Bit of a joke, event was well run but drinks were a rip off. Ordered double rum and cokes and we were positive they were singles so second order we ordered double rums no mixer to see the size of the serving. They then bring us single rums. After telling the staff these drinks weren't doubles they take them back to the bar only to then return to inform us that he has been reassured these are doubles. The drinks were 100000% not doubles they were literally in a single shot glass . I worked in a bar for along time and regardless. Anyone who hadn't worked in a bar would see they weren't doubles. Disgusting that they were serving singles and taking money for doubles and secondly when we complain we are point blank lied too. Terrible service. Edit: owner who responded dose not not seem to understand that it does not matter what size cup was used, dosnt make sense what your suggesting. To clarify... Our first order with mixer we didn't think the drinks tasted like doubles so on the second order we decided to order double rums with no mixer so we could see the size of the spirit being served. Cups were brang out with just the spirit... Dunno what your on about single and doubles being served in the same cups, nothing to do with it.
There was a woman working in the toilets who was extremely extremely unprofessional, rude, and violent. Me and my partner had several arguments with her as well as almost every other female in the toilets as she was being so horrible to everyone. From screaming in our faces to physically hitting people, I was present for 1 of the assaults and was told about 2 other girls who she had assaulted. We were told to use the other toilets which we did until the end of the rave as they were closed and as we went into the toilet she said we could only use one so I was waiting for my partner and she tried physically manhandled me out of the toilets when I needed a pee and told her this, I went to go into the cubicle and she followed me in and again tried to physically manhandle me out whilst screaming in my face. I was told she is a relative to the owners and so has power… but this was absolutely disgraceful. I am ashamed to have been and seen others be treated like this with no repercussions from the member of staff.

Though the nights have certainly become more pricey in recent times (but where hasn't, and who can blame them!) Lakota remains an iconic venue at the heart of the vibrant Stokes Croft area of Bristol. Some of the best nights out of my life have been at Lakota, with the venue often having multiple rooms open with a wide range of music played (even on nights where one might assume it would be limited to one genre - there's often something for everyone!). The venue is great at supporting local talent and hosting nights for all sorts of music. The revamp of the outdoor area in recent times sees a spacious outdoor seating area often open where food can be purchased mid-rave - and there's a fancy water fountain to fill up your water bottle (big plus!). The queues can be long on popular nights out, but this is for good reason. Lakota is highly recommended.
Went for the Octoberfest event. Staff was lovely and so helpful. However, not everyone knew what the event was or when the band was going on. Eventually found out and the event was super fun, band was awesome. Once the event was over at 10 we got shuffled out quickly to make room for the next event. I wanted to wait just inside the doors for my husband who was in the bathroom, before going outside as he didn't know I would be outside and not at our table. I told this to the bouncers who proceeded to run off and shout for him on the loo that his wife was looking for him, then came out to tell me "yeah he is taking a piss", which I already knew I just wanted to wait inside 1 minute for him to come out because it was heckin cold... Was a very strange interaction.

Haven’t been there in 3 years, I went yesterday, treated very awkwardly by the security guys, they took a friend for being a bit “too drunk” when she was fine and having a good time. They were searching everyone like if we were in a prison, they would take random people and take them away and ask you to have “a little chat” I have never seen anything like it. Then they wanted to kick me out as well when I was sober and not doing anything. That was mad… Not sure what is wrong with them or what kind of management is this. We are all in our thirties and we were treated like children Also bar staff had terrible service. Not nice to be treated like this in a place where you’re suppose to have fun. Not coming back

A great evening, I wasn't dressed for it which made me feel like one of the dad's there. I didn't plan for an evening of Afro Beat music in a university town, a friend made the suggestion late in the day. It was very loud that you could feel it inside you, the loudest I've experienced at least :) The music was good and the venue appeared well kept. The security was ever present with good security measures in place on the door and inside. 4 star, as the bar staff seemed misuable, I felt invisible on a few occasions waiting for service. This was an obvious point of frustration. I can certainly recommend the club for the buzz and the music. Go late, it didn't really get that busy until midnight, if not a little later.
Blue lagoon cocktail pitcher tasted like a melted slush puppy, I don't believe it contained any alcohol whatsoever. Ordered one portion of tacos at 16:16 which arrived at 17:03 and ruined the last hour of my booking stressing whether I would even receive the food, have time to eat, get a refund etc. Kitchen staff did apologise but only after I had to ask where my food was (I was told it would be 5 mins but it was a further 15). Security were very good, professional and respectful. Music and atmosphere was good but I couldn't fully enjoy it for the last hour. Would have been a 4 or 5 star review if I had drank beer and not ordered food.
The most authentic rave shack in Bristol, great sound system and amazing acts, especially the DnB - buyer beware it really is *authentic* you will enjoy yourself massively but whilst obviously I can categorically state that neither myself or the staff condone illegal activity if any kind, understand that alcohol is not the primary fuel in this establishment. I personally believe this is a positive aspect but it is important to understand if you wish to enjoy yourself. Security is just the right amount of unintrusive, you can have fun without fear of being stabbed to death by roadmen, like you will be in SWX for example.
Had a great night at Tribe of Frog, but disappointed by lack of consideration for women's safety. We were aggressively forced to leave our sick friend alone in the female toilets and later in the night we were shouted at by the same person for 20 minutes for having lost a cloakroom ticket and not given back a jacket. This meant our Uber cancelled on us and we were forced to find another way home. The female toilets should be a safe space for women at the very least and women should have the right to leave the club without trouble and find themselves a safe way home.
Only 1 room open but a good garden area. Lively place with excellent sound system. A bit pricey at £15 entrance, was told £5 at the gate so this came as a shock at the ticket booth. Drinks a bit pricey and poor selection, mostly beer and spirits. The place is a bit rough interior-wise and has the feel of a youth club so could do with a bit more decorative effort hence 3 stars. Adequate for rocking up half cut and having a dance and random interactions with peeps. Nice crowd, no hassles apart from Covid rules but I was glad to be out again.
where to even begin with this place. security are the worst I've ever dealt with in my life. violent, aggressive, clearly have no idea how to deal with inebriated teenagers. useless welfare team too. if you're a girl be very careful about getting spiked, it is rife here. the venue is always so oversold it's genuinely difficult to get around any of the cramped rooms. real shame what this place this has turned into

Security staff watching over me inside the toilet cubicle, allegedly to prevent people taking drugs. Pretty sure that is not legal, in any case highly uncomfortable to have somebody looking at you why your private parts are exposed.. never seen security acting like that, and from other reviews seems like they do it regularly.. thinking of filing a lawsuit together with all other people affected. NOT ACCEPTABLE!
As a music and entertainment venue lakota provides excellent services but of my last two visits the catering and food have failed quite spectacularly. Waiting times are exceptionally long and menus have failed to update. The service they provide could be good but is not capable of function with the amount of people they let in. Don't go with the intent to eat out of even drink. Service isn't there quite yet.
I met my girlfriend here so it'll always hold a place dear in my heart. The issue is unlike other clubs if the artist playing isn't something you 100% like the downsides become incredible noticeable. The place is always heaving and the one way system makes traversing the club a nightmare. I would say Lakota is like a crack den, when your high you're really high but when sober it's almost unbearable.
Great space, lovely hard working staff, shout out to Maxine and the cloak room lady and security. Too much going on. Sound quality not good. Too busy and spent my time queuing...getting in, then cloak room, then bar, then toilet. But all managed really well....its just me, I'm getting on and I think it's time to retire from Lakota....its for the kidz....thanks for the last 15 years or so....Xxx
So pleased this venue is still a club. Great sound systems. Sensible security that look after the customers. If an event I'm interested in is at Lakota I'm straightaway encouraged to go. With the addition of The Coroners Court to Lakota it gave us 5 good rooms and outdoor area. Long may it remain a nightclub. Maybe the demolition/change of use plans have been put on hold for a long long time.
Definitely my favourite club in Bristol - bouncers are friendly as far as bouncers go, feels safe though because of fairly thorough checks at entry. Dedicated med tent is a bonus. Even though it's only the one main room this means you can always see the DJ and it always feels live there. Lakota do DnB and house and they know how to do it well. Well worth booking ahead for.
The main reason for giving it one star is that the music is dangerously (and probably illegally) loud. It is painful to be in the main room because it hurt your ears so much. I hope the authorities look into this. Also, when I went, they tried to charge us 20 quid in, but we bartered to get in for almost half that. That's not how you run a business.

for my first time in Lakota, the atmosphere and music was great! the queue was a bit long upon arrival, however it is understandable as it is a popular venue. Only thing I will say about the club itself is that they do not have fans/air conditioning, which can be quite dangerous during summer and overall made indoors quite stuffy. would definitely go again though!
Maxine in the women’s toilets is a star!! She helped us in some very unfortunate circumstances. Also the ambulance team, the security and even the owner were very quick to assist and remove the unwelcome visitor from the premises. Massive thank you to all the team and especially Maxine❤️

Really, really well-known venue here in Bristol featuring all sorts of gigs and talent. Perhaps the best live gig venue in all of Bristol. It has multiple floors, which is pretty standard and a very lively crowd. My only complaint is the rampant drug use that happens here and the the unwillingness of staff to address it
Was here for SECTION 18 THE REBEL ALLIANCE and we was off our noggins… had video camera with me all night… they all thought I was doing promotion video so people was extra hype!!! Mental absolutely mental night…That line up was dangerous for your eardrums…the morning after though ooohhhh the horror …
Great ravers club. Amazing soundsystem and none of the rubbish you get from chain clubs and venues with the same generic experience you get up and down the country. One of the best in the country and they always get in top local, national and international talent.

Bouncers denied me reentry after taking a wrong turn. Despite having a valid ticket and a legitimate reason for leaving, the bouncers were extremely rude in leaving me outside. Unless you know someone inside, just leave and let someone performing let you in.

Went for gin & juice event on Saturday. It was advertised with food vendors, which weren't there, so that was disappointing. The speakers Outdoors were terrible so we couldn't hear the music unless you were at the front near the stage. Disappointing.

Although this place is a crowd puller, the ambience is truly a depressive one with black painted walls that suck in the light and a part of your soul as you step in. The dance floors seemed too small in comparison to other clubs while the music could have been far better than what I had been expecting.
Hi. I wish I could leave a better feedback as I like the place. I have been contacting you since early August about the refund for the tickets - nobody has responded to my emails or phone calls. The refund has been pending all this time. Can someone please contact me about it and finalise it. Thanks
As others have pointed out, the guards are like gestapo, they took what they could from us for themselves. We won't be going again, maybe things will change but who knows? It used to be such a good place, glad I visited it when it was great.

My refund has been refused by Eventbrite. Please choose a more reputable company to sell your tickets. Emailed them twice prior to the 7 day refund notice. Not going to accept this. Small claims rather than just let it go. I have the email that states over 7 days. Very poor service all round.
I've been going for years, I've had good night's and bad ones but the venue is decent. During my recent visit the door staff were sound, bar staff friendly and the toilets clean. Pretty good for a Bristol night club . Only down point is the main bar, it's just a bit dated and grim now …

Really disappointed the event was clearly over capacity, promoters shouldn't have continued to sell tickets. We were stuck in the smoking area as they wasn’t letting anyone in anymore and was nearly crushed in there. Didn't see Hedex which is what you had paid for.
2 hours to get in. Another 30 spent waiting per overpriced drink, in what feels like a stinky sweaty humid tropical rainforest. I feel sorry for the staff. Complete waste of time and money.

Horrific overly-aggressive and unjust behaviour from club staff. For simply complying to their rules in the girls' loos by separating from my friend, merely pointing out that it's unsafe to wait on our own outside and they should re-think
Awesome act (Invisible Circus) at a disappointingly disorganised venue. Our drinks took 30 mins to come, and after asking the third time, a staff member apologised and said that the drinks bench was a mess, with new drinks put in front of
it is a very nice club with friendly security and lots of rooms but... THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CASH AT THE BAR. im fed up of this elitist movement towards cashless society causing segregation of people who do not use bank accounts.
Bouncers pocketed £50 for themselves lying to people who had valid tickets to get extra money. Then when the owner was called they lied saying the owner didn’t want to talk to us even though he did which is when we were let in.
Went to the Ibiza Day Event at Lakota and the staff were very unwelcoming and rude. I felt very uncomfortable and disrespected from the start.

Very overpriced drinks. The event i went to was badly organised and the bar staff were evidently not trained to serve so many people. This was not their fault obviously, but the club owners for pytting them on that night
Visually this place is incredible and we went on an event night which was so exciting! The floor isn't done up at all so it is like jumping on concrete. Bathroom's were clean. Bar was far away. Rigorous drug checks!
Amazing night out, with multiple rooms playing different genres of music, would highly recommend, plus tribe of frog is probably the best time to go, as it has a really friendly crowd, and trippy artwork and lasers

Terrible experience, oversold, cant even move, toilets outside (portaloos) the bar way too busy, very aggressive and violent bouncers. Will never go back no matter how good the event is.
Best rave / club venue in the country, bar none! The location, atmosphere and layout all combine to knock you for six, brilliant club and a must see for any raver worth their salt.
Great variety of events, lots of history in Bristol. Decent security and water filling station outside. Courtyard area massive and coroner's court next door is sometimes used too
Security are disgusting. Asked me to leave and while doing QUIETLY, they decided to pick me up and throw me in the street. Leaving me covered with bruises and a scabbed face.
One of the best clubs in Bristol. It is smaller than expected but it is good depending on the DJ. The drinks are expensive.

Excellent venue, well managed around COVID, reasonable beer prices. Music could have been a little louder though.
Felt nice to be back in the clubs, but there are changes implemented that haven't been thought thoroughly.
Got tix from an ill friend. Never been. Definitely will go again; loved the variety and the energy there!
Always a good time at Lakota, great atmosphere and vibes, it’s a must visit for new people to Bristol
Good club with multiple rooms. Especially like the tribe of frog nights held every couple of months.
Go if you want to be hurt or assaulted. The place should have been knocked down for flats in 2020
Iconic club in Bristol. Busy night last night for Rumble in the Jungle's 8th birthday party
not good vibes all round - if you want a good night to to brass pig round the corner
