Fine dining and share plates are 2 things that just don't go together. Sharing meals is very casual. My partner and I went and paid for the feed me menu $85 each. The share plate for the mains were ridiculous. The first was chicken which was tiny. 2 small pieces of chicken with one plain - nothing under or on top, the other with sauce and Mushroom on top. To share in fine dining - how do we split the Mushroom and sauce? Plus to transfer liquid from one plate to another is impossible. So the main is then just a piece of plain dry chicken the salad is just Lettuce leaves. The food was not worth $170. It would also be nice to know what you get with the feed me, every place I've been you know exactly how many courses, what the course will be and in which order. This one is totally blind. Entree all came together, so when the first main of chicken and Lettuce came we thought that was the only main, which put us in a bad mood thinking how terrible! Then the beef - which you must ask a customer how they like their steak cooked, not everyone eats rare - we had to send back and ask to cook more. Had we known the beef meal was coming we wouldn't have even eaten the dry plain chicken. In any case, we certainly were not full when we left. Also I am no chef or nutritionist - but I've always thought eating something burnt is not good for you - the dessert which is literally egg white on fire, was not really edible. We had to take off all the outside to eat the scoop of ice cream on the inside - again sharing the one thing, not so classy, you couldn't do the feed me menu with someone you weren't close enough to eat from the same plate. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the fitout is absolutely stunning. If you train your wait staff (I understand it's hard times for staff, that's why I haven't mentioned them thus far) and choose to either be fine dining or casual?! This place could be amazing. Pictured is the entree, which was a great start - then all down hill from there. All pictured is meant to share with 2 people. The white plate is my serving of the main. I definitely prefer my home cooking and would not pay over $200 for us to go again even though the restaurant itself was beautiful.

What a nice restaurant right in the middle of the city! I was so surprised that I didn’t know about LUMA before. Got to know about it when searching for ACCOR club dining experiences! From the moment we stepped in the restaurant the staff was so friendly and welcoming! Callum served us and he was friendly, professional and add that extra bit of care! The food was also amazing! Perfect portions and nicely presented. We had confit leek croquettes and Adelaide Hills mushroom parfait for entree/snacks. Both entrees were so yummy. For mains we had Barramundi fillet and the seafood risotto. The main dishes also equally tasty! They also have some nice cocktails and a really good wine list! The best part is yet to come! The desserts! I had a classic Bombe Alaska! What a spectacle! Callum even gave enough notice to get the cameras ready to video it the whisky used is from Adelaide as well. 23rd distillery whiskey. A beautiful cellar door in Renmark! The lady served it did it beautifully while explaining everything! Sorry I didn’t get the name The Vanila Crème Brûlée also beautifully presented and equally tasty! Had a problem at the end when paying the bill with the card not working on payWave. But Callum and Poorvi both patiently helped to get it sorted. Highly recommended to visit here for a meal! Perfect to have a meal here before going to the Adelaide Oval for a game or going to the festival theatre

I can't even begin to describe the meal we just had...I'll try but already I know that the words I use won't do it justice. Firstly, the atmosphere is lovely. It's a lot darker than it used to be...makes the setting more intimate. There's also new lighting across the ceiling which is modern but also ties in with the old world charm of the hotel. They also had a singer on the small stage who had a beautiful voice with a large repertoire that added nicely to the atmosphere. The service was friendly and welcoming from the moment we stepped into the bar/restaurant. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't feel pressured to rush and place an order. They also checked in regularly enough to make sure that our meals were going OK and that we didn't need anything but not so much that we felt uncomfortable (like at some other places). Now...the food. There are few times in my life where I have had a perfect meal. There have been outstanding "dishes"...of course! But rarely has there been an entire meal that was worthy to be given the title of a perfect meal. Tonight was as close to perfection as I've ever experienced. Each dish was beautifully balanced and seasoned. The highlight...the mushroom parfait!!! So good that we ordered it again after mains just so we could enjoy it a 2nd time. My husband had the 400g eye fillet and said it was probably the best eye fillet he has ever had - cooked to perfection. The hazelnut chocolate indulgence was divine...not too sweet but still chocolatey and rich. The chef poured the hot chocolate over the top and we watched as it melted through the chocolate disc and into the silky mousse. It wasn't just the food...it was the whole experience. We can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu! Our new favourite ❤️

The best meal of 2022 was just eaten at Luma at the refurbished Playford Hotel. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and we had the opportunity to speak with the Executive Chef Kevin Martel and the delightful Pastry Chef Olga Baranova. I started with the gin cured Kingfish and my wife the chicken breast. To put it simply, just yum! Beautifully presented, tasty and a great starter. We moved onto the Baramundi for my wife and the fillet steak for me. One again, Beautifully presented, tender, tasty and with sides that were the equal to match the main event on the plate. We finished with the Bombe Alaska for me and the Chocolate hazelnut entremet for my better half. This was all a culinary experience hard to match elsewhere. Luma, you have found some big fans. Thank you for an experience that will be hard to match.

This was our second time at the Playford Restaurant for Christmas lunch. The welcome was perfect, the table service throughout the meal was outstanding, and the food, including the vegetarian meal was also delicious. One of our group was unable to attend due to the bushfire in the Adelaide Hills, and we asked for a selection of the meal to be packed so we could take it with us to our friend. The staff handled this request perfectly, but the chef decided that they could not do justice to the presentation of the courses as take-away, and we were offered a full refund without even needing to ask. In addition,we were given a petit fours to take to our friend, and as we were leaving, the senior manager on duty made a point of checking with us that we were happy with the way this situation had been handled. Overall, a very professional but relaxed and enjoyable Christmas lunch.

Took my friend to experience their very popular high tea on her birthday and had a very unpleasant experience. I did mentioned that one of us is vegetarian and one don’t eat seafood but still they brought in the oysters and when I ask one of there staff she was like oh it’s complimentary anyways if you don’t want to eat just leave it when we paid for everything. $69 per head and the amount of food we got served was not even worth of $20. The worst part was we were there for good 3 hours and we left the place not even having tea coz we were never offered and no one was around so we can ask for tea. Such a same went for a high tea and got not tea.. lol.. Well, I hope you guys pay more attention to the service and do offer tea to people.

Took my partner here during our holiday in Adelaide, and everything was excellent. We ordered the cheese soufflé and mushroom parfait to start, both of which were absolutely melt-in-the-mouth taste explosions. We decided on the Luma Canard which was a beautiful exploration of duck done 2 different ways with the carcass also presented to allow diners to have a try at extracting any additional meat they can possibly get. We did desserts were the chocolate indulgence and Bombe Alaska which totally sealed the night for us. An absolutely awesome experience. Special shoutout to Callum who brought top class service.

Even 1 star is extra for the quality of service they provided. Extra effort and money has been put on things like attires (tuxedos) and nil effort has been put on training program for bar/cafe/restaurant staff. All hats and no cattle. Besides they're rude. 13/10- tempted to add another review. Just another terrible experience. Waiters don't seem to care about customerss' needs. You wait for them to fix up the bill for you and they simply avoid eye contacts and even if they do they tryna ignore you (which I just don't understand why ? ) And then, when you shout out then they ignore you AGAIN. It is not something you experience once. It is an experience I had EVERYTIME when I went to the place. By the way, after waiting for 25 mins at the counter, left restaurant without paying the bill. Nobody cares.

Stumbled upon this place by accident on a work trip from Melbourne. Tried heading to other restaurants in Adelaide CBD but apparently kitchens close at 8.30pm on a Friday night! This restaurant is new and recent reviews have unfairly rated this place poorly. I was quite impressed, rates equivalent to Cumulus or Estelle if you’re from Melbourne, so not necessarily fine dining but refined casual. I had the feed me (chef’s selection), kingfish entree was perfect, chicken small was tender and exquisite, steak large perfect medium rare, Bombe Alaska and macaroons for dessert very nice. This place would rate quite highly in Melbourne, will definitely return when next in Adelaide

Absolutely stunning! Le Gouter Luna High Tea for a large group of 8 on Easter Saturday. The presentation and quality of the food was outstanding. The in house chefs take you on a journey to France with a beautifully presented 3 tier serving platter starting with oysters and ending on a selection of delicate French pastries. Highly recommend for that special gathering with special friends. Lovely location and amazing lighting for that perfect group shot.

Luma was recommended to us by a friend and it was even better than we expected. The truffle gnocchi was delicious but the real star of the show was their signature duck. Easily the best duck confit in Adelaide. Soft juicy meat and thin crispy skin - it was delicious. Top notch service from Callum was the cherry on top of a wonderful night. He knew the menu well, gave us good recommendations and you could tell how passionate and proud he was of the food they served. A true asset to the Luma team. Live acoustic music accompanying the meal was also great.

Fantastic New Year's Eve celebration. We started with a delicious cocktail at the bar. Dinner was a series of tapas style dishes, ranging from fish or chicken and beef. Sliders and tasting spoons , smoked salmon with cream cheese on blinis garnished with dill. Lots of luxurious, tasty morsels every one a sensational flavour cooked to perfection. Our dinner included free flowing wines and champagne to toast in the new year. We were served by Helene and Russell who made sure that we didn't miss out on anything. Wir waren für zwei nächste im Playford und haben am ersten Morgen das Frühstück genossen. Es gibt ein überschaubares, dafür aber sehr hochwertiges Angebot. Der Kaffee wird auf Wunsch kostenlos vom Barista hergestellt, ansonsten steht noch ein Kaffeevollautomat zur Selbstbedienung am Buffett. Abzug gibt es, weil man kein Omelett bestellen kann, die Bestellung der Eierspeisen (Rührei und Spiegelei) etwas unstrukturiert war und der Frühstücksbereich sehr offen einsehbar und nicht privat genug war. Die Bedingungen war sehr freundlich.

Having said that, the service was second to none, the atmosphere was above what I expected and the food was miles above my expectations. First time back since it's refurbishment. The leeks were excellent, the barramundi was perfectly cooked( most chefs over cook and it'll dry out in seconds, well ✔️). Our table service was great. Now,,, the duck fat chips were unedible, the souffle was average, and the barramundi sides didn't do anything for the mains but bring down this stunningly cooked fish. This restaurant has a good start, but some way to go to be great.

Didn’t expect much for a hotel dinner restaurant but I really loved dinner here! I had the kingfish ceviche which came out smoked - it was so tasty and paired so well with the crackers! Very upscaled restaurant designed around a classical take on the Art Nouveau movement. The culinary dexterity in some of their entrés is to die for, and the staff are highly trained in the art of true service. The food here is top quality and I've experienced 3 dining experiences, all with 3 course meals and wine. Every sitting has proven to be better than the last and the lounge area opposite the restaurant is a great place for a midday coffee or evening drinks.

Taste sensation 5 stars all the way! Oh my the food was amazing every dish had so much thought put into the flavours and presentation, even the side dishes (the carrots were amazing and almost a dish itself). Difficult to pick a stand out dish as they were all fabulous.. the cheese souffle was delicious, served with a beautiful salad. The service was also as good as the food, friendly, happy and enthusiastic.

Ermergawd... grab 1 waffle, add vanilla bean thickened cream, nutella and maple syrup to it, you're welcome. Its popular so you only get 1 hour slot to eat. Mushrooms are epic too! As long as you like rich sounding Australians speaking with British accents and opera music non stop as your company, youll love it. On a cobber scale of 1-5, I give it a full 5 cobbers, govenor!

One of the best meals we've had in Adelaide. So happy to come back to our home town for a visit and discover this gem in the hotel we were staying at. Portions are big and food is tasty and well presented. Highly recommend!

Incredibly polite & friendly staff, amazing food and atmosphere, and the chef was very accommodating for my dietary requirements (gluten- and dairy-free). Worth the money & would definitely go back.

Great spot for a quick after work drink and snack. The mushroom parfait was as smooth as butter and went down a treat. The duck and mushroom tarts were tasty. Friendly staff.

Had a shared platter with a glass of wine. The combination of foods was amazing. I am now curious of main meals. Will deft check them out next time.

The king salmon is excellent, oyster is above average, the wagyu's souce got a little bit salty and sticky, don't like the desert.

Beautiful hotel and restaurant, 5 star experience, lamb and chicken like you've never tasted before - a wonderful meal.

Food is absolutely amazing. Staff are very educated on their menu and are very accommodating. Great cocktails as well.

Gr8 location close to everything breakfast buffet is really out with choices, love coming here. Also friendly service
