This lovely "hard working" woman collected & restored Barcelona tiles from the street bins & old building floors. Just the thought of these beautiful tiles to be thrown away in the dumpster or landfill. It took Benedicte to understand what to do, & how to reform these important pieces of Barcelona history. Benedicte realized with hard work & lots of muscle, she could create something unique & practical, yet so beautiful & irresistible, such as these tables & trivets. We immediately fell in love with her idea & the end products. It was hard to choose, but we bought not 1, but 2 tiled tables! We love them & enjoy them every day in our apartment. Mesa Bonita is a gem - recovered and lovingly-restored original tiles from Barcelona's beautiful buildings - an amazing way to literally take a "piece" of Barcelona's history home with you! We found Benedicte shortly before we moved back home after living in Barca for 2 years - it made me so happy to discover her work and have such a unique and original piece of art to remember our time in Barcelona. She has pieces large and small that make wonderful gifts (hot plates, framed tiles) or larger pieces (tables) that will add unique beauty in any home. Highly recommend! Benedicte is a true artisan, with a passion for finding, cleaning and re-using the ravishingly lovely tiles from historic Barcelona buildings. Sadly, too many of these beautiful ceramic tiles are being dumped into landfill thanks to modern building and changing tastes. I am absolutely delighted with my hall table, which was custom made and designed to fit into a small space perfectly. There are metal drawers fitted below the tiled top, so it is practical as well as very cool!
