The Manly Art Gallery and Museum is a unique and treasured gem on the beautiful Northern Beaches. It always has interesting, beautifully mounted and curated exhibitions thanks to its highly professional and dedicated staff and loyal volunteers. It's location and the views of the Harbour beach and ferry wharf are unbeatable. In addition to temporary exhibitions MAGM boasts a permanent collection of art and objects relating to the district that are fascinating culturally. A visit is highly recommended, preferably by coming in a ferry to Manly and strolling under the pines to this free and amazing little Gallery and Museum.
It is a wonderful place for anyone who love art and history. The permanent exhibits quite good place to spend sometime if you are bored around manly beach. Clean, well maintained, air conditioned and spacious. It has ceramics from different parts of the world, including European, Asian and aboriginal works. Next to that, it’s very well organized. The entry is free, however you need to pay if you wish to visit an additional exposition. The outdoor ocean view is fantastic.
Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby, and entry is free. It's quite a small gallery and museum, and doesn't take long to fully tour, but for its size, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. At time of writing, the museum had a musical instrument exhibition, consisting of lots of large photos of musical instruments played by iconic Australian acts, with an accompanying page of associated facts and history. Interesting and nostalgic.
Robust collection for such a small space. If you're stopping into Manly Wharf to make your way to the beach, grab a bite and check this place out before hiking beach side. The art is a mix of photography, paintings, charcoals, mixed media, and pottery. Best of all? It's free so it's no ding to your pocket even if you don't find the art to suit your liking.
When we opened in 1930, MAG&M was NSW’s first metropolitan-based public regional gallery. Today we’re a hub of cultural activity on the Northern Beaches, with changing art and museum exhibitions, and a stimulating program of art workshops for both kids and adults, artist talks, performances and special events.
Always a fantastic collection of top art. Eternally interesting and wonderful location. Staff are helpful and welcoming. As someone else mentioned, the ceramic collection is astonishing, but unfortunately totally uncurated and crowded in a back room. Well worth a regular visit. One of 3 associated galleries.
A beautiful little gallery at the end of Manly Beach (harbour side) not far from the ferry terminal. Gorgeous outlook. Free entry. Only real hassle is that there's no easy parking option for drop off or pick up.

Beautifully sited gallery next to Manly's harbour beach with terrific collection and interesting changing exhibitions of painting, sculpture, ceramics and photographs. Small shop selling locally made art works. The view from the picture window is an art work if it's own. Not a bad cafe next door.
Great cultural experience, free entry. Fantastic location, close to Manly aquarium and amenities.wheelchair access. All local northern beaches artists and their established artworks. Delightful for all who love to see individuality created with personality.would highly recommend.
The Exhibition was a delightful experience seeing Australian Artist Luke Sciberras & and Euan Macleod lovely location 4 halls to view different Modalities Australia’s best . Views of malt shore line icon from inside We caught the fast Ferry from Circular Quay Most enjoyable day
Manly Art Gallery has several exhibition spaces as well as a gift shop for arty presents that will please. Within walking distance of the ferry on West Esplanade. I viewed the recent Environment and landscape Art Prize. Suitable for all ages and interests.
Wonderful gallery. Entrance is free. Close to the ferry and buses. Always have great exhibits. Lots of eateries around. Nearby park for children to play in. The gallery itself is not a great place to take children as there is nothing there for them.
If you want to add some culture to your beach while in Manly, head to Manly Gallery on Western Esplanade. Entrance is free and there are regular artwork exhibitions on programme throughout the year. Easily accessible art in a beautiful location!
Kate Dorrough’s Lineage exhibtion was refreshing and vibrant! Must see! The gallery is a beautiful space and has a few different areas with different exhibits.

Contemporary art. Good selection of great art. The gallery is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the beach, short stroll. Easily accessible. A must see if you are in the area. Was really worth it!
If your over at Manly it's worth a visit, gallery display of local artists. Might be your cup of tea. It's not the round building to the left of the picture it's the smaller building to the right
Manly Dam exhibition on. Interesting collaboration between artist and water management.. ceramic collection interesting too. Booklet explaining the pieces. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.
A loverly quiet space to visit to see local exhibitions and artists work. The council really needs to resuscitate that whole area near the aquarium, what a shame it all sits derelict.
This is a hidden gem. Small gallery of well curated exceptional art. Better than some galleries in major cities. A great place to escape the sun for a hour and well worth a visit
Had the weirdest of art, felt a little disturbed. But the artwork was of a local artist

This gallery is a hidden gem. It's tucked away on the West Esplanade about 200 m from Manly Wharf. They have a fantastic collection with great examples of Streeton and Roberts.
Went here for an amazing exhibit, blending science and art with the focus being ku-ring-gai national park. It was all free and very interesting, interactive and informative.
It's convenient off the ferry along the beach away from the crowd. It's beautifully laid out. It's large and welcoming and it's free. The exhibition changes often .
The lady went above and beyond to make sure that we were able to see all art. She was very knowledgable about the pieces and we learnt so much from being there.
A small gallery with Australian Australian artists, old and new, being shown. Always great to go and have a look. Permanent collect of ceramics is stunning.

Dynamic and relevant programs, workshops and exhibitions. The regional galleries are kicking goals and Manky is fabulous. Supportive of local schools also.
Sensational art on display. Valerie Taylor , the legendary deep sea diver and shark ecologist was giving a talk about her new book which she illustrated.
Nice quiet gallery in the middle of the hustle & bustle on the streets of Manly. Like the work in the gallery, transports you to a different dimension.
What a terrific collection. Well curated and cohesive exhibition. Loved the maps. Although the explanatory plaques are mounted too low. Hard to read.
Three rooms that are on same level. Good surrounds. Exhibits their collection of small sculpture and pottery upstairs in cabinets. Lovely atmosphere
The Northern Beaches Environmental & Art Prize Exhibition is currently being held. Well worth visiting and voting for People's Choice Award....

Interesting small display. Some items for sale. Unusual curating of mass objects in small space. Not everyone's cup of tea.
Worth a visit. Some interesting work on view, from painting to pottery and handcrafted jewelry. Very friendly and welcoming
Good variety of exhibitions, 2 - 3 at a time, changeing every 6 weeks or so, often featuring local/s. Marvellous location!
Saw the art express illustrating yr 12 work. Great facility and easy location. Parking is always an issue around the area.
Put this on your to do list. Lovely local art Gallery. Not too crowded. Stroll at your leisure to evaluate the exhibition
A wonderful little space on the water to view some amazing local art. From maritime themes, to boundary pushing ceramics.
Good quality, ever changing expositions - from modern art to more classical depictions of Australian culture and nature.
Good tourism venue and constantly changing displays make it a worthwhile place to check out. I'd love to see it expand!
Understated venue pushing above it's weight. Wish I had more time to look through the exhibition while I was there
Nice local artists with a lovely atmosphere. The place is very well maintained and artists are changed regularly.
Great little gallery, with some awesome art. Displays rotate through, so something new to look at each time.
A fabulous place with some stunning pieces of artwork. Staff made us very welcome. A lovely place to visit.
The gallery looks small but it's in fact quite large. I was surprised by the quality of exhibitions too.
