The worst service I have ever received in the 20 years of my adult life. If I can give it minus stars I would. I drove 12 miles to purchase pastelitos because I am new to the area and I miss my Miami food. When I walked in, the attendant (Bertha) had just finished cashing someone out and proceeded to the back. There were three ladies already inside sitting in the back I assume waiting for their order. Seven minutes later Bertha asked for my order. There are now two customers waiting behind me. I tell her I’d like un cortadito, two pastelito de carne and two de queso. I then realize there is a posted sign that reads $10 minimum credit card charge. I ask her how much is my order and she replies it is $7 something. I tell her to give me four more pastelitos and two papa rellenas. She then tells me the total is $24.84. I’m taken back at how expensive 8 pastelitos, two papa rellenas, and one cortadito costs. She tells me it’s fine, I don’t have to take it and she will let me have the cortadito for free. I told her no, I will pay for everything but I will never come here again because the prices are too expensive for what it is. She then started verbally itemizing my transaction and making a scene and belittling me by stating it was me who asked for the items. She then started telling the other customers in the shop how it was my fault for asking for all of the items and further stated that I woke up in a bad mood today and brought it to the store. When she returned with my receipt and CC, I tell her not only am I not returning because of the prices but there should be more than one person helping because not only did I have to wait to be helped but the other two customers behind me have been waiting and someone else had already walked out. She started yelling at me that maybe I should jump to the back and help her since I want to complain about it and what do I care about the customers behind me, it’s none of my business. Wow. I was was floored. I told her my comment is so she can let her boss know she needs help. And I walked out humiliated. There was no need for her to demoralize me or belittle me. I never disrespected her nor did I make a scene. My conversation was with her and not anyone else. As I walked out of the store she continued telling the customers how it was my fault for asking for all of the items. I went back inside and I asked if she was the owner. She said she was not. I asked for the owners name and her name. She replied the owner’s name is Juan and he is currently on vacation and her name is Bertha. I expect a meeting with Juan because Bertha‘s unprofessionalism was uncalled for.

On our recent trip to Jacksonville, I really wanted to find an authentic Cuban bakery to bring home some pastries. Unfortunately, we don't have authentic Cuban food or Cuban bakeries in the Florida Panhandle. Kathy's Cuban Bakery did not disappoint! When we entered, the cases of pastries were beautiful, fresh looking, like a chef's work of art. They tasted even better. I went nuts in there. I bought $97.00 worth of pastries....1 medianoche and 1 Cuban sandwich for the ride back home to the Panhandle , Croquetas, papa rellenas, quava pastries, blueberry cheese cakes, 1 doz. of my very favorite pastries from my childhood (capuchinos), flan Tres Leches cakes, beautiful napoleons, turnovers, ect. Her cakes in the case looked incredible. Everything was beautifully made and tasted amazing. I could tell this place is special . The lady who packed my order was friendly, and kept thanking me. She was so nice. She heated our sandwiches and packed everything safely and carefully for our 6 hour drive home. I am so happy to have discovered this little gem. We pigged out with a smile on our face for the whole drive home, and we have enjoyed the fresh pastries all week at home. Everything lasted very well. We travel to Jacksonville often, so Ill be back! Next time I am bringing a larger ice chest so I'm more prepared for the long drive back to NW Florida. I wanna try it all. Thank you Kathy's Bakery for making this girl so happy. It's the little things that are a joy in life!

Stop by here with my sister while waiting for our boboa tea next door. I was expecting a small bakery with cupcakes and cake mostly, but it was so much more. We were overwhelmed with the selection (in a good way). Since we both are big dessert people, we stuck with unique options. So we didn’t do any of the traditional cakes, or pies. Instead we got some absolutely amazing (sorry, I didn’t get the name of them) colorful jelly, caramel, des leche desserts, cannolis, and empanadas. They were all so wonderful! I am excited to go back and try some more. Side notes: I read a lot of negative reviews about prices and service. There were no prices, but honestly, I will pay extra if need be for small businesses. I felt like I was given a very fair and great price for everything ordered. We actually wanted to leave a tip, but looks to be cash only for tips, so I will remember that for next time. Also, Kathy was an absolute delight. She answered a LOT of our questions since we had no idea what many things were. She was happy and very pleasant when taking our completely random order. I am excited to return. I have worked at small family owned places before, so I understand when the owner is sick, the store is closed. If they are running behind, times change; slow day, you close early. So I understand and respect all of that. It is not a corporation, and I wish others understood that as well.

I will never step foot in this building again. I was headed to a very special event. I decided to get a cake as a gift. I wanted something special. I ended up at Kathy's Bakery. The cakes on display were beautiful. I requested once covered in fresh fruits. The worker/owner grabbed the cake. She stepped to the back and took a few minutes to come back out. I'm soo glad I checked the cake before I left. She taped the cake so it was hard to open it. It looked horrible. The fruits looked all dry and soggy. The apples were turning brown and definitely not something I would gift to anyone. I told her "this is not the cake I wanted." At this point I still needed a cake and of course still trying to support a small business. There was a similar cake in the show case. I told her "I'll take the other one and explained to her my reason for not wanted the cake she had boxed." Her attitude changed she said, "that one is sold." I had no interest in the other cakes and told her, "okay thank you." and was headed out the door. Before I got to the door this woman had the nerves to yell at me in front of customers in Spanish, " tu eres mala, muy mala." (Translated: you are mean very mean) I was shocked. This day was a special day and I was not going to let her ruin it. I walked out and will never walk back in.

Even after reading the bad reviews I decided to give it a shot since most of the bad complaints aren't about the food/coffee being bad. So the average price for a pastry is between 2.50 and 3.50 which is kind of up there. I got three pastries, a toasted bread with butter and a small Cafe con leche. That ran me $14.50. The cheapest thing they have at this place is their best item, Coffee. I won't say it was terrible but it is overpriced. A side note, the restroom had an "out of order" sign but there is nothing wrong with it. A lady asked the owner if she could use it, the owner said sure, handed her some tissue and in she went. It was odd. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. Update : so after tasting the pastries I purchased now I'm truly disappointed. As a Cuban place it's a shame you can't get the tres leches cake right. In addition, the half flan/half cake left Lot to desire. Personally, I think you need to check and see if you're using condense milk in these two products because it's lacking that flavor. The third pastry was a lemon cake, that one was good thank God. At least it wasn't a total waste. One star.

EDIT: My wife and I both got sick from their Pastelitos. I ate one Pastelitos and my stomach started getting very upset. I thought it was just because it was too much sugar because I drank a coke with it. Shortly after, my wife complained of indigestion and an upset stomach. She threw up. My stomach is feels like a knot. That was all my wife has eaten today and I had a breakfast taco early this morning. Very upset right now. Will not be going back. Overpriced and now I'm worried about health code! Just like a bakery in Miami! They've got a very large selection of pastries and sweets. Wonderful Guava and Cheese Pastelitos. They also have a variety of sandwhiches and other foods. It is pretty pricy though. $15 for a half dozen Pastelitos and a can of coke. That should have been about half the price, if not, less. The staff also is not fluent in english, either. Made for a long wait in line and a little difficulty when ordering. So be patient and brush up on your spanglish! Not a place I'd recommend to others but I will be back because it's the only Cuban bakery in town.

I have tried Kathy's multiple times and I've kept going back because I really enjoy traditional Cuban pastries, cakes and coffee. The things I've never liked about Kathy's are that 1. Her prices are not consistent. This morning she charged me $4.25 for a cafe con leche. I joked with her and said wow prices are so much cheaper in Miami, she responded that the price was $4 - well then why did you charge me more? 2. Her general attitude which is clear she doesn't carw about the customer. 2 years ago I ordered a birthday cake for my son. When I arrived to pick it up she forgot to make it. I didn't even receive an apology. Instead she asked me to return in 2 hours (30 min before the party). I didn't even get an apology. The cake had been paid in full 2 weeks prior and she wouldnt even consider just giving me a refund so I could go elsewhere (nor delivering the cake due to her mistake and time crunch). Customer service is a bigger deal than pricing. Imo Like I've said, I go back but certainly not as often as I would if she was a nice, kind person with consistent prices.

I recently stopped by this establishment to try it out. I entered the store and there were two people behind the counter assisting customers that were ahead of me. A gentleman entered and as soon as they finished waiting on the customers that were ahead of me they immediately asked the man if they could help him and turned and just looked at me. Once they had finished waiting on him they took a few moments and then approached me. At that point I was the only customer in the store. From that point it went down hill quickly. They man and woman behind the counter started talking and I had to call out to get their attention. I asked about a certain product and the man appeared to be annoyed with me. I told him that I wanted to get a certain item and at that point they both went into the back of the store and I actually stood there waiting for one of them to come back to the counter. They didn’t and I just walked out of the store. I have never been treated so rudely for no apparent reason. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN. VERY ODD PEOPLE.

***After posting my review following their rude treatment of me while visiting the bakery, #KathysBakeryCafé decided to double down with the rudeness by sending me nasty messages. Posted are the messages they sent. They never apologized for their rude, unprofessional behavior. Note to Kathy P: I can make whatever assumptions I think are correct.*** As others have said, I am very confused how this bakery stays in business. Unless, they’re a front for some shady activities? I don’t know, but it is highly suspicious. I didn’t get to buy anything because the woman’s nasty attitude behind the counter made me run out this bakery faster than Bugs Bunny chased by Elmer Fudd. When I entered the bakery, it took her 5 minutes to acknowledge me. I asked a question about the coffee. Following her nasty reply, out the door I was. I saw the bad reviews prior to going there, but I thought let me give it a chance since it is very close to my house. Well, I got bad customer experience out of it.

I went back again and i stand by my comment ... la senora Barbara is awesome!!! I will keep going over and over again ... dont care i have to drive 5 hours to get to her ... prices are not posted but she will tell you the price of everytjing ... so whatever to haters... she even gave a free pastry she forgot to ring up .. love this place ... love her story she is wonder ful!!! And her food top notch... 9/2022. Don't know what all the bad reviews are all about. She is aloof as most cuban middle age women are but not more than my mom or myself .lol lol pricey but what do you expect she is the only cuban TRUE AND AUTHENTIC CUBAN BAKERY in Jacksonville.... So yes she is going to be more expensive. I loved it will be back on my way out back to Atlanta. I paid $17 for four beef pastries two ham croquettes a stuffed potato and a Cuban cafe con leche ...for both me and the hubby and we LOVED it... She was awesome unique and AUTHENTIC ... Highly recommend Kathy's

  • xime4549

These folks are very deceitful. You normally go to a cafe for a quick reasonably priced bite. I didn't realize that they do not display their prices, you simply order and then they tell you how much it is. For two cuban sandwiches, and two drinks it was almost $30 dollars! That is the most expensive cuban sandwiches I have ever had. When they hand you a receipt they don't even break down the prices. At no point do they tell you any price, just at the and. Yes, I should have asked, but considering that I go to cafe's all the time, I didn't think it was any different. My friend who has been there before, also told me that they change their pricing for the same stuff. It's like they charge more on certain days. Keep in mind, the sandwiches weren't that good to justify the price. At this point, I don't even know how much they were! All I know is that I paid $30 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. Total ripoff.

The bakery is mislabeled: The storefront sign states Kathy's Bakery and Café. Inside the menu is mostly Hispanic AND the items do not show a list price. That might be illegal. Furthermore the owners do not provide a tax receipt of purchased items. The pastries looked good; we bought two but were tasteless and stale. The one bathroom showed a sign: customers only and it was out of order. The TV set was on showing CNN in Spanish. Will these people ever integrate into our English speaking culture? I asked for a café Cubano, but was given a coffee with lots of milk and sugar, too hot to drink. I asked: is this a café Cubano. The old man said, no. He exchanged it without any apology, implying that it was my fault. Lastly there was no pleasant smell one would expect from a "bakery". One star is too much for this place.

  • Lori L

I've been to this bakery many times. The bread is wonderful and many of the pastries are good was well. The lack of stars is because in the past week I have made two trips there only to find the doors locked even though their online information indicated they should be open. This was not just 15 minutes or so before closing this was over an hour. What set me off was on the second attempt there were 2 staff members inside that just looked out and went back to sweeping and cleaning. If you are going to list hours of operation then they should be accurate. Jacksonville traffic is no joke and time and money are spent traveling. Seriously though you stand there with the door locked when you have a customer; just rude and disrespectful. Not sure I'm coming back and this plaza is definitely not well kept either.

Kathy is a marvelous baker! I totally recommend that you get your wedding and birthday cakes here locally housemade instead of at Publix or a corporate chain. Her chocolate items are fab and her fresh flan divine. Please try a pressed turkey sandwich from the panini. Great Cuban bread! If you speak Spanish you can practice or feel at home with beautiful Kathy. Cafe con leche is delicious also. Say hey to Dino Mac (huge leftover 1-ton orange dinosaur from former putt-putt) outside in lot. Classic Jacksonville.

Wayyyyy toooo expensive. So much so that it took me just one visit. My wife and I had: 1 cuban sandwich ( pork had no flavor) 1 chicken sandwich (frozen breaded kind) 2 regular coffees 1 bottle of orange juice ----------------------------------------- $23.00 Their items menu doesn't have a single price listed. EVERYTHING IS OVER PRICED, now I know why. Not even at the end when I paid knew the cost of each item because their receipt does not show the broken down items. What is point to eat here or buy anything for that matter if what they charge is too much. "Es bueno pero no sirve!" Kathy...you saw me once and you will never see me again! 23 bucks for 2 sandwich and 2 coffees...Jesus mija! What a disappointment this visit was... Debut y Despedida...

I love bakeries. I wish I didn't but I do, And Kathy's bakery does not disappoint. More of a Latin twist on your standards like Napoleans. But enjoy the cultural flavors while you are here. Hot Chocolate, Coffees. Cuban bread is used on many sandwiches. I was here to sample the sweet stuff. So far, The Napolean is delish. Plenty of parking and Kathy was a delight with a gorgeous smile to welcome you. I'll be back.

I warn you to stay away. I wanted to find some great Cuban food in Jacksonville. Regretfully, I found the opposite of great Cuban food and I ended up at Kathy's Bakery and Cafe. The food was a mediocre at best. The service started out decent until I got my bill. The problem with this place is the menu doesn't display prices. So unless you ask about every menu item, they can and will charge whatever price they want. Unfortunately for me, I didn't question the prices. I received my bill and thought it was a PRANK. When I questioned the bill to the ladies, they ensured me it was correct. Not only was the food below par but the prices were out of this world. I would stay away from this establishment.

  • May de la Fe-Joy

THEY WILL CHARGE YOU WHATEVER THEY WANT WHEN THEY LOOK AT YOU. This place is a rip off. That's why the prices are not posted. The owners make the numbers up as they go and don't dare question it or they will insult you. The taste is just as any Cuban bakery. Example: I ordered a papa rellena which he said was $3.45 (ish). The total for it was $5 something. He claimed the extra was tax (that's around 30%). Tax in Jacksonville is 7.5%. When I said something the lady got upset. today they felt like charging around $4 per pastry, other times it has been different. I went at the request of a friend. Honestly, people like this should not be in business.

If you're not Latin and don't know what you're looking at you will have a difficult time. I'm Cuban so this place was Disney World for me and everything I tried was awesome! I don't care what it costs, I just want to feel and taste my heritage. Fidel Castro died last night so it is a great celebration day for EVERY Cuban who came here for freedom and a chance at the American dream. The owners should be applauded for leaving their country and coming here to make a life in a different language. I bought 12 loaves of Cuban bread because we were doing a whole pig Cuban style (caja China) for Thanksgiving and I for sure will be back. Awesome quality and authentic!

  • Louis Rojas

No prices on the food. My wife and I went looking for a cake for her birthday. We were the 2nd in line out of 3. It took 2 people to take and make an order. We waited for about 30 min to place our order. When we did the man looked like he didn't want to work. He walked away in the middle of our order. Then the women was still working on the first order. Than my wife asked her a question about the cakes. She rudely replied " can we see I am in the middle of their order and working on yours. Let me finish and I'll help you." When we went to pay WOW almost 50 DOLLARS for two simple sandwiches milkshake and a tiny hot chocolate!!!

  • Yabel Concepcion

I stopped by because we are Cuban and was looking for authentic Cuban bakery. I bought 6 loaf Cuban bread and 6 croquettes . After, my family took a bite of the croquettes it was sour. I called to let her know that the food was spoiled and her response was loud, cursed and had the audacity to call me a lier. Please be aware are read the reviews before or tasting anything from this place so you won't be disgusted. I rate this place a 0 Or F- review.

I can officially say, YES, this business is unethical. I've been charged anywhere from $19 to $30 for the same 4-5 slices of cake. I wanted to include my tip the first time and the lady just added it herself and blamed it on tax. She CHARGED MY CARD MORE THAN SHE SAID SHE WOULD. I've visited the bakery a few times to test the pricing. Each time, I was charged more or less depending on who was charging me that day. The last time, I mentioned it he said each slice could vary. I understand that and I love to support local businesses but not when you're stealing from loyal customers.

  • Gwen Nguyen

These people are the rudest people I've ever met! I called before I came to find out what time they close. I made a special trip and went out of my way to get there in time. When I arrived before closing time, the door was locked and they made me wait in the heat for 10 minutes before they let me in. Even after letting me in, the owner began arguing with me and and said, "I'm the owner, I can close whenever I want to." They never asked what I needed. I liked their cake but refuse to do business with such rude people. If you want to be respected, do not go here.

  • Byron Gonzalez

Hours are wrong! It’s a shame I was excited to find something like this in JAX, but unfortunately due to their lack of customer service I will not be returning and will be finding somewhere else. Hours says they open at 8:00 am on Fridays and I arrived at 8:40 am and it was closed. There was a lady in there organizing breads and didn’t even acknowledged me and proceeded to just to turn off the lights instead. It’s kind of rude if you tell me because you can atleast make the attempt to say we open later, etc... will not be coming that’s for sure!

  • marlon galeano

BAD, BAD, BAD SERVICE!!! No prices listed, EVERYTHING IS OVERPRICED. Do not come you will waste your TIME & MONEY. It takes them almost 20 minutes to make a single order which when there are no other customers. No tax receipt. Sketchy. Again, do not come here unless you want to overpay, BAD service! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHATSOEVER! Oh! And the past three times I've been here the bathroom says "for customers only" but in the bottom it says "out of service" We order tiramisu is was dry, don't have good test, Not a good place to eat :(

We had the Cuban and the Midnight Sandwiches, they were good. My husband had the Bocaditos, he said they were good. Coconut macaroons were very moist. I bought a few pastries and will update my post later. 4 stars because prices need to be posted regardless if, it from scratch or not. I had 2 items missing. This is a business not a swap meet.

the food was DELICIOUS!! True story.. the day I was there, only 2 people were tending the counter and they were somewhat overwhelmed causing a little bit of a delay that got longer and longer as more people kept coming in.. this is a good sign and as I said, the food was DELICIOUS. but $27.00 for 2 sandwiches, 1 hot chocolate, & 2 pastelitos is a bit high, even in today's Democrat economy.. ps: no eggs were ordered other than what's used in the original recipe..

dont know about the pastry but the time said 1845 closing saturday, we get here 20 mn early and two poeple inside look at you like now one was at the door, first the time here and maybe will be the last one, second false advertisement about the hour, employs see you outside and the act like they dont want to see you, so if thats your way to treat your new costumer you loose a whole family new in town, here is the screenshot made it after been 10 mn standing at door and been like ghost for the people inside.

Agree with the review by Mrs. Stone. It was the same experience for me and my husband. They basically ignored us and went in the back, no acknowledgement of our presence and we were the only people in there at the time. Customer service SUCK! So, we left. Also, if they behaved this way with us, I would not doubt they would do the same as the other customer that commented about exchanging the new products with older ones. Check your food quality before you leave if you get any chance at tasting their food.

  • Farah Ingram

The cake is good but over priced. I gave them one star because they don’t provide a good customer service. The lady who works there doesn’t greet you when come in, the owner is very rude, doesn’t even smile to his customers. I ordered a cake and asked to add some fruits on top, the lady told me it’s gona be 44$ for it, so I said yes. After coming back with the fruits on top of the cake, she said 49$. She argued with me cause I told her you said 44$. Anyway, the taste is good but over priced and rude!

  • Blanca Mateo

Will never recommend. I don't even want to give then that one star. They got my order wrong, I ordered a cake for my teenage son green with white trimming resembling a football field and they made me a cake for a toddler, white cake with minty green letters. I complained and they said well it had green and white colors. Unbelievable. Over charged me and then they were extremely rude because I complained for not making the cake I ordered. Don't ever buy here. Thank you for nothing.

  • Lori

Today was our 1st visit & we will be back! The coffee was so good. We both got the turkey sandwiches. The bread they used was fresh, they were generous with the turkey & cheese, & the tomatoes were perfectly ripe. Wish they had the prices on the order board, we would have ordered more! Our bill was extremely reasonable, especially for how delicious everything was. Thank you & we will see you again soon!

Went to buy a Cuban style bday cake and it was exactly what I was looking for. The staff is always pleasant. They have a slew of other Cuban treats like pastelitos, croquettas, Cuban coffee, Cuban bread, sandwiches. All which I've tried one time or another. It's not a chic spot, but more traditional style.

The food is good, but the customer service is horrible! Makes you not want to come back. Talking trash about the customers when they leave, making assumptions based on anything they want. Prices will go up and down based on who they believe you are, will insult you when you ask, and if they think you don’t understand Spanish, will be talking about you in front of your face! I had such a horrible time, never coming back! You should stay away…. Believe me!

I've only been there once. It is a very tiny place with hardly any seating area, got some pastries, they were ok. They keep some of their breads on the counter, uncovered, and there are a lot of flies. The man that was getting the bread and pastries was an older man, he wears gloves to handle the bread and pastries... and the register... and the money, and food again, and money again all with the same gloves. Never went back, never will!

  • Joel Cowart

This place is amazing! The food is unreal and delicious! There's a huge selection of delicacies and they are all price low, $1.50 - $2.50 per item. Or you can order a traditional sandwich! The people are so nice and they know their food is amazing! It's very much culturally relevant. I think some of the bad reviews come from people who don't understand the culture. I ordered half the store to taste everything and it was so great!!!

  • Brian Miller

No one greets you, they just watch you like you walked into their house at 2am n woke them up. Very hostile environment. No prices for anything. Tried to ask a question, woman just looked at me. Placed an order, she went in the back for a couple mins came back with everything in a box..taped. Expensive n overpriced total at the counter. After all of this, desserts were OBVIOUSLY SPOILED. All of it WOW. Who shops here Twice ..??

The worst Cuban bakery I’ve ever been to and I’m from Miami I know a good bakery the Cuban coffee was disgusting and the pastries & Cuban bread was old and gross there’s a Cuban bakery in baymeadows that’s way better take your money else where very expensive and the food is old, cold and nasty the worst bakery I’ve ever been to in my life and customer service is even worse than the food and coffee never coming back!

  • Patricia Morell

Rude customer service, they are bothered if you have questions. They thought I didn’t speak spanish because I look white. So YES I heard what you were saying. Their display is beautiful but deceiving.. too expensive , it highly lacks the taste of quality your paying for , it is like as if it isn’t fresh. Their croquettes are not good ... based on my experience,, I am confused of how they are in business

  • Melissa Clarke

The absolute worst place ever!!!!!! I would give 0 stars if I could! Went inside to use the bathroom really quick and when I came out I had an employee yelling at me for using the bathroom! And she would not stop even after I apologized! I have never been treated so terrible in my entire life! 100% worst customer service hands down. I would not reccomend this place to my worst enemy!

  • Cindy Antiquey

I was waiting on an eyeglasses repair, and decided to try this bakery. Everything looked great. I bought 2 deserts, a cappuccino, and a Cuban sandwich. Ate 1/4 of sandwich and threw the rest away, not good. Drank 1/2 of cappuccino, threw the rest away. Don't know if I'll eat the desserts within the next few days. Quality for the price is very bad. Would never go to this place again.

This is abeautiful⚽️Spanishstylebakery located in the plaza with the giant dinosaur! Not only do they sell fresh baked sweetsand breadsdaily, but they also make sandwichesand createlovelycustomized weddingcakes to your liking.I definitely recommend you come by and check out thissensationalbakery! …

  • Chino MartineZ

Too expensive I spent $60 on 4 steak sandwiches and 2 Caffe con leche with 2 croquetas. I went to Mambos Caffe and paid $50 for a steak with yellow rice and beans and tostones, a steak sandwich and a chicken soup and my kids ate a Cuban sandwich and grilled chicken and fries for $10 less! I forgot to mention I didnt even order drinks at Kathy's! Save you money go elsewhere!

  • Velez Family

Average food, but small portions. Very rude, overpriced and very sketchy. No receipts, prices change, food is boxed in the back, customer bathroom is always "out of service" which violates Florida law. Owner hates it if you compare their food and prices to Miami. Jax needs a better place for Cuban pastries. I have no idea how they've been in business as long as they have.

  • Jay “Bear”

I only had the cinnamon roll which tasted nasty and the doughnuts were mediocre in my opinion. Both over priced. $4 For 2 day old cinnamon rolls! The ham sandwiches are not refrigerated just left on the checkout counter. And the bread is left uncovered on top of the counters also. The bakery itself looks and smells good. Customer service not so much.

  • Ana Cabrera

I am from Miami and this bakery helps me ease my cravings when i think of my family and my home. Great service very clean. There pastries are awesome, cuban coffee, cafe con leche and sandwiches are delicious. Whether your Cuban or any nationality I recommend this place its worth the trip. Try Kathys bakery its worth it. Every chance i get am there.

  • Donna Carier

The Cuban sandwiches are insane! And, the macaroons are the best I have ever had! The flavor hits you right before you take the second bite! I mean, it's really unreal how the mint, or orange hits you! This place is on the top of my list now for sure. Y'all got to try them out great experience!

Found a hair on the cake and told a Spanish lady who works over there. Her response is because I wear glasses and she had a prescription on her eyes and she forgot to wear glass. "So she can see nothing". she brought that whole tray of cake into the kitchen and save up for later use. I used to love that place but not anymore after what happened.

  • Dee Zee

The website says this bakery closes at 6:45, however at 6:10 doors were closed. The (owner?) just signalled "no" at us and another customer turning us away. Normally I wouldn't let this bother me enough to leave a review, but I went out of my way and sat in heavy traffic to come here specifically prior to a dinner. So I left pretty infuriated.

  • Danielle Trujillo

Kathy's bakery is like a little slice of Miami. If you ever need a small fix of Cuban food, this is the place to check out on Beach Blvd in Jacksonville. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is like being around family. Go check it out! Won't disappoint

The absolute WORST croquettes and stuffed potatoes i have ever had!! And to top it off i bought 4 croquettes, 2 stuffed potatoes and a beef pastry and was charged $15. I called to let them know that the food treated bad and they got offended Amy's said the food was made fresh and hung up. Do ever go there TERRIBLE !! TERRIBLE!! TERRIBLE

  • varacuba10

I visited Kathy's bakery today with my family and we all loved it, We were very happy with the quality and the service we received, if you want to try the best Cuban sandwich, Media noche, steak sandwich in town, Kathy's bakery is the place to go. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to all my friends and family.

  • Luis Ramirez

Today i went with my wife for the first time it was good but for a few things we bought she charge us $59 dollars i was like what a rip of never againg we are going in miami the same things we bought here would of been like 30 dollars because in Jacksonville they dont have hispanic bajery againg they take advantage of the prices

  • Rashida Sifford

HORRIBLE! The owner is RUDE as hell and she makes up prices! No prices are listed on anything. The people up front have to go to the back to ask her a price and then when she comes out she charges more!!! Plus everything comes from Sam's, Costco or BJ and then she re-sells it! That might explain that "refrigerator taste"!

  • El Tuto Asyn

They have the flavor and the food quality ; however, they certainly lack of customer service and work ethic. They don't follow, their own hours of operations. They might turn they close sign in your face even way before their closing time. At the same way ,they might not be open, at the time they are suppose to operate.

This place is a joke. Have you ever smelled anything "baking"? No because she buys it from Sams. Prices are always different for the same thing on different days. If you think this is a good Cuban place you are a fool. Why does she always take what you order to the back before giving it to you? This place is a joke.

  • Lauren Stevenson

5th time I’ve come here in a year and it’s closed even though online the hours say open on several platforms. Once someone was even inside and kicked us out for walking in. Would love to update a review when we finally get the chance to try it! Please update your hours correctly so we can come support your business.

Great place for a quick snack or dessert. My tiramisu was delicious. I have been told the "seniorita" is legendary. I'll try it next time. Wash it all up with a strong "cortadito" (Cuban coffee) and you will be happy. There is a great variety of options. The seating is limited. No tables. But not a big deal.

  • Francesca Ranken

I found this place by accident. I planned on purchasing something because I was hungry. They ignored me even after I said hello. I walked out. I will not give my money to people who don’t want it. Not sure why some people get ignored and others don’t. I hope it was not because I was asian and not hispanic.

We ordered the cheesecake, cheese danish, lemon cake, and cinnamon roll. The cheesecake was AMAZING! The cheese danish did not taste very fresh

Not Authentic Cuban sandwich bread at all!!! The small bakery has old cakes for your delight and overpriced drinks. The toasted(not pressed) Cuban had old roast pork on the bottom of other meat.. when I asked was it fresh meat…. I was smiled at and told my 3 sandwiches and drinks came to 43.95 !! …

  • Nicole Holzapfel

This is a rare place. All the food and baked goods are homemade and you can taste the love and care that went into them. Their variety is really amazing - they have something for everyone, whether you are looking for authentic Cuban or not, sweet and savory treats, etc. We will go back there a lot!

  • Leslee Vega

A lot of items are over priced for what they are. Customer service is terrible and I see they cater to certain customers. I had to wave someone down for hep mins you it’s very small and there was about 3 people behind the counter. My pastries weren’t packaged correctly and fell apart in the box.

  • debbie lopez

Horrible service firstly... I ordered a yellow two tiered ruffle cake from the bottom only and they did it all ruffle I explained numerous times how I wanted it...the 3 leches cake was dried... Second the macaroons I ordered were suppose to be pink but weren't don't recommend save your money!!!

  • Gustavo Portillo

They have large menu.many different deserts but I don't like it because prices are high. The lady the is there charge costumer by guessing she doesn't give a receipt I don't recommend this place stay away..very unprofessional....mala experiencia precios Altos..that is my opinion tank you

  • Pilar Velez

Best Cuban coffee and Cuban sandwich in the area, but is very expensive and the customer service is horrible. It was only one lady and she never say hi even when I told her Hi. And I wait around 20 mints for 1 small coffee and a Cuban sandwich and a couple of pastelillos. Bill was $ 21.

This is the best bakery in town.there are not too many places with the variaty, and quality desserts in Jacksonville. The cafe con leche is just perfect. Tip: I would like to see the prices on the items available for sale. Thanks for serving Jacksonville with your great Cuban sweets

  • Truth Wave

I bought 2 tornillos, 2 flan cups and a bowl of 3 leches and paid over $19. The tornillos are a few inches and the 3 leches was about the size of the small tres leches at Publix. 4+4+6+2+2 is what I think I paid. No indication on the receipt. None of the items are worth their price.

One of the few Cuban bakeries in Jacksonville, probably the most expensive "pastelito" you will ever eat in your entire life. The food is very good though over priced. The owner does not even display the prices so you don't even know how much you will pay until the last minute.

  • KeKeN_25_PR ¡

i never ever see Prices like this in any Cuban Bakery's that i been before. First, they dont have Prices of anything to Start with. Second not even Bother to ask for the Receipt.. lol i Think should be ilegal not giving Receipt to the CUSTOMER* in a Comercial Plaza whatever

The pastries are great. A little expensive for my budget. This is an update. I still love the cakes and the cannolis are the best. Big problem now.....2 months ago, her debit machine was "broken", now yesterday again "broken". Make sure you take cash or no goodies.

This was our first and last time here. The desserts are beautiful but our sandwiches were not good. Also no prices on anything. So you order blindly. We were charged 40.00 for two sandwiches, two small meat pies and two can drinks. We were shocked.

  • Mara Hernandez

Very clean place and many varieties but The cuban sandwich was warm-up in a microwave. There was already sandwiches place on a tray in a counter, exposing the ham and cheese to warm temperature. The "Napoleon, Cannoli and others" tasted not fresh.

  • Lisa Rauser-Wright

Told that cupcakes were $2.00 ea ordered 2 dozen mixed flavors bill came to $79. Then they acted like it was my misunderstandings. Feeling ripped off should have given a discount for buying by the dozen . Beware shame on them for being dishonest!

Everything that I ate there was like a little piece of heaven to my taste buds!!! The ladies were nice and the place was very clean. Even though it's 2 hours from my house, I will be going back as often as possible!

  • Frankie Jizking

This place is terrific. They make impossible to find deserts the old fashioned way. Their prices are high but so is the quality. You could take a short 5 hour drive to Miami and save $10 if the price concerns you.
