My review is based on the phone services and calling the number posted. I also understand to the people that commented regarding how many numerous amount of people are out there requesting the services provided here. But as an owner of my own business I can only imagine that the government or owner of this business, seeing the high demand of services should then hire an equal amount of necessary people to man the phones and respond to inquiries etc. It’s just baffling that we have people who aren’t in government doing a better job providing services they could’ve otherwise be equally compared to this and our government should do a better job and becoming like Amazon in the sense of service and support and even better because Amazon has its own issues too. But at least you get a chance to speak to somebody who is a human being. They have the worst phone call service. It almost seems very useful because you can do things with their automated system, however just returning to the main menu cuts call and the line off saying that they can’t connect you or something. And then trying to contact an actual human being to speak to someone is also unavailable to do. Claiming that they have a high call volume and therefore call back at a later time. It is early in the morning and I feel that a later time would only be the opposite of having people available. Regardless of the matter the service seems very confusing. I applied for some benefits online and I did seem to receive a call from DPSS but on my phone I have it blocking spam calls automatically or silencing them. And it seems they did that to their number and that is why I called back but had no luck getting in contact with anyone. They also didn’t leave any messages…

Showed up right when it turned 5:01 just to pick up my daughter's P-Ebt which we really need because our cash Aide made a mistake where we now have to wait a whole month before getting ANYTHING which means we won't have anything to get us by for the whole month. A lady with gray hair shoulder length wouldn't bother to help me. I explained that we're homeless. I explained that I have no cash aid and I explained that I rushed out of the hospital from having a preterm labor scare at 7 months pregnant and really needed the card to feed my babies and myself. She still did not care. She had the coldest look in her eyes ever and kept closing the door on my body and asking security to call the Sheriff's on me. I begged her to help me and all she did was say she'd have someone come speak to me. Instead she came back out with a paper list full of food banks, which, if anyone knows they aren't open on weekends. It's now 5:16 and I'm sitting on the steps feeling so hopeless. 5:01 and I ran from the bus to get here right when it hit :01. To the man who came out while I was begging her and returned to give me 10 dollars, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. I am so embarrassed for begging her to help me, but we needed that. I just needed to get my mail and that's the only thing I know is here. I THANK YOU. Whoever you are blessings to you.

Assigned eligibility workers are damned stereotypes, racists, unethical, rude and unprofessional ! I got there same time with that Hispanic lady and her kids without appointments, same issue..! She got called right away while I had to stay another 2hrs and at the end they finally called me by 5pm then during my conversation with my eligibility worker she mentioned this to me..." There was this Hispanic guy who GOT HERE LATER THAN You did,..", with this simple commentary already showed racism.., why is that..? Is that because I'm Asian, Black, or White? Why do I have to face that treatment..?! Not only this, but last year they screwed up with my paperwork I processed on time and it was not taken cared of in an adequately since the person Incharged of it, misplaced my documents and I got it finally straighted after 3 months of going back and forth, wasting time to be called and waiting for my Food Stamp benefits instead of one month..! So, I would not really recommend this branch..! They suck..! Sorry, but that's the truth..! This branch will only work with you if you are basically a Latino and the rest is you have to take it a risk yourself..!

Went to this office to try to extend my emergency medical. Met with a worker who got my proof of income and said all was good for her to submit and I would hear from them. Well they declined so I now have to get coverage through covered california. Fine. Only it has been 3 weeks and my status is still showing as "eligible" for my medical application. I have called 5 times and spoken to 2 supervisors, both who tell me in there systems it says discontinued. I am currently unwell and unable to seek medical help because I have no insurance. I should have zero gaps in my insurance. I got a letter on the 28th of July saying my medical coverage would end on the 31st of July. I still have not been able to sign up for another plan. It seems the office is totally disorganized and has no idea what is going on.

I wasn’t allowed in the building because I had an personal scooter. I’m coming from the city of Bellflower, using a combination of public transportation and a scooter because I don’t own a car. I was denied service because of my scooter. Transportation is a huge barrier for many people, not just myself and to be denied entry for not wanting to leave my scooter outside is ridicules. The security guards hired here should be more understanding, and instead gave me the choice to leave my scooter outside the building (risk getting it stolen) or receive the services I came to seek for. One of the lady’s outside with the tent was mocking me saying she wants to see my scooter get stolen, honestly terrible customer service from the security guard and the lady outside with her tent.

My first visit inside a few moments ago was awesome, fantastic customer service from outstanding women at windows 6 and 2. Around 9:25am. Very few people this thursday. Got my EBT card fast and proof of eligibility for MediCal. I left the building got to my car and realized my name was wrong by one letter. Went right back great service from security and hostess/front desk. Was assigned window 8 and the efficiency was not the best, left me wondering how many notes or changes this woman did just to change 1 letter of my name and admirably hand me a copy of eligibilty with my corrected name. I apologize if I'm too inpatient. God Bless Us

They will make you sit there line zombies for hours and it don't matter what you there for. It took me exactly 5hrs to just have them to cancel a case meaning to ask for calworks denial!!5 hrs!!! After 4hrs of sitting there,I asked to speak to a supervisor and even that didn't help and took me another hr. 5hrs!? They should ask people what are there for or what can we help you today to be more specific just making people sit, just like Dmv. After 4hrs waiting, someone walked up to me to get my information and the reasong being there!!!! Really?after 4hrs of waiting you asking for a reason being there?

The “supervisor” had to come supposedly and speak to me but she just kept accusing me of misusing my assistance money even with the proof I provided. She continued gaslighting me that it eventually just frustrated me and made me break down in tears as I’m not in the best living position at the moment, which is why I am seeking assistance. She wore like a hijab and glasses. Very mean lady. I’m scared to go back now because of her. Besides her, everyone else who has helped me has been very kind and empathetic. Thank you to them, not to the mean supervisor lady.

Mrs. Olivia Hernández from housing is very professional like very few others. She helps me in everything. She also provided me with the people's information I need it in order to take care of my case, She even contact ed them to call me !, because I told her I was treated badly when I went to that office. She is the only one who has behaved impressively well. She is very responsible and knows how to do her job. Thank you Mrs. Olivia Hernandez, you made a big difference !. God bless you for that. There are few people like you.

nothing but problems I had since I transfered my case to this office. First of all, they do anything possible to create problems, to turn off the cal Fresh. I just began getting emergency pandemic cal fresh now that the pandemic is over. It will turn off in a month or two. During the pandemic they actually turned off my cal Fresh. Alone with two kids, while many grown men living next to me were getting hundreds of dollars per month during the pandemic. This office needs to be examined by the federal governement or something.

Horrible people work here! I explained that I was homeless but was using my mother’s mailing address. The case worker Asusena Reyes started arguing with me, Telling me I’m doing fraud when I’m not. I sleep in a car and use my mother’s address!!! I don’t live with her, So Asusena Reyes was giving me major attitude and ended up hanging up on me. Causing me to lose my benefits!! She needs to be fired with how badly she handled this situation, I never felt so disrespected in my life!!

  • Jaime Castellanos

I can't believe this office could only help you out from the crack of the front door it is so difficult to hear and understand those workers what there saying from such a tight little crack on the door I understand that they're consern about the public's Covid situation maybe they don't want to get sick themselves but there other ways to help out the public not shut them down and talk to them threw a lock door is really hard for people to hear them smh

  • Ghost OfLA

Worst service by ANY worker in there they dont send you paperwork that is supposed to go to your mailing adress and they dont provide full information for what you need in phone call lack professionalism security wont let you in for the smallest things like a skateboard or a deodorant. I have not had a good service at all in all the times ive been there simply terrible should close down

  • Shawndrea G.

I wish that I could give this office 0 stars. If you are black go to another office fast!! The Supervisor is horrible. She wears a Hijab. She has zero patience, very rude, arrogant & has no understanding for your situation. I went in for homeless assistance & she claimed I was doing EBT Fraud. I have been to office on numerous occasions. No help, no support. #FIRETHESUPERVISOR

  • veronica Adorno

I went there when I was homeless with my family. They help the most they can. Alot of people who visit dpss dont realize that's theres over 4 million people living in LA. So the caseload they have is overbearing. They help much faster then where I came from in my. Ny takes 45 days fo approves your case. Here in emergency its immediate help.

  • Charlie Lozoya

Terrible office my worker maria Jauregui is such a pain to get a hold of she never answers her calls i have a call log with her of about 300 calls and shes only answered ONCE . I basically have to get other dpss employees to get a hold of her for me because that's how terrible she is with answerin .

  • Reed Stralka

They aren't going to approve me because I won't apply for unemployment in another state. Sorry I can't get cash assistance even though they give every other low life on the street sitting there asking for change the money all day.. there useless on the phone too it's like like talking to brick wall

  • Alice Calderon

Friendly service they help me real quick with my homeless voucher. I was a little hesitant to come here and get help with some of the bad reviews. There is sometimes a long line so expect to stand for an hour. If you're lucky you could be seated. No A.C so it does feel stuffy.

  • Wendy Witzgall

Ok. Like always crowded. But they fixed it where they only allow a certain amount of people in building at a time due to covid. If your disabled, go straight up to door and let them know so you get in right away and you don't have to stay in line.

  • Juan Moreno

This office might not look as much from the outside, but the service is great and fast. Of course once in awhile you'll get some people acting up. They also have security inside the facility. No parking , except in the street.

  • Radine Gonzalez

Where to start they can be helpful and quick but they can also be extremely difficult and stress someone out and mess everything up several times before you get someone who knows their job and can fix their mess up

  • Robert Navarro

Not bad, there's AC, comfortable seats, and the workers are there to do a job that's not dependent on great customer service. The one consistent problem with this place is the lack of a parking lot or structure

  • Ricardo Rodriguez

A mí sí me han atendido muy bien he ido pocas veces y les estoy muy agradecido.Mi caso lo tenía Este LA y desde la primer vez me cambiaron aquí y son muy amables conmigo Dios los bendiga siempre …

This place is horrible. The lady that guides you to where you have to go always has an attitude. She yells at everyone. Like if she's upset she had to work there.

  • Trolly Giron

I can never get a holder of a worker when I have question about my case . They do have friendly services though but it takes a while when you call for info.
