Wow - can't wait to go back! When you enter you are greeted with a feast for the eyes of bulk pantry items, and unique ones as well! Kolatek has a variety of whole grains, flours, seeds, herbs, spices, teas, dried fruits, and edible flowers. Their organic produce is some of the best we had ever seen! And then there is the bakery - breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, all reasonably priced. We bought a spelt flour bapka (amazing flavor and perfect texture) and a 2lb loaf of whole grain bread (delicious), combined less than $5. The deli is a treat of Polish and Eastern European meats, spreads, smoked sausages, salads, vegetable dishes, and of course pierogi. Then there is the grocery store itself - a dry good and frozen foods culinary gift for those of us who don't live in Chicago! It is worth the drive! Bring your cooler. Ample parking.

After knowing about this place the last few years, I finally stopped in yesterday morning, convinced in part by all the positive reviews but also by the in-depth descriptions of the bread program here on Kolatek's website. As someone with some health issues that call for dietary restrictions, I really appreciate the detail and even the tips on the care and keeping of fresh bread! I found gluten free options, and many more, in this spacious, clean and well-appointed store. I love that I can buy hard-to-find flours here in bulk AND get pickles, smoked and cured meats, farm eggs, and so much more. This place will be in my regular grocery rotation from now on; who needs the big box "organic" stores when everything I need I can find between here and at Caputo's across the street?!

  • Wanda Mareka

I like their meat products, fresh and tasty. However, prices are way too high when compare to other Polish stores in the Chicago area. And also, they don't really have unique products, the same ham and sausage or bacon sells in other Polish stores. On top of that, they are charging now for bagging your food. Insane! I got bunch of grocery items and the young cashier ask me 'do you want a bag'. Almost fainted. Of course, I am not going to take that stuff with my bare hands to my car. I was not the only one to be surprised with their new policy charging extra for a plastic grocery bag. Oh well, am glad there are other Polish stores close by so I can do grocery shopping in a new place. Would not recommend.

Prepare to wait for a long time to be served, not that there’s so many people buying or not enough staff it’s just they don’t feel like taking care of customers. Was standing in from of the Deli for 5min, 5 staff members behind the counter and just 1 other customer and left after being ignored for long enough. Apparently cheese arrangement on the shelves is more important than actual sales. Food is decent if not spoiled, also it happened that I threw away spoiled food right after leaving the store as I had no way of coming back an returning. Bread and rolls are ok.

Excellent neighborhood deli/bakery/grocery store. This place caters mostly to the Polish/Ukrainian crowd but dont let that scare you off. They do have Americans working there and the Polish ladies that work there are good at understanding what you need. The deli is a bit smaller on selection than others but the real star of this place is their in house bakery. Lots of fresh organic breads to choose from as well as buns, sweet rolls, and other pastries. They also have a good selection of food ready to eat and lots of products from Poland to buy.

I like Kolatek because it packs quite a selection. In a pretty small place. Great cold cuts, a decent range of pierogi, very good bread, especially rye and sprouted breads, nice smoked fish, quite a selection of salads and cooked foods. I would not go for the fresh fruit and vegetables, but Caputo’s’s is right across the street after all. They also have a nice selection of health foods and cosmetics. I do not think the baked goods are that good, except for bread. They are ok, just nothing special.

  • Kathy Takowski

Used to come here ALL the time for their bread and deli. Came here the other day and have never been treated so unprofessionally by their staff. These women are rude, unprofessional and act like they’re there as a chore. And on top of that have the audacity to talk back to you after they packed the wrong item, while the owner is standing and watching this all happen and doesn’t say one word. Never going back here again. Complete joke.

A small little Polish market that is far more known for their bakery and deli. Patrons that go here swear by their bakery and their pacski during Fat Tuesday. but I think the hype surrounding the Pacski caused my expectations to be too high. They're just over glamorized donuts in my opinion, but they had at least 2 dozen flavors. Lots of fairly priced grains sold here and it's a quick trip. In and out in 20 minutes max.

Kolatek's bakery is the best place for Polish bread in all of Chicagoland. I believe that they bake fresh bread every day except Sunday. My favorite is the 7-grain bread (siedem zbóż). Their dinner rolls / buns are outstanding. Their deli offers many delicious cheeses, meats and prepared dishes. The store is also stocked with many Polish staple foods. Don't leave without picking out something sweet!

I love to stop by once in a while when nearby and get some food on the go such as half a pound of their cucumber salad or tuna salad. I ask for a spoon and enjoy my eat and go and I’m always satisfy. I love the new flavors I get to taste every day on their foods! I also like to try some of their breads or chocolates that I’ve not tried before; it’s like a foodie taste of adventure!

  • Johanna Brocker

This is a small grocery store that dedicates itself to organic foods. they make their own bread and they have 20 or 30 different kinds of bread as well as pastries cheeses and cakes they have a deli with many many take-home Foods they have many different kinds of meats and they have excellent chicken their eggs or have several selections organic kinds and their prices are good

  • Chris Cormier

My wife Aleksandra is pregnant and was unable to cook for thanksgiving but Kolatek's bakery provided us food to make this Thanksgiving special. The prices for meats, cheese, and baked goods are the low priced but the quality is beyond excellent. It is helpful to speak Polish, but if you don't just ask for someone who speaks English and you'll be happy to come back again.

  • Maria L

I was today in the store at Harlem and I wanted to buy some ready , prepared food . The lady at deli was not nice , and 1.she was taking food by bare hands , without any sanitary gloves and was serving food, 1.food was not fresh and cold, 3.prices too high compering to other stores. I will never go there and I will not recommend this store to others !

  • Tomasz Samczynski

Pretty good stuff. They have fresh bread and mostly fresh lunch meats about 95% if the time. The also make food ready to go, and it's always good. Theres also a small selection of organic products like Supernatural. By far my favorite Polish food store in the area. The bread selection is unbeatable, like plum bread or potato flour bread, great choice.

  • Anna Phillips

This place makes dinners you can reheat at home. This time I bought chicken masala. It was very tasty. They also make their own pierogi. Very good. They also have a deli and a bakery. I love the other Polish products like candy . You can also find moisturizers and dish soap. It is fun to try new products from Poland and they are all natural.

  • M J

Love them. Food is mostly delicious. The only but I have is the weird set up for the line. You have to wait separately in the sweets line, than bakery, then deli even though all are next to each other. It makes one customer have to wait in three seperate lines. Such a weird set up. I wish they clarified it and made it a smoother process.

  • Kasia Pierga

Delicious baked goods, homemade inexpensive dinners, salads as well as meat & cheese deli choices. Highly recommend their fresh baked bread and ham without preservatives. Clean, bright and stocked. They have English, Polish and Ukrainian speaking associates ready to assist. Bartek - thank you for your help today, I really appreciate it.

  • Fadi Yassine

Definitely well deserving of five stars! All of their breads and salads are fresh and homemade. My go to place when I want some really great Polish food. Customer service is always amazing and it’s extremely clean in here! It’s pricey, but well worth it because everything is handmade like your mother or aunt makes it!

  • People Getready

Awesome place for fresh bread. Some of our favorites: sourdough, gluten-free, and lots of other varieties. Unique tea in bulk: rose, hibiscus, German chamomile,... Spices, flours, and grains in bulk, both organic and conventional. Sheep cream cheese, even garlic flavored... Love their beet salad with horseradish.

  • Patt Angels

Used to love this store. But their "fresh" meat isn't' that fresh at all. Good store, but avoid their "fresh" meat. Could be 5 star if they cared about their customers little more and did not sell stinky/smelly meat that makes people sick and were supposed to be thrown away long time ago. Good bread though …

  • John Kuhnlein

Going here is really like going on a trip to Poland. When I was in the store everyone else was speaking polish. They have a lot of Great Eastern European food. They have their own Bakery. The prices are very reasonable. I would recommend going just to walk around and soak up the atmosphere if nothing else

  • Jesse Soriano

The lady attendant at the deli side (young one) is very feisty and has a long face what ever you ask her she reply upset and in a bad manner, I'm getting paczki today and asking the flavors they got, but is last time im getting anything from this store!!!!! …

  • Lucas Szczesny

Don't know of any other Polish bakery and store that puts so much effort into the quality and health of the food. They truly want to do good, with a great selection of healthy Polish bakery products & meats! I highly recommend their Natural Sausages, Hams and Canadian Bacon!!!

  • Diana Incandella

Great Polish food. A big selection and ready made stuffed cabbage and pork roasts, chicken stuffed with veggies. Home breads and homemade soups. Big selection of sausages and lunch meats and cheese. Great bakery goods and a great selection dried teas and herbs.

  • Aneta Krzywosz

This deli/bakery has all of the Polish regular food and rarities! They have a bit of Kefir flavor options that I haven't seen anywhere else, like the Aloe flavor. Prices range from really cheap for some stuff, to expensive-ish (for the fresh deli stuff mostly).

  • Uliana Kolinko

Absolutely amazing store...We live in Virginia...here in Oak Park just for a couple days... This store is Fantastic!!!! It makes me want to move to Chicago! Anybody who lives away from home for long time will understand! …

  • Maverick

It was our first visit here Very impressed with the cleanliness of the store and the variety of Polish food All the employees very helpful We travelled to this location from Louisville Kentucky to stock up on Polish food Will definitely be back

  • Marybeth

Good selection of Polish imports, small fresh produce section, moderate supply of organics & bulk herbs. Lots of bakery and shelved sweets. Good deli & prepared hot dishes. Some items priced on high end that can be found at less cost nearby.

  • Scott Bailey

Delicious breads, baked fresh on-site. Can grab a hot lunch including pierogis and smoked salmon while grabbing groceries. Offers a wide variety of imported foodstuffs in addition to kitchen staples. Good assortment of gluten free options.

  • Paulina Fadrowska

Great Polish selections of pastries, breads, unique paczkę, and prepared foods. Plenty of parking back, clean, staff is friendly and helpful in choosing goods. You'll have to bring your heavy wallet as everything is so appetizing hehe =)

  • Mari Yadro

Clean and organized. Friendly and helpful staff. We carried out many items from deli, bakery and frozen pierogies for dinner. Everything was delicious. Great selection of items throughout store. Many imported items. I am going back.

Love this authentic Polish bakery/deli. So glad to have found it since moving away from my favorite Polish bakery/delis in the South Suburbs. The selection is great, food is amazing and the staff is super friendly.

  • Epic Life

The desserts are not fresh....they may look fresh and presentable, but don't be fooled. They are not flavorful, but dry...I will not return and I definitely do not recommend this place. Go elsewhere.

  • Data Solutions

Bought 1 lb $1.99 per pound sausage, was charged for wrong item $6.39 per pound over $7 bucks. Try to call store few times with in business hours but nobody was able to fix the error, waste of time.

  • David Kaput

Very good Polish deli bakery Frozen fresh food to go or cook food from their hot section excellent too their own bakery and breads and pastries very good and sausage prices are very reasonable.

  • Ricky

Very disappointed with their cakes. We ordered raspberry cake for our kids birthday and they made is cappuccino with some raspberries and a ton of cream/frosting. Way too much cream filling.

  • Nashy Trucking

  • Zbigniew Barszczewski

I give 5 ★ although prices are a little bit high. This is what you pay for quality, wide choice of goods (as for such a small store), and a good service. You must check it yourself.

  • Maciej Proksa

Great place. Didn't visit them for at least t good 6 years, but it was worth it. Delicious polish style food. It's much better than Deli4You, where I usually bought deli products.

  • Chifaa Dorhmi

Good selection of food and cakes. Traditional Polish food to-go. Cakes are ok compared to.othet Polish bakeries. Still a good place for authentic Polish food and desert.

  • Mateusz Gorski

Used to be a great polish store. Now it's pathetic, a joke, no authenticity at all. Unbelievably rude staff. Food isn't fresh. Plenty of better Polish stores near by.

  • Junior Martinez

waterbugs and cockroaches on the walls and ceilings and in deli, is attrocious and disgusting, otherwise staff is nice, but horrid insects present of food is a no-no
