This location has the worst customer services and one of the factors that contributes to the poor customer services is the majority of the guys that assist the stylists can’t undetstand or speak English that well. Second major issue in regards to the poor customer services is management/owner for this location. He seems to respond and work better with the round about customers than someone who speaks to him in a professional manner. I have tolerate this because I support Queen and only her at this location . I would like to eloborate my concerns with Mena because your brother shouldn’t be allowed to use your name, if he’s going to respond to a customer like he’s a kid instead of an adult. Thirdly..,,,,,Customer services as far as price and quality is not matching up in the shampoo area. If I am going to pay $50.00 for shampoo and blow dry , I should be able to get non sulfate shampoo , since how the price point is based on natural hair. I understand there’s an up charge for certain products, but there should be a shampoo and conditioner for natural hair only. Also, if my hair is manageable and being services on a regular basis, what I am paying extra for when you want to use the shampoo and conditioner that use on perm hair. Owner response was ignorant because you don’t know what I do for a living or what’s my background in the hair industry. SMH!

So I went to this location because my talented stylist works there. I planned on getting a crochet hair style. I have combination 4a-4c hair (mostly 4c), she prefers my hair be blow dryed straight. I eventually complied. This seemed to be a problem. The guy around the front desk and the assumed assigned blow dryer were talking to each other, in their primary language, and looking at me, the assumed blow dryer with disdain. Once the assigned blow dryer was done with his current customer. He stood over me looking down at my hand which held my wallet, phone, and service ticket. He didn't say anything so I asked him what he needed. He didn't say anything and snatched the ticket from my hand! Still saying nothing he gave it back. He is able to speak English I heard him. I walked over to my stylist and told her what had just happened and told her I was leaving. I did hear someone saying excuse me as I walked to my stylist but I was done. I was not going to allow this man to snatch around in my head. I'm a nurse, I know how customers should be treated and there is no way I would then or ever patronize this business.

I have been getting my hair done at Mena’s for years, only at this location on 95th. What I witnessed was unprofessional. A woman brought her daughter in whom appeared to be a teenager, and had the stylist cut her some bangs. The woman was thankful and tipped a $5 tip, in their native language they laughed and passed this &5 around as if it wasn’t good enough. Any tip in this economy should be welcomed given the state of our country. The service is already expensive I often spend a $100 just have my hair pressed with a hot oil treatment, deep conditioner and trim. Many things were wrong in this establishment with women threatening to walk out because staff are taking smoke breaks in the middle of blow drying them-wrong! I don’t think I can spend money with people who treat black women like this. Let be honest we keep this business in business.

I went only to get a wash and set!!!? I only wanted a wash and set I’m not sure if they figure we can just wash hair with out conditioner lol cause I never said I wanted deep conditioning or hot oil treatment. I was clearly offer what I did not ask for. On top of that I’m a black women and we like shine to our hair. I never had no one cruel my hair with out any type of product for 70$ Im pretty sure my hair want last by tonight and it’s now 5:48pm my hair is half way how I want it he told me 65$ then 70$ cause I’m using my card I’m not sure if I’m going back. The service was ok the guys were very nice but my biggest issue was the add on For more money and nothing to welcome me as a first time client!!!!!!!

They don’t do 4C hair. I went in today to get my hair washed & blow-dry, and I walked out with oil dripping down my face like sweat. The guy at the front desk offered me a hot oil treatment, and I took it. When she was doing the hot oil treatment, she acted like she didn’t want to touch my hair. She didn’t put any oil on my scalp or heat the oil up. They left me under the dryer for an hour because nobody wanted to do my hair & once I got up to leave, they offered to wash it. In they made me pay $15 for some oil that won’t come out. I wouldn’t recommend it for people with 4C hair. They only do thin hair.

I have been coming to Mena’s Hair Design since I was a little girl. The community of the salon is always so peaceful and welcoming. Emad has been taking care of my hair for over 15 years and I couldn’t have asked for a better stylist. I have long hair so although it does take a little longer than usual for my hair to be done, they never give me anything other than perfect. When I turned 16, I halfway dyed my hair red and I loved it. I loved it so much I dyed my whole head red. Your hair is really taken care of when you come to Mena’s, as they work to create happy and healthy hair care.

I will never come here again this is my second time being disappointed. I came in today and paid for a wash and set. My hair is so greasy and stringy. It literally has no bounce to it. I told the manager it was super oily and stiff. He told me the next time I come back he would take care of me. I asked him why would I come back to a place That can’t wash and blow dry properly? He told me I probably had something in my hair before they washed it. Make no sense, and to top it off I would at least appreciated my scalp not being so dry being that they oiled my hair.

Terrible! Hair care is not of any importance to them. You will literally watch your hair melt onto a brush and then off your scalp during the blow dry process. Beware! Your hair will smell like smoke for months. If you have ever smelled burnt hair, then that is their specialty. You will never be the same after your visit. Your Will regret it. Go to a quick place like hair cuttery in-between your normal Stylist. Most people go to Mena's because it is convenient and quick. Find a reputable place and take this business out of your saved list. Save yourself frfr.

Beware!!! They try to take advantage of teenagers. My little sister needed her hair done for homecoming, so she called and told them her hair type (natural), and they informed her a wash and style would be $40. After she had her hair done, I asked the price and they told her it would $75, which is outrageous!! It took them 3hrs to do a wash and style on short hair and they only bumped her hair!! I will never return!! It's sad, that they would misrepresent themselves in that way. And do not go to Emad, he is subpar, especially if you have natural hair.

Mena's is a good Salon because their open 7 days a week. They are pretty slow but do a pretty good job straightening hair no matter the texture. But the downside is almost all of their clientele is African American and they only really speak their language which i think is Arabic so they point alot to direct the client to their seat because have the time you dont understand what they are saying. They are also chatting up one another throughout the salon never really enter acting with their client.

I've gotten my daughter's in myself hair done here in it was Great! A lil expensive tho ...overall we liked outcome of hair ....HOWEVER I just was there about two days ago ... after getting my hair done I tryed out the lady in there to apply lashes (strip) man do I regret that..She definitely didn't know what she was doing ... 1 of my lashes was pointing to the sky the other to the ground.. it's so much glue on it and they hurt ... I really think I should get a refund ...this was not worth $30...

Only 4 stars. Would have gotten 5 but charged me and extra $5 & didn't bother to tell me what it was for. My hair was washed, blow-dried and curled but curls fall fast bcus they don't use hairspray only hair sheen. The good news is, my hair feels & looks amazing. They use good products and get u in and out in a timely manner. Jacoub was my hair stylist but I looked at other styles in there and they are all good. Hope this helps. They get your hair straight but I’ve visited twice and every time I come back with heat damage. My definition of heat damage is my hair isn’t going back to it’s original curl. It stays straight. And all I got was my hair washed and blown out and flat-ironed nothing extra. No deep conditioning or trim and they charged me an extra $5 and couldn’t tell me why. Their price said $45 but I paid $50. That’s something small but if your going to charge extra make sure you say why.

PSA to all black women considering going to Mena’s for hair services: DON’T DO IT!!!! They are not in the business of black hair care, they only know how to make your hair look good. If they don’t rip out your hair and thin your ends while blow drying it, they surely will destroy it during the straightening process. They should rebrand from Mena’s Hair Design to Mena’s Heat Damage. Find a black hairstylist who is well versed in caring for your specific hair type.

I am from TN I have family that live in Chicago I am natural. A family member refer me she is also naturaI and has beautiful healthy hair, looking at her hair I figured I was safe to go.....wanted to get a silk press ....my hair smelled burnt as soon as I walked out of the salon and has been falling out since....I too checked reviews and I'm extremely sad and will have to start COMPLETELY OVER.. location on 95th street

Took my daughter to Hanny. First time there and for the most part I was satisfied with the results. I was however unhappy with him doing extra things (deep conditioning) and he "trimmed " her ends and charged me for a "haircut". I spent Wayyyyy more than expected but was overall happy with the results. If you go I would recommend asking the price before they do "additional" services

If I could I wouldn’t have given them any stars! When I went here I got a deep conditioner, blow dry and trim After leaving here my hair was severely damaged. For the past couple of a weeks, my hair has been falling out by a hand full and I never had this problem before. My hair won’t even get it’s natural curl back. Please be careful when going here ladies.

So yea I’m currently 3cm dilated But my boy had to make sure I was beautiFye before this li kicker makes its entrance. Besides that from my big chop, coloring and back yo growing my hair he the best I come once a month to him cause my hair be hairing lol even in Mother Nature( meaning it Be lasting. Curls be gone but it still be straight .ask for Emad.

This is the best location hands down!!!! The whole staff is very nice and make sure they take good care of your hair! I go to Emad he always make sure he does my hair perfect ! Hannah “Hanny” does an awesome job with coloring and styling hair. He fast and sufficient and I always get good results on my hair when he does it. Zeeko is the best seriously! He’s helped me alllll the way through my natural hair journey and it’s been great! My hair is always really beautiful when I leave! I came here for a kids silk press with deep condition for my 8 y.o daughter. She has super thick super long hair and they did a great job. She is very tender headed so it was a struggle but the execution was flawless. The team was very friendly and patient. The salon is clean and spacious.

1. Hair did not last or hold 24 hours. 2. Coloring was awful and messy..there was hair color still left around edges ..ears..nape of neck ..etc 3. Tried to upcharge coloring services. Initially told me it would be $70 for basic black. 4. It just was not worth over a $100 for the service.

The staff at this location appears to be friendly and polite. They make every attempt from what I've seen not to make any of the customers feel uncomfortable with males doing their hair. They are fast in getting the customers in and out. The fashions by which they do hair are beautiful.

I came in shop in rush to get to an event. I told the guy at register how quickly can I get done. I was out in about an hour and half wth gorgeous hair. Joe was my stylist that day. Thank you wth tons of compliments that are still coming did days later. My hair is still flawless.

I went back to get a cellophane treatment and I waited a week then washed my hair now it’s ruined my natural hair curl pattern that took me 5 years to grow and it’s falling out and breaking off!!! Flat ironed my hair in the same spots with multiple passes I should have known !

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Definitely not worth 65 dollars. Took my daughter for a wash press and trim. Her press didn't last 3 hours. Those men have no idea what they're doing. Also was extremely rough had to tell the stylist to be a little gentle.

Reasonable price regardless of length and texture. Hair came out soft and slinky, and contrary to what people like to say...no burnt hair. Very relaxing atmosphere. Sometimes my husband wait for me. About an hour and half or less to complete your hair.

Don't listen. Money hungry. I wanted my hair just rinse of deep conditioner ( I shampooed & detangled prior ) and blow dryed and was quoted $55. Tell me why they proceed to shampoo ask for a deep conditioner, hot oil treatment, and press.. Never again

My hair is long and natural. I went for a wash and blow dry last Friday and they used so much heat they burned my hair! You could smell it for days after! It’s falling out non stop and is badly damaged! Stylist name was Kevin! Do NOT go there!

I would say my experience was just alright. I needed a quick hair trim and they had a stylist available. I guess my only problem was that he pulled my hair quite a bit and basically didn't talk at all, however my haircut turned out fine.

I didn't like the way he did my daughter hair went for her hair to get done for pictures and before she took her pictures hair was puffy! Now how i know i took her to another shop that does the same kind of hair lasts a lot longer

I wish they listened to how you want it styled more. Every time they style it how THEY want it or envision it and i have to force them to change it. And i have to make them use additional moisture barriers or heat protectant.

It was my first experience having a man do my hair and Kevin done a great job. It just doesn't hold long on my natural hair. It cost $100 for deep conditioning. Hot oil treatment, ends trimmed and Wash & Set.

Menas on 95th is amazing! I’ve been going to Emad since 6th grade and I’m now 22 and I have no issues at all. He’s amazing and really takes of me ! He’s the only one I let touch my natural hair. Thank you !
