The service here was amazing, kind, and warming. As well as the interior and decor. When you walk in you are greeted with a lovely host and have the option to use the coat room… however, We went tonight for our anniversary after hearing good things. Our first dish was the tartar, it was a good start but the only good thing we ate there. Second, I had a sad excuse for a salad and he had the French onion soup which tasted like they boiled onions in beef broth and called it good. Getting to the worst part of our meal. We both got the boneless ribeye. Tasted like no salt was used to break down the fat, and trying to chew it only made it worse. There was no crust and the meat was dry. Another red flag was serving their steak with a side of literal steak juices in a gravy boat. I’m a firm believer that if your food is only edible with added sauce then don’t serve it. The sides; I had asparagus that came under cooked and bland, he had ordered “potato cakes” that turned out to Just be tasteless hash browns with sour cream on top. At the end we decided to try the crème brûlée, as simple as the desert is, it was served to us raw. Not just undercooked, but liquid raw. We paid about $390 and will not be going back, and for the sake of your wallets and pallets I suggest you don’t bother going either.

Our experience was exceptional, we had a great time. It was our first time, my husband and I, for my birthday. And they made it so refreshing and pleasant. Thanks to our waiters that we had, they were both awesome gentlemen and knew how to give quality customer service. So the food hands down, one of the best filet meons I've ever eaten thus far in my life so I look forward to life and trying to find 1 that would be better, because it was absolutely delicious. All the food, and I'm not an asparagus girl, but oh my goodness. It was some of the best asparagus I have eaten, and I was a little upset because the guy who Box my food he threw, or he ate my asparagus??. I guess? Because it wasn't in my box. LOL, so next time, I hope they don't do that. Other than that, they get 5 stars twice, hands down. Thank you, Metropolitan Grill, for making my birthday wonderful. I hate that I'm leaving a state, but when I come back, I will be back to visit.

For it to be a very classy restaurant. I saw quite a few children, and that was nice. And they were all well-mannered, and that was nicer.

Came here for my 34th birthday dinner while visiting Seattle on vacation, and it was SO GOOD! Firstly the service, Lathrop was our server and he was the man. Good recommendations, knew the menu forward and back, and also a Laker fan so he was 10 out of 10--ask for him if you can! Next, the food. I had the crab cocktail appetizer and it was amazing--so smooth, so fresh, and so tasty. My wife unfortunately has a shellfish allergy so she had the calamari appetizer instead. She enjoyed it, and then we moved to ordering mains and sides. We ordered The Met steak, which was more than enough for 2 people, in fact we had plenty leftover and ate it for breakfast the next morning! Big huge steak, cooked to perfection. We also had the asparagus, which was just OK, and the creamed corn which was pretty good. After all that naturally we were stuffed so we took the nine layer chocolate cake to go for munchies later that evening. But our server Lathrop wouldn't let me leave without also trying a free dessert on the house with a birthday candle for me, which was a creme brulee. I don't even usually like creme brulee, but this one was really good! All in all, this place was excellent and I highly recommend it.

Great restaurant excellent food and a very good staff but brought down by a poor final bill presentation. I highly recommend Todd as your server. He was great with our family making for an overall fun experience. This is one of the few steak houses I’ve been to around the country that still maintains an old school steakhouse charm. Lately a lot of the good steak houses have gone to a hip-hop club style model Where is less about the food and more about style. By the way I highly recommend the steak tartare in addition to any of the steak offerings. We have the prime filet and it was great. While the food and the service was top notch night culminated in a very negative experience when we received the bill with a very ambiguous 20% service charge. I’m happy to pay the service charge but the way this service charge was worded it implied that it would not be directly given as a gratuity to the server. This required us to add an additional 20% on top of the bill to make sure that we remitted our server properly for the great Seville. Shame on you Metropolitan Grill for the poor ambiguous wording on the service charge and leaving us with a negative experience to what had been a great experience. See the photo below.

The steaks seemed to be of much lower quality in years past. The timing of the food was off. Steaks delivered when we just barely got our appetizers and they missed our salads. The steaks were overcooked and when we got the replacements they were over seasoned and then one was undercooked. Everything about this place has become so disappointing. On two different visits the service was mediocre verging on poor, the food was TERRIBLE but the management team seems to be leading the charge on the disappointments. We’ve had years of wonderful meals at the Met so we can deal with an off night (or even two or three). And I understand most everywhere is understaffed so I don’t have the highest expectations anywhere anymore. But I reached out to the management staff (twice thinking maybe my first email didn’t make it) to share and I didn’t even get a response. If the management doesn’t care I’m guessing this is the new norm.

Went on a Tuesday night at 6 pm. We had reservations made and were seated within 5 minutes. The servers, bussers, and host were busy, but it wasn't overwhelming. We took our 10 and 7 yo to dinner with us for the buy 2 get 2 deal. We ordered plenty of food. For starters, we had the crabcakes, clam chowder, lobster bisque, and field of greens salad. My husband, son, and I had the boneless ribeye. We also ordered a side of the 4 cheese mac and cheese. My daughter had the king salmon and replaced the asparagus with rice. We ate maybe a third of our food as we were saving room for dessert. For dessert, we ordered the 2 flambe desserts. The banana foster and applie pie flambe were amazing, as always. Our server and busser were attentive and very nice. Thanks again, Met for another lovely dinner.

Spent a lot of money to consistently receive undercooked food despite the waiter repeatedly having to take the food back to the kitchen to have it cooked longer. They sent out a rare salmon for a baby, which was ordered off the kid's menu. Despite the food being ordered from a kids menu, they still sent out undercooked fish. At least the manager and the waiter were kind and in agreement that the meat was undercooked. They took the salmon off the tab. The staff was very nice, and the service was great, but for some reason, the chefs kept sending us undercooked meat. Both my husband and I ordered medium steaks but they kept sending out rare steaks. The waiter took my steak back, and they cooked it for longer but when it came back out it was still rare. I didn't understand why this kept happening in such an expensive restaurant. You would think the chef would know how to cook Meats.

mediocre at best, over priced, meant for people taking clients to meals. Great if you’re expensing a meal but do NOT recommend if you’re going for good food or fun. tbh this is the first time a restaurant made the Eater recommended list and definitely did not deserve this. this is my third time giving metropolitan grill a chance and it’s increasingly worst each time. if you’re trying to impress clients this is a good place! Pros: - location - professional vibe - ok food CONS: - pricey - mediocre at best - bad compared to nearby local restaurants (ex. Shambles, le pichet, FlintCreek, BATEAU, CAPITAL GRILLE) caps for highly recommend as an alternative recommendations: pick a better restaurant if you have to come, split a combination steak with a friend, save money and don’t subject your palate to mediocrity photos: steak and creamed spinach seared ahi tuna wedge salad caesar salad steak tartare (worst steak tartar in seattle so far and i’ve tried at least 20)

  • Bomb W.

Food was good! Service was great! Except the bs. on the service charge part which we knew about it when we made a resevation online. The service charge normally applies on bigger party like 6+ which is continually change over the years. Now the server had a need to tell us to read and try to understand that this 20% service charge is not for the server but the company which in turn spread around and server would get almost like nothing? So you're expecting us to pay tip 20% on top of 20% service charge . If the company really care for your employees, you should pay them out of your profit not to keep your profit and give your employees raise(extraordinary benefits) by put the burden on your customers. Don't tell me you don't have much of the profit! Your side order of Mac and cheese is $14! Come on! Stop trying to nickel and dime your customers! Increase your food prices probably better than doing this s**t.

Went out for birthday dinner. This place was recommended by a lot of my clients, and I decided to try it out. Was not disappointed. they have Vallet parking right in front of the restaurant. We did not wait long to get seated, and the food was amazing. Our waiter was very on point and recommended really good drinks, food was amazing and hot when we got it delivered to our table. They have a big variety of wine, which is I love ❤️ we will defenetly be coming back .

Probably the worst steakhouse meal we have had. To start, service was horrible. Salads came very quickly then we waited a long time for the steaks. The salads were so disappointing, the wedge salad was a small bunch of iceberg with a few overcooked pieces of bacon. Horrible. One steak was ordered medium, it came rare. Very rare. Then they cooked it more but the fillet was ‘mushy’. No kidding. My rib eye was thin, and not to steakhouse flavor. My steak came with steak fries. A joke.. They were thrown on the plate, and cold. No doubt they were the frozen kind. Service was bad, never saw our server after the steaks were delivered. I would run not walk from going. This is not a steak house quality restaurant. Such a huge disappointment.

This dining experience is always 1st class on all levels. Atmosphere, Service and food quality. They have managed in this day and age to keep all of their standards High and most of the people working here have work here for literally decades which says something in itself. The service never suffers due to crowd size, they always make sure everything is done correctly as far as daily specials and describing each one, timing of the starters, wine selections suggestions, and main plate delivery timing and complete follow through afterward. The food quality has never disappointed over the last 20 years that I have visited both with family and business.

This place simply rocks. My boyfriend and I went last night for our one year anniversary and we were all smiles from start to finish. Every staff member we interacted with was so kind and warm, the service was just incredible. I don’t often eat steak and so I asked our server to kind of walk me through what would be a good option for me and he did just that without making me feel silly for not knowing a whole lot, which is something I really valued. The steaks we ordered were absolutely beautiful, we were borderline speechless for a good part of the meal! We already plan to come back whenever we can and are thankful for such a wonderful memory of our first anniversary!

Everything was great here but… the food. The food wasn’t bad by any means; however, it wasn’t top notch either. We went with their boneless ribeye. It’s supposedly with their proprietary dry-aged beef from eastern Washington. We weren’t impressed with it though. The staff also lowkey struggled with cutting it. The mac and cheese was very basic but that aligns with the Met’s classic upscale image. Definitely an one time thing for us. This was an expensive experience and the value just wasn’t there. I do want to give a shout-out to Lathrop for being a good server. He helped me fish my credit card that had slipped between the seat and wall.

Staff was very professional. The food and drinks came to the table very fast. We couldn't reserve a table because of availability for the time we were looking for. Although, we called and informed them that our 3rd person was a 7 yo and that we wanted to know if they could accommodate us. They did. For me it was not about the ribeye we shared but the history. So many old photos of Seattle, sports figures, movie stars, socialites, and famous people it is mind blowing. Check out the aged cuts of beef by the bar.

Came here for anniversary after found out Morton's was closed. The place has a swanky classic New York steakhouse vibe. Playing Frank Sinatra and similar. Appetizers were delicious: spicy shrimp & lobster bisque. The bisque did not have any lobster in it, which was disappointing. Porterhouse was cooked to Medium and great flavor. The sirloin side had far too many strains too my liking. The filet side was rather tiny, only 3-4 bites. The filet was undercooked and sent back. Once it came back, it was wonderful. Had a creme brulee for desert, classic. Service was excellent. Not sure we'd go back.

Not exactly sure why I haven't reviewed this place! Been coming here for years off and on! I used to love the happy hour here! So sad to find out they are no longer offering happy hour! Hopefully, they will bring it back! Is nice to have a happy hour place to hang out with friends, especially after a rough day at work! Service is still friendly as usual, yummy food and strong drinks still meet my expectations so no complaints there! The only objection is the surrounding area has gotten worsen due to the homeless issue but nothing much Metropolitan Grill can do! Price went up just like everywhere else and no happy hour so leaving this place with a happy tummy but a big dent in our wallets!

It was an ok place. I was personally expecting more. I use to go here a lot with my dad when I was a kid since his office was right across the street. My memory of it was better than what I recently experienced. Im not a food critic but I just felt like the steak I ordered was missing something. Currently my favorite steak places are Jaks grill on Sandpoint way and Daniels Broiler on lake Union. I feel like both of those places offer a more flavorful experience plus way easier to park at.

We had a fantastic meal at Metropolitan Grill in Seattle - it exceeded all expectations! We started with kusshi oysters, bone marrow and steak tartare before enjoying a Caesar salad. For the main course, we got the Japanese A5 filet flight which featured snow filet, ohmi filet and olive filet - all of which were simply grilled to perfection and so juicy and tender! The Domaine Charvin Chateauneuf du Pape was a great accompaniment and complemented the succulent steak nicely. We rounded off the meal with a delicious carrot cake and nine layer chocolate cake, followed by creme brûlée. We were both highly satisfied and happy after our delightful meal.

Wow... my 1st word. An absolutely 5 star experience when it came to drinks, food and most of all service! The steak was perfect and probably beats that famous steak house in Vegas. Dessert was so good that even though I was full I ate it all. And now that I am writing this I want more. I usually don't give 5 stars lightly as you all know, and if I could complain about one thing would of been the crowded entry way... but once you got in and to your area it was private and soothing with wonderful soft music in the background. I recommend anyone visiting Seattle.. if you want the best steak in town you must go here! Make a reservation ahead of time!

Excellent service as always, I was glad to celebrate my friend Dan birthday and bring my son to my old stomping grounds. I use to frequent here all the time when I lived here and couldn’t think of any other place to treat my friend! With the many famous people who have dined here you will see their from on the wall. Château Briand is my favorite. It’s the best cut meat and tender. You can never go wrong with that cut! Congratulations on your 40th year Anniversary! Thank you for having us!

Simply an amazing dining experience! The service was 5 star from the moment we walked in the doors. It's like stepping back in time with green velvet, timber and brass decor. Jazz music playing in the background. I had the Lobster Tail and my partner had the Black Hawk Strip steak. Both were amazing. My Cosmo was made with perfection also. Not sure how people afford to eat here, but I do love the food and the service. It's a great "old school"feel steak house, but I'm wondering if they are in competition with Daniels Broiler to see who can get the highest priced food in the city!!! 85$ for a 8 oz filet on a plate.... Really? Then throw in taxes, tip, these ridiculous "living wage" and other fees and it practically doubled the price of the meal. Sorry not coming back until home interest rates are under 3% gas is under $3 a gallon and college tuition goes down, not up "old school" style.

Excellent service by Aaron and a true old school steak house experience. The oysters were fresh, steak tartare was flavorful and the steaks themselves were super "beefy" for lack of a better term. Cocktails are classic! Our only issue were the small children running around yelling, obviously the parents fault but I should think the management would have a word with them or move them to a private room so other diners could enjoy their expensive meal as expected.

Walked into the 1890s classic decoration is perfect after the underground tour. Steak, asparagus and baked potato are perfect, The waiter notified us that the meat will be on the raw side so I know what to expect. Our server was incredible, attentive yet not obnoxious, with a layer of humor. She was extremely knowledgeable of the different types of wagyu and impressive wine and drink menu. We were a bit underwhelmed when the food actually arrived. The reputation of this place seemed to far exceed most other fine dining restaurants we’ve been to, however fell short of meeting our expectations especially compared to other wagyu we’ve tried. Fantastic American steakhouse. The menu wasn't too simple or too packed. The steaks were delicious, and I've never seen a baked potato that big. If you want to wow an out of town guest or have a nice date, this is a great place to dine. Delicious meal on our last night of vacation. Our server was great and very interactive and definitely made us feel at home. Our meals were delicious. We added the shrimp scami and crab leg to each out our meals...they were good but not worth the price IMO. Dessert(burnt cream) was outstanding. We had every side, but I started with the wedge salad. Shut the front door!! Such a well executed classic. You can imagine what I thought of the steaks if I feel that way about the dann wedge salad!! The wine menu is pretty much a novel. Absolutely incredible selection. The steak I ordered was probably the best steak I have ever had. The service here is impeccable and the staff make sure you are comfortable and go above and beyond for you. It is expensive here, but it is the perfect restaurant to go to on your anniversary, birthday, graduation, or anything other event worth going out to celebrate for!

Hands down one the best steakhouses I’ve been to. I’m particular about my steakhouses and they exceeded my expectations. I loved the fact that they offer a selection of steaks instead of sticking to one offering. Highly recommended!

Great old classic place that I haven't been to in decades. It's still nice, though it has that aged fancy place feel. Order your steak one notch more done than usual. Medium rare was solid rare. But the cut was good, and my martini was very cool as I requested it.

While visiting Seattle from several states away, I was told I had to stop by Metropolitan Grill. Certainly not the cheapest meal I have had but I got to enjoy some of the best quality steak I have had. The Japanese A5 hits hard and the bone marrow was seasoned perfectly. Well worth a stop when you are feeling fancy.

Bruno and Dan were our wait staff and they are the best you will ever find! Bruno is the most knowledgeable server and Dan supports him 100% of the way! The food is amazing but it’s the staff that made it above and beyond!

This is our second time here and we will definitely come back. We come here for the stake, it is one of the best I’ve tried in Seattle so far. Great service and atmosphere. FYI: The service fee is included in the bill and the server gets only 10% from it.

Went here for my wife Birthday. Parking was pretty easy. We had a great server who took great care of us throughout the evening. We had yummy Steak and Carrot cake for dessert. GET it with the Bourbon Ice Cream! It tasted like Christmas. It was soo good. Can't wait to come back!

Atmosphere is nice, but getting dated. Service was great. For a steakhouse they have a LOT of trouble hitting temperature. 2/3 of our steaks had to go back. Another wasn't right but was "good enough, I guess". Near by table had the same problems.

An excellent steakhouse with warm interior, extensive wine list, and solid service. As great as the steaks were (Japanese filet mignon was truly melt in your mouth), our surprise favorite dish was the lobster bisque!

Service was quite attentive. I'm not a fan of steak so I got the fettuccine which was delicious, probably the best I've had. as others have mentioned, there was no shortage of seafood in it. The portion was decent and I got a full meal's worth of leftovers once I was done. Clam chowder was also delicious, as was the chocolate cake.

We had a company event here, and the service was impeccable. The staff were phenomenal. I had the aged ribeye with shrimp. It was a phenomenal cut of meat, and prepared perfectly. I spoke with other coworkers who had different steaks and seafood options, and everyone raved about how good it was. I would absolutely come back. More

Everything about The Metropolitan Grill was fantastic. Each of the employees I interacted with was wonderful and the food was of course incredible. If you're looking for a good steakhouse in Seattle, I can't recommend this one highly enough!

Amazing food destination. They have all the varieties of food. We were four people and everyone enjoyed the food. When you come, please make sure that you are booking a table in advance. We tried many different items and all those were delicious. A must go place if you are living nearby. I recommend it.

Great food and service. We received the bill with 20% service charge. The way this service charge was worded it implied that it would not be directly given as a gratuity to the server. So on the top of this service charge we would be required to add another 20% on top of the bill to the server.

Good beef are pricey. We enjoyed the cuts we ordered. Reservation is preferred. We did not make reservation, therefore, were given a bar table. The service staff is very patient to explain the various beef and cuts. Overall, we are very satisfied with the meal. Recommended to try this.

Pros: our service was impeccable. The energy our waitress had was great and she definitely informed us of everything we needed. Good tasting fries, large selection of drinks. We came for our anniversary, and she gifted us a crème brulet.

That was some good meat, and it cost as such! Ordered the American Wagyu filet, medium rare. It was cooked and seared perfectly. The baked potato in the side was enormous! Also notable was the wedge salad, with lots of this stuff on top.

There's not really much to say here, if you haven't heard of the Met, then you haven't had one of the best steaks in Seattle. Very high class, good portions, and quite possibly the best service in all of Seattle. Their food is amazing,

Fantastic food, impeccable service and beautiful decor. Will defintely be back. 2 specialty cocktails, 2 appetizers and splitting a 10 ounce steak with bake potato and asparagus was $250 for us, but worth it every penny.
