I will be happier with this library if it were open for longer hours each week night and on weekends. A few hours on Sunday too. I could either choose to be at work or read in the library with the current opening hours. Will be lovely to spend an hour or two reading after I finish.
Always helpful. Large library with a small museum, worth having a look at. Also has a very large genealogy section with lots of help available. Has good air-conditioning and seats too. Has lots of computers and a couple of large areas where you can study or use your own computer.
Our libraries are simply the most amazing resource imaginable. Even though I have used the facilities rarely, probably because I have too much money, I am always amazed at what one can achieve with the occasional help from absolutely terrific staff. Thank you to you all.
Over 3 floors u can find/do it all. Lobby has all the papers & museum. On 2 lending has books,DVDs,c.D's & comp' internet access. On 3 is more computer access & the study text book area. Staff helpful. They regularly hold workshops in all manner of subjects.
Supposedly accounts expire after 2 years. Staff were very helpful, kind and friendly (towards the end of a wet day during school holidays). New card/ account holder. And only empty hands as specific needs. Will place them on hold and return. With a smile
Probably the most disappointing state library out of the lot (and that includes the NT's). It's a pitty because there really are a lot of beautiful historic buildings Hobart could have used for a library befitting that of the title 'State Library'.
Along with being an all round great library, their customer service is next level. After I lost my teddy bear Tom, who is brown with two arms and two legs, so if anyone sees him please hmu. Julian, who picked up, was a ruddy good bloke and
Really impressed! A fantastic facility in the center of the city. I would love for it to be open on Sundays. I grew up going to the library on Sunday mornings. I understand that there may not be enough funding available to allow for this.
No matter background, age or interests, the Library has something for everyone. The Allport is a precious gem and having the Archives on site just puts the icing on the cake. The Library is an essential part of Hobart's identity.
I really love volunteering here on a Thursday working in the children's section shelving the picture books. I really like how everything is set out now and the staff that work here are pleasant and grateful for my help.
Not very swell. Not enough photocopying facilities. Also, no resources for learning Icelandic apart from a small pocket dictionary in the Reading Room. One last thing to add... Its not green enough
Lots of children's sections were rearranged. The kids were a bit confused but soon found their way. Very helpful staff as always. We are so happy to be back in the Hobart State library ❤️.
The LINC Library in Hobart is a very special place. It has a sort of secret museum that hardly anyone notices called Tha Allport that, is brilliant. Shhh, don't tell anyone, oh wait.
Interesting selection of books at the main Hobart branch, even more available online. Staff always helpful. Fascinating tour of areas behind the public areas on Open Houses weekend.
The library is a great place for whole family it has a lot off things to do you just need to go check it out a see what would be great for you and your family the staff are great
A small library but easy to find everything and lots of study spaces. A friendly atmosphere and familiar place to read and meet people. Staff are helpful and remember you.
The State is a great resource in a handy city location with very good reference section and decent collection of papers, books, magazines, audio books, CD's and DVDs.
Super helpful and warm staff. Thank you beautiful people. Easy access building, straight forward and welcoming. The computers work great and clean facilities too.
Update: Door lady can't be more rude. Walked out 7:02 and the lady with patronising tone said that I should be out by 6. This is on a Friday when it closes at 7.
Thanks to the friendly, helpful staffLovely library ~ don't miss the Allport museum at ground level for the colonial artworks & many treasures …
Great range of resources. Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant surroundings. New displays and activities organised for the school holidaysv
A nice place to visit on rainy day. Staff were friendly. Lots of stuff for kids but please keep all the gender bending nonsense out.
Friendly staff. Went to see Allport Collection of art, furniture and items. What a high quality and interesting collection.
A bloom of pencils, places to sit and contemplate, new finds and comfortable old books. I love my Library.
I am travelling around Tasmania & needed access to a computer & printer while on holiday in Hobart.
Found it a nice and quiet place to work whilst some renovation works were being done on my home.
The Library is always good although it does look like fewer shelves in the children's section.
Love it here. Always happy to help and they helped me with finding family history yesterday
Professional staff who know their stuff- and they are excellent in working with people
