"A more modern approach to having keys duplicated! Keep in mind one thing, while it's easy and tech packed you can still get a bum key! But reaching out to KeyMe they'll be happy to help! Will use again in the future!"
"Came here to get my sons first key "
"Pricing very confusing"
SKETCHY! Called KeyMe Locksmiths about a problem with the lock on my front door. Person answering the phone told me that a technician would be calling me shortly. Got a call about 10 min. later. Explained my problem to the technician and he said he'd would be over in half an hour. Before the call ended, I asked how much the service call would be and he said $100-$200, depending on whether or not he had to replace the lock. Technician arrived in a minivan with no company identifying information on the vehicle. There was an adult female in the passenger seat. He was wearing khaki shorts and a stained white shirt. (There was no company name or logo on the shirt.) Not once (on the phone or when I meet him in person) did he tell me his name. When I asked if he has a business card, he presented a card with the name Rapid Locksmiths Inc. on it; there was no contact information anywhere on the card (i.e., his name, company address, phone, website, email address, etc.). When I inquired why his card said Rapid Locksmiths and not KeyMe, he said KeyMe contracts with local locksmiths for their service calls. (If this is true, KeyMe had an obligation to tell me and they did not!) Anyway, he comes into the house and it takes him less than 5 min. to pop the lock (probably closer to 3); tells me that the lock is broken and that it needs to be replaced but that he doesn’t one that matches my other locks. I ask him how much he charges for a lock and he says $100. (Hence, the difference between $100 and $200 that he quoted me on the phone.) He then tells me that I can get a matching lock from Menards for $30. I ask him how difficult it is to install a front door lock and he said, not difficult at all, and proceeds to show me and my son how to do it by reattaching my broken lock to the door. (He screwed in 4 screws; literally took him less than 2 min.) I then asked him how much I owed him and he says - $400!!! After I picked my jaw off from the floor, I said..."Excuse me! You said $100 - $200 if I needed a lock and that the lock was $100 and you don't have a lock, so that should be $100. He then says $150 because “he showed me how to install the lock when I asked if it was easy for a homeowner to install or not”. (Total BS!) So, I reluctantly pay the guy $150 and ask for a receipt. He hands me a receipt with no identifying information on it anywhere—no name, no company name, no company address, no phone number--nothing! That’s why I say SKETCHY! A guy representing a company I didn't contract with, arrives at my house in an unmarked vehicle with his wife or girlfriend or someone in the passenger seat, never telling me his name, and then tries to get $400 out of me for something that took him less than 10 minutes! The whole transaction just felt off and icky. (Especially when he asked me if there were any good restaurants in the area. I guess that’s what the $400 was for.) Like I said, SKETCHY! KeyMe Locksmiths owed it to me to tell me that they were contracting with an unknown third-party to perform the requested services. They failed to do that. Had I known, I would have contacted someone else. On their website they say: "We’re Not Like Other Locksmiths. No hidden fees: We provide the full price prior to booking." All I can say is...not based on my experience!
Very quick service, immediately after calling I received a text with the ETA for my technician as well as a number I could reach the technician at if need be. He got there earlier than estimated and the door was open in like 30 seconds. Everyone was very helpful and I received another text after he was done to make sure I was satisfied with the service. If I ever lock myself out of my car again, I would definitely call KeyMe again
A more modern approach to having keys duplicated! Keep in mind one thing, while it's easy and tech packed you can still get a bum key! But reaching out to KeyMe they'll be happy to help! Will use again in the future!
Came here to get my sons first key . It was near a bright well lit area . I was expecting this Kiosk to have more options since the reviews were great. But it’s the same as the other ones . Still enjoyed my service.
Pricing very confusing. Showed one price but then changed the price once you agreed to take discount for multiple quantity. Price went up. Said 50% off quantity larger than 5 and mailed free. But then price went up.
Pretty convenient.. But $1.99 extra per key to brush off the sharp edges!!!? That should be included when paying to have a key cut. I was at five stars until that popped up on the screen. …
This self service keymaker in a large home improvement store, Menards, is very convenient and a really good deal. No waiting, and store personnel were happy to help with any questions.
I used KeyMe for duplicate mailbox keys. Ordering at a store kiosk was convenient and easy. My keys arrived quickly. KeyMe is a recommended service. The mailbox keys work well.
Daughter and I had a fun and easy experience. She loved the fact the she was able to pick out a themed key. I loved the fact that it was so easy to do. Thank you KeyMe.
This was very convenient having a Kiosk at Menard's. All I had to do was wait for them in the mail. Every key worked perfectly.
The service was good however one of the keys could not get made and they were to send me a key in the mail that i paid for
Quick, easy and convenient! Even sent the specialty key to my house that wasn't available in the kiosk at Menards.
The self-serve kiosk was very easy to use and very convenient as well. Also, a very good value for the price.
It was easy to follow the instructions. I could do it myself. I did think the price was a bit steep
The kiosk gives clear instruction, it was easier than I thought! And my key works great!
