I am a professional renovator. I have run my own business for 8 years. Since moving to calgary alberta I switched from home depot as my lumber source, to lowes signal hill. I came in today to collect some pressure treated 2x4x8's to finish the end of a fence project. A project that cost me $15,000, purchased entirely from this store. When I found the moldy product inside the store, i requested to see what they had left in the lumber yard outside. I was told that I needed a lumber rep to accompany me in the yard. They kindly called one. An Edward arrived two minutes later. I asked him if I could get his assistance to look at the lumber yard. He rudely, curtly and condescendingly told me there is no wood in the yard. As you can see from my photo, this is not accurate. I asked him to clarify, and he told me , everything is inside. I explained the wood inside is moldy, being one of the only shelves with any product on it in the lumber section I would assume he would be aware of this himself. He huffed like I was putting him out and preceded to tell me I would have to wait while he found someone to watch his section. Ten minutes later, I walked down an isle to find him standing there chatting with two associates casually and in no hurry as he methodically put on his sweater and vest. After watching this for five minutes, he looked up and saw me and started walking towards me. Then he asked again, "so, the wood is moldy?" I said, yes. He grabbed a work device and walked away, took a look at the wood, and left to the back of the store. Not once explaining what is happening, what he's doing, how much longer, etc. At this point i walked to the return desk, to return the boards that I had already paid for and I have now been waiting for 20 minutes for and not received. I only needed ten pieces. The only reason I would come back to this store, is because the man that my husband and I usually deal with, Mike, is so amazing, that he makes up for the incompetance (on so many levels) of Edward.
I absolutely love the level of customer service this particular Lowe's location offers. Being a district manager in a retail setting for several years, I always pay particular attention to the level of customer service offers in a store. This location never ceases to amaze me. Balancing getting and keeping their departments is an ongoing challenge for retail workers. I always try my best to locate what I'm looking for on my own without disrupting an employee: however, this location I always have a great team member stop what they're doing and approach me to ask what I'm looking for. Sometimes, I'm nowhere near what I'm looking for. Instead of them simply telling me what aisle # I can find where to locate my item they drop what they're doing and chat away with me while walking to my aisle and locating all the options I have. Being handicapped now, this means the world to me!!! Thank you Lowe's for doing such an amazing job. The store is always clean and very well stocked. So many retailers could take lessons from you. Sometimes their product might be a bit more costly but it's totally worth the extra couple dollars just to have a fabulous customer service experience. I truly hope that this review is shared with the management and staff of this location. They all deserve commendation for a job well done. Thank you Lowe's, you have a customer for life!
We went to purchase a cabinet for our store and knew exactly what we wanted because we were there earlier looking. The staff in the toolbox/garage storage area was at first helpful. But when we asked to open the floor model (it was locked, no one could find the keys) So that’s fine but he wanted to open up the cabinet we’re buying & we didn’t want that. Possibly having a opened box while transferring (possibly damaging it. So my husband asked why there were no keys for the display model and the salesman was getting upset/, even saying he would come to our store to harass us! So he walked away. The manager confirmed there was a shelf inside but that’s about it. We wanted 2, so we just stood around for an hour while they tried finding the other one - I wanted to walk out at this point but my husband waited. A total of 2 hours were spent waiting for 2 cabinets to come so we could leave. No one helped us load it in our truck outside and they were heavy. I was upset about that but we just wanted out of there at that point. Never will we go back to that store again.
My rating is based on service. I went there to get a product from one end of the city to their location because the web site and a human told me there was stock. Guess what, I go across town and get everyone telling what isle it is in and no luck. I finally get someone paged and then was told there is no stock and that it's been replaced by new product. Fyi. The new product is from the same company and same specs as what I wanted. Just more money. I explained I want what was told to me to be on hand (computer showed stock). I asked for a manager. No manager showed up. So dissatisfied with the service and run around. Nice store, lots of stuff. No help, and get the run around from what I can all "don't like your job" attitude. Employees at this store need a lesson on customer service and a attitude adjustment. I don't think I was asking for much. Ugh. What's wrong with companies and employees these days. Must be "Retail". So sad to have to put it that way. Do better Lowe's. ...
Poor, a light I bought 90 + 17 days ago decided to give up its 9-5 and become a strobe light (to clarify, this was a normal LED light that should not be a strobe light), so I thought no problem I'll exchange it. Nope, that's later than 90 days good luck with the manufacturer warranty. To boot, they tested it (fair) and had the audacity to ask me, is it supposed to strobe? I'm not asking for much, it's not like I'm trying to return Christmas lights in January, I just wanted my defective item replaced. They could have warrantied it and I could have walked away happy, but I guess that's how they make $4 billion dollars a year. Edit: Called the number below, confirmed they will not replace my light because 90 days have passed. The person was nicer than the store at least. I had to go through the manufacturer who will replace it, but I have to wait for it to be shipped, instead of just picking up one of the many in stock off the shelf.
Ordered a washer/dryer combo in May. All was on backorder, except for the pedestal part of my washer. That piece was in store, supposedly waiting for the rest of my order to arrive. I pre-paid in full for all, btw. Backorder wasn't an issue... that's par for the course these days. But when the rest of my order arrived, the one part that was actually here mysteriously disappeared. Delay upon delay. Finally, 5 months later, the piece arrives and delivery/install scheduled. On the scheduled day, crickets. I took a day off work specifically for this. When I called to find out when to expect the delivery, I was told there was a "mix-up". Delivery was rescheduled, and I missed a days' pay. The in-store staff were lovely. But now I'm just annoyed. I was never offered a reason why the missing piece went missing in the first place, and now delivery was messed up. You can do better Lowe's.
Yesterday evening I visited this store and found one item which was in great deal so I took that and went to cashier at self checkout and the price was different then shown so I told that lady that this price is incorrect its display price is $10 less so she told me to go back to appliances to confirm the price. That was a red flag for me but still I went their and as appliances employee he spend so time and then told me to just take the picture what it displays so I took it and went back to that cashier she spend another 5 mins just to figure out its same product and then started asking me when did this flyer came in.. I said this is not my work just see the picture and just price match it but she was just wasting time so I left the store. Store was nice but employees are the below standard didnt match my expectations and worst experience overall.
Awful experience today, went to buy mortar and realized Home Depot had it for a lower price. Asked if they would price match and the cashier said they would, just would require an override from a manager. Waited for the manager only to be berated by her and another employee about the price already being cheaper as I used pro. Both employees continued to talk down to me and argue about the price. I explained that it’s not my job to know their policies and the berating continued, I said that this was a waste of my time and paid, I told them they offer awful customer service and was told I’m welcome to share that feedback on their feedback form. Horrendous experience, terrible service, except the poor cashier who initially was serving me. Embarrassing that a company of this size offers such terrible service.
This is my closest hardware store and I’ve never had even 1 good experience here. I don’t know why I keep coming back. Anytime I’ve asked where something is, the staff deflect me, or reluctantly in an aggravated manner explain where it might be. I said thank you for a staff member bringing me flooring from the back today and he just looked me, shook his head and walked away. Lastly they never have stock of anything I go there for. I always have to drive to Home Depot after anyways, absolute waste of time. They should really just focus on selling appliances and garden Center stuff. If you want to get anything done as far as home renovations go, don’t go to this location.
I had previously given this Lowe's a 4-star rating HOWEVER, after waiting 3 months for my fridge and calling Lowe's to follow-up they don't even deserve a 1-star rating! I tried 3 times to reach an appliance associated and was put on hold all 3 times for over 15 minutes each time. THEN I called back and asked to speak to the manager on duty and twice they didn't even answer their phone! Was a gong show! Now I have to drive out of my way to go check on the status of my fridge that Lowe's is to awful at even taking the time to one answer their phones but also can't even follow up with their customers!! I've never had these issues dealing with Home Depot.
Went into the store with my wife looking at purchasing gardening supplies today. A planter was labeled at a lower price that did not match the price at the tills. The cashier and supervisor was starting the price adjustment while calling in the manager Ashley. She did not even try to match the price or offer any real customer service as we waited for awhile to get it done. All she had to say was "You don't want it?" This was by far the worst experience at this location. Being a manager, customer service should be your #1 priority. The hourly staff displayed more of this than Ashley did. Home depot will be our go to place from now on.
Went in and unexpectedly found a great deal on blinds. Tanya helped my partner and I decide on the best type of blinds for our needs and ensured we got the best price. If you’re in need of blinds I would highly recommend going to see Tanya at the west hills location, she knows about each product and doesn’t mind putting in the extra effort to help you out. I should also mention my partner and I went in bright and early and were greeted by multiple other employees who all had a smile on their face and were happy to offer assistance if needed. It’s for this reason that west hills is my preferred location to shop at.
The Lowe's location is my favorite hard ware store in the southwest. Before I used to have to drive all the way to Chinook mall Home Depot to get my home improvement materials, I really like Lowe's because they usually have all the things I'm looking for and I get 2x airmiles here which is awesome. The store is nice, clean with large inventory. However, i find the customer could be improve because it takes so long for me to get any assistance when I need help loading or finding certain material. Overall, I recommend this Lowe's for your home improvement needs, just be patience if you need additional assistance.
I saw the tile I wanted for my bathroom surround on Lowe’s website and I came into the store looking to buy it, unfortunately they only have 2 boxes left and I needed a lot more. The staff guy told me I can order online and get it shipped to my home or wait for the restock and come back in a week. I was slightly disappointed as I was in the middle of a renovation and needed those tiles as soon as possible. I ended up going over to Roma by west hills and found a similar tile but more expensive per boxes. I wish that Lowe’s offer 1 or 2 days shipping like Amazon so I can get my products much faster.
Some staff are amazing; courteous and knowledgeable! Many others have zero product knowledge, but worse, they don’t even seem to try or act like you’re bothering them. I brought a bolt into the store and asked customer service where I could find the same one. I was told to look in the tools section on the other side of the store. They didn’t know the aisle number. They said someone over there could help me. I looked for someone for 15 minutes. One guy told me the aisle number but didn’t know where the bolt would be as it wasn’t his section. I found someone else who was able to help.
I made a quick stop to pick up something for the shower door today. I was greeted by a welcoming man (red beard/red vest) asking if I required assistance. At the end after a fruitless self-search, I did. I found him being all attentive and he already knew the product was OOS, showed me where it would be if it was in stock to confirm his familiarity with the inventory level, and offered valuable suggestions to find it within the Lowes franchise. After a nice farewell, I left. He couldn't have delivered better customer service today in a city where I find it sorely lacking.
Contractor Service and rental tools Horrible service. Don’t go to Lowes for insulation or rental tools they don’t inspect their equipments, a month ago we rented a machine and wasn’t working properly we waste two days of work we reported and today we rented again the same machine and still does have the same issue, waisted another day of work of two employees. Lowes staff simply don’t care about losing business or provide with proper service to contractors. I guess our company will need to look for a different store moving forward.
Legit the worst hardware store on planet earth. Driving the extra 5-10 to Home Depot is worth it every single time. Horrible inventory system, apparently even the staff don’t know how to use it because about 2/3 of the items in the hardware section are out of stock. I came here about a month ago and the same nuts and bolts were still out of stock. I await the owners response with “there are supply chain issue waaaah waaah” well apparently you are the only one affected this bad. Your store never fails to disappoint me.
Went in to pick up some paint and a few other things. The staff in the paint section were amazing! Then found some storage racks I have been watching for months.. #supplychain They loaded the large racks onto a cart for me and brought them to the front of the store. The cashier was so helpful and facilitated me to upload their VIP app.. I saved money on the paint and the entire purchase. Nicely done! Had delivery for the large racks which were in hand within two days. Super happy with the service over all.
Worst customer service I have ever received. Went in today to get a second key made. Was told to wait as they had to use the bathroom for 10 MINUTES. Made the key wrong so I had to drive all the way back. Was told to wait again because they HAD to go for lunch. After almost waiting 30 MINUTES, I asked for a refund. Low functioning employees with zero regards to people’s time. Wouldn’t recommend anybody to go here unless you enjoy waiting around so that they can have their precious little lunch parties.
I have to give one star but if it let me id give minus 5 ! Went in there to buy a propane tank due to I have a Rona gift card. They are owned by Rona now and closed the Rona across the street. You would think since all of their systems run off shifty old Rona systems they take both brands cards. I was told they don't accept Rona yet till they change the sign on the front! Never going back. Home Depot has the brands anyway I prefer. Run don't walk away from this horrible excuse of a store!
Becky in the window shadings knows her stuff! I had been to several other places and was beyond frusterated with the lack of knowledge I could find anywhere. I am doing my decor from scratch and she was incredibly patient on pricing out and showing me my options, advising me on all the new regulations, what my options were and even was able to suggest places to go for some things that Lowes didnt carry. What a great experience in this store today! Made my life a little easier! I will be back! A+
Today at 12:20 in the morning, there was a yappy poodle in the store. It was barking at customers and rubbing up on the merchandise. This is extremely unsanitary as dogs carry diseases such as: Rabies, Noroviruses, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Brucella, Yersinia enterocolitica, Campylobacter, Capnocytophaga, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Coxiella burnetii, Leptospira, Staphylococcus intermedius. As a customer who values peace and cleanliness, I urge management to please keep animals out of the store.
I was just price checking a few things, like a Scroll Saw, Band Saw Blades, and Shelving Hardware. - Poor selection on all counts. - Only 1 band-saw blade, and it was way overpriced. - Staff member (in tools) didn't seem to listen to what I was telling him. He just heard a few key words, and then tried to sell me whatever was in-store. Other than what I mentioned, the store was clean, well staffed, inviting, and generally well stocked/organized. Side note: "Inflation Sucks!" Just in general.
Way to reward customer loyalty by not honouring clearance pricing on 1 gallon Alberta Spruce from the Lowe's store at Macleod trail. After checking with your Manager, your supervisor suggested I buy at regular price at your store and go ask for the discount at the other store. Needless to say, I wasted 1.5 hours of my time between trips over the last weekend. Today, less than a week later, all the stock you were holding on to is gone and confirmed it was for the same clearance price!
Staff ignore you, when you make a point of asking one for help finding something, instead of trying to help you get I don't know. I brought the article up online to show the man I asked for help exactly what I was looking for and that it says there were 17 in stock. Eventually he said it's on the opposite side of the building. I asked if he could narrow it down a little he said no! Haven't had much luck with floor staff. Customer service on the other hand has been super helpful.
Waited for 20 minutes after talking to 4 different associates saying I needed help in the seasonal section getting something from outside, I call customer service on my phone in store and they say sorry we'll page someone right away. Okay finally thank you, another 10 minutes of waiting at the seasonal desk and a random worker passing by stops, turns around and asks if I needed help with anything. Either hire more staff or just close down. Terrible experience
I absolutely love this Lowe’s garden centre, they have all the pots and plants I need for my gardens. I have buy almost 80 percent of my plants need here. You have to stop by early morning if you want to get the grade A stuff, I find usually in the afternoon or evening all the good flowers are gone. Also I love the staff at the garden section, always friendly and helps me find what I need. Highly recommend this Lowe’s for buying you plants and flowers!
I came here in the evening to get some paint. There was only one sheen of paint sample available and I was unable to have my color matched because the machine was broken. Waited around a good while before finding this out as there was only one employee in the area. Generally, there are not people around to help out like there are at Home Depot. In my opinion, generally worth the extra 15 minute drive to Home Depot near Chinook.
This store constantly feels like you are visiting on the last day before it is closing. Never a basket for shopping, shelves are bare and there is little inventory and never a bag available to purchase at the checkout when you’re buying a hundred tiny items - like one often does at a hardware store. They did offer me an old Amazon box they found. The staff are nice but why not give them an equipped store to work in?
Bought and left a garden cart for assembly Was told it would be ready in a week and would be called when it was ready for pickup. Didn't receive a call. When I called to check the employee couldn't tell me what the charge would be repeatedly put me on hold without letting me know and got no information other than it was ready. Overall I have experienced excellent service so may be a one off from this employee.
Stopped in to pick up an online order for a shower. Jose in the plumbing department was fantastic. He helped to check the inventory and make sure that each of the three pieces were in stock, complete and not damaged, before we ordered them and drove for over the hours each way to pick them up. At the store, the staff were helpful and had the order ready to go, then helped to load the truck as well.
The cashier did a great job sanitizing the checkout area. I wish I could say that the other staff members that we saw were as conscientious about personal safety. All throughout the store there were groups or pairs of employees chatting who were not 6 ft apart. We also had questions but found it difficult to break up the personal conversations to get help. We've had better service other times.
Some of the worst costumer service you’ll find in the city. I’ve been to this location on three separate occasions and there is never anyone available to help with finding parts or equipment. The help buttons in the aisles seem like they are only for show.. customer service is just as bad when you call. Only reason I’m not giving it a 1 star is because they’re stock on parts is usually not bad
There was a washer and dryer delivery. The deliverers left the washer and dryer in the middle of the living room, they didn’t connect it, the old ones weren’t taken away because the hoses weren’t unscrewed from the old ones. There was a child at home. I was outside. My request to wait for me for 5 minutes was refused. Have left. Why not make the customer satisfied? It's not difficult..
I absolutely love this Lowe’s location, right by my house and close to my work. Before this Lowe’s, I used to have to drive all the way down to Home Depot but not anymore! They have plenty of lumber options plus treated as well but I wish they had a full lumber yard like the north west location. However, they do have a nice garden department. Definitely recommend!
Today I received outstanding customer service from an associate, named Erik. He went over and beyond typical customer service. He was very friendly, knew the store and exactly what I was looking for. He offered to cut the wood I had bought. I am very grateful for his service and his guidance with my visit today. Thank you so much, Erik!!
Came one night after work to get a new dishwasher…. Stood by the appliances section for about half an hour and no one came to help. Pushing the help button did nothing. Had to go and find someone but there was absolutely no body around to help. Never any help or hardly any products. I would not recommend shopping here ever.
Good store and the employees there are usually great, however, there is almost never anyone to help out in certain sections, particularly plumbing. I realize there are staffing issues everywhere right now, but it can be quite frustrating. Usually have to run to Home Depot after to get the correct parts and advice.
Came in tonight looking for a replacement for a leaky kitchen faucet hose. John from plumbing dept promptly identified my moen product and offered a replacement free of charge as is under the factory warranty. most people dont know this and buy the parts themselves. Great service. thank you John.
It was a tough day for the outdoor plants because of cold weather. Unfortunately there were no staff outside. The cashier staff are very helpful. A staff member walked away from me as I was shopping. I believe staff should look customers in the eye, greet them and ask if they want help.
Ordered blinds in October 2022, came to install in December 2022 and got the sizing wrong on one of the panels. It's now May 2023 and I still have to keep calling to get updates. I'm going to try head office because no progress is being made even when getting the managers involved.
Always love coming here! Selection is always good compared to other Lowe’s. Good sales!Depending on timing of when you go trying to find help can be a little tough. It’s hard now a days a lot of people shop online, so I get how they don’t need as much staff on.
I had to go do an exchange yesterday morning for something I ordered online and the 2 ladies working in customer service at signal hill location were so rude. I didn’t even get a proper greet never mind good customer service. It was so disappointing.
The worst customer service I have ever encountered. Every time you ask these guys something it feels they would rather be elsewhere. No care at all. The same goes for management. Hopefully another hardware store takes over this prime location soon.
Picked up some plywood and screws here on Friday. Lots of checkouts open and lots of helpful staff around to help me load my vehicle. Good price on the plywood with the Lowe's VIP pro discount. Nice big store with ample parking when I was there.
I love this Lowe's store, right by my house and usually have all the things I need. But the customer service is quite lacking since we had to wait so long for someone to come help use with the wood cutting section. Other then the waiting
Conveniently located for residents in the west side. Prices and selection are not as good as Home Depot in general but there are times when Lowes has a better deal. Online inventory is unreliable. I've gone there several times to pick up
Great store, great service and great employees. I felt bad as I arrived close to 8:00pm on a Sunday (closing time that day of the week), and tried hurriedly to find one item. I've been to a few other places (not Lowe's) and the employees
Very friendly and helpful staff. It was definitely a nice change as opposed to going to somewhere else. I was able to find exactly what I needed quickly without having to travel down whole bunch of different styles to find what I needed
Came in looking for a new outdoor decking set and I was surprise how big and nicely organised the store is. This Lowe's store have a huge selection of outdoor furniture and even an outdoor garden. I ended up walking around looking at
My first time at Lowes and honestly the staff is helpful. I was looking for daylight lamps and door handles. The staff was kind and patient enough to answer all my questions and went an extra mile to make sure I got what I came for.
I wish they didn't close down the contract side of the Lowe's cuz we still buy things late and load over product late pushing it through the main door doesn't work for us need better help They try to be helpful as much as they can
Good hardware store located in a great neighborhood with lots of access points. Lots of variety inside. Friendly staff. Layout of the store works well. Traffic in the area can get a bit congested with how many stores are near by.
Signal Hills Calgary store not very friendly. The appliance floor people are terrible. Rude for sure. Will not go there again. Too bad Rona across the street is closing. And please don't respond with the normal ordinary response.
It was my second visit in the same day to a deferent searching for some plumbing fitting but both of them did not have it very disappointing specially a simple item that I buy all the time from Home Depot and other places
I came into Lowes tonight to purchase a dishwasher. I was helped by Avani and Edwin. They both were so kind and helpful. I really appreciated all the effort they took in helping me leave with one! Thanks again!
Friendly and helpful staff and great price match guarantee. Just wish they'd get their saw fixed. At the very least, provide your staff with a decent handsaw. The team in the lumber area were super helpful.
Go to Canadian Tire where it’s easy to find what you need and the prices are better. (I love seeing what isle I need to get stuff from so I don’t need to find someone so they can escort me yo what I want)
The staff are nice and try to help but in my experience the store tends to always have low inventory. Needed to pick up some paint rollers. The shelf was bare.... I usually have better luck at Home Depot.
Go in looking like regular Joe and get nothing, go in Sunday morning first thing wearing your highest of high vis and get the best customer service of your life because they think your in there stealing.
A huge store filled with nothing... There selection is extremely poor. The employees are completely useless and unable to make even a basic recommendation. And that is IF you can find one to talk with.
Huge selection and friendly staff will to help when they can. They have great sales especially at the change of the season. Generally my go to when looking more in-depth for home improvement options.
Went to the store to buy a trailer. They were moved from one side of the store outside to the end of the parking lot. No one seemed to know where they are so I had to wait for the "guy that knows".
We needed transition strip for the bathroom floor, but they didn't have the right color for the chrome tile. Se we had to place an order and get it ship here. Not too bad of a shopping experience.
We had awesome service from Ken in appliances!!! So helpful in getting us an oven ordered for delivery and then helped us to find a washer dryer at another Lowes! Great help from a nice guy.
I have dealt with a few associates in the paint department and they have always been super helpful and friendly! Returns here are a breeze and I usually get in and out of the store quickly.
Edit Octiber 30, 2022: Went in for 120L storage bins, the website said there were 10 left in stock. Asked 1 person who showed us which aisle they were supposed to be in, there wasn't,
Fantastic customer service! Would like to thank Eunis in appliances who help me out. Extremely knowledgeable about the products and friendly! First class service. Thank you.
We go to this store for our home DIY stuff. Staff are warm and friendly. They usually guide on the substitutes, alternatives and the location of the items etc etc.
Good quality stuff but the lack of any cashiers is a huge put off . They have only self checkout and one customer service rep who is overloaded all the time.
I want to preface by saying I RARELY will leave a one star review. This was my first time coming into this Lowe’s. I am refurbishing a dresser I
Waited 25min for someone to cut wire for me. Was ignored multiple times. More people need to be “trained” to cut wire. It’s not hard…….
Steve at the front desk helped me find and replace the drill driver my husband bought the wrong one for the job, appreciate his help.
Needed a stud finder and electricity pen. Had both in stock and many different types. Ended up buying a few other things as well.
I don't ever like going to Lowe's because of the lack of customer service and how difficult it is to pay and get moving
If they say they are calling you back tomorrow, they aren't calling you back. Good store, poor service.
Prices are better than other hardware stores marginally. The quality of products are quite good.
It wasn't too bad of a place was not busy but the prices were a little high
