UPDATED JAN 16/20: Changing my rating to 5 Stars. We order the burritos and chips & salsa. First thing we immediately noticed is how large the burritos are. When I picked up I was like, "wow...this is heavy" and it was. Definitely filling. I had a pibil chicken and my guess had a pork one. She's a huge burrito fan and said she found her new spot even though she thought it was a bit salty. I think that might just be a pork thing. She also mentioned that she loved the flour wrap and I must agree. They also have these 3 sauces. The mango one is XXX spicy and totally amazing --- Initial Review I'd say this place is pretty authentic from the food to the people. A lot of Spanish could be heard. It's quite small however and not at all cozy would be my only complaint. The door needs to be fixed so that it shuts closed especially this time of year (Jan 2020). It would let the cold air in. One the employees would shut then someone came in and then my guest closed it then someone else would come in so it was pretty chilly in there. The food however was great & the employee was very friendly. It seemed like he took the time to really know his customers. Many people seemed like regulars for the half hour that we were there. The six tacos we order came to just over $20. We both could have ate more though however we were just too tired. The guacamole was excellent & the mango hot sauce was something I've never had before. That too was great. Will definitely check it out again to try other options on the menu.
As a native Mexican, I have high expectations when it comes to Mexican cuisine. Time and time again, I get disappointed with Mexican restaurants. The food was just okay. The rice is too soft, and the tortillas get warmed up in a microwave. I don't like to use microwaves to heat my food because it's not good for me. Yet, EVERY single Mexican restaurant that I have been to does the same thing! I don't even have one in my kitchen. The best way to heat up corn tortillas is on a non-stick pan. A comal would be best, but then, we are in Canada. The guacamole tasted awful! The chicken mole was okay, nothing that I would order again. Overall, the food was not great. The service was fine. The gentleman who served me was super polite and answered all of my questions. Apparently, everything is made from scratch, including the beans, mole sauce, salsa, and guacamole. The corn tortillas are purchased elsewhere. So I was told and I was told also that the tortillas indeed get thrown in the microwave. That's a BIG NO for me. That's a deal breaker. I won't be coming back to this place to eat. But who knows! You might like it! Paid parking only, free parking about two to three blocks in residential areas. washrooms are clean. Music is not too loud, which is appreciated.

So I am confused by the rating for this restaurant. As of my review it has 4.5 stars. I can't begin to describe how inaccurate this is. This tiny place is boxing out of its weight class. As soon as I walked through the door I knew I was in the right place. The small cozy seating area made me feel content immediately. Then there was the smiling helpful gentleman that served me. Couldn't have been better. Then of course there was the Mexican Coca-Cola which is definitively better than Canadian Coke. Sorry Canada. The food took what seemed like forever. In reality is was at most 3 minutes but the wonderful smells while I waited was torture. To the food. I have not had a sandwich this flavourful in memorable history. It is entirely too large not to share but I managed the whole thing. Worth every bite. My only complaint is that there was so much stuffed into this sandwich that some refused to stay in it. Eat here. Do it right now.

It honestly breaks my heart to do this, but I've given them ample opportunity to correct course, and the current trend seems to be permanent. Las Tortas used to be one of the best Mexican places in the city. But over the past few months, they've started cutting portion sizes, and have been sloppy & inattentive about orders. The food is still good enough - when you actually get what you ordered, which has only happened once in my past four visits. Oh yeah, and the last time I was there, there were so many flies around that one actually managed to get itself sealed inside the takeout container. Seriously, come on guys. I've been a very loyal customer here for the past two years, but I have no intention of returning until things shape up.

Ordered for pickup via Uber. Waited 30 minutes past the delivery time with the app saying that it was still being prepared. Finally walked in to ask, and was greeted by an unfriendly cashier. When I explained the situation, they tried to blame me for not seeing the notifications. I had to try to explain that they have to mark the order as done for me know. They mumbled under their breadth and that was it Maybe something was going on that day, but it’s been the poorest uber eats experience by far, and I use the service more than I probably should. To top it all off, the food is cold and our order was incomplete. They were missing items we had placed into the orders (that we were charged for). Update: I emailed the owner as they requested to explain the situation, but they never bothered responding.
Ok, this place seems legit to a white guy who's visited Mexico a few times and lived in California for a few years. I got the puerco loco torta and it was delicious and filling. Definitely has a hole in the wall feel, which is what I want for a torta place, and the flavor seems pretty authentic. Sadly, while cheap for Vancouver, they are still Vancouver prices (my torta was just under $20 with tax and tip), but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Saw a couple guys eating what looked like taco meals and they looked delicious as well. There was fresh limeade, but I didn't have any on this visit. Would definitely come back again.

Wow! Excellent torta!! I loved it. I had the "Fish Torta" it was a huge sandwich. A little spicy because of the jalapeños but that theory it should be as its Mexican! Very authentic. Delicious. We will be back again soon. This place also sells various salsas, horchata, jaritos, pops and hot sauces too!

Lots of vegetarian and pescatarian options in tacos, tortas, quesadillas and burritos too!
So after traveling to Mexico multiple times from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Sea to the biggest Spanish speaking city in the world (CDMX) I had never had a torta or for those who may need translation: Mexican sandwich. I am sad to say I waited too long there is only one word to describe this wonder culinary creation DELISIOSO. I enjoyed a Carne Asada Torta on my visit now I'm looking forward to trying the Pollo or Cerdo for my next visit that I'm hoping will push me to give Las Tortas Mexican Gourmet Sanwiches a five star rating.
Visiting most eateries in Vancouver is challenging these days as you know you are paying premium prices due to sky-high rents and taxes imposed on owners. So, I quite enjoyed the "chicken club" sandwich I ordered. The bun and inside fixings were very tasty and the service was nice. Still, for $13.50 I would have wished for at least a small included side dish - either a few chips or a bit of salad. That's the kind of serving I would expect while eating out in Van for decades now, but sadly you don't always get it anymore.
Wow AMAZZZZZZING, This place is the king of all Mexican food restaurants. The food is absolutely phenomenal can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I had a fish torta and I was just melting while I was eating, AMAZING sandwich. The service was excellent and the actual location is accessible and Very clean and cozy. The bathroom is also clean I love LOVE LOVE the Mexican vibes, the decor just sets the mood for the food. I wish I can give 10 Stars
Ordered through Ubereats, they have a BOGO deal so we decided to try Chile Relleno, Mexican Paella and Chicken Fajita. All 3 were pretty good. The rellenos were the best, portions were good as well. The paella, I expected more but still pretty tasty. The fajitas were a tad dry, I think they also forgot to include salsa roja bec 2 orders came with one little container of salsa verde for a total of 8 fajitas. Overall, it was a good meal! I would order from them again and try the tortas! Gracias!
I give this place 3 stars. The food here used to be good. Before, I would order the tamale meal or wet burrito, but these items have gone downhill. Overpriced meals with low quantity of food. I would suggest the tacos. My favorites are the birria tacos or the lengua tacos. Aside from the food, the restraunt feels cramped with limited seating.

Las Tortas is one of my favorite hole in the wall, comfort food places in Vancouver! The food is as authentic as you can possibly get in Vancouver. I have been coming to Las Tortas for years and love it so much I started using them for our catered lunches at work. Needless to say, they have become one of our preferred vendors. Moises, the owner is extremely accommodating and the food is never disappointing! Mmmmm, just writing this review is making me very hungry!
The first thing I noticed was the picture of their tortas on the door, it looked amazing. However what I received was a colourless version from what they advertised. The bun had a good crunch and the sauce was spicy but there was very little meat and the lamb had no flavour. It might as well have been a vegetarian sandwich. In hindsight considering how much they charge it was a let down and would prefer to go else where for a flavourful and filling meal.
The meal to go option is good value. I got the asada option as we are meat eaters.. Beans were seasoned well, lots of tortillas provided...the salsas were the real flavour bombs. I got four salsas... They were fresh. I really enjoyed the salsa verde and the guac. Nice big stack of tortillas... Enough that I made breakfast tacos the next morning with leftovers tortillas. The meal came with tortilla soup and deep fried cinnamon sugar tortilla chips (yum!).
Unbelievably delicious! Staff was lovely too. Update two years later: I still order from the frequently and still, just unbelievably delicious! I have upgraded to order the family meal which is a great value take out meal for a group. Every part of it is delicious. And of course, the tortas are still amazing... Love this place.

My favorite Mexican in Vancouver! The food is always so fresh, the owner is extremely friendly and sometimes even let you try some of their special snacks! Just overall the best experience! The restaurant is small but it's got good vibe with vintage Mexican decor, classic mexico music, clean kitchen and washroom. Burrito is the best in town, an option to make it a bowl as well. Family owned it's a plus! Love it!
Super delicious! My friend and I both had the al pastor torta, with tortilla chips fresh and hot from the fryer, and a side of salsa. I'm already craving this food again. Honestly the torta would have been enough without the chips, the sandwiches are huge and very filling. Packed full of meat, crunchy cabbage and spicy pickled jalapenos, a serious treat for your mouth. The horchata was also super yummy.
Probably my favourite restaurant in Cambie area and my favourite Mexican restaurant in the city. I typically get a torta and tacos and every time they are unreal. Pollo Pibil is my go to torta and the fish tacos are the best tacos in my opinion. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!

Las Tortas is really quite good. Authentic and flavourful. The price is more than you would typically imagine a sandwich to cost, but the quality and uniqueness of the experience won't have you walking away thinking you've overpaid. Although Vancouver does have a pretty decent number of places to get authentic Mexican food, Las Tortas is unique, and definitely worth a try.
A little disappointed at the lack of flavour in the Pibil Chicken and Pulled Pork tacos. Not necessarily bad but there are better tacos out there especially given the price. The restaurant itself was small and it was uncomfortably hot inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful though!

Big Torta Sandwiches. Very tasty. The Tacos and Meal Specials are very authentic. Adventurous Menu. This is not Tex Mex. Mexican Owner, Mexican Food, Mexican Music and yes they all speak Spanish. More Salsa types would be nice. Excellent homemade Horchata. The Churros are some of the best in the city. This place is now expensive. I've had to buy Tortas elsewhere.
Muy auténtico, this place is amazing, the tortas are extremely good. Lots of meat and toppings, and mexican beverages, Jamaica, horchata, jarrito sodas. Some delicious salsas and ingredients for mexican dishes (mole sauce for example). Can't reccomend this place enough, buen provecho.

Best Mexican food I've had so far. I had the chicken burrito from here. The flavours were so well balanced. Gourmet is definitely the word I would use to describe it. Immense flavour without the over use of salt like many places puts this place on top of my list. I will definitely be driving 35 minutes out of my way to come here again.
I ordered the BOGO Chicken Fajita Tacos and Jamaica on Uber Eats for lunch today. The red salsa and spicy guacamole were missing from the bag, only received the green salsa as a side. The tacos were good however a little bland, with the guacamole and red salsa they would've been a lot better! The Jamaica had a light but good taste.
Great place, food is amazing, tasty, delicious and the right amount of flavor. Definitely will come back; their Consomé and Choco Flan are incredible and to be honest it’s hard to find good Consomé here in Van. Customer service is incredible, they are very friendly and go above and beyond for their customers! Muchas gracias!:)
Amazing food and kind service. Half of our torta was accidentally dropped by our server (it happens) and they rushed another full one out to us. In the meantime they gave us an extra taco to keep us busy! We ended up with an extra half sandwich and a delicious taco for free. The food is delicious and will regularly go back.
I crave this place ALL THE TIME (and give into those cravings whenever I'm nearby ). Their torts are delish, their churros are top notch. Omg I want to get las tortas now, why did I decide to review them today? Well, I guess it's Tortas for lunch today!

I’ve been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant since I came to BC. A friend and I went to Las Tortas this week and I can confidently say I finally found it. We got tacos, a torta, & a tres leches cake — all were absolutely phenomenal!!! Highly recommend to anyone wanting authentic Mexican food!!
Loved it, the only downside is that the place is really small and it's usually full, but everything that I've tasted so far from the menu is really good. The staff are super nice as well, I am only giving 4 stars because sometimes is full and I sometimes end up in another place due of the lack of tables.
Amazing food and very quick and friendly service! I had a pilias chicken burrito and it was huge and full of flavour. Also love the music and decoration!

Las Tortas is my favourite sandwich shop in the world. The Mexican Club is a beautiful, decadent pile of meat that manages to stay fresh due to nice cabbage and pickled toppings. It is my go-to. The menu has numerous options. Quite enjoy the fish. Fantastic, friendly service. A local staple.
Ordered the cubana on ubereats for $17. I thought maybe there would be sides or something to justify the price, but it was just the sandwich. If it was really tasty maybe it would be worth the price, but the sandwich itself was underwhelming. The meat was tough and flavours disappointing.
Burritos are big and spicy! Not the cheapest menu but the quality is worth the extra dollars. Not really a big place for dining in so take out is preferred.

Love leaving in Cambie village and is with out doubt that this place is one of the best Authentic Mexican Tortas in the neighbourhood, amazing food, my favourites the Schnitzel Sandwich with extra spicy with the house chips. Always with small the owner is there always, must try...
Place is not that big but it's good for small party. Averaging $10-12 per tortas. They have burritos and tacos as well but didn't try it yet. They have different meat and veggies options. The bread was toasted a bit before serving so it tastes really good. Must try!
As my son told the person who served us there, this is now his new favorite Mexican restaurant We ordered the La Campechana torta, pulled pork burrito, chorizo burrito and their tacos, everything was so tasty and yummy! Will definitely be back to try other dishes!
This place is a hidden gem on South Cambie. Small space, friendly staff, well priced and delicious food. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. Had a burrito that was massive but enjoyed every bite. Will be going back for sure to try their tortas. Strongly recommend.
Authentic and amazing. The wet burrito was mucho delicioso. The grilled chicken burrito was stuffed full, but still easy to handle. The chicken was well cooked and very tasty. The employee was funny and personable. A great option for real Mexican food!
Delicious sandwiches. They're big as they can make them. They don't skimp on ingredients in this place. Good mix of veggies, meat and cheese. Bread is fresh. Just great all around. Highly recommend. They also have authentic Mexican candies inside too.

Love this place. The food is excellent quality, and the staff are friendly. My only complaint is the seating as there is not nearly enough of it so I always get takeout. I also wish they served whole beans instead of the pureed refried stuff.
I grabbed a pollo loco sandwich. This thing was huge. Like two sandwiches. And the roasted, spicy peppers and crunchy, sweet cabbage, juicy as heck chicken, and many other delicious toppings made my night!! Haha. Definitely dropping by again.
The food won’t be the best Mexican food you have in Vancouver, but I appreciated the atmosphere of the place and the service. We ordered the birria and al pastor tortas. The taste is not as faithful to real Mexican tortas, but they’re not
This little Mexican sandwich store is just great. Their sandwiches just melt in your mouth. I am a big fan of mexican food in general so I may be a bit biased but I haven't had many mexican dishes that could match the taste of their stuff.
Awesome little hidden gem. All the food was amazing. We had tacos, burritos and tostadas and chips and salsa. Everything was great. Only thing that was a bit of a let down was the guacamole.

This place is incredible! It is very authentic with amazing and unique flavors I haven't had in Vancouver before. The Tortas are massive and filling out the tacos are also awesome. It's so hard to chose what to fill your belly with.
I finally got a chance to check this joint out. The tortas were okay I've had better . If you want good torta sandwiches try Duffins donut way cheaper and the taste is way better no joke. Nice little restaurant with Latin decor.

Someone call immigration because those tortas have totally crossed the border from Mexico the most legit tortas I’ve had in Vancouver, they totally taste like Mexico. (The eggplant milanesa is a great vegetarian option)
Five stars, I've been here a bunch and never had anything to complain about. The employees behind the counter are always off-the-charts nice. Not to mention, their birria tacos are easily the best in Van. Highly recommend!
This is a great hole in the wall with great Tortas. A little spicey and very tasty. We were also pleased to see they serve Pesole soup which we have always wanted to try. this is not close to fine dining but it has heart.

A small place for simple but tasty food. This may be the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Vancouver, as most of the other Mexican places ruin their food by making it too bland. Kale tacos anyone?
Delicious sandwiches. Not a lot of seating so be prepared if you go during peak lunch. If you need to sit the pizza next door is good too, so give it a shot and worst case you get pizza instead.
I don't come here as often as I should, but every time I do I get great service and consistently great sandwiches! Highly recommended. I love chorizo and the chorizo sandwiches are very good.
Great little hole in the wall mexican spots. I've been in for their beef and chicken tacos a few times now and always walk out full and with a smile on my face. Couldn't recommend it more :)
Enjoyed the pollo pibil tortas, nice flavors and family run business. Not really a sit in place as only a few casual seats for convenience but great for takeout or eating with 1 or 2 others
Had the Chorizo Oaxaca torta. It was alright, there wasn't enough meat and the flavors were rather plain. I'd prefer if there were toppings unique to each of the individual meats offered.
Small little authentic Mexican restaurant. They also have a miniature grocery section of imported Mexican goods. Service was fast, food was delicious. I would recommend the fish taco.
Great mexican reataurant!! We got the family dinner take out for 2 and it was fantastic, meats were really tasty and it was fun to make your tacos at home! Definitely recommend it!!!

Family pack taco dinner is great value compared to other authentic restaurants in the area. Burritos are THICK! It’s a tiny space so they’re only doing take out these days.
Loved the torta de milanesa at Las Tortas Mexican Gourmet Sandwiches. My whole family can for dinner the other night and we all loved it. They also have the best horchata!
Got six Tacos they were deathly dry, the limes had a drop of juice left in them. Three staff were not friendly and it seemed like we were bothering them by being a patron.
Authentic, delicious tacos. Had lunch there, the staff was incredibly friendly. Very clean washrooms too! Fresh lemonade for a few bucks. Would go again to try the Tortas!

Great family run Mexican restaurant. Good mix of tacos, burritos and of course tortas. Food is very fresh and service is friendly. This is a restaurant worth supporting!
Great Mexican sandwiches to be had here. Ingredients are fresh, and the staff here are really friendly. It's a cozy little restaurant serving up food with big flavour.
Great tasting huge sandwiches and Mexican foods here. The tortas (sandwiches) are so large they are easily shared by 2 people. Staff are friendly and Covid conscious..
Great food. Eaten here a dozen times and it's never a miss. Horchatas and lemonade are amazing too. It's a little squished for space - otherwise it's fantastic.
An easy five stars! This place is amazing. We have tried a few items on the menu and so far they are all really well prepared! Also, the horchata is on point!
My manager told me about this place. I have been a number of times. I get a consistent sandwich here, with no hassle. I like their hot sauce too. Recommended
Great tortas, meat or vegetarian. Can't wait to go back and try their other dishes. Great ambiance in a small place. They have yummy drinks and sweets, too!
Good food, and good quality. If you order the four-taco deal they do not allow to order 4 different fillings, but a maximum of 2. That is quite annoying.
Excellent food, authentic and fresh. Friendly staff, great service it was worth driving across the city to eat here. And the lemonade was excellent too!
