"Though I had a short time here, less than 30mins, so far it's one of the best and favorite places because, Accessibility♿ friendly with wheelchairs entrance, parking, a nice place at the lounge area with wheelchairs♿ signs on the seats, electric elevators, Ramps with wheelchair signs all over the station, Clean restroom also Accessible with wheelchair signs"
"Sgr terminal in miritini mombasa is on the outskirts of town Beautifully building modern terminal with great sights and beautiful gardens surround it Access by public means is a bit of a hustle as access only psv are allowed in the parking lot Private cars however on the other had is a breeze"
"State of the art railway station in the outskirts of Mombasa City in Kenya"
Be prepared to be treated like a criminal as soon as you arrive.. they direct you to a line to wash your hands (fine) then they direct you into another one, you line up and place your luggage on a ramp along with everyone elses, a military man speaks to us like we're part of the army and then two rounds of dogs sniff your luggage, after they rush you into an xray machine for luggage.. and after that... you line up again and go thru another one, all luggage pilling up because while everyone's bags keep dropping on top top of the other the security scans your body with their metal detector, everyone was military style in that station and I regret coming instead of just booking a bus ticket.. treating civilians like they're part of the army. Extremely rude customer service. Will avoid in the future, avoid if you don't enjoy being treated like a suspect. After leaving my bag in the compartment and going out of the train to speak on the phone, a military man with a giant automatic machine came to me to ask what was I doing simply for standing outside.. Besides that, no wifi, no chargers and the most uncomfortable seats I ever sat my #ss in. Terrible experience.. I honestly don't understand who is rating this place and service.
A very nice scenery. Take a trip to the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi, from here daily at 9am using the Madaraka Express train, a 5hr journey. Or Alight here from the train from Nairobi at 2pm daily. Checking in into the train takes about 20minutes, so be there early. And retain your ticket as you will need it to check out in Nairobi Siokimau Station. The reverse journey also holds To reach this place in the morning, you need to: a) request a taxi online from wherever you are. Estimate from Mombasa town is Ksh.700 as at the time of this posting b) board a matatu near the old railway station before 730am at Ksh100 c) board a matatu to Miritini at Nowal Center in cbd Ksh.50, followed by a motorcycle or 'tuktuk', from Miritini to the sgr station ksh.50. Then walk down the beautiful valley scene to the checkpoint d) use other means
Though I had a short time here, less than 30mins, so far it's one of the best and favorite places because, Accessibility♿ friendly with wheelchairs entrance, parking, a nice place at the lounge area with wheelchairs♿ signs on the seats, electric elevators, Ramps with wheelchair signs all over the station, Clean restroom also Accessible with wheelchair signs. Nevertheless, crews to help push the wheelchair onto the train. Security ☑️ Safety dividers ☑️ Washing hands compulsory Masks wearing compulsory too , Temperature ️ check a must The serene environment ♻️ , clean and inclusively Accessible. Highly recommend using the SGR for the above reasons and also it's the best environment especially when you have children , it's faster and safer, safe travel .
Sgr terminal in miritini mombasa is on the outskirts of town Beautifully building modern terminal with great sights and beautiful gardens surround it Access by public means is a bit of a hustle as access only psv are allowed in the parking lot Private cars however on the other had is a breeze. Pay your parking ticket and you are in Security is top notch, if you are used to western security then this might come as a shocker as airport security does not match this Passenger only access with lots of restrictions on items eg perfumes and alcohol on some occasions There state of the art escalators and waiting bay Of course there are different waiting bays for first class and economy class passengers
State of the art railway station in the outskirts of Mombasa City in Kenya. A person passes through 4 check points. 1. Dog section 2. Scanner 3. Receipt cum scanner 4. Biometric receipt scanner. It has waiting bays in the ground and 1st floor. Boarding is done on the second floor. The building is fitted with lifts, escalators and stairs. The lift is mostly used by the physically challenged and first class customers. The building is state of the art which utilize natural lighting. For those with heavy luggages there are wheeled carriages.
Train was delayed by an hour and when the boarding time comes, we are all rushed yet it's their fault. The food outlets there have doubled their item prices. It's better if you buy your food and snacks from outside. No alcoholic drinks are allowed into the station. But you can purchase your alcohol from the alcohol stores in the station. Def overpriced. No social distancing in the train Or anywhere in the station. Travelers are just advised to sanitize and where masks at all times. I didn't like my experience there.
Its located in miritini off changamwe area few minutes from moi international Airport. There is available digital taxi like uber, bolt, little cab etc and local taxi . Also there are different restaurants inside the premises that offer variety of different food stuff and beverages. Per day there 3 different type of trains going and coming in to and out of mombasa. They leave mombasa at 8 am,3 pm in the afternoon and 10 pm in the evening and arrive at 2 pm,8 pm and 3 am morning
Mombasa Terminus is a railway station on the Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway located in Mombasa. The station is located in a suburb of Mombasa called Miritini. The architecture of the station building is made up of concentric circles and a central tower, representing a ripple in the ocean. This station is also an attraction to local tourists and visitors from East Africa. The place is clean and organized though still running with Chinese management
The station itself is okay. The security is commendable - even better than the local airports! The lounges are quite spacious, the washrooms are clean. However, it is quite far from Mombasa town centre and it might be a hassle to get to the station, more so if you are using public transport. The parking area is also poorly controllled and often gets quite chaotic during peak hours.
Modern facility that's spacious and functional. Arrive early for it takes between 30 & 45 mins to go through the checks. Boarding gates close around 15 minutes before the train is set to leave. There's a small snack shop which gets crowded. So you may want to bring your own snacks which's allowed. A national identity is needed to verify you are the ticket holder.
The station is located on the ocean front just past the mombasa likoni harbour. To get to the station you need to ply a taxi, uber , tuktuk or private car... Public matatus dont get to the station. Ensure you arrive at least 30mins before departure time as you have to check in, print receipts having payed on mpesa platform and board train in time
Excellent design. Thorough security. Too far from main road. Accessibility is a nightmare. And the security limits those who want to ride into the main station parking. Worst location for train station. You have to spend more hours struggling with traffic jam to the station than the actual hours spent to ride to Nairobi.
Incredible train station meeting the current transport technology trends.Very impressive MEGA building to accommodate multitudes at hospitality of attendants and officials.Fitted with wheelchair Entrances lifts, escalators and in restaurants serving sumptuous meals.Good strategic location and easily accessible by road.
Wonderfully built, or is it constructed . The design is standard state of the art, found nowhere else. I love it's appearance. The attendants, security guys are all wonderful. However, food and water prices are a bit high, but I'm sure you'll enjoy being here, even if you'll just have a short stay. …
Located on the outskirts of Mombasa, it serves as the final destination for the much hyped SGR train from Nairobi. Travellers can book tickets to various stops along the Mombasa - Nairobi route. There are taxis, tuktuk and matatus that wait on traveller to take them to their preferred destinations
I'll give it a 4 star because this is amongst the best infrastructures in Kenya so far. The down part is the distance to and from town. The roads leading there are bad and traffic is in excess. If you plan to use it. Leave 2-3 hours ahead (from Mombasa) to make it in time.
Highly organised station. It's best to arrive like an hour before your departure to avoid the long queues at security checks and get enough time to print your ticket if you paid via MPESA. Make sure you keep time because the train leaves exactly when it says it will.
The station is far from the Island☹.. but there are buses and other forms of transport that are ready to ferry the train passengers to Mombasa. The Station is clean and organised. I was once late to board the 9 am train, and I got partial reimbursement of my ticket.
State of the art station, well organized, helpful and courteous staff guiding travellers at each point, clean. There could be separation of lines for first class customers and economy, plus addition of inland train from Miritini to Mombasa town.
Actually the place is good clean with good skilled attendants. What I can add to be improved is tickets printing machines in a hall with no any other Business this is because we are many printing tickets with limited duration due to travelling
Absolutely like clockwork excellent service very friendly attendant and good ambiance. It's always on time. Only setback is there is no cafeteria on the terminus thus you have to wait until the train leaves the station to get food water etc.
Decent train station. Outside it could be made a bit clearer where the parking place is, especially when you arrive when it's dark. A booked Uber will pick you up from there. It costs 100 kes to park there, even for just a pick up.
Road network is poor. If Your going u better leave early or ull miss the train. Also if you need to eat buy Food before starting your Journey there. Improve helpline services such as where to get the matatus heading to the place.
Train station terminal for going from Mombasa to Nairobi. Strictly security checking with Chinese dogs before you can enter the terminal than a security scan for your bags and finally a security scan again before you … Zaidi
Nice place, away from bustles of mombasa city centre. Clean facilities ie washrooms and the food vendors are not so agrressive compare to Nairobi terminus, specifically the first class lounge has enough space and seats.
Clean as usual. We still unfortunately have to stand in the rain as we await security checks. For the kind of money spent on the SGR Project, the security screening should not have come as an afterthought
Pathetic, get an electronic scanner to scan people or use elite who understands. Especially men who are searching others are dirty and no one can withstand the odour. So many scanning and searching areas
It's as beautiful as its counterpart in Nairobi, very beautifully designed. The security is top notch, with sniffer dogs, armed police and several guards who do a thorough checking of bags.
First time travelling by SGR...loved the experience, the breath taking view of our beautiful country...and most of all, the time saved. It took only 5 hours to get to Nairobi from Mombasa.
Good station. However for new travelers, it can be hectic knowing how to safely and efficiently leave the station as its located quite some distance from Mombasa island
Security is tight when checking in. The terminus is clean and tidy. I always find that it takes a longer time frisking passengers at Mombasa than Nairobi.
Lovely design, ample parking. You need to be there early if you're traveling to avoid last minute hiccups. Wish they'd have restaurants in the station.
SGR train station.. check in point. So well organized. Ample parking space. Enough waiting space for everyone. Elevators and lifts services available.
Only convenient for now if you are depa4ting the city of mombasa. But in terms of prosthetics and standards...it's a marvel and a ***** star terminus
Loved my SGR travel, neat, professionally organized and reasonably priced not to mention the courteous staff...something Kenya definitely needed.
Stylish design, clean washrooms, adequate sitting space. Affordable fares to Nairobi: Minimum $7 Maximum $30. A bit far from the island though
Too far for those commuting on foot and it would be a great idea to set up a coffee shop where travellers can get refreshments as they awaits
The lounge was crawling with roaches and I still don't understand why there aren't enough power outlets/ charging stations within the space.
Modern train terminus with beautiful facility, the architectural set is of a light, this is because it's near the Kilindini Harbour Mombasa.
A delightful and great experience. I felt like I was in another country. Be careful to obey the police instructions and park at right place.
The security is of first class. Everyone is trained to do to the best in his/her line of duty. I enjoyed every moment in the place. Keep up
It's an okay place, although Social distancing ain't applicable or isn't being practiced around the SGR terminus and the train itself
Smart and great architectural design. Efficient services. If you are hungry this place isn't the best to get food before your travel.
Very orderly & clean, would actually think you're in some European country..... hope it's kept that way... …
A well organized Railway station to board SGR; for those wishing to travel to Nairobi and watch wildlife at the same time using SGR
Always on time it has parking and the place a waiting lounge which can accommodate alot of people. Security is tight, and organized
Beautiful place by SGR. Problem when it rains, and your ETA is after 8PM; disaster. No public vehicles, water clogging everywhere.
This is a great thing that any government that loves her people can do to them. Thank you so much my great President. Love you big
Station is clean, but make sure u have enough food and drink before you go there as there is no restaurants to buy food or drink.
Good security, great waiting area escalators and elevators all in good working conditions, big parking lot too ... It's great
Efficient check-in with spacious chair cars in first class, this is a good option for travelling between Nairobi and Mombasa.
The terminus is cool and clean, but there are no shops anywhere in or near the station so bring snacks and drinks with you.
About 1000 passengers waiting to board the train, about 28 degress, no selling point of beverages in the all station!
As always everything flows very smoothly, from security checks, to ticketing, restaurants, and boarding the train.
Passengers are not allowed to bring alcoholic drinks into the train, but they can buy and drink at the terminus.
The view is spectacular. But why do only the first class passengers get to use a specific lift. Not fair at all.
Security excellent ,enough parking space and landscape its amazing keep it up all the staffs of Sgr miritini
Beautiful, organized, good security & serene. The staff always ensures you get a great traveling experience.
Basic ... their processes cab be better thought out to ease traffic flow and maintain customer service.
Safe for long journey, time conscious facility. Courteous crew. Seats are too hard and not comfortable.
It's a secure place with good service's and clean environment ,a good view of the hills and the shore.
Not a very bad experience though, Night commuters must be aware of muggers in the midst of touts.
A good experience for the one time I've used it so far. I'll say more after I experience more.
The government should consider constructing outside washrooms for taxi drivers & other users.
The train is comfortable and economical to use it for travelling from mombasa to nairobi
A nice place to chill before boarding your train... However, very few shops as at then
So hot the seats have some patches of rust and the food served is not that sweet
Nice station. Very big. A distance from Mombasa. You get to Nairobi from there.
Modern Railway Station. Comfortable seats. Would do well to start a restaurant.
A very nice place with public and private means of transport to Mombasa Town
Nice modern station, if they added food outlets, it would be so much better
Nice place great security nice cafeteria has a very friendly staff
Everything looks chinese there! Anyway, good and modern station.
Well organized but need trolleys to push luggage around.
Nice place but they should put fans or air condition
This Train Station is very beautiful and moderate.
First class gives more value... Business travel
hospitality at its level best! clean and fresh!
I loved the selfcheck in kiosks,it saves time
What a nice place, good customer care services
Well organized and good security check ups
A white elephant too far away from town!!
Slower than Nairobi but great services!
Clean and friendly staff. Well planned
Neat and clean and well designed
The place is nice and spacious
I had a very Great experience
Nice airy place.orderly
Nice place to visit
Great experience
Very good
