Hi I have to just say how very disappointed I was today coming into the store, I use to love supporting the thrift shop. First off the charging of carts is just ridiculous there were two ladies at the carts that agreed with me. I had my 1 year old son with me and no change as we have been advised from the GOVERNMENT to use cards where ever possible, for obvious reasons. I decided to go in a do a quick check around the store anyways. Making it very uncomfortable carrying my son. I first started in the baby section, as I tend to look to recycle baby items instead of buy new, you had your play pens, one in particular I saw it must have been about 20 years old as you can tell from how dated it was, you were STILL asking 40 dollars! I was shocked as in Walmart’s flyer there are a brand new play pens for 69$. I walked around the store and I honestly found EVERYTHING over priced, it honestly makes me believe that you are in fact a FOR profit organization. What happened to helping community? You get these DONATIONS for free, and you are a volunteer ran business. You need to start pricing according to those facts.. I won’t be back and I also won’t be bringing my donations there anymore.
This store is a rip off to the low income person. I was there two days ago to purchase hangers and seen a pair of winter boots priced at $8. I went there today to purchase those same boots and they were marked up to $20 within two days. Spoke to the manager she would not honor the original price they had price them and there was even proof that price of them was changed as there were two plastic ties on the boots for the original price and the new price markup. She tried to say the two ties were there to hold the price tag on. Such lies and such rip off to the community of Elmwood and all thrift shoppers. I told the store I will not shopping there ever again and that I would be posting this to show all who read this review on how gouging this thrift shop is in the Elmwood Community.
My go to thrift store in Wpg. The clothing area is well organized, spacious & clean. Prices are better than the thrift stores in my end of town( South). The change rooms are closed but you can exchange within 7 days. The household area is huge, as is furniture, again well organized with very helpful/ knowledgeable staff. There is an antique/collectables area separate that has very unique items. Also a room for sporting/exercise equipment that you can try before you purchase large equipment. Delivery is also offered as an option I have appreciated for furniture. If at first you don't find a specific item you need, go back. It will be there for you. Thank you to all staff( mostly volunteers) who keep the place running. Very good friendly service.
I shop here all the time and all the staff are great with one exception. It would be five stars but George is not very polite and repeats wrong pronouns over and over ignoring when he’s corrected. A month ago he did this and I said nothing. Two week ago I corrected him and he said nothing. Today he repeatedly did again I corrected him in front of his manager and coworker she apologized and he said nothing. He even continued talking about me after I left the conversation and referring to me as a man. When someone tells you you are using the wrong pronouns and you choose to ignore that don’t work with the public. Human beings should treat each other with respect. Otherwise I highly recommend this store.
It’s hard to want to continue to support this local thrift store. Some of their stuff is over priced for stuff that is donated (for example, a painting was listed for $150, there was a clock listed for over $150 too) We’ve donated pieces of furniture in the past that they’ve taken but they have refused the past few times we’ve tried to donate furniture. First, they said they don’t take china cabinets (but I’ve seen china cabinets there before) and then we tried donating a good sized office cabinet and they said they don’t do pick ups for one piece of furniture…..but I live 5 minutes away.
My one complaint is that there are no open change rooms and the policy is no refunds. I don't mind the odd purchase that doesn't work out, I just consider it a donation. It doesn't seem right to me to not have fitting rooms available and not offer refunds or exchanges. Otherwise worthwhile to come from time to time, lots of selection and generous prices, well organized. Ive found countless great deals here... vintage plates, Tupperware, curtains, table linens, clothes, books etc. Generally a fair amount to wade through but there are good things to be found here.
My favorite thrift shop to visit in winnipeg. Not that I need more stuff, but the hunt for diamonds in the rough is so enjoyable. The fact that proceeds go to such worthy causes is the icing on the cake. The neat stuff I've found here make regular visits a must. Pricing varies, some items are a bargain, others, well, you can tell the point of view of the person valuing the item is slightly from an older time. In my opinion, electronics tend to be a little on the high side, for what they are. But in general a great place to explore.
Don't try to use their garbage. They'll send out a mouthy kid who with try and act superior towards you, and won't care at all about what you have to say. I have had good experiences there, and they have quality goods. However after that experience with the enforcer of trash bins I'll likely pass it up. If they can allow staff to be rude and power barring I won't support it. They'd rather have a cigarette pack on the ground then in a recycle bin.
Always a nice place to go. The staff are friendly and eager to helo out. The prices vary but are usually reasonable. Public washroom that are clean. Changing rooms available, spacious and clean. The areas are easily noticeable, clothes, toys, crafts, etc. They aren't so close that there isn't a defined area for each. There is an antique area of the store now, they have some really nice stuff there and prices are also reasonable.
Huge thrift shop! The best I have been to. Prices are amazing. I had broken 2 of my wine glasses and was able to replace for .50 cents each with the same ones. Also have gotten beer steins for .25 cents. For the people complaining about prices.. this place is still MUCH cheaper than Value Village. I don't see how they could possibly lower their prices anymore.. and the volunteers are wonderful!
Amazing prices and huge selection. Everything from almost new picture frames, clothes in excellent condition (I bought maternity jeans for $2!!!), and a wide variety of furniture and kitchen tools! I always love the chance to shop here and not only find great deals, not only reduce my consumer footprint by thrifting and reusing, but also getting to support the incredible work that MCC does.
This is the BEST thrift store in Winnipeg. Though I am new to thrifting and their selection may be smaller than Value Village for clothing, they have some great pieces. I got a belt for $0.75, and have never paid more than $3.50 for a shirt. Staff are friendly, the store has security so you feel safe, and there are honestly loads of different items. You're bound to find something.
I love thrifting and this is one of my favourite spots in the city. I always find gems. Their vintage area deserves a special mention for always having one of a kind items. I love that they curate certain areas of the store, such as fashionable/trendy items. The prices are better than the huge chains and the staff are very helpful. Also, the furniture selection is huge.
We have down sized and found out that this is the best place to donate articles, clothing and furniture..We come there quite a lot as we like to see all the new items that other kind people have donated. Alot to chose from. It is kepted very clean and staff are amazing. We never leave empty handed. Love the store! A must to shop at.
Huge thrift store, AMAZING prices, great staff and a decent variety of items and clothing. One of the better thrift stores I've been to!! I love the area with all of the vintage items and the fact that they have fabric, buttons and other sewing and crafting items available! One time I even got a licorice plant there for 40 cents :)
The store is decently priced. However, even if you look like you work and have a lot of money, the security guard will leave his position at the front door to follow you around everywhere. I get hes doing his job but that's a little overboard. Thanks for my purchase of 12 dollars that I was fully committed to paying for.
beware the vintage section. nice volunteers that have no idea what they're doing are attributing goods to designers and brands that are far more valuable than the products they're actually selling. Steer clear and visit a real antique shop or a real thrift shop - you're likely to get ripped off at this hybrid shop.
Fitting rooms closed :( Maybe it's because of covid but I thought they'd be open now since there's not even a mask mandate anymore. It's impossible to find your size at a thrift store if you can't try it on. Prices are good and there's fantastic selection but it doesn't matter if all I can do is look and guess
I have been a loyal customer for 3 years. Last week I was asker to leave my small backpack (I carry instead of purse for safety reasons) in locker...After spending hundreds of $$$ the past 3 years, am I now being suspected of steeling... Fact, there are shoppers with large purses, what's the difference???
The fact that proceeds go to such worthy causes is the icing on the cake. The neat stuff I've found here make regular visits a must. Pricing varies, some items are a bargain, others, well, you can tell the point of view of the person valuing the item is slightly from an older time.
Excellent selection. Friendly staff. Everything well laid out. Prices very reasonable. Went in to find a replacement real silver fork and they had many in stock...50 cents a fork but today was half price. I bought 3!! Such a great find and a worthy organization to support.
I found some great deals on dishes, books, furniture, and household items. Staff are fairly nice, there packing of glass wear needs improvements, got home and a few pieces were broken. Kids clothing I found some designer wear. Noticed prices are higher. Sept 12/22
Well organized and nice array of clothes and household items. I remember coming here years ago and things seem a tad more pricy in certain items. It's nice and clean and staff were very friendly. Weird that you need a loonie to use a cart. Wish they were free.
Love their antique section in the back. This store is an excellent modestly priced thrift store that is always my first stop when I go thrifting. They are well organized, clean and actually have a shop in the back to do minor repairs on items for sale.
They have nice selections, and they're cheaper. My mom loves this place, and she's always happy after shopping here. I've never encountered rude staff, and everyone was friendly. Their fitting room is still closed, though. The place was clean too!
This is a great place to hunt for little treasures. There are incredible bargains to be had here, and always something new to discover. They have done an excellent job of organizing everything in the store, making it easy to find what you want.
Was here a few times, I thought it was a thrift store with donated items guess I am wrong. went today and wanted to purchase an item with no price tag but it was on display. I was told a ridiculous high price and asked if she could find out
The store and all the sales staff have always been awesome when I go here. However, the guys working in the back where you drop off donations are a completely different story. At least 3 different times, I have brought several large bags
Prices are on point. Don't forget to check what colours are on sale. The notice is posted by the fitting rooms! Fitting rooms are still closed as of mid september..so just a heads up. They do allow exchanges within 7 days because of that.
Someone needs to tell this place that not only was the Covid pandemic Blown way out of proportion by the far left media, But all mandates are now over so keeping your change rooms closed to prevent the spread of Covid is actually very
Bought a Sunbeam Mix Master with attachments for $40.00; beater attachments wouldn't stay in after starting; next day took it back telling them why. The person on the floor said, ''I could have told you that!' That's why it
I live 5 minutes drive away and delivery fee is $65.00, bought a $55 desk and paid $65.00 delivery fees. And this thrift store is expensive than others in the city. And unfortunately, this is the closest one where I live.
Love to browse this thrift store. Lots of variety, including furniture. Bought several shelving units and delivery is only 30.00 for everything one buys. I donated a dining table and chairs and they took it apart for me.
Great selection. I always find something new here. Although the fitting rooms are closed, they're able to accommodate by allowing returns up to a week. I wonder when they will bring fitting rooms back?
Process are reasonable. Selection is limited, but that's to be expected as they rely on donated items to sell. I love that they deliver! Delivery pricing is reasonable as well. Good thrift shop!
Love this place! Great people work there, always moving product and reasonable prices which goes to charity. They also take donations and will even do pickups for those who require some help.
I love this place! I usually buy very nice clothing for excellent prices while contributing to environmental sustainability. I recommend it if you are looking for second hand furnitture too!
So many amazing pieces of furniture here. I seriously had to contain myself but am already looking forward to coming back again Why buy new when this place exists? …
Love this place. Great deals on all sorts of treasures highly recommend it.we go often, take in stuff qe don't need any longer. After that we scour the store for deals.
This place not a very good environment. A lot of the staff are very judgemental and rude. Racist and disrespectful. I do not-recommend going here. I’m so upset.
I primarily go for their antiques section. Prices are great, the volunteers are friendly, and they tend to have higher quality items than other thrift stores.
It seems like every time I head into this thrift store, I find a gem or exactly what I was looking for, so can't argue with that! Prices are fair as well.
Always fantastic items..the vintage section is amazing..great parking..and today a lady was playing the most beautiful music on the piano! Good sales!
Great affordable prices on second hand items. Always find something more interesting than what I intended to get. Staff are great and helpful too
love this place! one of my all time fav thrift stores. prices are so cheap and selection is great. much better than the expensive value village
I found this beautiful piece of art love this place staff are always friendly always clean keep up the great work a solid 4.5 Stars
Always surprises. Nice collection of furnitures and kitchenware. I like the crystal stuff there. Good quality and low price.
Friendly staff, great items, reasonable prices, and I love vintage lane. It’s one of my go to stores for most of my needs.
One of the best 2nd hand stores around!
Some good finds. Prices make sense.
