Disgusting, discriminatory staff and service. I was approached this week by a short, plump black woman, with short, curly hair, who noticed that I had two small items in my hand. She decided, on my behalf, that I had difficulty carrying them so she told me it'd be "better to leave them at the counter" - while holding them myself was no struggle at all. This was a clear hint that she was concerned I was going to steal them, since I had a large shoulder bag - and she wasn't taking items off other customers to put aside. Nor did she suggest using a carry basket for the items. I had not been displaying any suspicious behaviour with the items. This was a deliberate target. Customers are entitled to hold items until they either pay for them or put them back. No theft took place; I voluntarily showed my bag, taking everything out prior to exiting, and was cleared. I returned shortly after to explain the plump woman's attitude, telling her that I hadn't stolen and had no intention of doing so. Another paranoid staff person called security, to whom I relayed the dialogue I'd had with the plump woman. I was not requested to leave, however I did anyway. My exchange with the plump, black woman was partly sarcastic, but not aggressive or abusive. I entered again today to shop there and was informed by an Asian employee that I have been "banned from Muji and the whole centre". After raising this with Emporium security I was told that I was not banned from the centre; however Muji have their own protocols. Absolutely twisted, precious and irresponsible customer treatment from very scattered, unprofessional staff who form an immediate and very obvious suspicion, but convey it ambiguously; then, for absolutely no justifiable reason, ban the customer against whom they formed the initial prejudice, and who committed absolutely NO CRIME, whatsoever, on either visit. Companies like this shouldn't exist - nor should the staff. No other customers were spoken to, followed, or requested to leave stock at the counter. The plump, black woman has known me previously as a customer and has also surveyed me whilst in the store, however I have never shoplifted from Muji or been questioned about it, and this will match their experience and evidence. I'm to assume that this staff member has either a pathological aversion to males between the age of 18 and 70, or she struggles with a compulsive condition that clouds her sane and logical assessment of customers' appearance, or their ability to hold manageable items in their hands. A brain like that is very difficult to work out. Lack of intelligence on Muji's part would prevent them from recognising, too, that this whole circus is subject to civil action, while being the kind of business that fully supports and condones thoroughly unprovoked suspicion and profiling of their customers.
I just bought interior fragrance oil today, my first time shop here too, very bad experience. The price show $16, but the eight wood sticks put in the fragrance cost $5. Just like you go to buy milk tea, the milk tea cost $5 but the straw cost $3 extra. What a joke !! Just be aware!! After I purchased the item. I feel like get grip off from the company planning to return the item the reason change of mind, but when I check the receipt again. The receipt show like “change of mind within 30days from the date of purchase” on the top. On the bottom they list almost every things not allow to change of mind” !!!
Okay Melbourne peeps and others that are here for whatever reason!!. This place is going to be my go to Home for almost everything!. It's amazing . Indian clothing and fabric slash Japanese style everything else and whatever else is inbetween . This is like IKEA but better. I did not get lost because this is just the right size for a store bearing everything bar the kitchen sink. Actually, I'm sure you are able to get NIC nacs for the sink
Muji is always my top choice for shopping. The store is beautifully laid out, with soothing music playing, creating a relaxing atmosphere. They offer a range of exquisite Japanese products at reasonable prices, and sometimes there are discounts. My favorites are Muji furniture and storage solutions, they're of excellent quality.
Some items they sell are better than others. E.g. the storage organisers are pretty good and useful. Other items are gimmicky and bad e.g. their foldable duster doesn’t lock properly and breaks apart quickly. It’s also not a cheap store; there are other places that sell similar things for less.
I absolutely love this store! I always buy my stationary there as it’s durable and more environmentally friendly than other options. A great store if you're looking for minimalist "aesthetic" items.
I bought a bed sheet, staff forgot to remove the locker and I have to take a lot of time to go back to shop and remove that , the staff only said “ sorry “, that it is …
So many useful products that are simple and aesthetic. The store also smells lovely! Friendly staff and very tidy even though it was busy!
