For a place I had always experienced somewhat packed every time I walked by it in the past , I only stopped in to get a snack and something to drink because it was desolate and there would be no waiting . And thankfully , there wasnt. The danish could have been softer , but it was good nonetheless. Where I really rate these places is when I order milk . Some places automatically fail because they don't offer milk , even if its to sell me a cup from their kitchen fridge for an @b$urd $12 or something. But this place did offer milk on their menu. In a cup. 2%. And for the price of $3.50 ..... Which I suppose could have been cheaper , right ? But its on par with the area's median milk prices (some 24 hour convenience store around the corner from here sold me a half gallon for almost $9 a few weeks back at 4 in the mo'nin' ..... Convenient for who, right ?). But the milk from L.A. CAFE was icy cold , served nicely in a cup and presented classy with a straw....so my semi complaints end at the price . The girl who served me and helped me at the register couldn't have been cuter and more attentive if she wanted to ....so the overall experience is one I would recommend if ever in downtown and need grub and you want to support local small businesses . LA Café all the way !

I had their tuna melt a long time ago and it was delish. My ultra nice co-worker, who recently promoted, treated us to sandwiches ordered for delivery from here. It's been a while since I have had anything from LA Café so I had her order for me. She got me the lobster and cheese panini. The sandwich was still warm when it arrived. Being that it was delivered, the bread was already soft. It would be awesome to eat it on site as I know it would be toasted outside and soft in the middle. It's a big sandwich, thankfully it was cut in half. I felt full with just the half. We also got a bag of kettle fried chips- my fave. This cafe is located on the busy Spring St. of DTLA, it's a small cafe with nice employees. They offer delivery within a 3 mile radius, which most of the employees from our company take advantage of. Delivery driver was nice.

I came across this place while wandering DTLA. I decided to walk in and was intrigued by the amount of awards the place won. They have a small bar area where you can eat by the window and some seats outside. I wasn't really hungry, but because parking is hard, and I was curious to try the food, I decided to try something on their menu. They offer some pastries that looked like they had better days, and some donuts that also looked quite aged. So I took a look at their menu that mainly consists of breakfast items and diner food. They have a wide variety of items to choose from, so I decided to try their Crispy Breakfast Tacos. I was happy to find that it was made to order, since it took a bit of time to get my food. I brought it home and was also pleased to find that it was still crispy. I wasn't too fond of the crispy shell, and the flavors was just okay. I was happy with the avocado, but was not blown away. But, this is a great place to pop in when you're hungry and looking for something to grub on, they are open very late!

My boyfriend and I were there and we ordered the lobster grilled cheese and it was excellent. When I first came in a gentleman was at the counter and I asked if I could use the restroom, he kindly took me back and let me use the restroom while we waited for food, we dined in. When we were about to leave another gentleman who said he was the owner was at the front desk area and my boyfriend asked if he could use the restroom (you have to get a key)the gentleman was like we don't let people use the restroom in here and it's been like that for years. My boyfriend proceeded to say my girlfriend just used the bathroom when we came in. He acted like he didn't believe him. He proceeded to say that he was the owner and acted like we were attacking him saying that we were being mean because we questioned why we just spent $50 in your business and you won't let your customers use the restroom. Needless to say it didn't end well. We had words and will never go back there again.

I wanted to like LA Café, badly. Whatever you do, stay away from ordering sandwiches on a baguette . That supposed baguette is among the worst I have had in my life...it was dry, stale and chewy in a bad way. I had an egg sandwich in the baguette and I Just couldn't finish it, the baguette bread was that bad. Also stay clear of the croissant . It is not a real croissant, but a cheap white bread in the shape of a half moon. No real butter, no flakiness..just pure chewiness that reminds me of Subway's yoga matt infused breads. Yikes. Other than that I had an Angus beef sandwich the night before in its original panini bread, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef was tender and juicy, the panini bread was delicious, toasted on the outside and soft inside My advice to the owners, stick to what you do well and eliminate breads (French from what I know) that are subpar. I included a picture of LA Cafe's excellent Panini

The staff here is very friendly and easy going, stopped by on Sunday morning after a nice long walk with the wifey and this place caught my attention due to the foot traffic in and out if this place, uber eats pick up, to go orders, line to order food, and the few people eating outside of this place. Took a look at some pictures on Google of the food. We decided to give it a try. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and the wifey ordered a chicken pesto sandwich. I would say after trying both, I would highly recommend this place. They are both good items, but in my opinion, I would definitely go back and order the breakfast burrito with the chicken sausage it was kind of strange to me that they don't offer bacon here but let me tell you that apple wood chicken sausage complements that burrito. Thank you, staff, for the recommendation and for being so patient and friendly.

The service was good but the food was just ok, friendly staff in an extremely small Cafe that is best for take out especially that there are no restrooms available for guests. The fish and chips were just ok in my opinion but I would be willing to try other items from the menu, the bakery were delicious though. They recommended the lobster grilled cheese but I wasn't in the mode for that, maybe if I'm the area again I'll give it a try. I would recommend this spot as a late night alternative to the big chains that are open 24 hours.

Kid-friendliness
Not a place to take kids at night, downtown L.A. is not the safest of areas.
My daughter loves this place and we were in downtown area so I wanted to finally try it. Of course parking is… I parked in red with hazards on. Who knows what delivery people might do. Anyways, I ordered the steak and mushroom panini. It has pesto sauce, arugula, roasted tomato, and Swiss cheese, a focaccia type bread. It also comes with homemade potato chips. OMG!!! Yummy. You can’t have it delivered because it’s not going to be as hot. Man when you take a bite when it’s just finished; it’s like the 4th of July in your mouth. Yes…I know the cliche. Lol. My daughter had a chicken wrap. That’s her favorite so I would have to assume it yummy. This place has allot to offer. Dessert as well. This place also has good customer service. Definite must try!!!

Women behind counter was not rude but not friendly. Food took too long, we ordered a burger and ck & waffles. People who ordered after us received their food first, multiple people. They gave me the wrong flavored pastry and no syrup for my waffles. When I looked inside the bag I thought I saw the syrup but realized it was actually ketchup when I got to the hotel. I am just visiting here and there was no syrup provided at my hotel. As far as the pastry I'm not super picky usually so I just took the raspberry they already wrapped up and put in the bag. Chicken tenders kind of reminded me of the frozen nuggets you get at Walmart instead of actual chicken tenders. Other than that my friend enjoyed his burger and the fries were good. The atmosphere was cool inside, outside needed more upkeep.

The Salmon Tacos were good but i didn't get to try the mango salsa because it was out of stock. The steak tacos are really good. The customer service was great. They have a restroom available for customers only but a person went in last night. We were waiting for 10 to 12 minutes. We decided to leave. I didn't see the tables being wipe down just plates being removed. I am mentioning this because it Downtown LA so, homeless people will sit down and ask for money then eat off left over food from plates. With viruses travel around just one purell hand sanitizer won't cut it. Washing tables after customer leave will help. There are four seats available inside the restaurant. They weren't wipe down after customer were done eating. But again last night a guy was taking up two seats reading, with a backpack, a sleeping bag and backpack. But, he had his foot on resting on the other sit.
The employees are very nice but a little hard of hearing (not trying to be rude). Maybe turn the music down a bit? Every time I come in I have to yell my order and repeat myself more than twice. I’ve gotten donuts in the past and they are good but a little overpriced in my opinion. I was a little disappointed in their “big plate” of seared salmon. The portions are not big. There is more veggies than anything. The salmon was good, but a little bland, have had and made a lot better. It was cut into nuggets (?) which caught me off guard lol. The mashed potatoes were actually my favorite part of this plate. Their Thai tea though is definitely amazing. One of my favorites for sure. There is always a line when I stop by, but the wait isn’t long at all! Small front house area that feels a little cramped at times, with little seating outside.
Took a long stroll to find this place after hearing such great reviews. It was obvious they have their regulars and a fair share of people to come in as they got really busy. It is more or less a walk-up counter with display cases for pastries and grab-and-go sides and beverages (several healthy options, fruit, Kombucha, juices, etc.). The seating is very limited with four (4) counter stools inside by the window and a few sidewalk tables outside. It took a while to receive the food after ordering, but certainly worth the long wait. Again, they were busy. Not a bad problem...

Late Night Spot: When I’m not getting hibachi burritos from @bachiyaki_la, I’m getting the lobster grilled cheese + tomato soup from @thelacafe. They used to be 24hrs but, since covid, it’s only open until 3am (which is still 1hr later than Bachi Yaki). They have a pretty extensive menu, and you can order online. They don’t have a bathroom though ☹️ and seating is pretty limited (still more than most food trucks), but solid for carry out after the clubs close. I slide my lil order in online and it’s a pretty swift transaction.

This place has the most amazing California burritos. Like it's mouth watering. It's my late night craving, I come here around midnight and there's always a line and lot of times I wait for 20 minutes but it's so worth it. I don't know if it's the special mayo or the steak that's actually delicious lol or the fries. I think it's the combination of all that that makes it oh so so good. It's only the second place downtown that I found so far that actually has great burritos. Kind of expensive though, 14 bucks with tax.

An early morning breakfast stop at L.A. Cafe....a small place with a lot of atmosphere, it's nice to hear staff laughing and having fun. The whole menu is available all day....I had the carne assada wrap...phenomenal, probably the best thing I've eaten in LA. Can't recommend it highly enough. Also had avocado tomato toast sandwich which we asked for no hummus and instead cream cheese. No issue at all and again a nice plate of food. If you're staying downtown, hell even if you're not...come have the wrap.

Steak & egg breakfast sandwich without bread. Basically a delicious omelette. I dig the carmelized onions. If this were a sandwich, it would be kinda large. I enjoyed it. Walk if you can. Parking always sucks downtown and sometimes traffic just makes it worse
Giving 4 stars because food is generally good for price. Don’t order the salmon plate if you’re craving salmon though because you will receive the most miserable, meager, minor, and all the adjectives for small, amount of Salmon. I swear my plate was 90% vegetable and potato. Disappointed and dissatisfied with it to such a level that I didn’t even feel like eating the plate anymore. The level of let down I feel rn is insane. I got three pieces of salmon that fit in the palm of my hand. Look at the lemon wedge for comparison. Do better guys.
I recently placed a delivery order from here. Boy was I disappointed today when I saw my bank statement. The driver took it upon himself to give himself a tip. We tipped him in cash when the order was delivered. I can't believe that he gave himself nearly $10 for an order he took two blocks away. I always send guests from the hotel I work at here. Not anymore! I'll just tell them to Uber eats or grubhub from now on.

So here’s the thing. For a 24/hr spot this is your go to. The shakes are bomb and the food is solid for the late night munchie or drunk run. The sliders are pretty fire and the homemade chips are even better that come with it. The chicken bites are amazing and actually are chicken breast. The chicken sandwich was WACk because it wasn’t real chicken it was processed nugget so I can’t give them that. Other than that they ARE AMAZING for some serious food late night!
My coworkers and I had recently ordered lunch from LA Cafe. I had ordered their chicken bites with their harissa aioli, it smelled good BUT it tasted stale and super dry. From the looks of the chicken, it must’ve been sitting in the freezer for weeks before frying them. Did NOT sit well in my stomach. Also, the dipping sauce (harissa aioli) tasted really sour. :( Never again. lol

Didn't enjoy the Tacos tortillas cold to gourmet keep the Tacos Real on the street style version would be choice, had the burgers there those are with the fries wasn't to feeling the chips they made there but Tacos I should keep it Real myself and got REAL street stuff like AL Pastor, or something like that other than that it's OK busy but definitely not getting Tacos there not for me. Maybe the some of the Burgers again but I'll pass on the Tacos.

Honestly disappointed.. order a Caesar salad, sandwhich and tomato soup around 2 am, they close at 3.. they gave me some sort of black bean soup instead of tomato.. I’m allergic to black bean… they could have just said they were out and doordash would have refunded me.. so that’s lame. The salad also honestly is so mid.. sandwhich is very average and dry.. idk I was really looking forward to this place I’ve heard awesome things
The Chipotle Chicken Sandwich was nice and so was the Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie. The smoothie was not too sweet. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. This is a great late night place to get food from but I would recommend ordering takeout. I wouldn't sit here since there are a lot of homeless people around and it didn't feel comfortable.

upscale and well-run. The food is decent but leans more toward the ordinary and lacks flavor. Despite having too much sauce, the ravioli was tasty. The noodles were not a big hit with Hubby. It's something I'd suggest to people who prefer a bland meal over a spicy one in order to keep their stomachs happy. Please don't misinterpret my review. We only have two viewpoints. I wholeheartedly endorse this restaurant's cuisine.
Staff was very ptofessional and polite. Coffee was good and the sausage and egg breakfast sandwich was alright I don't think I would order it again but it's a nice spot to sit outside drink a warm coffee and watch crazy LA happen lol

Ordered dinner and breakfast from here. Breakfast was huge, was way better than expected. Delivery will take about 50 minutes but it's worth it. Inside, the place has coffee, donuts, pastries, huge cookies and every kind of sandwich you could want. There's limited seating both indoors and out (caution if you eat outside in the evening, there will be homeless people asking for change).
Well this is what I call a big sandwich. It was good but nothing special either. What can you expect from a turkey sandwich anyways? Haha. Tiny space outdoors so good luck grabbing a space. I would say this is the perfect spot to grab something fast and be on your way. If that's what you are looking for then this is one of those in the area. Pics taken with Pixel 4 XL
Came in around 3:30am to get energized for a road trip. From the moment I walked in I was greeted and was able to order pretty fast. Customer Service was A1! If you want something sweet make sure you try a Trix Smoothie! The Vanilla Chai Latte is pretty good! The lobster Grilled cheese is life! Will definitely stop by again! They are open 24Hours
I'm so glad we stopped here for coffee. The staff was very friendly. I had their very soft and fluffy croissant. I Only gave it a 4 star bc they need to get rid of the panhandlers in front of the café asking for money while trying to enjoy my breakfast. I would recommend this lil gem to anyone who is visiting the LA area it has changed so much.
Terrible service but the food is good. Ibwork for a food delivery service and hate picking up here. The employees act like you are bothering them. Their system for pick up is awful the worst I've seen in three states. There is always a long wait and they don't pay attention. Always multiple employees conversating not helping.
We specifically ordered dairy free with notes of allergy, and was given two wraps with feta cheese and cheddar cheese. We didn’t notice till we had eaten several bites, which is our fault for not checking, but still very disappointing. I understand one can make mistakes, but that’s a really dangerous one…! More

Great food! It's been there for me through thick and thin, managing to not be ridiculously overpriced while being in the heart of dtla. Open til 3 am and offers the widest variety of food under one roof in the neighborhood. Deserves this 5 stars.

Overpriced hipster food. $8 for a breakfast burrito with chicken sausage? I'll stick to my taco trucks. Service was very slow too. I went to the bathroom and still had to wait 5 minutes for my food. I only stopped there to use the bathroom.
First time visit today and didn't regret it at all. Tasty & decent food for the price. Also a shout-out to their friendly, fun, and respectful staff. I ordered the Pesto Chicken panini and it was delicious and enough food for the day.

One of my all-time favorite DTLA food spots. 24 hrs a day is a huge plus. And their menu is so extensive it's hard to choose. Update: September 2018 - they updated the menu! Will eat my way thru the new menu and report back :)

The barista is also the cashier so he is quick and focused. I got a cookie and a Thai iced tea. Service was awesome. His small talk made my morning.

Was barely sober enough to stand when I walked in, but I seem to recall thinking "this is tasty" during the process. Also, I came because/appreciate that they serve vegan options
DoorDashed from this place my last night in LA & it was so good I was stunned. The lobster grilled cheese was so good.

Great, cozy cafe that's open 24 hours and had options for everyone, including vegan and vegetarian. They have kombucha bottled drinks and donuts, too. Plus breakfast 24/7!
Sandwiches had the perfect crisp to them, service was friendly, and atmosphere is average (small little spot)

The place doesn’t provide area to wash hand. Also, there is no tray to use while dining in. The omelette was below average. I will not come again to this place.
Fun little take out spot. Everything was fairly tasty. The tater tots were nice and crunchy. And they have fresh jalapeños they can add to any sandwich.
My daughter loves this place and we were in downtown area so I wanted to finally try it.

LA Cafe got a variety of food and service is good and price is fair. However it's quiet cold to Dine outside aside from that it's great
Great place for late night cravings since it's open 24/7. Their food is of great quality too. It gets very crowded on weekend nights.
Dry sandwich & dino buddies nuggets. Making profit off the name of the building not the quality of the food. First and last time
This is the GO TO! Especially for the late nights. The breakfast burrito, with a coffee shake and chipotle sauce is the move
Straight up lied to my face when I asked if the OJ was fresh squeezed

Open 24 bours to serve you the absolute BEST BURGER in DTLA. Soooo good we ate there 3 times in 4 days!
The breakfast burrito was great, waiting time was quite long though. Limited seating, better take out.
Try the Lumberjack Breakfast, it's fantastic. Not much seating, so go early. It's worth the trip.
Good place for breakfast at downtown L.A. Great pastry variety. Good view of downtown.
their food is so so delicious. workers are chill as heck!
