Really good sushi places are hard to find on the Eastside. This one is... okay. I liked it enough both times but it's nothing extraordinary. Really weird tuna tartare--it came on lettuce, fine. But that lettuce was loaded in ceasar salad dressing. Raw tuna + caesar dressing at a Japanese restaurant? Very odd. I had to try it a few times to be sure that was what I was tasting because I've never heard of this before. Ended up trying to not let the tuna touch any of the dressing. Sushi pizza was severely lacking in sauce, and the thin sauce it did have was really sweet. It wasn't the eel sauce that we are used to. The scallops were fresh but the whole dish was sort of bland except for the overly sweet sauce. Tempura veg and shrimp was good, batter and oil was fresh and perfectly cooked. Octopus was... balls. We thought it would be actual octopus, but it was what I assume was fish-like balls, with a tiny piece of octopus stuffed in the center. Agedashi tofu was just not good. We tried a new roll for us instead of the usual green dragon or unagi variations, so we chose the Kamikaze roll. It wasn't spicy at all. It was well made, but lacked a lot of flavour. However, you do get A LOT for the price. So, that's a good thing. They never seem to have beef tataki even though it's on the menu. By the end of the meal, the roof of my mouth was cut up and sore, which has never happened before but perhaps that's just because I made the mistake of ordering so many fried options. Not the restaurant's fault, but I just found it strange. Prices were good. Everything was wellmade and nicely presented but not particularly flavourful or really tasty. The space is comfy, clean, and well decorated and everyone at other tables seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot. Server was nice as well. It wasn't a bad experience at all, just the food wasn't as tasty as I had been hoping. EDIT: September 2022. I added a star because our last visit here was very good. Much better. Everything was available and all of it was tasty, and great server too. Had tuna and beef tartare and so much better than before. Sashimi was fresh and tasty.
Fantastic restaurant. Large selection of sushi, donburi and other Japanese dishes, and all of the fish was so fresh! The staff was super friendly and our server in particular was very kind. The prices are also incredible: it was about $58.00 to purchase the “Love Boat” option, which came with miso soup, salad and an impressive array of sushi (32 pieces). The pricing alone is a steal in Toronto, especially since the fish was all delicious, fresh and melt-in-your-mouth. I would highly recommend Kibo!

I used to be a loyal Kibo Leslieville customer but not anymore. The quality, presentation and freshness of my last two orders was incredibly disappointing, with my order today being basically unedible. I gave them a pass the first time around thinking maybe it was just an off day. Today solidified that I will not be ordering from Kibo again. The "spicy tuna" no longer contains any tuna - it's just a mess of stale, old, mushy tempura pieces with a tiny hint of pink in a couple of places (I ordered spicy tuna dragon roll). The avacado was brown and the whole thing was a mess of sauce and tempura pieces in the package. It was pretty obvious the rolls were old. I ended up throwing it all out - not edible. What happened Kibo? You used to be so reliable....

I have been to Kibo many times in the past and they do not disappoint. It is not an inexpensive meal, but service is always excellent, food is to die for. One small pet peeve I have with servers is now they have taken to asking if I want any change back. Anywhere I go I am asked this and I do not like it because I feel I am being pressured into giving a bigger tip, like 40 per cent rather than what I would like to choose to do. I normally like to give 25 per cent on excellent service, but when I am asked that question I leave 20 per cent.

Had a great time at this location! We were craving some sushi on a Saturday afternoon and headed over. Seating was prompt. It can get a little packed in the restaurant as it's not huge, but there was ample space and there are a couple booths. Service was delightful. There was only one waitress serving the entire place that day but she managed to serve our table very efficiently without being over bearing. Very friendly as well. The food was great and they offer a lot of your standard fare you'd expect from a sushi place. They also had some house special rolls that are delicious! We tried the roll with garlic sauce and toasted tilapia. I didn't know garlic and sushi was something I needed in my life until now, but I'm happy that I've had the experience. Will definitely be returning again soon!
I LOVE kibo sushi, and I used to love the Leslieville location-but it is in DESPERATE need of a deep clean and update since the pandemic! I took a friend from out of town here for lunch the other day-the floors were slick with grease, the tables were chipped and seat cushions tossed about like an afterthought-but the worst part was the FRUIT FLIES all over restaurant! The basement washrooms were the worst of all-literally infested with clouds of fruit flies so thick I was glad I had a mask on or would’ve breathed them in! Kibo is a fantastic chain, but this place does NOT live up to its standards.

After 3 bad experiences I’m writing a review. The last being a 2.5 hour wait for an order placed online. All of my issues occurred when I ordered by phone or online so I can’t speak to in house experiences. Our order finally came after 2 calls to the restaurant (missing items and with poorly rolled sushi that fell apart). They eventually offered me a $30 credit on our $100 order which I am never going to use as they’ve lost our business. They also took the liberty of adding a 15% tip. I know it’s not the drivers fault so I hope he gets every cent but I have my doubts. The times prior were issues with missing items and long wait times.
Ordered their sushi platter from Ubereats, pricing was very good for a 30 piece platter consisting of sashimi, nigiri and rolls. They are also giving a free spicy tuna roll for orders over $30 on ubereats right now. The sushi tasted good for the price point of $44/platter. The rice to fish ratio was good, and everything tasted fresh, I especially liked the salmon and dragon roll. I would definitely order from here again. It’s a great place if you’re looking for some decent sushi at an affordable price point.

Pretty good! Sat in for the first time. The tables are a bit tight, but nothing wrong with that given the quality of the food at good prices. Got the Love Boat for 2 with my partner. I was a bit disappointed it didn't come in a boat - more of a square raft. Miso and salad were both awesome and the tempura was perfectly crunchy. Fish was excellent, except for my last piece of tuna sashimi which lost some freshness. Service was great, so aside from that one piece this was very close to being a superb meal. Will definitely come back to try more rolls!
I don’t know how anyone can rate this sushi as good. We ordered based on all the rave reviews on a Facebook group as we just moved into the neighbourhood and I can’t even say it was ok. It was plain awful. The whole order had an Indian smell to it, the sushi pizza had an Indian flavour to it. Almost as if all the vegetables were sitting in the same space as Indian food/spices and absorbed the smell and taste. The sushi was not well cut, the miso soup was not as flavourful as other sushi restaurants. I would not order again.
So many interesting vegetarian options! This spot never disappoints. My husband loves fish and I don't, so this is our go to. Eating in, the staff are quick and so kind. The place is so cute and the booths are amazing to sit in. It's very clean. Pick up orders are also on point! Very much recommended!

Had a get-together with some old friends here. Had the tempura (shrimp, veggies) and gyoza appetizers. Mains were the salmon lover, spicy maki trio, and other sushi & maki sets. Miso soup and salad were included with the sets. Everything was good quality and fresh. The service and atmosphere were decent. Will recommend this place. Had an enjoyable time!

I usually get the spicy salmon + spicy tuna roll special here and it’s always a banger! ❤️ Love the crunch, taste, and they use the perfect amount of rice. Most recently I tried their salmon tataki, kani salad, and yam roll. The kani salad is my fav. The prices here are quite reasonable! I’ve only gotten things for delivery takeout & can’t wait until the day I get to dine in.

Delicious and fresh sushi in the east end!!! I was so surprised how good the food was. I meant my first impression was ah this place is a bit small might have to wait for the table. But then we didn't have to wait for that long and the server was friendly and fast. The salad was delicious; dressing was kinda sour and I like it! Bonus point for the visual menu!! But the place is a bit small thats why I gave 4 stars
Sushi is always pretty fresh at this place. Been ordering a few platters for friends and family during covid and all have mentioned it was very good. Just the last time we ordered the rice was a bit mushy, however it could have been due to it being a massive order and it might have been waiting a bit longer than normal before eating. As mention all of the fish was quite fresh though, so we were overall happy with it.
We got four rolls around $9 per roll. We thought it was a good price for authentic sushi. They have little booths for each table which reminded me of Japan. Service was quick and friendly.

I ordered delivery from Kibo Sushi Leslieville, and was beyond impressed with the quality. I was out for a walk and didn’t get home until 20 minutes after it was delivered. The food was still delicious hot and fresh! Everything I had was delicious and nothing was soggy or cold. Very please with Kibo sushi!

I tried Unagi Don and salmon sushi at this place, and it was delicious. Price was affordable and sushi was fresh. I also remember a waitress named Wendy, she had a friendly smile and had a positive energy. One issue I had was that parking spaces were hard to find. Definitely planning to visit this restaurant again on my next family gathering. Hope this review helps!
Delicious sushi at affordable prices is a hallmark of this chain, and the Leslieville location doesn't disappoint! The handrolls and sashimi are always prepared fresh upon order, and the tempura and edamame are great additions to any meal. Service is quick and the staff are super friendly as well. Definitely worth visiting for your next sushi fix!
I love this place. Very nice decor. The staff are extremely pleasant and accommodating. My son loves this place and they love him. The food is always excellently and rapidly prepared. I generally prefer good AYCE but the quality is excellent and their prices are reasonable. The bento boxes are quite filling. They always have great specials.
absolutely terrible service. the waiter was extremely rude and messed up our order multiple times, and continued to say it was our fault. never coming back. disgusting service and terrible quality sushi.

Unexpected. Pleasently surprised. As advertised. I'll just say that the artwork on your plate matches the pictures in the menu, with flavour to boot. If you're lucky enough to find this gem, definitely stop by. Friendly staff. Great service. Best for small groups. (wish I took more photos. You'll have to go take your own!)
Perfect sushi and an excellent price! Stopped to have lunch inside for the first time (we usually order). It is a very dated location and wasn’t very comfortable. The had the back door open and we could smell The alley garbage. They closed it when we asked. The food was still quite good. I’d order again, but never eat in.
It’s my close grab and go spot for a quick bite and take out sushi. It’s always fresh, delicious but the presentation of rolls isnt always 100. not expensive and you can call in your order. Love their take out specials cash and carry which is so inexpensive.

Cute restaurant with good vibes. Surprised to eat here while listening to music from the 1950’s - an unexpected yet pleasant experience. Food was delicious. Actual venue’s tables (there are 6 tables) are rather private, and three of them are in enclosed room-like spaces. Would definitely come back.
Lovely neighborhood sushi spot, fresh, fast, great lunch specials. Nothing too fancy, picture menu ( which kids love).

Food overall is good only thing is the sashimi rice is cold which I don’t know before I order it. But the Korean Server(I guess she is a Korean because of her makeup) is really nice, she brought us one bowl of hot rice and I guess this is customer service. Will come back because of this server

Kibo! What happened to you guys? Quality of your food has gone from great to *terrible*. So disappointed. We tried 3 times just to be sure. This used to be our favourite sushi spot East of the DVP. Now the rice is stale, the fish is mushy and stringy. Couldn’t finish it.
I've dined in and ordered delivery and takeout from here multiple times and have not been disappointed once. The food always comes looking and tasting fresh. My favourite part about Kibo is I actually get a sauce dish to put my soy sauce and Wasabi in! It is a lifesaver
It’s meh I just ordered spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls from this location on ubereats. The spicy tuna rolls…there wasn’t much tuna mostly crumbs, and wasabi was mild lol. But the miso soup was really good and better than miso soup at other toronto sushi places

I ordered here through Uber and what a nice surprise. Sushi was fresh and delicious, tempura was extremely light, not oily at all. The selection is excellent compared to some places, I mean, who has 3 types of Philadelphia rolls! Will be ordering again!

Great vegan options, since the tempura is vegan. Don't get the miso soup if you don't eat fish, it is made with fish powder. The bentos are great value, they come with soup and salad. I haven't tried the mango sushi, but it looks delicious
On the way home from work my wife and I were looking for a sushi place and since we live in the east end decided to randomly stop in. To preface it I'm both vegan and gluten free which sometimes can cause issues with restaurants not being

Great decor and service. The private booths are great, especially if you bring the kids. Amazing quality at a reasonable price point. Definitely stands out among the other Japanese sushi restaurants in Toronto.
Ate here 3 times the first time our server was amazing. Second time we had another server she was ok but very forgetful. The third time we had another server she was so rude wont come back if I see her
Came here for lunch with my sisters. I enjoyed my meal especially the japchae noodle, it was addictive you good. Price wise it’s reasonable and portions are good. I would come back again.

I've been here a couple of times now, and normally I have a pretty good experience. Pretty good sushi joint In Leslieville.
Very good sushi and some of the most beautiful tempura ive seen. A lot of it for the price too. Surprisingly fast service.
Amazing foods with great service. Everything is very neat and food decorations are beautiful. Foods are fresh and so yum!
Lovely little gem on Queen street. More atmosphere than I expected and really good quality.
