As a former employee of ALH Group accompanied by my sister who is still current, we know the privilege it is to have a staff card, in saying that we pride ourselves on trying out venues all over. On this particular day (10/10/2023) we decided to try out the Manhattan Hotel Feast to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Upon arrival the atmosphere was delightful and the venue itself is quite nice compared to others. As we waited for service at the entrance of the feast buffet (reception etc) a middle aged (30-60) lady serviced us and showed us to our table, the unwelcoming facial expression didn’t bother us, we know hospo and we know how it is however, as time went on, we started eating etc. I then decided to purchase some soft drink (2 jugs) from the bar so as I waited to be served, the same middle aged lady (thin build, brown hair, bangs styled fridge with pony tail) said with a look of irritation/ disgust on her face after placing only 2 jugs on the bar, “is their more of use coming or are you just really thirsty?”. (Mind you their were only 4 of us) I simply replied, “2 jugs, honey this is nothing.” Now, I can say a lot of things as to why she would say something like this, could it have been because I’m larger in size and the two jugs imply that I drink a lot because I’m bigger or the fact that you wanted to brace yourself in case a whole bunch if islanders came in and you would actually have to do some work? Which would actually be a great thing, if we’re talking making money wise. Or was it a dig at the fact that I’m an islander and she felt the need to express her small minded comment because it makes her feel superior. After this classic moment between the 30 - 60 something year old Women, my sister and I as well as our partners definitely came to realise how rude this women is, we also noticed that majority of the staff besides the lovely chefs servicing behind the counter where food is placed - none of the waitresses or waiters smiled. I would have mentioned her name but I feel as if she’d feel special knowing she got a review instead. All in all and in simpler terms if your going to work in hospitality, take your common sense, manners and a smile with you! On the plus side, the Asian vegetables were fantastic and the middle aged (either 30,40,50,60) women did bring out my partners cake she offered to store, so for that I’ll will say, manners are still alive. Due to this, me and my enormous family who tend to book out venues and go all out for functions will not attend your venue again, as we might be targeted for ordering 20 jugs or more.. which is the norm with us big beautiful families

We held a celebration for our children's baptism and first communion at The Manhattan's Liberty room. We had an excellent experience! The room size was perfect for our group of 65 people. There was adequate room for our tables (which each seated 8 - 9), gift and bonbonniere tables, around the bar, on the dance floor/photo area, and a fabulous area for the kids to play (we set up board games/craft for them). The food was excellent and delicious. We went for the buffet option and really liked that you were able to select so many options for the price allocated. The chefs and wait staff were also responsive on the day - if we needed food topped up, in serving cake around, etc. There were also adequate staff at the bar serving our guests. Importantly, we cannot speak more highly of Kelly, the function manager! She was so lovely to deal with - friendly, supportive and highly responsive throughout the process. She was also very diligent, had excellent communication skills, and exceptional organisation skills. No question was too hard, she always had great suggestions, and she always wanted to find ways to make our event wonderful and our lives easier. All in all, a very positive experience, we would definitely recommend them and would definitely have an event there again. The celebration will be one we will always cherish - our sincere thanks to Kelly and the Manhattan team for contributing so beautifully to that.

Had a wonderful night as we celebrated our shared 40th at Elliot's Bar at the Manhattan. All guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We would Personally like to Thank our Bar Staff Jaylan and Molly for ensuring the night was hassle free and our guests were well looked after. Also appreciate the time and effort the venue manager Phil went to with addressing our issues with some of the problems we encountered leading up to the night with the events 'manager' and hotel 'receptionist'. Perhaps Jaylan and Molly could lead a team meeting on customer service? Hopefully these issues can now be resolved moving forward for other patrons and guests. - Important to note that this would not be a 5 star review if not for the bar staff and Phil redeeming our overall experience.

Our first time for family eating out for Christmas we were sceptical thought it would be too noisy to talk too crowded to move and weren't sure what the food would be like well how wrong we were blown away by the whole set up not too noisy not too crowded could move around quite easily and the food set up presentation was fantastic fresh and plenty of everything if you needed anything all you had to do was ask nothing was too much trouble the tables were set up beautiful and the staff were happy smiling and glad to be there and the kids loved Santa great family environment definitely going back next year Thank you to all the staff for making our Christmas wonderful From the Hollis Table

I celebrated my 70th birthday there a week ago, the function went well and the finger food provided was delicious but I’m very disappointed with how my guests were treated, a few needed to use the elevator but were refused access and even though a couple had booked accommodation for the night, they were not allowed to use the elevator to get to their room on the upper floor and had to seek accommodation elsewhere, there’s 1 elevator in the building although they’ve got at least 3 function rooms and all the accommodation on the upper level and they expect elderly guests with walkers to use stairs, they don’t even have a ramp. NOT GOOD AT ALL.

Food has gone downhill but prices have gone up to $42 for an adult! Unless you eat the seafood, you better eat up huge to get your money's worth. Food was very average, and there were hardly any gluten free or vegetarian/vegan options anymore

Crowd control an issue here this lunchtime for seniors. 2 manhattan lady staff at door in black and other in white near food area, need to be courteous and stop pushing people away with hands , that’s assault. Yes it’s massive but the staff need to keep it together, the male n bar staff was polite n gracious despite the surging crowd, so it can be done.

We had our Christmas Function in the Liberty Room at the Manhattan Hotel and it was such a beautiful space for our organization. Kelly was amazing to work with from beginning to the end catering to our needs of food, environmental needs and flexibility with packages. She tailored it to suit perfectly to our event. Love how friendly the staff was as well always checking in to ensure we were happy and had everything we needed. Highly recommend this venue and team to work with! We can't wait to work again with them in the near future.

I was tempted to ask for my money back but it will probably take a couple of hours before I can return their food. I know for the money you can't expect much but their food was beyond my expectation. I ate something but not sure it matched the label: the pork tasted like chicken and their fish tasted like something, not sure what. Dessert was the highlight, crusty and sad looking but at least I pretended it was dessert. Can't we have a rating system that gives black holes as well as stars? They need to pickup their game.

We couldn't be happier with the venue we chose for my son's 21st birthday celebration! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The staff were incredibly accommodating, the space was beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. The night went off without a hitch, thanks to the venue's impeccable service. Our family and friends had a fantastic time, and I can't thank the venue enough for making it such a memorable evening. Went there a second time because the food were amazing. It was a full house on a Thursday arvo, because of the Christmas festival I guess. Seafood is to die for, I couldn't remember how many king prawns and mussels I had, they were just yummy and beautiful. Hot food, highly recommended the lasagne and roastered pumpkin, and creamy cheesey cauliflower. At the end, soft serve is a must.

The accommodation is one of the best hotels in the area which is near, clean, modern and comfortable. There's a little noise from the downstairs bar but it stops well before bed time. The Back Bar is really modern and has a great atmosphere and the big screen and pool tables are a bonus. Staff are all friendly and very helpful. I come through on business and have stayed in a lot of nearby accommodations but this one is my new favourite.

I had my 60th Cocktail party there and we all had a Fantastic time there. Finger-food was delicious and the drinks was too This is the third family event we had there and it won’t be the last. Great place for accommodating large groups (we had a party of 15). The feast buffet has something for everyone. Food was fresh and tasty. Wait staff were lovely and very quick at clearing the table of used plates. The kids cinema room and play area was fantastic. Only reason giving 4 stars is because the ladies toilets was in a terrible condition. Otherwise this is the second time we have visited and enjoyed the buffet as much as the first!

Great food, excellent tap selection, and top-quality bar staff. Their beer garden turned out to be the perfect way to spend grandfinal arvo. Would definitely recommend that you swing by the next time you're out their way, I know I will make it a must when I go back to Melbourne.

I have been to the Manhattan over the last six years presenting training courses in their function rooms. The renovations are astonishing and the venue has really been transformed. Very attentive staff and their manager was very helpful and accommodating. Thank you for hosting such a successful night and look forward to many more.

I recently hired the Empire Room function room for my 30th and it was an amazing event. Kelly did a superb job of making sure everything ran smoothly and that all of our food requirements were met. The atmosphere was amazing and everything was exactly as expected. We all had a beautiful night ☺️
