I decided to go here a little while ago for a comforting environment to study in. I found exactly that in the excellent service and atmosphere provided by the baristas here. Whenever I'm feeling adventurous, Olivia & Ondraya have me covered with solid suggestions. Olivia seems to thrive with creative freedom, as I've tried many drinks/pastries she composed that I've been pleasantly surprised by at the very least. Ondraya has a warm, inviting demeanor and personality that truly helps the coffee shop shine. She's truly attentive to customer concerns and requests as well. Myah has a great memory of her customers. She's great at making me feel valued, as she's attentive to preferences and recalling previous conversation. Marlee is always pleasant, and does a great job of managing her work alongside waiting customers. Joaquin is consistent and he has looked out for me. He's a little goofy sometimes and I enjoy that. Dave has hired for and cultivated an interesting, unique establishment that he clearly has a passion for. I'd especially recommend this coffeehouse to anyone with an artistic passion or interest in antiques. The variety of drinks here is good, it may just take some time to find something you really vibe with if you're picky like me. The pastries change often and there's usually something interesting/new for me to try. The food is reliable and solid for the price. I'm fond of the Dirty Banana & Monty Cristo, I'd recommend giving those a try! Overall, I've had a great experience here and encourage anyone adventurous in particular to give it a go!

Came in this morning for iced coffee and some empanadas. The signs said that it would take about 10 minutes for the empanadas. After 15 minutes I inquired with staff about when the empanadas would be done and was informed it would just be a few more minutes. After 40 minutes I inquired again, and was told again that it would be just a few more minutes. They offered a refund, but I just wanted the food. The empanadas were ready about an hour after I ordered them. Staff were apologetic, but I was disappointed by how long it took. Not sure why it took so long, I think the staff weren't communicating with each other about the orders. The coffee shop was not very busy. About 5 people got served in the hour between when I ordered my food and when it was ready. Overall I wasn't pleased by the experience and really wish there were other coffee shops in the area. The shop itself is cute and inviting, coffee was decent and the food was good when it finally was done. Really disappointed by staff communication and the overall service level. Wouldn't recommend going here if you are looking for a quick bite with some coffee.

Horrible experience! The ladies behind the counter were very nice and took my order perfectly. However, it took 12 minutes to get a Carmel latte which in my opinion is way to long. But the worst part out of all this was some gentleman that was an employee. I was on a phone call and saw an empty room so I took three steps inside so I can not bother the other people with me call. By my third step into the room this young guy who looked high and can barely walk rudely said that the gallery is closed. I responded with just saying “oh, sorry my bad” started to walk out of the room and he then said in a rude manner “read the sign” and pointed at a small sign in the corner of the upper door frame that said “Gallery closed” not sure why they decided to put it there and not in the middle of the door frame. I just ignored him as he went out slide to smoke and waited for my latte. I don’t mind waiting a long time for a coffee even though this was a very long wait but I will not be spoken to in such rude manner. I will not be going back there ever again.

Drinks were really good and the girl up front was really sweet and made good recommendations. I’m taking three stars off for Joaquin’s behavior which was not appropriate or acceptable. When the barista handed him the ticket with our food on it, and tried to let him know about a modification we made, he snapped at her, saying “I can read”. Then he made our order wrong. When she let him know that he made it wrong I could hear him yelling at her in the back. She ended up going back there and fixing the order. Throughout the 20 minutes I was there I could hear him being rude to her unnecessarily over and over again. She had to work twice as hard to correct his mistakes and make food while also making drinks and taking orders. I don’t care what the situation was, that behavior is not okay. An older man who presumably was the owner was there and seemed to be okay with this behavior also. Not sure what’s going on here but I will not be supporting this business again as long as Joaquin is there.

I walked in the girls were dancing to a song we walked up to the counter and they gave us nasty looks like we were interrupting something important. Their customer service is terrible they acted like they didn’t want to help us and that’s not the best part; me and my aunt ordered a Matcha and Pistachio Frappe and they had NO FLAVOR. We asked if they could add some sweetener the girl grabbed the vanilla syrup and poured some in my aunts cup and doesn’t try to mix it or anything just expects us to use their cheap straw to mix it. My pistachio, I asked for sweetener and the kid who made our drinks Joaquin just throws the packets at us like wow your not gonna fix the drinks or at least mix it with the sweetener to boot mine was not blended right so there is tons of ice chunks definitely not worth the 5.75$ better off going to Starbucks.

The business has a great atmosphere, fair prices, and very friendly staff! However, my partner and I give this a 3 out of 5 for specific reasons that are listed below. My partner and I feel that the food here is okay. Our food was cooked properly yet it seemed a little bland. It is worth mentioning that they have nice options but the quality of food is average. Their coffee is average too. Not very flavorful but they have a variety of coffee and drinks to choose from. So if you're hungry and looking for a low-key breakfast with a good artistic atmosphere you'll enjoy this place. *Suggestions for improvement* There are some great elements to this place which make this a hidden gem. Although, the quality of the menu seems lacking. If they improved the ingredients and recipes on the menu, this place would truly shine.

Fantastic cafe with a Mexican flair. Had a fantastic Mexican Mocha, served by polite, attentive staff. Much of the decor (and all of the in-house gallery) is celebrating a march that was almost 20 years ago. What about the progress since? You’re in a clearly vibrant, Hispanic neighborhood. Celebrate it. Invite non-Hispanics to participate. Be proud of your heritage and culture. Don’t apologize for it. If I had to offer a critique… roll back the in-your-face Hispanic pride. It’s exclusive. Instead, celebrate hispanic/Mexican culture and the positive impacts it’s had on the overall American culture. Be inclusive. Great coffee. Didn’t need the lecture.

I do love this coffee shop. My husband and I have been coming for about a year. Great menu. Great local shop-- they also display local art, etc. My only complaint is that it's always understaffed and takes a long time to get your coffee (and especially food if you've ordered that). Great staff that is working hard but the last two times that we ordered food they forgot part of our order and we ended up waiting over half an hour to get it. Just a little frustrating, but great place overall with food and bev that's excellent quality.

This is a great place for breakfast and a beverage. The super porridge was awesome and the mate latte was great as well. Very accommodating for our group that has been there a few times before but I hadn't been able to make it. Live not to far from here but never tried it before.

I didn't really have food options due to dietary restrictions but did enjoy a nice fruit smoothie. My companion very much enjoyed his sandwich. The place is gorgeous. Full of fun and unique art and the atmosphere is super relaxed and also fun and airy. I look forward to going back and meeting up with friends.

Absolutely love this place. Beyond having good food and drinks the decor and spirit (for lack of a better word) are inviting, eccentric, and vibrant. It's a really great feeling to be able to support a local business that supports it's community. There are open mic nights every Wednesday. Meet ups for tango on Sundays and lots of other community events through out the week. Local artists have their pieces on display and for sale. Thanks for bringing our community a clean and inviting space. Oh also if I didn't make it clear, the drinks and food are amazing. The staff is warm and friendly.
Always a great experience at Mestizo! Always friendly, clean, & tasty. I love the atmosphere & decor. Worldly, Variant in Culture. They always have some sort of neat, eclectic, other-country, decently price souvenirs to buy. Excellent pastries, brownies, and they're mixed turkey on a toasted bagel -- is utterly marvelous! -- I used to add mayo and this and that..... but ain't nothing better than just the way it comes. Definitely go check out Mestizo Cafe. Nice People, Great Coffee, Good Times. Its worth the drive, or Trax ride. Green line Train to Airport, Guadalupe Bridge Stop.
Went to the coffee shop and coffee was good but when I was ordering my French toast I noticed at the end that one of the workers had put her mouth on the raspberry sauce container to open it. I walked out the door and the cashier had followed me trying to give me the the food and I explained to her that I didn't want any more because her mouth was on the opening. Atmosphere was great but don't plan on going back.

I had some porridge and a coffee from here, both were delicious. The line wasn't very long but there was only one employee working the counter when I visited which slowed things down a little. Great place to visit instead of Starbucks or anywhere else a corporation doesn't care about the quality of the drinks.

Found this little local coffee shop hidden as part of an apartment building, a little difficult to find, but definitely worth the effort. I appreciate the efforts they are making to taking temps & contact trace. The shop is peaceful & welcoming, the staff is super friendly as I expect at any coffee shop I go to. Price is about the same as most coffee shops, but the atmosphere (& it being a local business) would make it worth going even if they charged more.
I will never go back there again. I have never been treated with as much disrespect as if I was garbage in my life at any restaurant or coffee shop. I buy a pastry and sit down and one of the tables. And I pull out my pins and a picture I've been coloring for several weeks now. It's a little past 11 a.m. on a Monday morning as I look around there's Maybe three or four other people in this whole coffee shop and it's a good size coffee shop
Gorgeous interior, gotta love a coffee shop with poetry welcoming you inside. Dirty horchata is a revelation. I loved seeing the "Local Tesoros" wall -- as a guest to the city, it was nice to see the places that are loved by the folks who live here. Great coffee & a welcoming, community-minded atmosphere.

Some coffee was hit and miss, their cold London fog could use some work but their white mocha was pretty dang good. The thing though is that the guy in glasses with a man bun and facial hair was acting like I was doing him a favor by being there. I’d put a two star review if it hadn’t been for the nice girl who corrected his mistakes on the order later on.

I was finishing up a move and was outside most of the day and got really overheated and came in just to cool off and charge my phone, ended up getting an iced oatmilk latte that was delicious. They had a display case full of really tempting pastries too. Super cool vibe, friendly baristas and awesome artwork. Wish i had discovered this gem before moving out of state but I will definitely be coming back next time I visit!
The atmosphere, the staff, the coffee was all amazing. Dancing lessons in the back, an interactive map to tell others about local restaurants, and the barista that helped me make a custom coffee for my diet was so nice! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a lovely cafe experience.

Great coffee, awful customer service. This place is truly a gem in Rose Park but we will not be returning because of how bad we were treated on several different occasions. My husband wanted to place an order and the barista was very disrespectful and asked “what do you want?” Then she went straight from handling money to preparing coffee and orders with no gloves or without washing her hands. Super disappointing!
Mestizo has some really great unique coffee drinks and treats, I have been going here several times a week since I moved nearby and everything these lovely folks create is amazing! I recommend the pistachio frappe (caffeine free) and the iced white mocha! As for food, can't go wrong with the brownies and the Ranchero breakfast bagel!

I would have thought I had written a review already about Mestizo Coffee House. They're a good local coffee shop, and so far as I know the only one between downtown and the airport. They have a good selection of hot and cold drinks, but the real stars are the baked goods. They make them fresh daily and are sold for very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and happy to give recommendations.
These guys had to deal with grumpy teens and adults that needed coffee and were ready to go home. Our order is kind of weird but they didn't bat an eye The place is almost a whole in the wall but it's definitely a pretty cool place. We would 100% come back

Love the employees and drinks. The employees have personality and don't just come off as baristas pumping out coffee, but people who make good food and drinks and have fun doing it. They're a lot of fun to talk to and make it worth driving 4 miles from my house to grab a drink. Also, they have an awesome art gallery, and I've found some really cool local artists through Mestizo.
Good food and decent drinks. Severely understaffed today. My wife and I ordered a coffee, a smoothie, a pita sandwich and a cheese Danish. We got the drinks within five to ten minutes. Got the sandwich after about 10-15 minutes. We waited over an hour for the Danish that was waiting on a shelf, then disappeared when I got our drinks. I'll never be a patron of this shop again.
Stopped here before heading back to Idaho. Coffee was good and the food was delicious. I had a BLT wrap. My friend had turkey on a croissant. The gals working were friendly, laughing and having a good time. It was refreshing to see happy employees. I will definitely be back next time I am in Utah.

Nice little spot with some of everything. Sunday they have chess boards set up and tango lesson starting at noon. They make all kinds of sandwiches - monte Cristos (never seen them made like this) , chicken pestos etc and drinks - dirty banana, Italian sodas, Expresso. Staff is cordial and partons keep the vibe relaxed and welcoming.
Cool place ... We were the only customers & waffle took almost 30 mins to make ♂️. Wish they were honest & didn't lie when they had to remake the waffle. Coffee & white chocolate mocha & chai was really good. Wish they were more efficient with service ♂️.

Cute little coffee house that gave me the true Salt Lake City hipster vibe, and even had an open Mike night. This coffee venue was very quiet, and had plenty of places to chill or study with friends, or even as a solo outing. I ordered the Dirty Monkey (mocha with banana) and a BLT on croissant; they were both delicious!
The cook Joaquin was vocally annoyed that we ordered food and then just left the coffee shop after we had been waiting 20+ min for a simple sandwich. The cashier had to go find him and bring him back just to make our food. I do not think he would have bothered if we didn’t ask and track him down. Sandwich was decent.
It is a very cultural place (sometimes they have events like poetry) and it is a big coffee shop to have a cozy study evening. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because some of the staff aren't friendly not to generalize the entire team I do have my good experiences :) On the picture I have matcha frappe.
I love this little coffee shop. The service is always great. We live less than two blocks from Mestizo. Making it very convenient to just pop in when we take our service dog for a walk. The employees are friendly and accommodating.

I’ve recently been trying many coffee places around Salt Lake and this may be my favorite. The drinks are reasonably priced and taste really good, the atmosphere is very cool, good for any occasion like a date or meet up or doing work. It’s my new go-to spot and I highly recommend giving it a try.
This place has a lovely artsy atmosphere. The windows provide very warm lighting and there's plenty of space to sit and enjoy yourself, from couches to tables to a piano in an offshoot room. The staff was wonderfully friendly too! Even gave us some recommendations on what to see in the city.
I love Mestizo's authentic and robust coffee and teas, they have great breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Welcoming service plus it's a very chill place to hangout. Make sure to look around at all the local artwork when you stop in!

This place is a really good hangout and has excellent service, it's awesome to study in and is very relaxing to go to after a long day. Cups of coffee are delicious and pastries and meals are exquisite. Fun events on a calendar inside varying from open mics to meditation meet-ups
Mestizo coffee is the best coffee anywhere in the area! The staff are all awesome and kind. It's a great environment too! They have interesting art, and a cool lounge-type feel, and their drinks are the best! I recommend the Dirty Monkey! its a mocha latte, with banana flavor. :)
The best place for special coffee drinks and breakfast. The different beagles with eggs is a great portion. The prices are reasonable. You get amazing brownies and chocolate coffee treats with order. You can enjoy a enchanting environment with a gallery. Makes any day special!
A great coffee house, worth going out of your way for even. Their pastries are out of this world,!with a full vegan and wheat free selection farmed from different local bakers. Also, the only place I know where you can get a cup of joe in a mug for a buck! That’s right, $1.00
Very eclectic and inviting ambience and friendly service. Decent (not spectacular) coffee. The veggie sandwich was not good at all. Not only did I get a heel bread slice, but the fixings were just mediocre. I couldn't finish it. For the price, I'd hoped for a lot better.
I judge coffee shops by atmosphere and their ability to make a normal drip cup. The atmosphere is so interesting and artsy. It's a good place for groups! However a normal drip cup isn't the best and honestly tasted a bit sour. Other than that they have other good drinks.
It is a very cozy coffee House in a quaint part of town. Service was good. It's a hipster environment with good music playing in the background lots of art on the walls and unique sitting. I only gave it four stars because the lunch selection is not very extensive.
The owner of this business is a stalker, he harasses all the people who park there, threatening to tow their car if they are not buying from his business. I used to buy coffee there but unfortunately I will never really do it. This makes the place uncomfortable.
This is my absolute favorite coffee shop in SLC. Their bagels are on point and their chais are amazing. They make everything fresh right there for ya, and their cafe doubles as an art gallery, so you can browse the art while you wait or while you eat.
We loved it! The coffee was amazing. My pesto turkey panini was delicious. The service was very good, and the owner came over to chat with us. I like that this place features local artists and has a clear vibe and style that’s not cookie-cutter. More

I've been visiting in Salt Lake for just over a week and I've stopped here three times, when normally I'd try a new place everyday. Everything I've ordered has been great; I really recommend their "red hot white" which is a white mocha made
One of the only coffee shops west of I-15 and it's one of the best. Period. Great menu of teas, coffee, smoothies and more. Try the Mad Delight, Mexican mocha, or a smoothie. Their food menu isn't huge but everything they made is delicious
I found this gem on my way to airport hoping to spend some time enjoying their excellent coffee, nice homemade food and cool artistic décor. The food, atmosphere were just what we looked for, and i can recommend this place highly to anyone
Drinks are good, atmosphere is unique and comfy. Great decorations in both wall art and furniture. My only issue is that it gets pretty loud when drinks are being made and it's difficult to hear yourself talk unless you're in the back room.

Red Hot White’s are amazing! Love this place and the atmosphere! So perfect to just hang out or do some work and admire the beautiful art. Such few places like this in Utah. Makes me feel like I’m in a different state.
Ordered a blended "dirty monkey" and it was everything I ever wanted in a frappe. Not too sweet, not watery and the consistency held up - I didn't have to stir it to keep the ice distributed through the coffee …
A little disappointing. My sandwich was good but the coffee was horrible and they forgot the porridge I ordered. Also a place like this should use real plates and cups, not takeaway containers if you’re gonna eat in.
I like this coffee shop but the Wi-Fi sucks, and data is limited in the area too (Verizon), so not a great combo. I would study here far more often if I could actually use the internet.

Very cool vibe. Egg sandwiches were amazing with some of the biggest crunching pieces of bacon. Enjoyed the latte too. There was a cool treat on our latte. Great place to check out for coffee and a hang out.
I really like this cafe! It has a welcoming atmosphere and is well suited for writing and studying. The also have some of the best "coffee shop" food I've ever had! Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing!
If I could describe this place in two words, I would say it's magnificent and wonderful. More than a coffee shop. The preparations for Halloween are wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful
The worst coffee I ever tried. I ordered cappuccino to go, but it was sour with just a little drop of milk, it was impossible to drink. Had to throw it away. Very disappointed with this place.
The ladies working on Monday afternoon deserve a raise, so sweet and hard working, made us feel so welcome even though they were busy. Lovely coffee and amazing food, will definitely be back
