I can not give a positive enough review about this office and it’s staff. I will preface this review by saying my kitty is like a child to me and gets treated like a prince so I am VERY VERY particular about vets. I have been on the hunt for a good vet for months, so I am beyond excited to have found this practice! I’ve been to around 6 different offices thus far and haven’t been the least bit impressed with any of them. I have a sphynx cat which means there are a lot of breed specific conditions and a lot of medications and treatments that are not safe for his breed. The other vets I had been too were very uneducated about specific breeds and I had to be the one to tell them no to certain treatments (which is very worrying, if I hadn’t done my own research before hand who knows what could have happened). So now that we’ve got that out of the way I will give you a rundown of my whole experience here. I had originally had an appointment for a neuter at another clinic but they cancelled on me last minute, on a whim I called Kenaston vet to see if they had any openings, and they did! Right from the start I had a bunch of questions as my boy has a heart murmur and was acting strangely a few days before the surgery. The vet (I forget her name but it was a woman) spent a good 20 minutes on the phone with me answering all of my questions and emailed back and forth with me as well. All of this communication was before I had even made the appointment! This made it very clear that the vets and all the staff care deeply about the animals that come through their doors. Fast forward to the day of the procedure... I walk into the office and both the vet and the receptionist/tech were expecting him and greeted him with tons of compliments. Since the vet I spoke to on the phone wasn’t in for a little while I had another 15 minute conversation with the other vet (this one was a man, I don’t remember his name either!). One of the first things we spoke about was what medications can’t be used on certain breeds of animals for different reasons. This was music to my ears as he was VERY knowledgeable about the animals he treats. After dropping him off they did his checkup and x-rays (because he has a heart murmur they needed to ensure his heart would be strong enough for the surgery before they began- and It was!). They then called me to let me know how the check up went and told me when they would be starting his surgery. Then once the surgery was done, they called me again for a pick up time. Upon pickup I had another lengthy conversation with the vet and she went over the x-rays with me in detail (and she even emailed them to me!) Overall I am INCREDIBLY impressed with not only both the vets but the receptionists/techs as well. They even phoned me today to make sure he’s doing okay after the surgery. SO If you have a less common breed of animal (or any animal in general) I would highly highly recommend checking out this vet. This might not be the cheapest in the city but they are certainly not the most expensive and it’s absolutely worth dishing out a couple extra dollars. The vet office is also as far as you can get within city limits from my house as I live in transcona, and I am more than willing to make the drive out! My grand total came to around $450, $170(ish) for the x-rays, $180(ish) for the neuter, $55 for the microchip and $38 for some eye drops. They also recommend I do an ultrasound of his heart to make sure there is nothing fishy going on and the estimate for that is around $450. This may seem like a lot but these price points are amazing compared to other clinics that estimated between $700-$900 for the same scan. I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the staff at the Kenaston vet, it was beyond amazing working with all of you. Kenaston is definitely our primary vet from now on and we look forward to seeing you for his next check up! -Natasha H.
I visited this vet last January because my dog who had developed a mild ear infection, had suddenly lost 90% of her hearing. My vet was closed and I was very concerned about possible complications such as a burst ear drum or possibly other more serious issues like severe hypothyroid etc. I explained to the vet that my dog's hearing had been perfect leading up to this time and my accompanying concerns. I received the most underwhelming and uncaring response from the vet I saw. She told me my dog was either SELECTIVELY deaf...meaning she was ignoring me. OR it's completely natural for dogs to go completely deaf over night. It only takes a quick google search to understand that this is completely INACCURATE. If sudden deafness occurs it should be interpreted as a symptom not a matter of fact issue. First of all I had spent 10 minutes explaining that my dog wouldn't flinch if I clapped behind her head, that she would jump like crazy if I touched her from behind, that she wouldn't respond to the treat word or a bag crinkling when she is highly food motivated. To have a vet tell me my dog is just suddenly extremely moody is beyond ignorance. Second of all.. this sudden deafness phenomenon also struck me as ridiculous and I questioned her on many other possibilities. She commented that the ear canal was too swollen to see if the ear drum had burst but prescribed drops which can't be put in an ear with a burst ear drum.... AND then she told me to be very careful because the drops can actually CAUSE deafness if given for too long. COME ON. I left this visit several hundred dollars out of pocket, with no answers and a resolve to never visit that vet again. I hope this review helps others to avoid the same deadpan emotionless and unenthusiastic approach to veterinary medicine! Once I left I started my pup on a herbal remedy for thyroid issue as I suspected this to be the culprit and she miraculously regained her hearing within a week! She is still doing amazingly well and my regular vet tested blood/urine recently and says everything is looking great! Thanks for reminding me of the need to advocate for my own furbabe cus Vet's won't!
I brought my rat in to be put down yesterday. The staff member who came in to the examining room to initiate the process was absolutely horrible. She reviewed the consent form then implied she would take my pet to the back immediately to be euthanized, freaking me out because the vet hadn’t even seen her and I wanted to make sure I was making the right choice putting her down. She came off as annoyed, stating that the vet had other appointments and that they would charge me a checkup fee to have him confirm that this was the right decision. I was mortified as I assumed they weren’t in the practice of killing any animal an owner brought in without considering other options. The staff member responded, without even looking at my pet, that they put down any rats with respiratory problems or masses. She discussed our bill several times throughout the conversation and had me pay while my dying pet was still struggling in my arms. This is the first time I have ever euthanized an animal. Although the vet did eventually come speak to us, I was traumatized by the amount of bargaining required for a one minute interaction confirming that I made the right choice. This was one of the hardest days of my life. I wanted closure, I wanted to know that they agreed there was nothing else I could do for my baby. I assumed this would be a standard interaction surrounding euthanasia. I’m struggling to find closure, not because I lost my pet, but because of the trauma I experienced interacting with this staff member. I hope this is not the experience others have had at Kenaston Veterinary Hospital. I do want to say that my brief interaction with the vet was very positive and empathetic, which I am truly grateful for. I just wish my experience as a whole was less difficult.
I wanted to say how I love this vet - I have been seeing them for about 2ish years now. There are multiple reasons why so I will put it in point form lol 1. They saved my baby! Dixon swallowed a sewing needle this year (2022) and they got him the surgery he needed ASAP. It was expensive (to be expected), but he recovered quickly and is healthy as ever! They called me for an update the day after and cared about how he was doing! The lady who stayed with him overnight too was an angel and gave him kisses for me haha. 2. I personally find they don't try to price gouge and recommend unnecessary tests (at least with me - they have been very honest when I have asked for testing and they've told me it is not worth it. Ex. I wanted to get my cat tested for cancer (Due to my friends cat passing away from it) but they told me not to unless I see symptoms - I love this kind of honesty) 3. I personally have never had issues with the receptionists, sometimes I find they are so enjoyable to talk to that I want to stay and just chat. Despite my social anxiety lol I will say prices have increased, but so has everything else in the city so that is also to be expected. I trust that they would not overcharge me, and if I feel that if I am unfairly charged, I would bring it up, but I feel like they just would not do that to me. Lastly, Dr. Hayam Hussein is super knowledgeable and is incredibly sweet to my babies when I bring them in, and she always makes the experience wonderful and you can really see her love of animals! I love the information she provides too, I always leave learning something new it seems haha. A BONUS: They do not appear to hate the raw diet!! (Yay!) Like so many other vets biasedly seem to despise and then promote their own sponsored food brands
In many years of rabbit ownership across Canada, this is the best clinic I've attended. They knew how to gently handle my bunny, even though he has a spicy ginger personality. They started with the most low key approach, and risked being bitten just to ease his anxiety. I appreciate Dr. Eissa is treating his ear infection from all directions: painkiller, oral and topical antibiotics. This vet genuinely loves rabbits, it was easy to tell. They were very flexible about fitting us in on an emergency basis. I was very upset to see my bunny falling over and appearing to have seizures, and they were so kind about seeing him immediately. They alleviated what must surely be one of the most distressing aspects of an exam, the rectal thermometer, by using an ear thermometer. I am disabled, and they assisted me with lifting and carrying. There is disability parking out front, tho' you do have to cross the mall driveway. I want to mention this gem: Dr. Hussein was a resident vet at UC Davis' teaching hospital, one of the top veterinary programs in North America. They are the gold standard for rabbit and horse knowledge. I rely on their research when rehabbing starved and abused horses and bunnies. Reasonable prices for Exotics care, as well. For new rabbit owners: please make sure to choose a vet with Exotics expertise, as it requires extra training beyond dogs and cats. Rabbits require different handling and medications. More info on the House Rabbit Society website.
We’ve gone here in more than one occasion (for a neuter, checkups and a few GI stasis issues over the years) with 2 bunnies. The admin up front are very hit or miss. When there’s a pet crisis and you’re getting talked down to, that makes it really hard — but it’s important to remember even though they’re the “face” of the business, once you get past them, there are kind vets ready to see your littles. We like Dr E a lot, but have noted (with 4 other bunny parents in Winnipeg) he’s quick to state your bun needs to be out under to get their molars trimmed. The price for my 4 friends’ and I’s rabbits was vastly different for the same procedure — Ana they’re all roughly the same age, weight and temperament. Always ask for before and after photos (when they’re asleep, this is possible..). As a result a lot of us learned the molars were never the root issue, and their molars weren’t life threatening at all, just nasty GI stasis. It makes it hard when you feel gouged, or guilted into dicey operations that may not be fully necessary, and yet it’s harder to find rabbit vets in Winnipeg. While we will be back, because our buns health and safety is #1, it will take some time for us to feel 100% trusting again. Dr E is kind with buns of any age, ailment, and grumpiness (haha) and will let you stay with your bun for the checkup if they’re stressed, some little ones just need their mum or dad there.
I have been coming here since the first few weeks they have been open. I have only wonderful things to say about this place. Every single experience I have had here, I have received the top notch service. My pup Oliver and I primarily see Dr. Eissa and he has been most knowledgeable and helpful with the allergies he has. I never feel like a visit is rushed and the information he provides is so thorough and he is always happy to explain things so I understand. When I need to order food it is always in so fast! Dr. Hussein has also been so wonderful. During the early part of Covid my kids, ex-husband and I came in to have our family pet euthanized. It was such a terribly hard day and the empathy and compassion given by Dr. Hussein and all the staff was truly heartwarming. As sad as the experience was, it was handled with the utmost respect and compassion. I can't imagine how difficult some aspects of their job must be. I was touched when I saw a candle glowing and a sign asking for quiet as someone was saying goodbye to a beloved pet. When Chase's remains were picked up we each received a stamped paw print and a vial of his fur. We treasure these thoughtful mementos. I have no plans to take my pet anywhere else because the care received here is phenomenal. A huge Thank You for all you do!
I recently started coming to Kenaston Vet since it's closer to my new home. I've dealt with both Dr. Eissa and Dr. Hussein - they're lovely people. I really appreciate how this office is family owned and local as other corporate vets tend to upsell and overcharge. I've brought my dog, Molly and my cat Riceball here and they're treated like family. Riceball is on medication for his chronic kidney disease and Molly was recently rescued so she got spayed, dental work, and a lump removed on her leg. The vets here gave accurate estimates, showing both the low and high end of what the procedures may cost. They never pushed services and always gave me the option, which is appreciated. I previously went to another vet who always forced me to get expensive procedures. I would recommend this place for anyone with pets! They also do exotic and small animal services (gerbils, guinea pigs, snakes, ferrets, etc). The receptionists and assistants are all amazing too - they always greet Molly and make her feel as comfortable as possible (she has abandonment issues and separation anxiety from previous owners). The assistant, Veronica is always thorough when explaining aftercare instructions and they answer all my questions.
On Monday, August 17th I had to put down my buddy Simon. He was a cat that I had for nearly eight years, and I cared for him dearly. The night before he had seemed perfectly normal, but woke up that morning to find him in discomfort. I was recommended to Kenaston Veterinary Hospital by my usual vet to ensure Simon was attended too asap. Upon arrival, the vet and her staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The vet quickly noticed that Simon was not well, and outlined options for next steps. I left him for an x-ray and returned to work. After 25 minutes, I was called to come back to the vet immediately. I knew it wasn't good... When I arrived they described how Simon was very sick, had an underlying heart condition, and would not survive much more than a day. They provided options to try and keep him alive, but ultimately, the decision was clear. The entire procedure although disheartening, was made much easier by the incredible staff at this vet. They did a fantastic job of making what could have been a very traumatic experience much more comfortable and reassuring. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who loves and cares for their pets.
Our cat Beans ate something he shouldn't have and wasn't interested in eating his breakfast the following day. We knew something was wrong but our regular vet was fully booked. Kenaston Vet was able to get us in that same day to have Beans assessed. They kept him for observation and tests and as it turned out he had three intestinal blockages that needed to be surgically removed. Drs. Eissa and Hussein performed the surgery late in the afternoon on a Saturday and kept us informed well into that evening and throughout the weekend about how the surgery went, how our boy was doing, etc. The doctors and staff are so kind, professional, skilled, and considerate. It is obvious that they care a lot about their furry patients. It's always worrying when your pet is sick, especially when they can't be seen by their regular vet. The staff at Kenaston Vet put me quickly at ease and I knew Beans was in great hands. He has been home for a few days now and I am happy to report that he is recovering very well. I would happily recommend Kenaston Vet to anyone looking for top quality compassionate vet care.
As we are a first time pet owner of an adorable Siberian Kitten, 5 months ago we weren’t sure where to find the perfect vet for our little guy. Our kitten got a respiratory infection and started sneezing blood which got us very worried. Finally found this place and called Dr. Eissa for help. He was very accommodating and took us in right away and made sure our kitten got the best treatment. Since then we have taken him to Dr. Eissa plenty of times and now it’s a second home to our kitten. I am very certain that I couldn’t have found a better clinic for our cat. Best this about this clinic is that the prices are very reasonable and the staff is there to help you in every way possible. Dr.Eissa explains every single thing to you and gives you as much time as possible and he is always there for you. Knowing that we can call them any day of the week and we would be accommodated right away has given us peace of mind. I would recommend every pet owner to definitely go to Kenaston Veterinary Hospital and you would not regret your decision. Hope this review would help others like us.
Dr. Eissa and his team have been wonderful in all of their care of our pets. They helped on short notice with our senior cat who ran into trouble, on a weekend, seeing her pretty much right away (we were not clients at the time). Dr. Eissa's diligence with her treatment and clear care for her well-being made a tremendous difference. He even followed up by phone the next day (a Sunday) having gotten in touch with the broader veterinary community on her care. She beat the odds and is still with us, continuing to receive excellent care from Dr. Eissa. He has also been wonderful with our new puppy, offering clarity on her vaccine schedule, and being there with rapid response and treatment when she ate a bit of a plant she shouldn't have. The vet team in general is friendly, seems well organised, and more broadly the hours of operation are a definite asset if you have a busy work schedule or run into an emergency situation. Clearly a very hard working team that is dedicated to the pets in their care. I highly recommend!
Unfortunately my experience here was not great at all. I have given the office over a week to respond to my message privately but have heard nothing. I took my older dog into Kenaston at the suggestion of Bridgewater as they had a 3 hour wait and I didn’t want to wait, my dog had been strange all day and was presenting as wobbly and very off. I informed the vet that she had a history of kidney problems. I told the vet that she has been through two rounds of antibiotics of UTIs in the past month. He diagnosed her with ligament issues, prescribing a pain killer and an anti inflammatory. Turns out my dog was in early stages of complete kidney failure. The medication Kenaston gave her is an absolute no go for any dog in any stage of kidney disease. 36 hours after visiting Kenaston, I brought her to Bridgewater and they put her down. I have no idea if things would have turned out differently if the vet had taken more time to talk with me before writing her off with knee issues. I guess I’ll never have that answer.
I could not be happier with my experience at this veterinary clinic. All the staff were exceptional and treated my cat Theo with the best of care even when his sore tummy caused him to be uncooperative. The veterinarian I had the pleasure of speaking with was very thorough and told me all my options before allowing me to continue. My cat became ill on a Sunday, the one day my vet is closed so after my friends and family suggested Kenaston I gave it a try. I ended up having to bring my cat back to my vet a few days later as my cat is a jerk who lives to eat plastic bags and my vet is much closer to my home. Kenaston transfered my cats file and was able to advise my vets on the severity of the case. My own vet went on to tell me what a good job they had done, they said the work was very thorough and well done. I am so glad to know that if I can't go close to home I know a place that will give my animals the best care they can. Highly recommend to everyone I know.
Every time we bring our dogs here we always end up waiting more than 30mins in the room which causes a whole lot of stress and anxiety on my dogs. Its stressful because we make the effort to book these appts and expect to be seen at the said appt time but that has never been the case. 5 or 10mins wait is doable but every time we wait for more than that and it is unacceptable. Today we waited almost 50mins to be seen just for a bordetella vaccine! Just a booster shot! Their reason was they only had one vet on site but if thats the case then why would they book so many appts at around the same time when they know they only have one vet. That is always their excuse every time I ask why we wait so long since this isnt the first time this has happened to us. This happened to us all throughout our appts last year as well. It is very disappointing and stressful. We will no longer be coming back and we wont be recommending this vet anymore.
My 3 month old Yorkie puppy, Maggie, ingested grapes over the long weekend, and had to be rushed to Kenaston Vet for emergency care. Learned after the fact that grapes can cause acute renal failure in dogs. After a thorough exam, charcoal to absorb the toxins, an IV and an overnight stay.... Maggie is on the road to recovery. Thanks to Kenaston Vet for their extraordinary care and compassion. Dr. Eissa, Dr. Hussein and team went above and beyond in their level of service. The care and commitment they showed to Maggie - they took her for walks, played with her, and also took the time to call me three times with updates on her prognosis and treatment. I am so thankful for their professionalism and depth of knowledge, as well as their empathy and kindness. Maggie is my first dog, and the reassuring phone calls meant the world to me. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kenaston Veterinary Hospital is a place I will be recommending to every single one of my friends. I called as a new customer and the receptionist was such a sweetheart and was incredibly kind in person as well. I was a bit cautious bringing my extremely sick frog to them as no other vet had found the problem he had yet and he was deteriorating quickly. I ended up quite late to my appointment (darn kenaston traffic) and they still greeted me warmly. The vet was a very nice man who seemed very educated on exotic animals. He did such a thorough check including a full body check on my frog (even looking up the tiny nostrils). He was gentle with my frog and answered any and all questions I had. He was honest and signed my frogs up for some medications. The prices were so impressive and reasonable. I hope they all have a great day and I will be coming back!
Shad me wait for 40 minutes in the room the instantly suggested a full battery of expensive tests when they finally got in to the room. They told me my dog had diabetes which she didn't and told me the only way to confirm her illness was a 500 dollar test on top of the 200 they were already charging me for their terrible service. They then wouldn't tell me the best way to take care of things unless I paid for that test, I asked if there's anything I could do because I can't afford that test. They kept pushing for it over and over and over until I got so upset with them I left. The doctor straight up said "she has fanconi disease" at one point then I asked okay how do you treat fanconi then she said "oh I don't know she has that " it was the strangest interaction with a professional I have ever received and felt verrrrrrry gritty. 100% do not go here
Went there to take my cat for stomach issues. Got there, told me to get in a little room with my cat. We waited and waited and waited. My cat was getting more and more agitated. No one came by to see us or let us know when the vet was ever going to show up. My cat was getting stressed and I decided I had enough so I left without having anyone see my poor cat. I could hear other people outside of the room I was in getting prompt service. I think because I had a cat they thought it wasn’t a big deal and just to make us wait while their dog patients were being seen immediately from what I heard outside the room my cat and I were in. If they say they have an appointment at the designated time it would be appreciated and considerate for them to be on time. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. If I could I would put a negative 5 star rating
I first found out about them through a friend and she raved about all of them so as soon as I got my puppy we went there . They let you know everything that needs to be done and the veterinarian loves when people ask questions and they answer honestly and with compassion. My puppy got really sick and they got him in right away . They are understanding of everyone's situation and are the most kind and friendly vet and staff that I have encountered . They did all the exray and blood work needed and made sure I understand all that was going on . They raised me when I was really worried . My puppy is doing great now do to them . I could keep going on and on about all they do . I would Highly recommend them to all that I know also they have a Facebook page that they respond quickly with any questions . Always there for anyone who need help .
Worst possible place ever. I have a very sick dog and they refused to help me out with the medication I need because she is not regular patient even though I can bring in a prescription and provide everything that is going on with her. All I was asking for is a liquid form because pills are near impossible to give to my dog right now. The technician was very rude and very non sympathetic and unless I was willing to dish out another 100$ to walk through the doors they won't do anything on top of paying for another prescription. I will never go to this vet because of how they treat people and animals in need. I know you are in a profession to work with animals but obviously don't grasp the people part. Thanks for twusting the knife when I already found out that my dog is pretty much dying. I hope you really proud of yourselves there
I lost my dog tonight. I'm crushed and there was probably no way to save him, but the way the vet treated myself and Monty was abhorrent and made this whole thing so much more traumatic. When my girl dog passed, Pembina Vet was so incredibly kind and patient and accommodating. This was the exact opposite. It was the worst experience of my life. Edit: after two years they sent me to collections for $100 even though I paid an invoice while I was there. YOU TORTURED MY DOG. I HOPE YOUR BUSINESS GOES BANKRUPT. To be clear, he manhandled Monty so roughly while my dog was limp and sick and jabbed him hard with a needle and IMMEDIATELY Monty started seizing and foaming at the mouth. Monty was crying in pain and this awful vet didn't care. He caused Monty's seizures and then put him down. I'll never stop grieving this. Never.
I recently had to put down a senior cat who was well loved in my family and decided to call Kenaston vet, I do not have a prior file with them and was looking for a veterinarian who would do at home euthanasia. Yes, this was an extremely sad experience and especially intimate type of vet visit but we felt extremely comfortable during this experience. Not only were they able to come the next evening but they were so kind to my daughter as well, the professionalism was wonderful. We were given as much time as we needed with our cat and were able to ask any questions while they explained the process beforehand. My old guy was treated with kindness and they were so gentle with him. Pricing was clear and payment was taken over the phone, so I didn't need to do so publicly. Amazing services, I highly recommend this vet.
My dog came in for dental surgery and it went very well! I am highly impressed of how well this vet hospital took care of her and setting the appointment was fast and efficient. However, the greeter wearing green scrubs of this vet hospital was a bit rude and unfriendly. I stated on the phone that we decided to pay in cash and the lady was very nice saying that she will notify the front. When I got there saying I will pay in cash, the lady gave attitude saying "you want to pay this amount in cash?.." and was persistent for us to pay with debit or credit and saying she wont have enough change when it was around $12. If the vet does not accept cash, they should state it beforehand instead of judging their customers. Overall, Dr. Eissa did a great job on the surgery and notified me on what was done.
I brought my Gecko in for cremation. She was less than 1 lb. They told me since it is an exotic pet that she would need a special urn and the price was $495. I mentioned that all I needed was a basic ceramic urn and the price went down to $295. Reluctantly I paid and left. I then called precious pet cremation directly as they are in the city. They told me $99 for the cremation and $38 for the urn. I went back into Keneston vet and asked for my pet back as they were over charging me. All of a sudden the price dropped to $178. They refunded the $295 I already paid and charged me the lower price. There were 2 ladies working together up front, and they both tried taking advantage of me. Taking advantage of someone grieving is not good practice. Who knows how many people have been over charged.
I am very disappointed in this vet I will not be bring in any of my animals here. My dog got surgery here I contacted them a couple times during the week concerned about how it looked and the discharge. After 6 days of this I sent pictures to another vet and they wanted to see her right away when they saw her they said she needed surgery. I contacted kenaston via email to let them know after a phone call 2 days later they said they would look into it and get back to me. 6 days later I get an email. Nothing has been made right. Your response is a lie you did not tell me to bring her in I had called and emailed. The only time you told me to bring her in was if the other drainage tube dried up so you can remove it. Would you like me to start posting the pictures and emails?
I would love to thank Dr. Eissa and his team for helping my sweet Jack, a purebred Norwegian Elkhound. My poor boy had a huge mass that was growing rapidly and I could not figure out what was going on. We had an appointment for another 3 weeks but the mass was getting worse and we could not wait. All animal hospitals would not help me in anyway. So we could get Jack the surgery sooner then later. Dr. Eissa made up a very affordable payment plan and took very good care of my Furry guy. He was very kind and understanding. He answered our questions whenever I would phone into the hospital. They gave great advise which helped my boy heal faster. Thank you Dr. Eissa and Staff, I am eternally grateful to you..I would highly recommend this place if you want a doctor who cares.
We saw dr. Eissa a few months ago and he was able to diagnose our cat’s medical condition without having to go down a path of a million tests (the usual vet money grab scenario) he’s also very knowledgeable, efficient and compassionate. We ended up having to take our cat in again tonight because we were worried about her asthma. We were able to get in right away, the staff was understanding of us being late due to traffic and once we arrived we were quickly set up in a room and saw Veronica (vet tech) and dr. Eissa in a matter of minutes. Dr Eissa answered all our questions and we left feeling relieved to know that our furbaby is okay. We’ve had a lot of bad experiences in the past with vets so I’m very grateful that we’ve found such a caring and knowledgeable vet.
I called this week because my cat needed emergent care (turned out he had a urinary blockage). I explained I couldn't bring him in because my baby has a cough which necessitates isolation because of current regulations. I asked the receptionist if she had any suggestions for how I should proceed since they aren't doing at home visits and I couldn't come to the clinic. The receptionist said I should try contacting the humane society, because 'sometimes they'll pick them up' . I'm not sure whether she was suggesting I surrender my cat or not, but it would have been much more helpful if she recommended I have someone from outside the household pick up /drop off the cat which is what the other clinics I called recommended.
December 2020 was one of the hardest times of my life. I had to make the tough decision to let my best friend of 14 years go. It was so sudden. I quickly looked online for a vet that could come to us, as my boy wasn’t doing well and I didn’t want to move him. Kenaston Vet was one of the first vets I called. They were able to get me in that day, they came to my house and were very sweet. They were so good with him. They let us take our time and say our goodbyes. I’ve now been taking my pets to them for awhile now, they are so good. They have even seen my rats and neutered them! By far my most favourite vets I’ve seen, and I’ve had animals all my life. I highly recommend bringing your pets to Kenaston.
We had to take our dog, Hunter to Kenaston Veterinary Hospital when he was shaking uncontrollably and panting. We knew this was not his usual behavior so we rushed to Kenaston Hospital and Dr. Eissa agreed to wait past closing time just to see him. He took action right away to figure out was causing his pain and the reason for his shaking. He spent over an hour testing Hunter’s blood and doing x-rays. He was gentle and caring to our feelings and gave him a pain medication shot and a new low calorie diet for weight loss for his joints and pain medication for us to take home. He then called and emailed several times to check up on him. We are very grateful for the care and attention we received.
I highly recommend Kenaston Vet! After being to a few vets in the city I will only be bringing my cats here from now on. This weekend my 12 year old cat with some anxiety aggression was experiencing abdominal distress and Dr. Eissa identified the problem and treated her quickly and carefully! Everyone I spoke to was so kind and calmed me down after being extremely distraught. My cats are family to me and I will trust Kenaston Vet with their care moving forward! It is clear that the staff truly care about animals and when an emergency pops up it means the world to know that my fur babies in good hands. Thank you so much to everyone at this office, you are heroes! :)
We recently had to make the tough decision to put down our 12 year old German Shepherd cross rescue dog Lucas. We have had him since he was 6 months old. Although it was an extremely tough decision, we knew it was time. We wanted an "at home" euthanasia so as not to stress Lucas, so we reached out to Kenaston Veterinary Hospital. Thankfully Dr. Eissa was able to come over the very same evening after the clinic closed. He was very caring and compassionate, and make the experience a peaceful one. We are very grateful for that. Thank you also to the front end staff for all their help and compassion too. We will certainly miss our beloved canine companion Lucas.
After having a negative experience elsewhere for my rat Taro at another clinic, I made an appointment with Dr Eissa who was recommended to me by a fellow exotic pet owner. The clinic staff and Dr Eissa have been nothing but kind to me, and handled my rat's rapidly declining health with grace and kindness. I never felt rushed, nor did I ever feel bothered asking my millions of questions or embarrassed for crying in the clinic haha! Dr. Eissa is hands-on, and was able to show me and teach me what he was looking for, and what all of it means. I will be taking all my future rats and pets here, even though I live in Transcona!! Worth the drive. Thank you!
On Saturday, June 17, 2023 I had Dr.Nour Eissa come over to my residence to put down my pet Roscoe. He is the most compassionate, understanding veterinarian I have ever met. He explained everything to me and told me he would not hurt my dog and he was exactly right he shaved and froze Roscoe’s skin before putting the needles in. He also put comforting music on his cell phone which was very nice and calming at this terrible time. I highly recommend Dr. Nour Eissa he will come and do this in the comfort and privacy of your own home. He made the whole experience of losing a pet very peaceful. He is a doctor that cares! He should be cloned.
This was our first visit as they were recommended to us. We brought in our newest addition Coco yesterday to be spayed. Was very impressed with the level of service and how thorough Dr. Eissa was when we dropped her off in the morning. Was very happy at the end of the day when we picked up Coco, as we found out that Dr. Hussein was here. We know her from a previous clinic, and she has been there for us for both our new additions and when we have had to say goodbye to some family members. The love care and level of compassion she has shown our animals has been second to none. I know that they will receive the best care possible here.
Complete grifters. They just push you to do expensive testing and are rude and demeaning, and attempt to use scare tactics when you ask for more cost effective options or advice. Everything about this place was a scam. We left and had to take our dog elsewhere for proper care. They were able to tell us immediately that our dog had diabetes, something these vets told us they had ruled out. Our dog is doing great on insulin now, no thanks to these folks. The total cost at the vet who actually helped us was less than half of what they were attempting to push on us for testing, and it included insulin on the bill.
I was not an existing customer of theirs when I called needing to bring my senior dog in for extreme back pain. The were able to get me in so quickly with literally no notice, and once we were there they were so kind to me and treated my little guy with such care. They took the time to explain what was going on with my dog, and when he needed x rays, they explained why and gave me a price before doing anything. After my dog was treated the final cost was much more affordable than I was expecting, which was such a relief! I will definitely be taking my dogs back here in the future. Such a great clinic!
I took my fur baby there a little over a month ago and was blown away by how nice they are there! I got a complete tour of the place and it's so clean and they have a lot of really great equipment! They have everything, I was so worried about my kitty getting her vaccinations and they were so good with her, so gentle and they really cared! I needed a sedative for a long road trip in the car and they went over everything with me and made sure I didn't have any questions! I'm so happy me and Xena have such an awesome vet and the vet nurse, Deanna, made me feel completely at ease!
I asked multiple times to have my dogs records sent to my new vet since I was moving out of province since he was still sick and needed more care. They would not send the records for some reason. I asked there assistants 3 times over a 2 week period and I talked to the vet directly in person twice and still no records where sent. This ultimately cost me extra money being spent because of my new vet having none of his records and having to do x-rays and blood work over again. Any response or excuse from this vet will be meaningless and just them covering there poor service.....
Took my cat here because he was getting a bald spot on his head, they gave him a needle to stop the itching, and said that it was stress. I got charged $230 for the appointment and medication. Took my cat home gave medication for 2 weeks and nothing was changing, so I phoned, emailed and sent picture’s saying that there was still something wrong. In order to bring him again they would charge me for the visit. So took my cat to another vet turned out he had cancer and died few days later. Was not happy how they just assumed and didn’t bother to properly check or do tests.
Extremely disappointed by the treatment of my animal at Kenaston Vet. My snake was in an emergency situation. They couldn't take her in for two days, and when I did, she was diagnosed with something that was easily treated and that "she would be fine". I was prescribed a medication and before I could give her even one shot she was dead. They did nothing to check on her state other than look in her mouth, and will not offer a refund for the medication I couldn't even use. No blood work, no thorough examination. If you have reptiles, go to Centennial Vet. DO NOT GO HERE
The doctor and technicians here are very personable and knowledgeable and made our first visit (which was an emergency) a very positive experience. My African Grey Parrot was showing signs of illness and after calling every clinic in Winnipeg, Kenaston Veterinary Hospital was able to see us with no questions asked. They were extremely thorough and kind and we will definitely return here when necessary (hopefully not often haha). Special thanks to Dr Eissa, Tannys and Karly for their kindness and dedication to the health and wellness of our furry friends.
My 14 year old dog was rushed to have an orthopedic surgeon consultation at their clinic. It was determined that she did not have any orthopedic problems and was advised to see her home vet which is in east Kildonan. However Kenaston was able to see my dog immediately to help and do an assessment so I didn't have to wheel her across town. Dr Eissa was able to determine the cause of my dog's injury and give meds on the spot. Thank you so very much.I am so very thankful my dog didn't have to wait for an appointment at my home vet amazing service
I am so happy I took my dog to Kenaston Vet. My dog required emergency surgery and almost every other day till she was healed they would call to check up on her. I was worried about her incision one day and was asked to email a picture of it instead of me driving out there in case if I didn't have to. They showed me how to feed and give the meds cause i was having a hard time. Dr Eissa and Dr Hussein are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Staff and doctors of Kenaston Vet thank you so much for caring and understanding.
I came to kenaston vet as my regular veterinarian was busy and my cat needed urgent care, while we ultimately had to say goodbye to our sweet girl and it was the hardest day and saddest decision. Through the awful circumstances, I’m still giving the 5 stars because of how kind everyone working was through this tough time and for the detailed information from the vet who allowed me to make the most informed and non biased decision to do what’s right by our girl. Thank you again for the care in Brownies final moments.
My dog has severe allergies and often needs expensive meds, and I could tell there was no upselling or overcharging for what I needed and this was honestly the cheapest vet visit I’ve had! I will be making them my permanent vet! I appreciate that Dr. Hussein is very kind and straightforward about what needs to be done. You can tell that she wants to actually help you and your animal get well, and not just recommend unnecessary tests, meds, etc. She wants solutions and results and I really appreciate that.
We went to Kenaston Veterinary Hospital two times now, the first time was in the last year. We needed to update our cats vaccinations, my friend referred me to come. It was an amazing experience. The vet is awesome! He took care of my cats patiently. We went there today as well, we found our cat had blood in his urine. We called them first and went there right away! The vet is so nice and clam to explain everything to us. The price is affordable, the place is clean and professional. Highly recommended! !
Took our dog in after I noticed a abcess in his mouth. He is old and already has a heart murmur so I was scared to put him under. After my first visit I was relieved and excited to get my pup feeling better. The great vet tech and vet we saw calmed me right down. They booked us next day so less suffering and surgery went well. They charged exactly what they said they would but I felt like they went above and beyond. Very happy I have found Kenaston Vet. Thank you for taking such good care of my furbaby.
We brought in our senior pet who was unfortunately unwell. The vet was extremely thorough and compassionate. They also provided realistic options. Unfortunately we had to help of fur baby crossover. The vet said at his age they didn't think he would survive surgery. They are not all about the money. As hard as the process was to lose a pet they where there every step of the way. We also received a wonderful card and they presented us with our pets remains beautifully. Thankyou!
Winnipeg friends...can't say enough about Kenaston Animal Hospital. Got me in immediately with an emergency. 4x visits later and they are wonderful. Definitely recommend them. My other vet clinic 20+ year customer, after 4 separate incidents this past summer, kept placing me on endless hold or I was flatly told I could show up but would be triaged in the parking lot as there were other regularly scheduled appointments. Theyve never been that way. Sad. Even in an urgent case.
STAY AWAY from this vet. I bring my dog end of june for a ear cleaning, i was charged 80$ for medical exam, 40$ for ear infection consultation and 65$ for ear infection drops and 20$ for ear cleaning. 230$ with TAX. Okay, the drops didnt help, not even month later still ear infection and kenaston "vet" wants charge me medical exam and all other stuff again. Thats not first time i got ripped off at this place. I recommend to STAY AWAY, there is many better vets in the city.
Absolutely amazing service! I had to bring my 7 week old kitten to the vet the day before, in which the vet did the bare minimum. I noticed she was still having a hard time breathing, so i called Kenaston first thing Sunday morning, not only were they able to fit us in on short notice, the vet took incredible care of our little black pearl. I even recieved an update personally as to how she was doing and the measures being taken to help her. Thank you so much!
Me, my daughter, & my kitten always have pleased and great experience at Kenaston Veterinary Hospital. Very friendly and kind staff, awesome and great vets. They offered us a tour at the hospital and we found the place is extremely clean, organized, and has great vet equipment. It is so affordable vet service and outstanding veterinary care. If you are looking with a premium & affordable vet care, Kenaston vet hospital would be the one to go.
We have taken our dog Ellie to different vets before… I have never been so impressed with a vet before in my life. All of the doctors at Kenaston Vet are so knowledgeable, they explain what’s going on with your pet, and you can tell they truly care… also they’re charge fair prices unlike other places. I would 20/10 recommend this vet to anyone! They are truly amazing human beings! Also shout out to the lovely front desk staff as well!
This is the very best vet service in all of Winnipeg. If you love your animals this is the place you want to take them to ensure they are well taken care of. Every single staff I have encountered from the people who answer the phone to the actual vets are kind , caring and compassionate. It is obvious they are there for your pets best interest. I highly recommend Kenaston to everyone and thier prices are also very fair!
I needed an emergency spay for my cat, Boots, to prevent her uterus from being infected with pyometra. The doctor there is very friendly, loves animals, and performed the surgery in a timely manner, same day. My cat after the surgery, albeit exhausted, had no troubles with eating food. This is a really good vet. Also, the costs are far cheaper, since there costs do not reflect hospital like prices.
Fantastic vet hospital! Called at 4:30pm on Friday to get our Syrian hamster in on short notice - they were able to get an appointment for us the next day at 2pm. The Vet we saw was fantastic - and so were all the other staff that helped us! Our Vet was kind, gentle and very helpful/ knowledgeable. Would 10/10 recommend this Vet Hospital and will certainly return for all of our pet needs. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We brought our 12 year old cat here for a 2nd opinion as our vet could find nothing wrong. It was the best decision we ever made for our little boy. Dr. Hussain explored every possibility to find an answer. She was knowledgable compassinate and caring and took a lot of time to explain. Sadly we had to say goodbye to Dexter. We are transferring our other files to Dr. Hussain .
Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have found this clinic. The staff goes above and beyond, and are always so helpful and kind. Anytime I have had a unexpected event with my little one they have made time to see him and make me feel comfortable that he was getting the care he needed. I would recommend this Vet to absolutely everyone. The best in the city hands down.
If I could give 0 stars I would; Absolutely poor veterinary care, when concerns brought forward to clinic, head receptionist took it upon herself to argue about how much experience the veterinarian has; concerns never addressed. Not sure they ever reached an RHAT or Veterinarian, Unprofessional, poor quality of care. I wouldn't bother with this clinic if you love your pet.
Very bad service. They couldn’t identify my cat’s sickness and gave us an antibiotic that didn’t give any improvements for a whole week. We called tonight July 5 around 3 pm because our cat is having a hard time breathing and they said he is still good for tomorrow’s appointment at July 6 at 2:30 pm but NO, he died at July 5 11:03 pm. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I went here two time until now. Dr. Nour Eissa and his staff are always wonderful. They checked up for my dog very carefully and answered all of my questions clearly. The front desks are so nice, friendly and warm welcome. I feel completely assured when coming here. 100% recommended for anyone who loves their pets and would like to meet knowledgeable and caring vets !
How lucky was I to stumble upon this vet today. My dog has suffered from ear infections and a skin condition for years. I brought him to Dr. Eissa today and he took the time to explain everything and came up with a treatment plan. Tonight my dog is having the first good nights sleep in years. His profile says he has a phD in immunology and it shows. Thanks Dr Elissa!
Amazing and very caring vets. They got us in fast and scheduled a surgery in less than 48 hours. They were patient in answering all my questions (and phone calls lol); wonderful vets, techs, and front end staff. We found this clinic after one of their vets volunteered at our wellness clinics and switched over our personal pets to their clinic; best decision ever!
My 15.5 year old cat was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease. We were given meds, Saline and special food to help maintain her health. We were told that she could live for another few years but sadly she lasted less than 48 in pain and scared. We are heartbroken at our loss...hope means only more money. The front assistant was very comforting and caring.
Absolutely love them! I’ve been to multiple different vets across the city who accept exotics, in hopes of finding a good fit for my pet rats, and no one is even half as amazing! Super amazing and great with my girls, and really know what they’re talking about when it comes to exotic health. Absolutely adore, and recommend to all my friends with exotics.
Dr Aizza cares deeply for our pets and us. He will always find out what is wrong. If there is no time and emergency arise. He is the one who will give your pet emmediate life saving perfect choices first. God bless this man. He tells the truth. He will always be my dog Vala's doctor. He is just that a doctor. A surgeon and an animal lover! Thanku
We were in trouble with our old dog and his end of life and Dr. Eissa came to our rescue. He was so compassionate and understanding . We had never dealt with Kenaston Vet Hospital before and they still helped us with our old friend. He helped us through a difficult and heartbreaking time. Thank you Dr. Eissa...thank you Kenaston Veterinary Hospital.
I would highly recommend Kenaston Veterinary Hospital. They provide quality care, are professional and always get our pets in quickly. We had an unexpected emergency with one of our cats, they told us to come in immediately and took excellent care of us in a very stressful and challenging situation. You won’t find a better clinic in Winnipeg.
A truly wonderful clinic! My sweet 2 year old terrier was really sick over the weekend and our regular vet clinic is closed on Sunday. But, Kenaston Vet clinic was open and could see us. Everyone at the clinic was so kind and caring and did everything possible to help my dog's healing and I am thankful! They definitely deserve the 5 stars.
Very pleased with this clinic. Not only do they explain everything and answer all questions but it's clear that they really care about our pets. My girl saw Dr. Hussein and she is not an easy patient, but Dr took the time to work with her. The entire staff is lovely, building is clean and I am so glad someone recommended them to me!
We recently brought our senior dog to Kenaston in an urgent situation. Our usual vet was not open. They were able to get us in quickly. Both doctors were wonderful to us. In the end our pet had to be euthanized and everyone showed us so much compassion. Thank you for your help. We will start bringing our other dog to this vet now.
Doctors Hussain and Nour are amazing, this is our second home, as I have a cat with kidney issues and everyone including our friend Deanna, Kylie and Danielle care so much for him and go above and beyond! Thankyou for always being there for me and my fur baby ❤ So glad I made the move over to Kenaston Veterinary hospital. …
In home euthanasia service went perfect from the beginning to the end. It played a huge role in last minutes of our beloved dog. Nurses took a very good care of our dog. Process was smooth, just the way we imagined. I want to say a big thank you for your service. Stuff is understanding, patient, and know what they are doing.
Went to this veterinary hospital as my usual one was fully booked. They were able to accommodate us with no hesitation. My pup Chachi is usually a bit tense at vet visits especially when you touch her ears but Dr.E was amazing with her. They were very helpful and Chachi seemed so comfortable with staff!! Highly recommend!
One of the most extraordinary and exceptional vet. services in Winnipeg. Excellent customer service as well, professional examination, simplified explanations, satisfactory prices and spectacular knowledgeable vet doctors. My dogs definitely liked that place. I highly recommend that place in the south area of the town.
Love the service, passion, care and attention doctors and staff have given my kitten. No long wait and cheaper than other places in Winnipeg. Dr. Eissa takes good care of my kitten and willing to answer any of my questions. I am highly recommending Kenaston Vet hospital if you are looking for vet in Winnipeg.
Superb doctors! They were super accommodating and friendly! I was able to bring my cat and parakeet for a check up today and they even sent me home with some great recommendations. Best thing is they also posted pictures of my cat and bird on their Facebook page and they made them into celebrities! …
The staff is very friendly and the vets truly care for your fur babies as if they were their own. It’s the best vet I’ve gone to by far they made my boy comfortable and even called to check up on him and see if I had any questions, I truly appreciate the care they gave him and how informative they were to me.
On top of very thorough specialty knowledge of animals, every staff member is pleasant and very helpful. They are also easy to reach via email if you work odd hours. Lovely place. Little Meow, Seath and Midnight had their wellness exams and vaccinations! Would love to recommend to anyone with pets.
5 stars for Dr. Issa and his assistance and knowledge; however, we were greeted with what either sounds like doors slamming or someone violently moving furniture around. This is not a welcoming environment for a sick pet especially as ours is very sensitive and is easily scared. Not happy about that.
We have three dogs, two cats and a guinea pig. When we bring our pets we find that Kenaston Veterinary Hospital is very honest with us, giving us options as part of their recommendations, while maintaining an empathetic and friendly demeanour. Great doctors and a wonderful staff! #greatveterinarians
They are very nice people. My cat was not well and we couldn't get in to her usual vet. They fit us in last minute towards end of day. I highly recommend them and plan to change to them being my vet. She really liked them also and knew how to handle her well as she usually doesn't like vets. …
I took my hamster here and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. My hammy was very well taken care of the entire time we were there. The vets seemed to be very knowledgable about exotics. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a veterinarian for your exotic critters!
Had to use this 24 hour clinic on the weekend. Called Sunday morning greeted and was given all the correct information to make a very difficult decision to euthanize our Shepherd. The office staff were all very compassionate and professional. Thank you for your great service.
Kenaston Vet is one of the best clinics I've been to. Called about my kitten as she needed to be spayed asap. They took us in the same day. Answered all my questions and gave a follow up phone call today to check in. AMAZING staff and very clean clinic. Definitely recommend
I've been coming here for a little under a year now with my dog and they have been amazing. Just a few weeks ago I had to bring her in for an ear infection and they were supper busy but they squeezed her in as soon as they could. Always the best care at a very good cost.
I am never going back again. A guy vet was squeezing my guinea pigs infection so hard that he was crying in pain and I had to tell him to stop!!! And he didn’t seem to care that my pig was in pain. He was so rough with him. All around it was a terrible experience.
Took my dog here today after his Vet couldn't see him. Dr. Hussien explained everything perfectly and was very knowledgeable. Reception was welcoming and office was very clean. The price was more than reasonable. Very satisfied and highly recommend.
Wow, first time I left a vet feeling like they genuinely cared for my cat's well being and not trying to just gouge me for money. Dr. Hayam Hussein was so gentle and knowledgeable with my cat. I'll definitely come back for any future check ups!
I had my bunny neutered here. The staff was so friendly and warm. The prices were the most reasonable and they took him right away and were so good to him. I immediately felt confident leaving him in their care and they took good care of him.
Came here on a Friday because my cat had an emergency and our regular vet wasn't in. They fit me in, same day, and were able to get her back eating again and feeling better. Everyone was very kind and helpful, doctor and techs alike. We're
My 9 year old cat Butter got a teeth cleaning and extractions at Kenaston Veterinary Hospital recently. Right off the bat from the initial first visit, Dr. Hussein was very helpful and seemed to genuinely care about the well being of my
The vetrinarian or doctor at this vetrinary hospital is awesome. He's so nice. We brought in Aussie and two weeks later Daisy and he is so gentle with the animals and so is everyone who works at the hospital. Aussie recovered and Daisy
I had had to bring in my cat for checkup and thought he may have ringworm, he didnt, whew! What a great staff, everyone was so friendly and good with my little buddy. Anna helped me and we had a great experience. Max says hi!
Dr. Issa is an awesome Vet for Ferrets, which is apparently a rare thing in this city. I appreciate his care of my little Squirrel Snakes. Thank you for putting myself and my girlfriend at ease when we bring them in.
My dog had her first visit here today and I couldn't be happier with the staff. I couldn't get into my regular vet so I had to drive 2 hours to this one n needless to say we're switching vets regardless of distance.
Amazing place for our puppy and kitten. The place is so clean and organized. We are willing to bring our pets here. So convenient vet open 7 days with affordable prices. They really care, welcoming, and honest vets.
Brought my kitty here for her first shots and exam. It was a good experience Dr.Eissa was really caring with her. Also it wasn't crazy expensive which is great! This will be my girls veterinary from now on.
