"Nice little contemporary art exhibit with free admission"
I've been trying to visit this gem for over a year, and they're finally open post covid, although only a couple of days a week. I was expecting a history museum, but what I got was an art gallery dedicated to Mexican artists and culture. They encourage photography. Take advantage of this lovely stop in Hemisfair Park. More
This building should be torn down and the "Art", if you want to call it that, should be moved to the San Antonio art museum. The exhibits are small and have much to be desired. The location is better suited for future development rather than what it is today.
This is ALWAYS a Great place to visit even if there ISN'T a special event going on. The best thing it's FREE and the Art exhibits change periodically depending on the time of season. It is a walking distance from the entrances regardless of
This is a nice small museum/gallery. It has two floors and when I went three exhibits. They were very interesting and I learned a lot. The location of this place is further away from some of the other attractions but if you are going to the
Nice little contemporary art exhibit with free admission. The museum only had one exhibit on the first floor when I visited the other day but typically has displays on the second floor as well. It is located in the middle of Hemisfair Park
Just ran across a picture (online) that’s currently on display. The words “Rape Trump” are written on it. This is not art. School groups go through this museum every day. It’s not appropriate for our children to see this agenda. It teaches
This was my first visit to the Mexican Cultural Institute and I was impressed!! Their doors were open welcoming people during the opening night of Fiesta downtown at Hemisphere Park. The colorful pieces of the Mexican culture were brought
The Instituto Cultural de México is always a wonderful destination for cultural and artistic events. The Vanilla and Chocolate Fest is an enlightening and tasty exhibit about two crops that originated in Mexico, Vanilla and Cacao. Opening
The Día de Muertos event was exquisito! November 1, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00pm, we viewed the crazy beautiful altar installation, enjoyed DJ Rambo’s music, pan de muerto and drinks, met fabulous people. Minister Sergio Zapata welcomed us.
We came by on a Wednesday and there was a sign on the front door saying they were open Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm. We came back on Thursday after 10 am and they were not open and no sign explaining why. The outside of the
Very sickening that they have a picture there that says Rape Trump. It doesn’t matter what you believe that should never be posted about ANY president. We need to teach our children to respect the office and the person in office.
There was a couple of pieces that I really really loved, and I'm generally not an art person at all. The floors were old, and that's why it's a 4. But honestly it doesn't really matter, if give 4.9 if I could.
Lovely display of punched metal table and floor lamps and wonderful woven shawls. Friendly desk attendant. Takes less than 20 minutes to view all pieces. Worth the time. Exhibit changes periodically.
The paintings were not impressive. So much Mexican culture that could have been portrayed here instead of some of the paintings they had. Really leaves more room for improvement. At least it was free
This is a very unique building. The artwork is very different from room to room. One room I liked (linocuts) and the other room was contemporary crayon drawings from what my 4 year old niece draws.
Hidden gem right in the heart of San Antonio! The collection is small but features some stunning artworks. Definitely worth the visit if you have a half hour to spare in Hemisfair Park.
The most ridiculous art ever displayed shouldn't even be called Art really basically trash on display! I guess that's what you should expect coming from a third world country!
Great place to explore art ️. Fabulous exposition from Antonio Muńoz the Artist . And The best of all is free. Just learn to appreciate art ️
I just went because caliente Hot Glass studio had an exhibit their for luminaries. Not really too impressed with the art exhibited in that museum, sorry More
Went to see the free screening of Roma at the Institute. I'm sorry the Institute itself was not open. I'll be back to look at it another time.
I love all the sculptures they have outside. A good place to check out if you're attending a conference at the nearby convention center.
Excellent exhibits on Mexican modern art and topics of interest. Really enjoyed the mezcal exhibit.
lol check out all these maga chuds that are pretending to be outraged over some photograph.
Great exhibits! Saw the parks they are building in Mexico City. Looks real nice!!!
Rotating art exhibits and occasional performances at this under-the-radar venue
They have different exhibitions. Best to call and find out what is showing.
The museum staff was very professional. The guided tour was insightful.
A nice place to walk through and see see art from another culture.
Free very interesting place depending on what is being exhibit.
Great art and it's free admission. We had a really good time!
