An absolute puppy paradise. Beautiful off-leash park for dogs (and their people) to have a fun adventure. I started coming here this summer and I just love the mix of scenery: huge open fields, a forest with tons of little trails to explore, and of course the Red River, which borders much of the park. Almost all people and dogs I have met have been really nice and overall the park is really clean. I find the amount of fencing is perfectly adequate to contain my dog who does not stray that far from me. (For those with dogs who wander, just note that there are some minor gaps where your dog could get out of the park if they really wanted to.) There is also a very big puppy play pen, but it's tucked in the middle of the forest, not by the entrance. Some of the forest trails get a bit mucky after rain, so I'd recommend boots. Also not a bad idea to bring a towel in the summer in case your dog runs down to the river.
I personally think this is the best dog park in the city. It's absolutely huge, gorgeous with almost every type of land that the Winnipeg has to offer. From a big forest, to wide plain, a river, etc. And it transforms season to season so it always makes a very nice place for a walk. I have had some bad experiences with some dogs / owners, but those are a fraction of a fraction of the community. Most people are actually awesome and very friendly. The only negative things I can say about this park is that burrs are very common and often get stuck in my dog's hair, and there are a lot of ticks in the long grass. So be sure to check your dog afterwards.
I guess I am rating this for my dog ! He absolutely loves it. There is so much open space. He starts whining in the car when we are on our way. People are friendly. Dog owners bring jugs of water to refill water bowls for the dogs. There is a Facebook site to keep me updated. I have seen a port-a-potty on site. There is a large, fully enclosed puppy pen for newcomers. We visit several times a week. I have never seen an unhappy dog at the park :) My only complaint is about the inconsiderate people who don’t pick up their dog’s waste. Most do. But more people need to be called out on this ! They also have a Facebook page. Check it out !
This is me and my dog's go to park. We love the trails and the perfectly fallen trees for climbing. There are also two large fields which are perfect for playing fetch. The river is also a perfect spot for my pup to cool off after a long walk, however those with smaller or older dogs may want to be cautious as the current is quite strong once you get more than a few feet from shore. The only thing that could improve this park is if everyone would pick up after their dog. Keep your dog within eyesight and scoop your poop. There are bag stands everywhere, or you could ask someone for an extra, no excuses.
I love coming here, Hudson loves playing with most of the dogs. It is a public dog park after all and not all dogs are socialized well. If you keep an eye on your dog it’ll be great. I love being 5 mins away so I just hop in the car and take Hudson for a ride and he gets a better workout then just on leash for the same period of time. I even use this as a location to meet up with friends who have dogs because it’s not forced for them to just hang out they can play with other dogs anytime.
This is one of the most popular, clean, and spacious dog park in Winnipeg. They recently built a gate at the front entrance to make it even better for those puppies who like to run away. If you like to go to dog parks where you want to see other dogs - this is the one to go to. If you want to see less dogs I would recommend Kilcona park which is about the same size but with the layout of the park you are less likely to run into herd of dogs.
Maple Grove Park - Large Park just off the south Perimeter Highway adjacent to the Red River. Several amenities including a decent size off-leash dog park, football fields, boat launch, frisbee and rugby fields. Fairly clean, tidy, and easy to get to by vehicle. Parking can be limited on weekends due to football games and high volume of users at the dog park. Recommend visit.
Take my dog here every weekend. This is our favourite dog park. There is an open area when you enter the park and the trail leads in to a small forest (which can get little bushy and shrubby in summer). Behind the forest, there is another open field. The park is heavily trafficked during weekends which is great if you want your dog to socialize as there is a lot interactions.
Fantastic Off-Leash dog park!! Plenty of open areas for the pups to run free and some tree cover to help you out a bit on those windier days! Tons of great people there too, we currently have a group of around 10 pups that generally do a couple laps every day around 4. Has a fenced in puppy area too which our little guy loved! Always a good time at Maple Grove!
A wonderful place to spend an afternoon with your four legged friend. The trails are lovely and scenic, there are various fields for your dogs to run off leash and play together, there is even a completely fenced area for the puppies and dogs who are just learning what off leash feels like (in a safe way!) We love coming here!
Best dog park in town! The river, woods and fields are all just heaven for our pup, and the dogs here are usually more sociable and less likely to form packs (perhaps because there are so many different spaces and trails to walk). Would only be improved by a dog fountain to keep the pups from drinking river water.
My favorite off leash park in Winnipeg. Situated on a peninsula, once past the open field you don't need to worry about your pup running off. Home to a chain link puppy play area this park is run by a volunteer board that has a spring clean up and membership drive. One of our favorite green spaces in Winnipeg.
I love this off leash park. Improving annually with pĺanting more trees, adding more beautiful donated benches, bags available allover if needed, well maintained & friendly people & beautiful dogs of all ages & breeds. There is also a Fantastic Maple Grove Dog Park Association of wonderful volunteers!
Beautiful, well maintained park. My boy, Sugi, loved walking here and meeting loads of other friendly dogs.
Dog-friendliness
While this is an off leash park, if you're dog is still learning to be off leash and struggles with recall, you should be aware that not all sides are fenced in.
I enjoy taking my dog to Maple Grove because there are always people there. He's always excited to play with the pups there and I enjoy that I can also have a workout by walking the loops or trails through the forest. Just be aware that there are no lights in winter so it is pitch black!
This is one of my favourite dog parks. It's a bit of a drive to get there but it's worth it. Lots of friendly folks with their dogs. Scenic walk in every season. Water does get very high sometimes. Expect your dog to get wet and mucky! They also have a fenced-in area for puppies.
Great dog park. 2 enclosed areas. 1 for puppies. Lots of open trails and fields. Enclosed physically by the river. Lots of water dishes.....lost and found....extra poo bags and such. Never seen a park with so many little amenities.
Always a great place to bring the doggo. As a bonus, it is a great location to take photos of the dog in action. If your dog love the water as much as mine, you maybe hard pressed to keep them out of the river.
Frank, my lab, and I loved taking a stroll through the trails .. people were so friendly and had great interactions with other dog owners.. got to meet other cool breeds of dogs .. so great .. off leash park ..
Very well planned, lots of trees, trails, also has an enclosure in the middle of the park so you can let dogs run freely. Especially good for puppies who are young and don't respond well to their name yet.
A spacious land in a quiet environment, I have been here two or three times, and it was always rainy, so that I couldn't take good pictures. But this place is a suitable place for photographs.
Great park for barking fur friends. Good place to meet other dog owners, get your dog to run, burn that wild energy and make friends. Like that there’s a fenced area for safe playing
Went for the first time in probably 10 years. I love that the area is mostly fenced now with lots of trails. I would love to see some trail maps throughout.
Maple Grove Off Leash Dog Park is a great place to bring your dog for socialization and exercise. There is an enclosed puppy pen and it is fully fenced.
Nice open park. Attended here for my daughter's beach volleyball league. Roads up to the rugby field / beach volleyball courts had some deep bumps.
So many fun things for my dog to do not only are the dogs amazing but we’ve met some really nice people!! Highly recommend going to this dog park!!
The best of the city off-leash dog parks. Little Mountain Park on the north side of the city is comparable if you are nearer to it.
Nice big dog park. Totally different from any I have been in the way it is layed out. It's mostly
Great place to run, sniff, and meet new furry friends. The separate puppy area is a great plus.
