I was really looking forward to visiting Midwest Trader as I had been following them on Facebook for quite some time and was keen to pick up some vintage t-shirts for my daughter. Unfortunately, the reception was incredibly frosty. Actually, there was absolutely no reception at all. Upon entering the store, which was empty, the woman behind the counter couldn't even be bothered to look up from her phone to greet us. As we were looking at the t-shirts, we passed the counter on multiple occasions and still, absolutely no acknowledgement - no smile, no greeting, no offer of help. Nothing. We were in the store for around 5 - 7 minutes and when the woman did manage to pry herself away from her phone, she looked completely disinterested. We left empty handed and ended up going elsewhere. If you enjoy feeling welcome then I would suggest going elsewhere, however, if you enjoy being completely ignored then make your way down to Midwest Trader, you'll feel right at home.

love this store..instantly catches ur attention as u enter the laneway ..no other store like it in Australia..full of great americana trinkets and memorabilia ..had a great experience as entered store and had a great chat with the lady who runs/owns the business. She is very sweet and delightful in sharing great knowledge of vintage threads and swapping stories with USA travels and music/film. She had a rad playlist on the day I happened to walk in and has an overall lovely mannerism who is passionate about what she supports.. I totally recommend you take a detour off the main strip and walk into a change of scenery like ur walking into an legit yankee set up. They have lots of rad rock n roll t's, vintage threads, jackets, boots, lots of denim and even the cool little things such as the Pinon burners which smell like u have walked out of a californian pine forest. I gained some great knowledge and some new hot spots to hit on my next trip overseas.

I've been shopping with Midwest Trader every now and again over the last couple of years for brilliant tees and vintage bandanas and Kates service has always been fast and helpful and no question has ever been gone unanswered. Recently though Kate outdid herself, guiding me through the purchase of Red Wing boots. She understood what an investment the purchase was and helped me with every bit of knowledge she has to ensure I was getting what I wanted, and when things didn't go quite to plan Kate was there with offers of help and kind words. This kind of service is not something you come across often, and I'll happily sing Midwests praises wherever I roam.

Midwest Trader has been one of my all time favourite stores since I was a young angsty rock teen 20 years ago. Never felt cooler than going into Midwest. Stronger than ever, this pillar of the East End deserves nothing but 5 stars. Insane range of vintage, band tees, cowboy boots, workwear, you name it. Super high quality. Even though the store downsized, it hasn’t lost any punch or room for stock; it’s a collector’s haven in their wood cabin store. You wouldn’t even know you’re in Adelaide. Kate is an absolute legend and 110% knows her stuff. Midwest forever!!!!!!!!

Had a awesome experience with my mate this Saturday gone. Copped myself a mint condition Aztec design jacket for a very fair and decent price. I love this store and make visits periodically (every couple of months), never seeing the same clothes. Stock is always rotating and different which I love. Props to the legends that run it, and I especially respect how the owner lets me walk around and browse before engaging, giving me a chance to see what's new :)

Definitely one of the best shops in Adelaide has a lot of unique cloths and items. It has new and second hand stuff from shirts, hats, jeans, stickers and cowboy boots. But what makes this shop worth visiting other than the items they stock is there customer service and hospitality has always been great. I would definitely recommend visiting this shop there is actually a Wilson’s carpark right next to it for convenient parking.

I have so much ❤ for MIDWEST TRADER! Love walking in and soaking up the atmosphere. It's clear the owners sell what they love. It's no marketing ploy, it's their lifestyle and it shows. I visit every time I am back in Adelaide, as no store in Melbourne can hold a candle to MWT. Always an awesome range of Vintage. Feels like walking into a store in the States. Most of my wardrobe comes from here. Support Your Local Independents!

The lady who seems to own the store was obviously in a bad mood or something, her customer service is terrible. I would have been happy to spend my money there, but chose to just buy the same items from the web at a much cheaper price. Please just lighten up, and crack a smile for your customers, and potential customers. I wouldn't in all honesty be able to recommend this potentially wonderful shop to my friends or colleagues.

Ive been coming into this store as long as i can remember. Back in the day, I loved a jaunt round rundle buying some good music at Verandah, and threads from Midwest, and then perch up at the cranka! Came in the other day and got a great new shirt, and it was so good to see it still being as awesome as always, with great friendly service to boot! If you are in to some seriously slick vintage, you cant go past Midwest!

Good American clothing but it can be expensive. They should have another store at inner south as well as in the city. I have a Canadian leather moccacan boots that are over 30 years old. I don't know the value of thses are but if I get desperate for money I might sell to a person who needs them. What to do you think? I got these from Ontario,Canada over 35 yrs ago. They were a Christmas present from my parents.

Midwest Trader has got the vibes. I always find unexpected treasures here. It’s such a feast for the senses stepping through the door. Every inch of space is filled with vintage clothes, band tees, accessories and ‘where have you been all my life’ oddities that distract you constantly. Very friendly staff and a good soundtrack.

I recently went in to Midwest Trader to buy a birthday gift, and as always, the service was so great! This stalwart of Adelaide’s east end is a true gem, and we are lucky to have such a place here! Ay the suggestion of a friend, I visited Kate and Jarrad on 3 consecutive days as we tried to get the right boots for me. They organised a resupply from their supplier, helped me fit the boot just right and were super friendly! Love my new kicks and I've been recommending MT to anyone that will listen. Thanks guys!

What a great concept, refreshing to see such quality gear. Everything was so much better quality than most retailers carry and at really affordable prices. I just stumbled on this shop but give it all ticks. Just a tip, take your time in there and you will find a gem!

I'm not one for reviews, but the girl who served me today when i was looking at band tees had incredible customer service. Walked in feeling a little sombre, walked out with a smile on my face and a new band tee. Will absolutely be back again.

Owner of the store is the most rude and abusive women. She treats customers as potential thieves and annoyance. She insulted us and spoiled our mood . We never had such an awful shopping experience. No clothes worth being abused and humiliated

Wanted to buy the Iron Ranger boots but size 10 s go out the door very quickly i ended up buying 875 s moc toe boots at a great price they're a better fit to my wide foot and was thankful listening to the lady's expert advise.Happy Travels

Absolutely love this gem in Adelaide!! Always such a warm welcome when you step in, staff are super attentive and have some great stories to tell too! The store is almost like a museum as well as a retail shop, so much to look at :)

Went all the way into the city one day just to see the store, nice shop but was only half the size they make it look in photos (very small) Also the customer service wasn't great, woman barely greeted us and was very quiet and rude

Walked in to have a look around the store which looked pretty cool. The store was empty and the lady staff member saw us but was too busy folding clothes to bother to say hi to the only two people in the store.

Really interesting store! I was looking for a Tee that had an authentic American feel to it and I got the Midwest Trader tee and I love it! Fits well. Definitely will consider coming back to buy another shirt.
