AND ARROGANT We have been coming to this restaurant a lot, reason being we live in Pymble where there isn’t much around – restaurant wise (unless you drive to Lower North Shore area). After tonight’s dinner, my decision is sealed to not ever return to this place. Rang early today (09:30am) to book for a table tonight. I specifically requested for a table on the veranda area. The booking was taken and confirmed by the wife prior to ending the call. We arrived precisely at the time booked and we were greeted by the husband. I explained that I booked a table for six at the veranda area and he then asked if members of our group have arrived and are seated. I responded “no” and he exclaimed “that area is fully booked” - directing us to the empty table at the back section of the restaurant. I explained the booking, however he appeared to have taken no notice of what I was saying and just ignored me. He handed us the menu and after 10 to 15 minutes, he came back and we then put all our orders in one go – including the mains. After around 10 minutes he came back and advised that one of the mains was no longer available. We had to ask for the menu again as he appeared oblivious that we would have to order for another meal. Not sure if he was thinking that we have memorised his whole menu??? After another 15 to 20 minutes, we realised that he wasn’t coming back for the replacement order. Thought that all the mains would now be served except for one poor person who will have to do without, therefore we ended up “flagging” the other waiter and managed to put in that order!!! Two of the orders arrived first and the rest arrived 5 minutes later including what I ordered – a barramundi fillet. The barramundi appeared soggy, soft and not tasting right – to which I think was not fresh whatsoever, just couldn’t bear myself to eat it. The arrogant owner came to collect the plates after we ate. I pointed out the uneaten fish and provided him my feedback. He just looked at me, shrugged his shoulders then walked away. I just couldn’t believe the response I’ve got from him! Bathroom incident My son went to the bathroom. Whilst walking out, one of the waiters was in a huge rush slamming the door open against him (my son) who was hit by the door against the kitchen sink. The waiter apparently took a quick glance and uttered “sorry mate” not even really acknowledging what had just happened. When I went to pay for the bill to the wife who was minding the till/cash register (keeping in mind the reaction I had from the owner husband), I decided to mention to the wife my dining experience with my uneaten fish. Instead of an acknowledgement or apology to my dissatisfaction, she made a whole heap of statement that “the fish was fresh from the market today” and made it out that everyone else who ordered fish enjoyed what they had and that I was the only one complaining. I dine out a lot and order a lot of fish but I am sorry to say… that damn fish was NOT fresh!! I found that the husband owner is rude and arrogant who does NOT care for a paying customer and seems to be rubbing off to his wife !
Last night being a Saturday had booked for husbands birthday and he being Hungarian was looking forward to this dining experience. He ordered beef soup with liver dumpling and the Snitzel. I ordered lamb rack with herb crust and Provencal sauce. The soup, well actually it's just beef stock with an oversized liver dumpling floating in the middle was undercooked with quite a pink tinge to it and absolutely tasteless. The waiter took it away with a questioning look and we told him it was tasteless. Then the main course the snitzel and shoestring fries came, again plain tasteless cardboard. No amount of lemon or salt could improve this meal. On the other hand my meal the lamb rack was delicious. Cooked to perfection, tender with an incredible depth to the sauce/jus, with tasty beans and separate gratin dish with potato and cream topped with a light crusty cheese top. The waiter comes to take my husband's almost untouched meal and is told again its a tasteless meal, and that mine was delicious. Don't you think for a family run business the owner/chef? would be asking why an entree and main meal from the one person is sent back almost untouched. Did the waiter pass on the comment of tasteless meal. I tried a taste of each and believe me TASTELESS is the only word to describe all of my husband's meal. I can only assume the owner was not informed because as we were leaving he happened to ask how was your meal to my husband. And you know the answer. I couldn't get him out quick enough because I knew he would erupt like a volcano and spoil everyones night. What is so annoying there was no apology from anyone, not the waiter, pleasant but not apologetic for anything nor the owner/chef? I'm not sure if he is the chef but he wears chef uniform just turned on his heels headed back to the kitchen maybe in disbelief. The only good outcome from hubby's snitzel was that we asked to take it home. Little did they know it was for our dog!
LONG WAIT, UNFRIENDLY STAFF, TABLE NOT READY AT RESERVED TIME, NO MENUS OFFERED, NO DRINKS WHILST WAITING, NO APOLOGY FOR 2HR WAIT FOR MAINS Unfortunately, I can not recommend Kaiser Stubn after our visit there this weekend (Saturday night). At 5.30pm we called and asked for a table for 5 and were told we could come at 7pm. Upon arrival, the table was not ready (the previous group hadn’t left yet) and the restaurant was packed, no other table we could be seated at. So we were made to wait 15 minutes in the entrance, without being offered a drink. Once we finally got to our table, we had to wait 20 min to finally get some menus, after having to ask multiple times to get menus. There were only 3 waiters for a packed restaurant. As we got the food menus, we instantly ordered our drinks and entrees to avoid further waiting. We got our entrees about 30 min later. We ordered our mains around 7.45pm and they did not arrive at our table until 9pm, without an apology for the long wait. The mains were only luke warm. Whilst waiting such a long time for our mains, we had to chase waiters multiple times to order more drinks. Once we were done eating our mains and they cleared the table, we commented on the outrageous waiting time and only got a smirk from the waiter. No apology or acknowledgement. We left to pay and again mentioned to the owner that we were not happy with waiting 2 hours from when we had our table booked to eat our mains, no apologies again. With a booking for 7pm, we did not expect to get our mains at 9pm. Unfortunately not great customer service. It wouldn’t have been such a bad night/ service, if the waiters& owner had acknowledged the long waiting time and apologised, or offered some snacks whilst waiting for mains/ pre-warned us that it is very busy.
Had a great time here. Would highly recommend a visit and would not hesitate to go back when next in the area (it's quite a drive for us). One thing though, which did not at all intrude on our lovely night, but maybe worth mentioning so you're a bit more careful than us, is our waiters' english was not superb, so when my husband was making some jokes about my liking for salads, he'd thought I'd wanted the salad on the menu, so a huge lovely looking salad came out with the entree's and as much as I'd like to have had it, I knew that I would not have been able to fit a main and of course, the all important desert, in as well. So without any fuss, our delightful waiter took it back to the kitchen. Also, one of our friends and my husband had both ordered dumplings to start, but only one came out. But hey, that's a mistake anyone could make and the waiter was so friendly, fun and nice that it didn't change our enjoyment of Kaiser Stubn, one bit. The fish I had was so tasty and tender and our friends' dishes (knuckle, dumplings) were also apparently delicious. Plus our waiter also recommended a wine from the menu, I think it was the 2014 Nittnaus „Kalk und Schiefer“ Blaufränkisch (Austria)) which was an excellent and enjoyable recommendation. I would also recommend that if you are after some quiet chat time, that you don't sit too close to the large wooden block near the entrance, some of the people having fun with it did get a bit carried away and it was really quite loud. Again, it didn't detract from the wonderful evening, food and service. The atmosphere here is fun, familiar and relaxed. Thank you for making my husbands birthday so enjoyable :-) .
HORRIBLE service by the lady owner, the wife of the Chef-owner. Before coming here, please pay attention to all 1-star reviews; you will find that the owners choose to provide basic service to most people, but HORRIBLE service to others; most 5-star reviews are for the food. When we arrived at the table, the lady owner made multiple mistakes, such as nearly giving items from another table to us. She only gave us the Drinks Menu without the Food Menu (which was a little trick to entice people to order drinks). Then, when we asked for the Food Menu, she got really upset, saying, "You don't have to ask, we will give it you when time comes!". When we asked for the dessert menu, the owner got upset again "we haven't taken your plate yet, and you should not ask for dessert menu."; we asked why, and she said, "This is not a Chinese restaurant". She also said: "our house, our rules". Her behaviour does not display professionalism, and deliberately wanted to offend us as a customer; we receive much better service in Chinese restaurants; thank you very much! We've been to some of the World's finest restaurants and visited multiple restaurants in Germany, Austria, around Europe and around Asia. Still, this is our first time treated this way at a restaurant. The owner believes the family business can survive for 30 years with this type of behaviour towards some customers. Unfortunately, many good restaurants are struggling these days, so best of luck to them.

Rude and pushy service. From the minute we arrived the owner was confrontational. They state on the website if you want the house specials; Pork hock or duck, they must be pre ordered, which we did. When asked for our orders, we were told that no, we had only reserved them. We also phoned the day before to enquire if the pork hock had crackling which we were assured it did. When the two serves arrived at the table, one had a small amount of crackling and the other had hardly any rind on it at all. When we questioned the owner regarding this, he produced a plate and requested we place the rind/cracking on it. No word as to what he intended to do with it. My partner placed his whole hock on the plate and away it went into the kitchen. 15 mins later a cremated piece of deep fried meat was returned to the table. Totally inedible! When my partner complained about this and stated we were not going to pay for it, the owner stated “yes you will” and walked away. He totally ignored any other comments. The man is rude and should stay in the kitchen as he has no people skills. The décor is out dated and tacky. The place if over priced and over rated. Do not go there! I hear the Italian across the road is good
HORRIBLE! One of the worst dinning experience I’ve ever had in my life. First of all, they deceived you from the start as no one explains to you that there is a minimum charge of $55 per person which is also very unfair as they don’t offer you a set menu but a la carte menu with prices. My partner and I order 2 mains and water plus as salad (as I said we were not informed about the minimum charge at any time) the food arrived almost 40 minutes after and one of the mains was uncooked on the inside completly raw meat. I tried to get the attention of the waitress for more than 10 minutes unsuccessfully. We ended up eating only one chicken sntichzel, one salad and a 500 ml water bottle. When we approached the counter to pay the lady informed us of the $55 pp for the first time and when I refused to pay for something we didn’t even eat she screamed on my face so loud that she almost spit on me in front of everybody. She forced us to pay $80 at the end (real price for what we consumed was $44 based on their menu prices) For sure we are NEVER coming back. Horrific experience.
Duck and Pork Crackle dumpling was the highlight. We also had the Pork Knuckle, but the crackling was hard and some skins are gelatinously soft. Sauerkraut tasted really nice, but it is no longer taste sour; so it’s a “kraut”, not a “sauerkraut”. The service was the worst in dining industry that we have ever experienced. The the lady waiter/owner was looking upset servicing our table from the start, and has been responded very rudely & offensively to my friends & family. It was embarrassing for me as I was the one recommending this restaurant. She should not have been there servicing guests at all. I would not advice anyone going to this restaurant, due to the owner’s rude behavior to some guests; displaying behaviors that is no longer acceptable in the service industry. I would have put 3 additional stars if the lady waiter/owner did not go ballistic on our table.

My father had booked our family a table for 3 on this Sunday night. We arrived and ordered our meals as per normal, and just as our meals arrived the restaurant owner’s wife who was busy serving advised us that there was a “minimum $55-per-head charge”. This fact was never mentioned to us prior to the commencement of our order. When my father voiced his opinion in a curteous manner that this was very unproffessional to not advise us of this minimum charge, the boss’ wife responded in a manner entirely unfitting of somebody in the hospitality industry- she screamed with no restraint, saying lines such as “we told you about this 6 months ago”. We have not come back to this restaurant for about 12 months. We retained our curteous behaviour until our exit from the premises, whereas this woman never ceased her rude and screaming tone-of-voice. We have decided that we will unfortunately not return, and were also told “you are not welcome to my restaurant”. Despite this, the quality of the food was high and we enjoyed the experience prior to this event
I was excited to have my home - middle European cuisine. We decided to go there although $55/pp is hard “to eat” if you don’t drink a lot. Beef soup with liver dumpling was amazing! I ordered sautéed duck liver with rice. Ups, it was NOT DUCK just chicken liver… I had goulash. After the first bite I tasted something burnt. I found few black pieces in it. I politely told to the owner/main waiter that it has a burnt taste probably it was burnt when warmed up. He said he doesn’t think and goulash is fine! I said it does taste burnt. He asked me what exactly I want him to do? Well nothing. Just take it off! No apology, no suggestions of choosing something else. The owner has NO polite customer service. He just take advantage that not lots of people know how it should taste. Well goulash shouldn’t have been cooked with burnt onion! No water at the table. Old trick used in some parts of Europe to encourage people to drink something else they have to pay for.
A bit of a different and authentic feeling Austrian restaurant. Having some of the previous reviews, the staff definitely do try to up sell on the garlic bread, this was the first thing we were offered when we sat down. The food was faultless and very tasty indeed, particularly some of their authentic sausages. I started with the mince beef crepe, which was a bizarre mix of with the meat and crepe, but beautifully complimented by the leek sauce. I could eat this all day, everyday! Went for the Platter served in a Wheel Barrow with Kassler, roasted Pork, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut and Bread Dumpling, as I liked the idea of trying a little bit of everything. Again, very happy with this dish, which was tasty and satisfying. A very enjoyable and a bit of different dining experience. Not the cheapest though, which puts into the more of the special night out category for me. Would definitely go back again and take friends or family as a bit of an occasion.
Highly recommend I have lived in Europe and eaten Austrian, Swiss, and German food in Europe. This chef is up with the best Best fresh cooked fine dining German and Austrian food in Sydney All the favourites are there - pork knuckle, sausages, schnitzels and other delicious well cooked meals But why do I give 5 stars? Well, as a Google Local Guide, remember that you could pay these prices just for an everyday fast food take away pizzas places etc with their extras but here for the same price you get real quality fresh delicious restaurant meals cooked by a PROFESSIONAL CHEF! Excellent quality properly cooked food with excellent family service Treat yourself to a lovely take away meal in lockdown And … when you are out of lockdown enjoy what the Austrians and Germans call ‘Gemutlichkeit’ - or a warm cosy friendly atmosphere of good cheer , inside this restaurant straight out of Europe !
I have not had a chance to go to this restaurant in a good 5 to 7 years & the place is stillvery well hidden. The original owners still owns the place and does work cooking in the and the restaurant is still beautifully furbished. The restaurant is a bit expensive but for good reason: the food portions are quite large so you get what you paid for. The food is absolutely delicious as always from their dish known as "the wheelbarrow" to my favourite dessert which they serve on occasion (baked apple strudel with cinnamon ice cream), this restaurant is a must see and a must to go to for almost any occasion. Lastly( for all you alcoholics out there) they have a pricey, yet gigantic beer simply known as "the gumboot", silly because it's a glass beer mug in the shape of a nearly full size replica of a gumboot filled with beer. I absolutely love this place and hope to go again soon
What a horrible experience it is to attend Kaiser Stubn. The staff, in-particular the head waiter/manager is incredibly rude. There is an overwhelming arrogance he shows no care for customer service, no desire to treat patrons of his restaurant well, or no care to see anyone have a nice night. I've been here 3x times and this most recent occasion, my wife and I walked out very offended. The head of service refuses to conduct himself in a professional manner - we actually couldn't believe it when he said "If you dont like it, you CAN LEAVE!". We travel the world enjoying culinary experiences of all kinds, but have never been so insulted in our lives. Do yourselves a favor - instead try Munich Brauhaus @ The Rocks - with live German music, an authentic atmosphere, and fantastic customer service you will feel respected and valued. Sadly, after multiple events - KAISER STUB'N WILL RUIN YOUR NIGHT.
Overrated. I’ve had lots of German meals there and here. This place is good and probably nice if you dint want to travel to Chatswood or the city. However service is terrible. Can’t get a waiter when you need one. And they refused to serve us water despite asking 3 different waiters 4 times. Eventually had to stand up and walk to grab one to almost demand for water. The next table ordered lots of drinks and they got water plus topped up before we got ours and we were there 15 mins before them. Owner/ chef came to table and chided us for not having any drinks before removing the wine glasses in disgust. Ordered our mains twice and yet someone else came to ask what we wanted. Pork knuckle was rubbery not crispy. The bread ball tasted stale. Duck was good though. If not for the way we were treated, they would’ve had 2 more stars.
Had to be only 2 stars because the service was too slow. Admittedly it was Saturday nite however they should have more people on the floor. Having to wait almost an hour for food isn't acceptable especially if you are dining with kids. Once they cleared the table we asked if we could get dessert. The lady said I ll be back with the menu however after 5 minutes of waiting we decided to walk as we couldn't wait any longer. It was clear to us that people that go there often had a quicker and more attentive service than us and this was really disappointing. In saying all that the food is very good. Shame for the service. I have been back last night and the service was attentive and quick. Admittedly there were less people however I couldn’t fault. The food was great as usual.
Great place on if you enjoy Austrian/German cuisine Feeling a bit home sick it is always nice to know of a place like Kaiser Stubn where you can find all your favorites (the ones granny used to make). I have eaten here on a number of occasions. The food is quite representative of traditional cooking in those countries. As ordering the goose (Martinigansl) was a bit to involved for our little group - one had to find 3-4 people with the same taste for goose to pre order - I settled for the duck. It comes with the same traditional garnish as goose normally does. I was not so sure about my choice until I tasted it. The duck was prepared to perfection. Everybody had a good time and enjoyed the food. I guess we cannot blame the restaurant for overindulging.
Great food and atmosphere. I have a gripe with ordering water. They sell you mineral water from a fountain by default. You have to specifically ask for tap water. I mean what is wrong with water in Sydney. It's perfectly drinkable. I like paying for beer but not so much for water. On top of that the billing waitress wanted some tip. I mean really!. This is another gripe. Food was great. Best pork knuckle I have had in a while. Beer was awesome and cold from the tap. The chef brought thimself brought out the dessert which was great touch. We will go again but not so soon. Still getting over being ripped off for mineral water we didn't want. Please ask us whether we want mineral or tap water.
My wife and I visited with our 3 month old on the 16th of January, the night this restaurant came back from their Christmas break. The food here was beautiful and it really felt like we were dining in someone's house, and while the service was wonderful the wait-staff (which included the owner) were run off their feet. Maybe they didn't expect to be packed for their first day back, but it did feel that they were teetering on the edge of disaster. Overall it was a lovely place to dine out, but I do feel that they would benefit from more floor staff to make the environment seem more relaxed and homely, which is obviously their aim. When I'm back in the area I'll visit again for sure.
This place is locked in a time warp. Food is good, traditional, big servings, high price, a bit over rated. Very large range of imported beers and wines. Seating is very overcrowded. People on both sides of our table constantly buffeted by staff and other guests. Two of our seats had to share a post (see photo). This table should be removed completely from the floor plan to give a less crowded experience to all. Our family has been comming here for decades, but not often. If we ever do it again I will push for a mid week, less busy option. Business card says "Friendly" but don't be mislead, more like Basil Faulty with a Germanic accent, we all get a few laughs out of it.
Went to the Kaiser Stubn last night. We pre ordered 2 pork knuckle and absolutely loved it. Perfectly cooked and great flavour with the sauerkraut yummy. Met Robert the owner, what a nice gentleman. Really looking forward to going back. Value for money and couldn't believe that the pork knuckle was only $35. Couldn't eat it all and had too ask for a doggy bag...lol Thank you for a lovely evening.

Tonight all of our family and extended family experienced a night out at this restaurant like no other! Every Sunday we are together at local restaurants around the area and never have we felt more embarrassed with this restaurants service, arrogance, rudeness and complete utter unprofessionalism. Not only did the owner Robert make us feel uncomfortable and awkward from first sitting down at the table, he went out of his way to dictate to us what we had to order. Never again will we be back! Also, if there was a option on this site to do negative stars this restaurant would be exactly that. One star was being generous.
The chefs know how to cook and everything is tasted and tried before serving. You can tell. Beautiful cooking. BUT that's where it ends. The waiter asks if we would like bread which doesn't appear on the menu. It was offered, NOT ordered by us. It comes out in the form of a six dollar pretzel and 8 dollar potato pancake. We roll with it thinking it is some appetiser, after all we didn't order it and it doesn't appear on the menu. We then get our bill and a surprise: here is 15 bucks for the bread. If this happens with ten tables you do the maths. There is someone's wages. Good food soured by the "bread". :(
Worst experience I’ve had in a long time. Waited 2hours from the time we arrived until we received our food & it was only because we were trying to leave. Staff were incredibly rude! A couple of times we asked for an indication of when the food might come & the response was “it’s coming” no other information given & no apology offered. When we went to pay, there were additional items on the bill & when we questioned them, got the same kind of response that showed absolutely zero customer service skills. Food is was nice, but the atmosphere & treatment we received was absolutely disgusting!
Very busy on Christmas Day. Covid requirements very good. Staff very welcoming. Decorations festive. Fabulous menu and delicious food. Matched wine excellent. This restaurant is a gem hiding behind a very ordinary exterior. We did get a little hot sitting on enclosed balcony despite air-conditioning and fans. Very easy access which suited elderly people with reduced mobility. Overall thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thanks to the chef and wait staff for being open and doing such a stellar job on a public holiday. Our whole family much appreciated the effort and care.
Long serving family-run Austrian/German restaurant in Terrey Hills and a northern beaches favourite. I have been coming here for 30 years and have always enjoyed the fabulous food and excellent service. It is not overpriced either! In all the years, the setup has not ever really changed and the standard has always remained high. Always has a good atmosphere too for larger gatherings and can be equally suited to louder parties and romantic dinners alike. I've certainly done both at different times. Will be back.

Extremely rude waiter. I think he was the owner with Austrian accent. Walked in and he asked if we were eating. We said we weren't sure. He seated us and gave us the menu. After looking at the menu we decided there was nothing on there that we wanted to eat so we asked if we could just have a drink to which the owner huffed and said "I wish you had said that when you walked in as I would have seated you somewhere else" Well maybe show us the menu before you seat us then! There was only about 10 people in there anyway. So I said "forget it then" and we left.
We arrived Sunday evening at 6pm. We had no booking but they were able to accommodate our group of thirteen. The food was excellent when it eventually arrived. There was still no food by 8 pm. Why l gave a lower rating was due to the poor service. The staff should have communicated there would be a long wait but there was no communication. When asked politely it was suggested the lateness was due to not having a booking. There was no apology. If they had more staff and communicated better when there was a problem then this restaurant could be exceptional.
If you want to enjoy a meal tasting and feeling like your last trip to Germany this place is certainly it . From the moment you arrive you see the similarities of a great German restaurant. The service was great and very attentive along with meal serving times quiet quick. Both myself and my partner where extremely happy with our meals, and my partner is from Germany and knows her homey flavours well . If you are looking for traditional Germany food and beer this place is simply a must .
Sadly this place thinks they can treat customers how they want. Faulty towers springs to mind. The service was terrible. Rude pushy smart A $$$$ waiter. The worst type. He really shouldn't be a waiter. The food was passable but very very expensive. We had an after dinner schnapps which was actually like petrol. Sadly will never go again - this restaurant doesn't value their customers and I wonder how long they will continue to be in business. I don't recommend this restaurant.
This German restaurant is located on Mccarrs Creek Road, Terrey Hills. Booking is essential as there is limited seating and the restaurant does seem to be very popular. There is also limited on-site parking. The food and service are excellent. It's advisable, if you plan to have the pork knuckle, to reserve it in advance. We had reserve 5 pork knuckles but had put in an order for an extra two when we arrived. Unfortunately they had run out and had to order something else.
The setting of this restaurant is magnificent and has many beautiful things to look at everywhere. It is Austrian cuisine and some of the dishes are quite nice like the vienner schnitzel. But, I ordered a steak item from the specials list, where I was never told the price and I asked for medium. When it came, it was completely rare and I asked them to cook it again to find that it was still rare. It was not the most pleasant and left an extremely large bill to pay.
My wife and I reserved a table here for my birthday. I ordered the Zigeuner Pfandl and my wife had a pork knuckle. We accompanied the meal with a Gruener Veltliner white wine from the Kamp Valley in Lower Austria. The meal was excellent! We topped it off with an apricot Schnapps. :-) The service was attentive, friendly and bi-lingual. The ambience and decor is very European and could be a restaurant anywhere in Austria or Bavaria. We'll definitely be back!
A really great restaurant with genuine Austrian cooking. Staff is very welcoming and friendly, service was quick and the meals were absolutely delicious! Loved the beef goulash, meat dumplings with sauerkraut, sausage plate. We felt like being back in Austria. Highly recommended.

Food was spot on. Owner's wife - crass and behaved like a complete nutcase, spewing borderline racist statements, which left us all (including my ten year old child) mortified! I'm beyond appalled that she's still allowed to serve customers. A pity that she had utterly destroyed our dining experience. Essentially we had paid money to be verbally abused. Never again.

We had a delicious meal and all the staff were super friendly, great food and service. Beautiful strawberry daiquiri and warm pretzels whilst we looked at menu. Mains 1/2 roasted duck Vienna schnitzel and barramundi finished by chocolate mousse, ice cream with raspberries and banana split. All super.

My family and I have been going here for over 20 years. To this day I have never found a restaraunt that matches Kaiser Stubn for quality, price and atmosphere. Robert (the Austrian owner) has truly made it into a north shore favourite. Will be coming here for many more years to come. My recommendations; - garlic bread/pretzel - pork knuckle - Austrian meat dumplings - schnitzel and potato salad and, - snapper :)
How good is this place and how did I just find it out? Every single dish we had was exceptional. Started with an entree of pork crackling dumplings with cider sauce. The mains were house special pork knuckle (make sure to pre-book to avoid disappointment) and the grilled beef fillet with potato pears. Creme brule for dessert was lip smacking. Great venue, heaps of parking, cant go wrong with this one at all.
I used to come to Kaiser Stubn as a child many years ago and had such fond memories of eating there as a child. Fast forward to today and it has lost none of its charm and the food is better than ever. Best Vienna schnitzel in Sydney, hands down! An institution that has lost none of what makes it great. P.s always be studeling!

Best restaurant in Sydney! Everything you can dream of European food. Legit European culture. Best German beer you cannot get it anywhere else. Robert the most chilled boss and Jona the most funny staff, we always enjoy a great time here. It's definitely our go to after a long day or week. Refreshing! life changing! Dont miss out! Try it if you haven't! You gotta love it!
A family tradition for us, as we love Austrian cuisine, and the authentic and fantastic service over 30 years, with the relaxed atmosphere, allowing us to enjoy our favourites like the Pork Knuckle, Roast Duck, Veal, Schnitzel, and all the sides. So much to enjoy, and never enough space to fill!

The service is good and they served kids food first. The portion size is big. The pork knuckle dish is the must-have at this place. Warm Pretzels with horseradish and mustard were a nice entree although it can be quite filling. There are free parking spaces available at the front of the restaurant. Recommend sitting at the balcony with a nice view of the bushland.
Phenomenal food and very efficient service! Food servings are very generous, great atmosphere. We will be back!

Great atmosphere and layout was very homely. I hadn’t been to a German/Austrian restaurant before and the experience was enlightening. From Goulash to duck, the meals were full of taste and flavours with a meal size the same as if you were at home at a family lunch.

Our family have been coming to the Kaiser Stubn for over 20 years & it is simply the best. Outstanding & authentic Austrian cuisine in a great atmosphere with warm & excellent service. Their roast duck should not be missed. Should be on everyone's must visit list. Nobody leaves the Kaiser Stubn hungry. So many great dishes to choose from.
My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years and they never disappoint. After travelling to Austria and Germany you can really appreciate how authentic this place really is. Amazing food, good beers and friendly professional service. It's a nice family owned business. Best German/Austrian restaurant in Australia.
This place is wonderful and the food is delicious! The staff are very professional. Even the owners were there to ensure all customers are served well. We had such great night here. I highly recommend dining here with you family and friends.

Pretty average. Service is pretty casual to the point where you start to wonder if they care. Lots of attempt to upsell high profit margin drinks and bread. Decor is trapped in the 70s. My dish was nice but v expensive for what was on the plate. Nice to try this restaurant but just wouldn't bother going back.
Nice food drinks and staff. However, the owner has anger issues, and does not treat his staff were well. I worked there as a waiter for a few weeks, and it was terrible. I got yelled at everyday for the smallest things, even spending too much time talking with the customers would give me a massive scolding.
I've been going to Kaiser Stubn since I was a kid. It feels like home, and it's lovely.

A Great Feast of Food !! Delicious. Service & the Venue is a very friendly, family oriented place. The Chef gives his personal, friendly service to all tables and will make sure your dining experience is enjoyable. A great place to bring the family for that special occasion. Especially Birthdays.

Returning here after a decade. The meal was close to flawless. The place was busy and the staff managed to look after us well. Entrée, mains and desserts very well executed. The German wine recommendation went very well with the food. Great experience. The family had a great time. Thanks guys.
This is quite a nice place with good German / Austrian food. Staff are friendly (but a bit heavy on the constant up-sell with the "would you guys like this while you wait" or "how about some of that in the meantime"). Good for groups if you are after something slightly different for a change.
Amazing food anyone who leaves a negative review is nuts. This chef knows his stuff and it is authentic. Service was amazing and all courses came on time. Yes it is outdated and lost in a time warp but so what. An absolute must you won't be disappointed if you like German/Austrian food.
Excellent service nothing was too much trouble and we never had to ask twice for something, the wonderful chef even made an off menu salad for us in minutes. Wonderful food very authentic very generous portions and hood value. Plenty of parking and great atmosphere. Will be back soon!!
Best schnitzels, knuckles and dumplings anywhere. Regulars all have their favorites. However, you do have to be prepared and in the mood for the suggest-sell approach. You only fall for the water trick once. Sometimes when you need a real schnitzel it's the only place to go...
Wanted to love it, as cute place and good food... BUT.. my beef stroganoff has 5 very TINY pieces of beef. FOR NEARLY $30, it was SO disappointing! Also once a big group came, service became poor; was never asked if food was okay and water glasses were empty for long periods.
Good German beer. Good service. Decor stuck in the past, even by German standards. I'm allergic to pork so I ordered the veal. Great tasting but I was so sick after & the next day too. Won't be going back as it seems the meat must have been contaminated by other meats.
Went to a wedding reception here. Servings were massive and great taste. Meat heavy but it is a German restaurant so to be expected! Lovely setting and great service.

OMG...I forgive all the things Germans have done in history! Food, amazing! Geniun authentic cooking, great wine list. I had the South Oz McLaren Vale 2012 Shiraz with the pork....yummy in my tummy. And a night would not be complete without Butterscotch shanps.
Went there last night. Was beautiful authentic Austrian food same as at home! Had Cordon Bleu and Schnitzel and strawberry dumplings. Very good! We went there again last night! Same experience, really great Austrian food and atmosphere! Just check it out!
Great selection of European beers and also genuine Austro-hungarian food. Best food and beer in Sydney. Try to schnitzels, pork knuckle, paprika chicken , dobosh cake , dumplings. Quality home cooked style European food with good euro hospitality
This place has gradually declined in service and quality going there for years now. Average food but overpriced.

Fantastic quality, genuine Austrian cuisine, amazing quality ingredients. We would know my wife is from Vienna and her mom and dad from Austria also love Kaisr Stub'n. Schnitzel, pork kruckle, duck, salads, beer, wheelbarrow, all amazing!
Best restaurant with the most lovely, warm staff. Going there for years and even on the second visit, the owners recognised us! They seem to have amazing memories as they dont take notes and yet the orders are perfect every time xx
An authentic and cosy setting, with fresh tasting beer on tap, seriously hearty and tasty food and really thoughtful staff who accommodated all our requests (including to be moved to a quieter area). Will definitely be back.
german food portions were extremely large. The chef even came out to confirm we were happy and convinced us to order some shots of snapps. Great. recommended to my friend as we had a fantastic night and will be going back.
We have eaten here a few times now, every time it has been absolutely awesome. Crackling dumplings are great. The service is excellent. I eat out very often, this in my opinion, is one of the best restraunts in Sydney.
Wonderful place to eat authentic Austrian food. Friendly staff. Great beer. Parking can be difficult though.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Went there for Valentine's day dinner and can highly recommended the place. Food was fantastic with great german beer. Will definitely be coming back.
Very enjoyable Bavarian food with a great atmosphere. We had roast duck - it was to die for! So tasty and tender with delicious crispy skin. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Best German/Austrian food I eat in Sydney so far! Highly recommend! Lovely host and service, my parent and I felt so welcomed! Thanks for the great food and the nice experience!
The Weiner schnitzel was very bland with not much flavour, was dry and luckily served with potatoes which added moistness. The service was really good and the decor was great.

A great restaurant tucked away in the quite streets of Terrey Hills. If you can be seated in the conservatory area, you even get to watch the wildlife play in the bush.

Once you're done laughing at the reviews complaining about a lack of "cloth instead of paper napkins" (seriously...):
Best place for authentic Austrian food. Chef is great, friendly and pleasant. Good choice of quality Austrian food.
Great authentic German food, the Zürcher Geschnetzeltes ist my favorite. Reminds me of where I grew up …
Seemed like they were disorganised, but credit to them for trying. I'll go back, the food was mostly OK.
