I needed a root canal on my first right molar; for me, this experience was essentially painless and like an extended filling. It may have been slightly less comfortable in some ways but I just focused on my breathing (4s in; 7s hold; 8s exhale) and he finished the most uncomfortable/major parts of the procedure in 1/3 of the time! The 2hr duration of a root canal was probably the majority of the cause for my apprehension, but the ancient philosopher Seneca said, “We often suffer more in imagination than in reality”. I often find that to be the case but if you are Stoic like Seneca and do your best to allow the procedure to go unhindered, you will very likely be served with an excellent root canal if you are unfortunate to need one! I cannot yet attest to the quality of the long-term experience but after the experience itself, I found myself to be in a state of much relief! I took Ibuprofen as advised and my tooth is and currently has been the least of my problems. I have no reason to doubt this will last me well. Glad I could cross one more of the more pressing pressing problems I had (that cavity that got to the nerve) off, thanks very much for what was basically a best case scenario Dr. Kohlman!

I am a person who has really awful anxiety when I go to the dentist. As a result, I’ve neglected to care for my teeth in the past, and just assumed I would always have poor oral health. The entire staff here has been so welcoming and reassuring every step of the way. They have listened to my list of worries, and explained every procedure. During my crown work, I was literally sweating, and Dr. Kohlman told me he was proud of me for pushing through the anxiety and doing a really difficult thing. I don’t think I have the words to describe the wave of positive emotions that washed over me in that moment. I cannot tell you what it means to have that sort of genuine beside manner. If you are like me, and you feel anxious, give this dentist office a try. I may never be excited to get dental work done, but I am no longer ashamed or willing to neglect my oral health.

I had a rough time on a scooter Friday evening and chipped both of my front teeth! I called the office at 5:50 PM on Friday (dedication!) and they were able to get me in at 8:10 AM Monday. I was previously a patient of Dr. Lessner, and this was first visit with Dr. Kohlman- it was a great experience. He took the time to explain a few options and gave me great advice as to the best course of treatment, I figured this would take forever and cost a fortune. The opposite was true! The out-of-pocket cost was totally affordable, and, even better, within 5 minutes of the decision, he'd started work (which progressed quickly). He and his assistant also took plenty of time to explain aftercare, etc. Will definitely be remaining with this practice!

I’m a long-established patient and have received attentive and effective dental care and dental cleaning services from Central Austin Dental. I have benefited from Dr. Lessner’s care and now have met Dr. Kohlman, who is continuing his practice. In hearing Dr. Kohlman’s side of a follow-up call to a patient following a procedure during my visit today, I’m convinced he has an excellent bedside manner and rapport with his patients. And Dot, who is a dental hygienist with Central Austin Dental, has earned my confidence and trust. I see her regularly. She’s been accommodating beyond compare, and has made excellent suggestions about how I can improve my dental health. In following suit, I have made great and satisfying progress.

Excellent experience and I’m pretty fussy about dentists. Dr Coleman has taken over this practice and is thoroughly credible - he knows his stuff - and is able to put patients at ease, he takes time to get to know you and your dental needs, and is a fun person. My first experience was a broken tooth needing a crown, and I’m very happy with the overall experience. Recommended. May 24th: So updated review 1 month or so after getting the permanent crown fitted, the thing fits perfectly in terms of bite, looks great aesthetically and sits perfectly alongside the rest of my teeth in terms of spacing for flossing. First class experience overall.

I had been suffering for 4 days with a bad tooth ache finally got an appointment with an Endo doctor and was told that I needed an extraction. I called KoLa dental hoping I would not have to go through another night of throbbing pain although their schedule was full Dr.Kolman told his office manager that he would see me and do the extraction. He was great! He made sure I was numb as numb could be very patient and explained exactly what I would be experiencing in detail. What seemed like 2 minutes the tooth was out and it I was on my way. This place is swell. I came to this practice to see Dr Lessner for several years before he retired. Dr K took over and the excellent service and customer care has thankfully remained. I think it says a lot when a provider can move on and most, if not all, of the staff stick around to continue their trajectory of quality dentistry. Whether you want your mouth to be in the best hands possible or if you want the best hands in your mouth, KoLa Family Dentistry is the place to go. From the office workers, hygienists, the boss man, and everyone in between, this place is the bees knees.

The dentists here are so nice. Even though it was kind of hard to book an appointment, I told them that I had to move and if there's any opening before my moving date I would come and they called me when there was a space. I had 3 fillings done a few months ago and just got my teeth cleaned recently. The dentist (I forgot her name!) was so patient and helpful. She literally told me that if I find a new dentist for cleaning in 6 months and they tell me to do more (fillings etc.) just walk away because my teeth are good and no need for that.

Dr. Kohlman and his dental assistant Kathy were amazing and fit me in during Dr. Kohlman's lunch hour. I somehow misunderstood my dental cleaning appointment date and time and presented with a crown that had dislodged the week before. Their schedule was tight that day and rather than send me away they rescheduled my appointment for a few hours later which was during Dr. Kohlman's lunch hour. The procedure took the entire hour and they worked tirelessly to rebuild the base for my temporary crown. They do what they can to help you!

I was visiting my daughter in Austin and was needing to see the dentist for a regular cleaning and a check up. My daughter brought me to this dentist, Dr Kohlman. I think they are very professional and got me an appointment fast. Dr Kohlman was explaining to me what the issue were in plain English and then got me fitted for 1 crown and several fillers. He did a great job! It was fast and painless. His whole team are very courteous and kind to me. I highly recommend them to anyone and will come back again when needed to.

I have been going to this practice for ten years and have been very satisfied. I particularly appreciate the friendly and efficient communication with the team and the clear, straightforward cost estimates. The care I have received so far was conservative (no unnecessary procedures, focus on preserving existing tissues). While I have not yet had a procedure with Dr. Kohlman, who took over the practice recently, I trust that this practice will continue to provide the same level of care as it did in the past.

Had the preliminary work to replace some bridge work today. Because it was 40 years old, decay underneath caused the cement to fail, therefor it was necessary to find and remove all signs of decay. Dr. Kohlman worked well over an hour to make sure the new bridge lasts another 40 years. He worked so hard to insure the success of this surgery that it was obvious he just wanted me to feel whole again. I am humbled by his work ethic and feel very fortunate to be under his care.

Great dentist, superb staff- I’ve been a client since going to UT (in the 80’s) and I can’t recommend the professionalism and down home charm highly enough. I’ve been through 3 dentists here (I’m that old) and they keep the office professional and motivated. Excellent process, staff, and support! I was in right upon arrival with my appointment. They did the X-Rays and 3D model of my teeth, and then I went right along to my cleaning completely seamlessly. The office and dental staff were fantastic! They answered my questions and helped me understand each step, and the team even helped manage my baby throughout the visit - just above and beyond with care and friendly support.

Dr. Lessner is an amazing doctor, he is one of the best doctors that I have ever been to, in any discipline. He is knowledgeable, he explains things very well, the staff and the office are very honest and upfront with everything. I have to drive quite a bit of distance to see him, but I am willing to since he is a great doctor. BTW - he never sells you something that you don't need. I truly respect that. Great doctor.

Spent more time in the waiting room, than in the chair. Once in the chair, a few seconds later, I was informed that it would either be a 200$ problem, or a 2k$ problem. Cost me over 100$ just to find out, that they had no idea. It seemed that they had no desire to work with a hispanic male, with no insurance, willing to pay cash, than the rest of their usual, proper clientele. Won't be going back, needless to say.

Dr. Kohlman was great! He talked to me about my cracks in my tooth and let me decide which way I wanted to proceed. I ended up scheduling for a crown but my tooth literally broke (a risk we talked about) a few days before the procedure and I honestly couldn’t believe it. We ended up being able to save it without a root canal and I’m so thankful! Highly recommend if you’re looking for an honest look at your teeth.

I don't understand being asked to REVIEW every service you receive . Where I work you can scan a code and review your dinner before you leave . It's become out of control with people that take advantage of it with a sense of personal justice . If I felt compelled to write a glowing or negative experience review I would do it on my own . This has nothing to do with the dentist office ; they do a great job .

First time that I've gone to the dentist and not felt judged in any way. The staff were extremely nice and polite. I received accurate cost estimates of all procedures ahead of time and was given multiple options. Everything was explained to me in clear English and made quick and simple. I had major "dentist anxiety" before my first appointment, but now I wouldn't hesitate to come back to see Dr. Kohlman.

The staff has always been very helpful, courteous and friendly and they make you feel like family. My hygienist Dot is awesome, super nice and does an excellent job cleaning the teeth. And then the dentist gave me a major hard sell on “proactive or reactive dentistry.” I was embarrassed for him but more disgusted by for-profit medicine…pushing procedures that may or may not be necessary, you decide.
