It started out ok, with a seat at the bar with a friendly, (at first), bartender. The broccoli soup was delicious, as was the steak sandwich which was the daily special. Getting enough mayo was a challenge with two measly packets, followed by one add'l when I asked for more. When it got busier, it went downhill. Half the bar is in one room, the other half in another room, so the bartender has to pass through the connection in the middle to handle both sides so he'd disappear for a while. I wanted to take two desserts to go, and I asked how different the Irish Cream Cheesecake was to which he responded, "Well, it's made with Irish Cream so...". I asked about the bread pudding and he said both were good so I ordered one of each to go. It was like I was bothering him by asking two simple questions. Fifteen minutes later, I got it, with another almost ten minutes to check out, only to realize getting in the car that one of them had ice cream that was melting because it was wrapped in plastic wrap with the bead pudding that was heated up! It barely made it to my hotel. Not even a heads-up and the menu doesn't indicate that it comes with ice cream. The cheesecake was so-so, but the bread pudding was literally inedible. It was made with apple slices, had zero flavor, and the oddest texture. I got half a bite through it and it was spit out and tossed in the garbage. I ate a couple of bites of the cheesecake but it went the way of the bread pudding, and at $12-15 per dessert. The steak sandwich didn't cost much more than the dessert and was delicious. Stick with the regular food, but definitely skip dessert.

This is the only restaurant my husband and I would consider ourselves ‘regulars’. To start, the staff is absolutely fantastic - Scotty, Brigid, Mike, Miss Kathy (Go Birds!), Luke - are all incredibly kind and excellent servers/hosts. This place is consistently packed and they go above and beyond to be sure you have everything you could need or want even when they are very busy. I should mention that my husband is from Co. Donegal in Ireland, so as far as authenticity goes it meets the Irish standard for a pub/restaurant in the US. The food is consistently excellent and as my husband says “it’s the closest taste to home in Nashville” and “the only place you’ll get a proper cup of tea.” Our favorites are the fish and chips and the Irish breakfast on the weekends. The best live music is in the main dining room on Wednesday evenings with The Sternwheelers and on Friday/Saturday nights with Sean McNamara (the owner) and Nosey Flynn. If you want a more dive-y atmosphere, the upstairs lounge is for you with full service and several nights of live music also. This place is very family friendly and you can tell with the consistency of the staff and patrons. We love McNamara’s and highly recommend for an Irish pub experience!

Very happy, we will be coming back. We started with the boxty (a small bite sized potato pancake) and spinach artichoke dip, we would recommend this appetizer to everyone. We got the bangers and mash and the steak and Guinness pie. Both were really great, although I felt the stew would be better off as a more savery flavor than the sweet it seemed to be. With tip and soft drinks we spent in the range of $50-60. There was a children's menu and live music on the bar side. They have advertised an upstairs portion along the lines of "Nashville as it used to be", we didn't go up so I can't speak on that. On the areas we went to it was apparent the amount of work that went into seasonal decoration and the more permanent decor made you feel like you weren't in an another American bar with an Irish theme, it seemed far more homey and traditional. Bathrooms were clean.

The atmosphere at McNamara's is what I imagine an Irish restaurant and pub might be like. Unfortunately I've never experienced a real pub in Ireland, so I truly cannot compare. The service here is fantastic and the music is authentic. The Guinness on tap is worth it alone. If you like Killian's, they have that in a bottle. The food is good, nothing I couldn't make at home though. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the Scotch eggs here used to have more sausage and be bigger. Overall, I always have a good dining experience here, get here by 5 though or you will be waiting quite a while on the weekends.

I'm soooooo sad to post this. I LOVE this place ...raved about it for years to EVERYONE! It was our special occasion, anniversary & birthday spot. Today, on my takeout order of sheperds pie was sooo disappointing. There was a weird taste in one spot that reminded me of a chemical taste or maybe a freezer burn, i couldn't eat it. Both of our pies leaned super heavy on the mashed potato top...like 80% or more mashed potatoes & only a thin layer of meat. At $18 each, this just isn't ok. Eating out & especially here is a treat....this was my favorite dish (even if it is a cottage pie, not a traditional shepherds pie), I still loved it. Sad to say, it'll be a while before I'm ready to try again...I don't want our special treat to be overshadowed with pour food. somebody, please tell me this isn't the new normal for the food here. We also got the Scotch Eggs & I swear there used to be more sausage....not just a suuuuper thin layer....

I have been here multiple times but forgot to post a review. Took a lady friend I have been talking to here for our first date. She was blown away and even said it was her favorite all time first date. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Even though she wasn't an Irish whiskey or beer drinker, their open bar let her get her favorite drink. We ordered right before the band set up and food was ready right on time for the show. Nosey Flynn is amazing!!! They even have a few songs on YouTube (they need more!!). Overall, this is probably one of my favorite places to visit in the Nashville area! I give it a 10 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a surprise! I've eaten at Irish pubs across the US from NY to Colorado. This was by far my favorite. Great atmosphere, suburb customer service from Bill, my bartender. I've had the salmon on my first visit and the fish and chips on my second visit. I can't give enough stars. If you are looking for a laid-back local environment with amazing food, this is your spot to go. I had a second to meet the manager, which was a great experience. Everything was fresh and made to order. You can not go wrong; Saint Paddy's Day will be busy, so get there early!

We went to celebrate a birthday. We arrived shortly before 3 and they gave us a lunch menu. By the time our waiter got our drinks and came to take our order, it was after 3. We had selected what to order from the lunch menu, but he said it was after 3 and couldn't order from the lunch menu. The food was ok. I ordered the Shepherd's pie. It had a good flavor, but I like a little moisture in the meat. It was dry, as if the meat was seasoned, cooked, drained, put in the bowl, covered with the vegetables, mashed potatoes and baked. The Steak and Guinness pie was a little expensive for it's portion size. The Fish and chips had a little too breading.

First time here and I am.planing to comeback. Had dinner with my 2 best friends, I ordered the fish and chips and they order Salmon. The food was superb, delicious, and outstanding, we also had soup and shared the Baileys Irish cheesecake and OMG, the cheesecake was to die for. Our waitress, was polite and attentive, what a great service, we don't see that kind of service often. This place is fantastic, the music, the atmosfere, the food and service, I give this place 100/100 rate.

Our first trip to McNamara’s was great! My fiancé surprised me with a trip to this Irish pub for a birthday dinner and we had a great time. The restaurant was bustling with people and music and was a lively environment. Potato soup: it was okay, but we would not get again Fish and Chips: we loved these! The breading was great and it wasn’t super greasy! The steak fries were a great side Irish Stew: Irish stew, let alone good Irish stew, is hard to find…. This stuff was great and both our favorite. If you come, make sure to get some!

Always wonderful. Went for lunch on a weekday. Great food, quick service. The place was clean and staff was friendly. Food came in a reasonable time frame and was excellent. I had the 1/2 Reuben sandwich with a cup of potato soup. My friend had the salmon and fries. Both fantastic with flavor. Crispy where it should be, creamy in just the right places and savory throughout. It's our go to, for catching up with friends.

I have been to Irish Pubs worldwide. This is the BEST Irish pub EVER! GREAT food, OUTSTANDING service! The instant you walk in, you know you're at a proper Irish Pub. Did I mention their food? Try the Shepard's Pie, the Corned Beef bites, and the Fish & Chips. If you're looking for a proper Irish restaurant and pub, look no further.

This place came recommended by some friends and it’s definitely worth giving it a try for a solid Irish pub. We sat upstairs since their was a longer wait near the live music downstairs. Still had a good atmosphere and quality service. We tried the fish and chips and the Reuben sandwich, both are great choices you have to try. Highly recommended!

McNamara's is a very authentic Irish pub. The music and atmosphere is very fun. The proprietor leads the band with all the Irish classics and a few others to keep it his own. The food is okay, my burger was good but lacking in seasoning. I found our boxty to be crispy and delicious but the artichoke dip for it was definitely a sysco special and not house made. I hope all the best for the future of the pub but hope they can make some changes in the kitchen.

In town the first week of August and wanted a change from Broadway. Looked up Pubs in the area and from the reviews and photos, we knew to come here. Ate supper and made our way to the bar for a couple drinks and listen to The Sternwheelers. Owner was courteous and even struck up a conversation. Food was excellent and the Guinness was poured properly. Definitely will visit again when in the area.

This place is by far the best, most legitimate Irish pub you could go to on this side of the Atlantic. The food and service are tops; the adult beverages and whiskeys are unending. The owner is totally customer driven, even to being the principal musician for his Irish trio. I make the time to go/eat here every time I'm in Nashville. You should too.

The food was ahhhhmazing. Traditional cooking, flavorful…you’ll need to get creative to light your table to see the menu (that was part of the fun…one table put a phone flashlight upside down in a glass and created a beautiful aura). This is such an awesome restaurant! When we drove by, it looked pretty busy, but gave it at try anyways. Luckily, the building is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside and we were able to be seated right away. The menu is pretty comprehensive with a great selection of Irish dishes. Everything was amazing and we were so stuffed by the time we left! If we’re in the area again, we will surely stop by!

This place was nice. I had tried to take my mother here before on a Saturday night and that was a bit hectic for her. We tried Thursday lunch time. The atmosphere was pleasant.
