While there are now many coffee shops in Farsley the Mill Kitchen is still my preferred café of choice and I have visited this outlet since it opened some years ago. Even though the change of ownership the offer has been consistent. A recent upgrade of the extraction system has had a dramatic positive effect: I no longer come out smelling of grease! The air quality inside this café is now so much better. There is a great range of food and beverages and some really good bread to take out. I believe most of the baked goods are created on-site. A real favourite of mine is the home-baked Pain au chocolat. They are often still warm from the oven and are utterly delicious. Though it they are not still warm staff are happy to bob them in the oven to warm them. A good free wi-fi connection means there are usually a few people "working from home!" in there. There are a couple of negatives for me. Sometimes the place can be dominated by overly indulgent and overly entitled young mothers and their mewling babies. Depending on how many there are depends on whether or not I stay! But the space is large so it is normally possible to get out of the immediate vicinity of the local chapter of Mumsnet! They do allow dogs, which for me are much more endearing than whining babies and much less noisy. The other negative is the meanness of their tea offer. Tea is served in a mug with the teabag still in. But they only use "ships measures" of hot water [short of the top so it does not spill]. This means that when the tea bag is taken out the mug is only just over half full of tea! The cost of a few more ml of boiling water is so small as to be hard to measure. Why they do not fill the mug to the top with boiling water is not clear. Better still would be to sever the tea in a small pot, which would provide a cup and a half of tea at minuscule extra cost but the perceived value to the customer would be far greater. All that said, The Mill Kitchen is still my preferred choice in Farsley.

I'm going to start with the negative even though I've gone with 5 stars! Although the food is lovely, different and the mill is vegetarian and vegan friendly, the kids menu also uses the same quirky food. My child is super fussy now, hoping its just a phase, but this has stopped us for going for some time as there's nothing really for her. This seems to be my issue in most places like this though. So on for the pros. Their food is always fresh, home-made and supply fresh baked bread, the staff are also really friendly and helpful. They provide dining in, out and takeaways and supply some of the local businesses pieces. They also help out with charities, we know our very own Chef Imogen from Farsley Farfield sets up her cupcake stall there raising money to buy cooking and baking books for schools. The place itself is calm and relaxing bit of a boho contemporary vibe. Can seat larger amounts for meetings and can be hired out later on from what I've heard. The last time we went there was nappies and wipes in the toilet where they have the baby changing area, I thought that was a really nice touch considering a lot of new mums seem to like it. There's a lot of space for maneuvering prams and wheelchairs etc and is on ground level with no steps so easily accessible. Hard not give it 5 stars considering all of the above so we can let the kids thing go..... unless it's not a phase, then we need some Warburtons and red leicester!

Food was lovely and the girl who served me at the till was really friendly. Girl who brought our drinks was very rude. When I was at the till I asked for babychino made with oat milk for the dog, and I assumed I had been charged for it as I asked it before I paid. The waitress, didn’t get her name but she had tattoos come over to the table and was very rude and said “by the way we normally charge for oat milk even if it is for the dog” so we said we had offered. Anyway she made us feel very awkward and kept walking past giving us daggers, so I went up and paid for the milk which I assumed I had been charged for. I made sure I went over to inform her that I had paid and just gave me a smug smile and said thank you. Shame I really liked going here but I won’t be returning after spending £30 quid and then being made to feel like a criminal over a splash of oat milk I thought I had paid for in the first place. The girl with the black hair who served me last time and this time and actually fed my dog the oat milk on the previous visit was lovely and is always friendly. She deserves 5 stars just for service. But I am having to give a low rating because I spend 5 days a week managing coffee shops and if my staff was that rude to a paying customer unnecessarily I would want to know

Absolutely love this place. Stumbled upon it one afternoon when browsing Farsley town street (hadn’t been in a while). Fantastic coffees and hot drinks, the cakes and pastries are DIVINE. So tasty. The ‘morning buns’ are delicious, they seem to vary in flavours every other day/week, would highly recommend those. I haven’t ventured much through the full menu yet, but the bacon sandwiches are lovely and the savoury pastries on the counter also. Have previously had the pumpkin and blue cheese turnover (perfect combo!) and their jumbo sausage rolls are great to take away for a dinnertime snack. I have a young baby and a 5yo and have taken both every time, with other parents also there. But also professionals working on their laptops, friends meeting up, couples having a coffee together, people just on their own enjoying a coffee and snack. It seems perfect for everyone and lots of dietary options (which are clearly labelled/noted on all menus). You’d be doing yourself a disservice not visiting this cafe when visiting Farsley Overall this place is perfect.

Went in on a busy morning when Sunny bank Mills had their market. They dealt very well with what looked like a very busy run. Decided to have a takeaway. The gentleman with the ponytail was gracious as ever , single handedly servicing a long queue of hungry customers . We ordered a mocha and oat milk hot chocolate with the earlgrey loaf and fig biscotti. Both were delicious. Had to wait a bit for the takeaways , though it was incredibly busy. Atmosphere- lots of families enjoying it . I'd recommend it.

There is a car park just behind the dealership but it's usually full as there are limited spaces. Further up the hill, next to the post office there is a few more spaces and then the road behind that is free too .
Kid-friendliness
Very kid friendly , especially babies. So many babies and prams and pushchairs.

Superb quality food, great coffee from a local roaster with more on offer in bags (beans & ground). Loads of tables and space and the staff look well looked after, happy to be there and knowledgeable about the food. Toilets are very small and up several flights of stairs, these are shared with other businesses. The accessible toilet is on the ground floor and spacious. Pastries, cakes and some savoury dishes available.

  • SuperSah44

This place has great food but seriously needs to rethink how they serve customers. People pile in and loiter around your table waiting for you to finish so they can take your spot. We had people standing in touching distance waiting for our table and watching us eat. It's extremely uncomfortable and the place becomes seriously overcrowded because of it. Staff do nothing about it and clearly don't care because obviously they make tons of money this way. It's dog friendly which is great but also means people come in with dogs on leads far too long jumping at the counter with exposed bread bloomers. It's unhygienic. The food here is great but the atmosphere is akin to a school playground where the adults are the children. Avoid this place if you like your personal space.

A vibrant cafe which prides itself on its fresh baked goods. It was busy, and had a lovely atmosphere. We ordered kids sausage sandwich and fruit and I tired the Pancakes. Order was out in a quick pace. I won't lie I panicked as they were very light in colour as was the bacon. The pancakes were light and fluffy and so very good. The portion of maple syrup was generous and just enough. My only feedback would be crispier / well done streaky bacon would have made this exceptional. This was my second visit and it won't be our last, despite travelling from Dewsbury!

This is just down the road from my friend and every time we see eachother we come here for either breakfast or lunch. The atmosphere is really friendly, it is dog friendly and has some great gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. There is outside seating and the social distancing precautions are really good. I would recommend trying anything in the menu as it is always good, they always have a delicious selection of salad options and their bakery section is to die for. They also provide click and collect or takeaway. Currently i would suggest booking a table as it is reduced capacity and they are always busy. A local hotspot for great food and atmosphere.

Lovely lunch today, ham and cheese toastie was delicious! Wanted skimmed milk but was told this isn't available, every other variable of milk and milk substitutes available but no skimmed, surprised as thought in a coffee shop this would be a given. I can only drink skimmed milk so had to have a milk substitute which I didn't particularly enjoy. I ordered iced latte which arrived in a lovely glass cup on a saucer that had obviously just been taken out of the dishwasher resulting in my iced latte melting very quickly!

Normally we have a lovely breakfast and come often when in the area. I brought my mum for the first time today as we have just lost my dad .they used to have a cafe on dawsons corner many years ago son was nice to reminisce The food was lovely cheeay beans on toast with scrambles egg. Then we found a HAIR on the plate this put my mum off eating. Was asked if we wanted another portion .we declined. Would of been nice to have staff come up and speek directly to my mum. Very disapointed and to be honest spoiled the morning. Come on step.it up its not NORMAL to find hair in your food.

What a gorgeous find! Mill Kitchen is so inviting. It's a wonderful place to meet for a spot of brunch, to catch up on some emails or a good book or even to stop and watch the world go by whilst having delicious food and coffee. I came here with a friend and although it was busy it felt like it was just the two of us (and the doggo). There is a good range of food and beautifully tempting cakes and everyone was so friendly

An excellent chilled out place to go for weekend brunch! Good food and great selection for all types of diner! Only one issue is that recent changes to some of the ingredients in the cooked breakfast have made it a little worse than it used to be. For example you used to get slow cooked tasty tomatoes which they don't do anymore. Also you could get chorizo as a side which they don't do. But other than that it's still a great spot for breakfast/brunch!

Great place for mums and babies as there is quite a lot of space for prams. Friendly staff, good coffee and great brownies / cakes! Only negatives we had was the sun, we love the sun obviously but when shining through the windows it got uncomfortably hot. The only other comment I have is smelling of a fry up when I leave. That is why I don’t visit as much, clothes and hair smells of it all day! I would like to try some of the breakfast/ brunch dishes though as they looked very tasty.

Came for lunch - I had the sourdough with smashed avocado and a pouched egg which was spot on and my partner had a crispy bacon butty with a poached egg which got equally good praise. Lovely atmosphere, prices as expected for the location and premises. Knocked a star off for the service though as I got the impression that at busy lunchtimes such as our visit, they struggle to cope and as such we had a wait of nearly 30 minutes for our food. Coffee is nice though and we will revisit.

This place is epic. Went on a Sunday late morning. Really busy but quick and good service. Food was amazing, really tasty and decent value. There are plenty of high chairs if needed and tables have plenty of space around them so even if it's busy you don't feel crammed in. Several vegetarian and vegan options and freshly baked breads and cakes made there. Highly recommend and can't wait for a repeat visit.

I had heard some terrible things previously from friends local to the area (myself living in Morley). After hearing a new head chef joined about a year ago myself and my partner went for brunch and it was great. Food presentation and style is top tier for the value. We have been back several times since and our friends say its much improved as well. Amazing the difference a good chef can make!

My partner and I went in for Sunday Brunch. Wonderful food, lovely smiling service, and a cute British small village feel. With a wide variety on the menu and drinks list, you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy. Took a chance & tried the “Kim Chi pancakes” and they were FANTASTIC! Please tell the chef that was a wonderful and unique creation and tasted Excellent ! A great place to visit with friends, pop in for a quick bite to eat, stay and work from your laptop, bring your dog. Very friendly atmosphere.

We had fabulous scrambled eggs here. The best scrambled eggs I've ever had. I'm not sure how it is made but it was so delicious on their own toasted soda bread. I was actually tempted to order it again and have seconds! A lovely cafe which was understandably very busy. A little loud for me but the food was worth the visit and we will be back ASAP.

We visited yesterday after wanting to visit the area for a long time. We really just stopped for a quick drink but after inspecting the food and cake we decided to have lunch. I had the sausage roll and winter salad which was bloody delicious. My husband had the bacon sandwich. We then finished with the flapjack and OH MY GOODNESS. It was the best flapjack we have ever tasted! EVER! An absolutely wonderful little cafe. I will be telling everyone about this place. Just make sure you save me some flapjack ;-)

  • Ellie Gent

Lovely cafe in a great location with free parking. The portions are generous and there is a good selection of veggie and vegan meals as well as a children's menu. Easily accessible inside, when I visited there were 2 wheelchairs and 4 buggies there and still plenty of space to move around. High chairs and toddler toys are out for you to use. Only downside was that the coffee wasn't as strong as I'd like but I do take mine strong so would be ok for anyone else! Staff were fab, thanks again.

  • Laura Mackenzie

The BEST (and only??) vegan pain au chocolate I've ever had - cannot express how delicious it was. But if you want one you'd better get there early as they sell out! Their vegan cake selection is immaginitive and just as good as the non vegan stuff. This is one of my fave cafes

This is a fantastic place in the centre of Farsley. I’ve visited for coffee, for breakfast, for brunch - sometimes solo to do some work, other time with friends. It has a lovely friendly but no fuss atmosphere and there’s always a good bustle. The menu is excellent for gluten free needs (&the staff are knowledgable about coeliac disease) and they also label/offer vegan and vegetarian options. The food is always fantastic; and the coffee is some of the best I’ve had in Leeds.

  • Matthew Simpson

Great fresh food with very high quality produce, amazing baked goods and great coffee. As such it's always bustling with range of ages and family friendly and full of life. Sometimes can be hard to get a seat as no ability to book and very popular. It can be very noisy due to open plan high ceiling otherwise it's as described really lovely place.

Just stopped by for a quick birthday lunch treat to the kitchen. Was so impressed with the service, staff friendliness and lovely environment. The food was exceptional, we shared a cheese toastie, with side salad and a masala, chickpea and sweet potato soap with chunky homemade sourdough bread! 5 stars all day long! We had to stay longer for coffee and homemade cakes. So good, thank you!

Nice place, nice food and nice drinks. Only negative was part of my order was missing so I had to go up and ask for it as the waitress was more interested in talking to the other staff behind the counter. Lovely food, lots of variety, delicious and innovative salads, good choice of hot and cold drinks. Great atmosphere, spacious room with high ceiling. If needed, there are plug sockets available for your laptop, mobile etc. Nice sunny outside seating area. Access info: The entrance is flat and wide. The door to the loo is wide and it is in a large room, but it isn't a disabled loo.

We're often visiting Mill. We can bring our big dog and he's very welcome. Food is what is best described as hipstery which means it's very tasty, local ingredients but a little expensive. But you do get what you pay for and it is good quality.

We are in very regularly. Nice atmosphere and good food. I would have given 5 stars if there were bigger coffees (maybe a loyalty card?) available and comfy sofas to sit on. Otherwise... our favourite cafe where the food is consistently excellent and the service is exceptional. Try the scrambled egg on toast.... or the bacon sandwich.... yummy.... :)

Had a lovely Sunday brunch here with family. All plates left empty. The breads used were delicious. Fresh coffee is great tasting & the sweet pastries are mouth wateringly lovely. Staff were efficient & smiled/chatted. We were able to take a puppy with us which was a great help to us (sat outside in the sunshine). A wonderful place - go try it!

Lovely little cafe, perfect for brunch. Wide selection of refreshments both hot and cold. Food is rustic and filling. Plenty to choose from and very child friendly, with a children's menu and plenty of space to get a pushchair round. Also has a lovely little shop section with a variety of homewares on offer.

We had a cappuccino and a pot of tea plus a very chocolatey piece of cake. The cake was gluten free and lovely and moist. I highly recommend the cakes as they are always lovely. Dropped a star due to slower than normal service but they were very busy today which is a reflection of their excellent wares.

Nice place with great staff at competitive prices. The place was full of vegans on Sunday morning but to be fair they weren't violent or in your face & didn't cause any trouble. Would definitely call back.

Place was busy but I was Very disappointed. Ordered tomato & balsamic soup. It was barely luke warm & far too much balsamic. Both my partner & I left over half of it. Don't think we'll be returning.

Amazing vegan breakfast! Always have vegan options, always fresh, delicious and flavoursome!! If you're lucky you may find giant cookies and dogs lounging. Photo from the surrounding mills.

Just do normal beans - work on presentation - mine looked like a dogs dinner

Didn't have any food. Lovely coffee though. For me it's too noisy as there are always a lot of people in a large room.

Love this place. Brownies are to die for. Hot chocolate and coconut milk available. Amazing breakfast with locally sourced ingredients, homemade bread and homemade baked beans!

A really awesome cafe. Excellent service and food, plus a great atmosphere. Can't speak for the full menu but I can say that the full English breakfast is particularly good.

Enjoyed a great organic salad for lunch and my husband opted for a sausage sandwich. Great food and service. We often pop in at lunchtime for an informal meal.
