Needed to organise bulk delivery of 25 meals with a few days notice and went with Miko's Bento via a scheduled Ubereats order. Part of the reason I chose this place was I knew from a few previous dine in visits that they have a decent sized kitchen and had a good variety of food options to suit different preferences. The food won't blow your socks off, but it's a dependable option for a feed. Thanks for not letting me down! Pictured is my choice of the spicy chicken bento ($15.50) and also had a free small serve of spring rolls for ordering over $20 of food. Prices are generally between $0-2 above what you'd pay in store, but it wasn't a ridiculous markup like some other venues I was considering. A reasonable premium for the convenience.
I loved this place and ordered it once a week off uber eats. Decided to dine in one day - big mistake. It cost me $3 more than it would cost on uber eats (weird since they take a surcharge) so I assumed this was a dining in fee. It was over 30 degrees outside and this shop HAS NO AIRCON. They have a few dusty fans and thats it. As a heavily pregnant woman I couldn't sit in the stinking heat any longer and asked to take my meal away. Well they charged me more for that as well. So not only did it cost more than it normally would on uber eats, I got screwed around for it too. You've just lost a regular customer.

I ordered the "Teriyaki Salmon Don" for lunch as the pictured menu looked delicious! However what was served was not at all. Was served a piece of over cooked teriyaki salmon, on rice with a couple of lettuce leaves, biting into the salmon it was dry and almost tasted like day old re heated salmon on day old rice. Not impressed at all, and couldn't eat it, had a couple of bites hoping the taste would improve.. It didn't so I left it there and went and got something from somewhere else. while it seems like a nice little place close to work, they need to take more care in their food prep and presentation. Also freshness and quality wouldn't go a far either. Cant say ill be back.
If this is supposed to be traditional japanese food, than the average japanese would look like the usual american: fat. All vegetables were fried, even okonomiyaki were soaked in mayonnaise( which is not necessary as they have a great taste). If you are a lover of authentic japanese food, this is NOT the place to go. Its probably more of an australianised version of japanese food with plenty of fried and fatty stuff. Not any healthier then mac donalds but tastier maybe. I strongly recommend sun crane in toowong shopping center. Their okonomiyakis are way bigger and better. Sushi is excellent there too.
Only real reason to eat here is when Genkotsu Ramen is either (meant to be open) closed, or is completely booked out. Food is never actually hot, which you would expect otherwise given the inordinate ammount of time you wait for food to arrive. No frills Japanese food yes. Cheap yes. For the people that claim it's "so good" or "it's the best Japanese food I've ever had", please get your head out of your Crunchyroll subscription list and stop being a weeb. It's not fantastic, it's not (somewhat partially) truly authentic, by any worldwide standard the food quality is poor.
Worst experience ever. I made my orden by Deliveroo at 8 pm (the restaurant close at 8.45). In the app it says ‘the restaurant is preparing your order’ and one hour later my order has been canceled by the restaurant since ‘they closed early’ Now I dont have my money and I’m starving. And I’m doing this comment in google maps since Deliveroo doesn’t allow me to do a comment because my order was canceled. It was disrespectful and you play with people time.

I had a Teriyaki Chicken Bento box and this was the first time I went here, after the take-away in the Toowong Tower closed down (which was in comparison 4-5 star). I had half a slice of a small orange, the spring rolls were tiny and not great, very dry rice (my husband had the Unagi Bento box and his rice was 'drained' in sauce / much too much). The best were the few salad leaves and the Teriyaki Chicken was average. Would never get a Bento Box there again. I rather pay more and get good food.
Not genuine Japanese its a cash cow restaurant. They use lowest quality products/cheap/filler products e.g. lettuce. Sushi is pacjed with lettuce and leaves no room for proteins for flavour. Katsu chicken was fried and cut ahead of time then refried. Resulted in dry as heck chicken and also burnt the crumbing. Not worth it for the pricing. It seems cheap but you can pay the same for better quality food. E.g. mr curry in the shopping centre 40meters down the road. Do not waste your money here.
3 meals on 3 separate occasions katsudon: a dry chicken fillet, barely any sauce, and a fried egg on top. Did not match photo on display at all. Tempura: very thick batter like a beer-batter, sweet potato not quite cooked through, some pieces fried till it was dark brown. Ramen: instant noodles with broth that tasted like it was also from an instant noodle packet. HOWEVER, their large sushi rolls are generally quite nice and consistent. If eating here, only purchase these.
This place used to be my go to years ago but has since gone from ok to unacceptable. The sushi is now tasteless and the katsu doesn’t taste good anymore. The staff are not very friendly and even after ordering nearly $50 of food i get told I can’t have my wife sit with us at an outdoor table when she got some ramen from the place next door? Trust me when I say this but I will never come back and I’ll be sure to tell everyone to avoid this place.

Not my favourite sushi place to be honest. Had to pop in for some quick dinner because my other "go-to" store was closed. Sushi is average-high priced, not very nicely made, but that might have been just a bad sushi I unluckily picked (the nori was overly moist so it just died in my hands) Teriyaki chicken tasted dry, and looking around, the atmosphere of the place just feels "down". Also don't take EFTPOS, but that's understandable I guess.
Went here to get a bento box. Opening hours say 10am - it was 10.30am. Doors wide open, open sign on display. Was gestured to not walk in as the floors were being mopped, asked if open and they said no. Walked away feeling embarrassed and annoyed. Change your opening hours if you can't cater to customers who are willing to drive 20 minutes to your business. I had already been patiently waiting all morning until 10am and now I wont come back.
After a morning hike up to the lookout at Mt Cootha and a hike back down again, we were all tired and hungry to our dismay the restaurants we were wanting to go was closed so we decided on Miko's Bento and I am glad that we did as this little gem was simply amazing, do not let the bland appearance and decor fool you! absolutely no complaints. Even til today, everyone of us (5) still remember the name "Miko's Bento". Highly recommended.
This place is a cheap eats gem! A no-frills Japanese lunch place that does the job in sating your hunger. Granted it's not the fanciest food you'll ever eat (I'm 99% sure the coleslaw was from KFC) but the prices are super cheap and portions sizes generous. I can guarantee you won't leave hungry. Throw in a house sake for a few extra dollars and you've got yourself a pretty decent lunch at a low price. Who's going to say no to that?
Our dishes were sent to the wrong table which other customers touched with their hands and then sent back, and was then brought to our table and when we asked if it was the same dish they asked if that was an issue. They then brought out what I’m positive was the exact same dish 2 mins later as it was cold and old looking. Otherwise food was average but not as cheap as the lunch special gives the illusion of. Wouldn’t recommend
One nice little Japanese restaurant just at the corner of the toowang village. The prawn is crispy from the outside and juicy from the inside, with a bowl of hot udon, makes it perfect. The softshell crab sushi roll is also amazing with all those sauces. the price is so good, only a little bit over 10dollars and just find out they have lunch special between AUD8.90-9.90. THAT'S CHEAP. Definitely coming back for it.
Aside from the cleanliness of the restaurant needing some serious attention and the value for money being a bit expensive, this is a pretty good bento place. The teriyaki salmon is always delicious. The rice could be a bit better but still satisfying. Service is always fine

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here. Even though the restaurant does not look spectacular on the outside, it is a amazing place with a nice atmosphere. The service is always great, the sushi is so fresh I don't know how they do it and the prices are so good! If you come to this place, you must try the tigger roll! So Yummy! We would love to come again some time!

Month of visit: November 2023 Tried the bento that has special price $10.90 Pretty good and nice for that amount of price. The place was quite crowded when i came, there is indoor and outdoor tables, Nothing too special actually but a good and affordable option for a japanese food if you happen to be in Toowong!

Worst Katsu Don I've ever had. Low quality, non fresh and not enough ingredients. This is not an authentic restaurant, flavours are not right. I saw the low reviews but wanted to take the risk, big mistake, trust the reviews.

The miso soup was cold when it came on, there were random oranges in the bento box for some reason, and even though me and my friend ordered very early, we had to wait about half and hour before our bento was served, and people that came in after us has already got their things as well. Very bad experience, would not recommend to anyone on this planet
Got food poisoning from their sashimi a few days ago. They said their sashimi was brought in that morning and that it was "fresh" however, the salmon had obviously been frozen. It had a plastic-y smell, was extremely dry, and had a rubber like consistency.

Not sure how to describe my experience with today's takeaway. Bought 3 bento Salmon set, Sushi and Tempura set and Special set, plus couple of Entree, total paid $77 for this order. Quality is not good, Salmon too salty; Tempura super oily; Sushi rice not acceptable. Lucky didn't order any sushi platter . Not going back again.
We watched the server bring our food to the wrong table, the other customers unknowingly touched the food (with their hands) before realising it wasn’t what they ordered then the server tried bringing us the food after we watched the other people touch it… The grilled salmon was also cold. Definitely won’t be coming back.
Absolutely fantastic sushi and donburi - some of the best food I’ve had in Brisbane. Great portion sizes, hearty and filling food, and a great menu.

We ended up here because Genkotsu was closed. It's on the pricier side for what you get but it is toowong. Would I go there as a first choice? Probably not. The serving side is moderate and quality is reasonable. Notice how I didn't upload any pictures? I ordered a karage chicken set, it's not particularly photogenic.
Cute little store, work an expansive menu. Prices are good, and the staff are lovely. Good variety of sushi and other Japanese meals. Has a range of hand rolls and sushi ready for takeaway; otherwise sit and enjoy fresh made food. Plenty of parking nearby, and are usually open early till late, even on public holidays
My favourite place to enjoy japanese cuisine. They make fresh, fast and delicious sushi and bento box dishes. Price is reasonable too.

The best Japanese food I have ever had in Brisbane !! All the food was always given full measure.Absolute excellent quality and reasonable price. I usually have meals together with my family in this restaurant. All the food was absolutely amazing Nigirl was excellent and fresh and Karaage curry very tasty.
Due to the plastic panels while ordering it was difficult to hear and communicate with the employees. Ended up getting our order wrong and getting an unwanted salmon bento, no refunds, concessions or any apologies from employees.

Very nice place. Visited here since Uni. Friendly price, nice staff and taste food. The bento is so good which has meat, veg and fruit. A great choice for lunch or busy day. Also good for friends to catch up. Back here today. Still good as before. The fresh and hot food still with steam. Highly recommend.
I am not sure what I was served… but this was not authentic japanese food at all…. I LOVE japanese food and never leave anything on the plate, however here I was actually unable to finish any of my food. I feel ripped off.

I got a teriyaki salmon bento for dinner, and it wasn't great. The portions were a good size, but I wasn't expecting a diced coleslaw in place of a fresh, lightly dressed salad. The fish itself was fine, and the accompanying rice felt a bit dry. (Slightly undercooked?) I probably will not visit again.
Foods are nice. However, staff who was on the toll tonight was rude. I could not hear them properly so ask them again what they said. And she gave me rude look. She also gave me that look when I order to get sauce on the side instead of on the dishes. That is not your job to judge customer’s order.
Love the dishes and friendly staff, worth going!

Their chicken udon is my comfort food 10/10 live for it. Their udon doesn’t smell like fish like so many other udons Ive tried have. But you guys really could improve the vibe in there. Add some plants even, just something to lift the space.

No, forget the tempura for $20. What arrived via Ubereats was five half-prawns (NOT 5 prawns) and six pieces of sweet potato (NOT in any sense 'mixed vegetables'). They were squashed into two small plastic containers and arrived soggy and soaked in oil. Horribly overpriced disappointment.
We had two bento boxes and both were amazing value for money. Tasty, quick and the servers very polite

I'm a repeat visitor here. It's always been cheap, tasty and filling. The staff are great - we managed to catch them on a really busy night but were happy to wait for the extra 5/10 minutes our meal took. Good range of food. I love the avocado salad or the chicken katsu soup. 5/5

I ordered a spicy ramen. It was $12. And i got a pack of shin ramen from coles. That is less than $1 It's ridiculous..... How they can call that it's a Japanese ramen? And unfriendly staff said they can't do anything about it Such a poor service. What a waste my money :(

Only gave 1 star because there is no lower option. Zero flavour in the "vegetable curry" which was practically just rice and cabbage. Bento box has horrible sushi, undercooked and unsalted edamame, tempura veg was completely tasteless. Massive waste of money.
Not a good experience. Ordered a Chicken Katsu curry and was very dry...the "rice to sauce" ratio was really off...and they charge an extra $1 for extra sauce...so you pay for an average meal and its $1 extra to make it bearable. Much be owned by Chinese :/
We had karage bento and dragon roll, both are nicely served and well cooked. Karage was perfectly fried, we loved the sauce on top. dragon roll was just amazing with tempura prawn inside and salmon on top tastes really good. Staff was very
Japanese spicy ramen made by Korean instant noodle? That's the worst ramen I have ever had. As Japanese, you guys should be very clear that you just can't name it as "ramen". I should really spend same amount of money for Hakataya ramen.
really the best bento and sushi in town! their special roll is really big portion with a lot of stuffing and sauce! tried their sashimi for the first time too and it's fresh and nice. will visit them often during my lunch break!!

My boyfriend and I can't get enough of this place. The best Japanese we've found in Brissie. We eat here most weeks. Servings are generous too. I love bentos because I like my food separated. He loves their katsu dons. Love it !
Appears to be under new management. Katsu chicken bento taste even better! They also changed their noodle range so no more instant. Great stuff. Keep it up. Great service and now their food is better because of new management.
I ordered delivery from here through an app and thoroughly enjoyed all the food I ordered! The sushi was fresh and the udon noodles with seafood was a delicious dish. I’d love to order from here again or even visit in person.
This is one of our favorites. We normally get take away and head up to Mt Cootha. The food is always great and the service. The only down side would be parking options but it would be the same for any restaurant in this area.
I ordered the teriyaki chicken bento and Toowong roll. The roll was full of cheese and cream. I am not recommended to try. The bento portion is normal. The teriyaki chick is quite salty but the spring roll is good.
I had lunch just five minutes ago from this place. Ordered salmon teriyaki bento. What came out was 6 pcs from of small fried fish (frozen not fresh) with thick soy sauce on top for $16.00. I don’t recommend.
The food is good, definitely. But the combination of waiting and price unfortunately makes me unwilling to go back there. However, I would recommend going there if you live locally/within walking distance.
Avoid sashimi at all cost. Ordered a small sashimi platter, tuna arrived frozen, salmon slices have bone. They mixed up the order without apologies. One extra star for tasty bento but that’s about it.
Decent price points for the quality and quantity of food. Katsu curry is delicious and staff was super friendly. Will definitely be coming back soon :)

Good cheap and cheerful Japanese style food. The lunch special is good value 8.9$ for a choice of 4 types of Don(with rice) or 9.9$ for a bento with miso soup. It’s not fancy but simple and tasty.
Waited over 30 minutes past the latest arrival time on uber eats when the order was cancelled by the restaurant. They did not provide any service or insight as to why this occurred additionally.
The oil has definitely been used for more than two days and has a strange unspeakable taste. I used to work in a restaurant, so I know a lot about this. Don't eat if you want to keep healthy.
The food didn't taste good, it didn't have much taste at all... ate it cuz I was very hungry, but I wouldn't go there again outside of "lunch special" time, which offers quite good prices
Four young non-Japanese kids making staple Japanese dishes just does not work. The place has too many things on the menu and cannot even do the most basic thing - cooking rice properly.
Miko's is good. What you see on the menu pics is very close to what you get. Would give 4.5 if I could, as the place is a bit old, but the prices reflect (good) and it is better than 4.

Tasty, incredibly cheap, and reasonably authentic. Not super fancy, but great for a quick lunch or a casual dinner. One of my favourite places to eat in the area
Salmon salad is a good choice with very fresh salmon . Be sure to try their sushi rolls, it's the biggest sushi roll I've ever ate, and taste so good !!!!
Gluten free is clearly marked in the menu not on the wall. The BBQ Bento is perfect! For 14AUD is the portion a bit small but fine , thanks I come back.
Absolutely the best food I have had for a long time, at the most reasonable prices and portions that will leave you really happy!!! Highly recommended
