"It's been awhile since our last visit"
It was a gorgeous summer's day in Durban today. Brilliant sunshine and magnificent memories captured as the girls ran free in the Park . Sadly, the playground equipment is terribly abused by adults who are not allowed to make use of it , leading to broken and damaged equipment. Most are in desperate need of a repair and repaint. Nonetheless, small families were out in the dozens and it was good being amongst other parents who share the struggles of raising young children in the midst of a pandemic.
Whilst the gardens and play area are very well kept my heart was very broken to find that the play area for the disabled kids is neglected and very very filthy!! These children most especially deserve all the love and joy the world has to offer but this park tells a terribly sad story. Whoever manages this park should be fired ON THE SPOT. This is outright prejudice and incredibly heart breaking in comparison to how the rest of the park is kept so beautifully.
It's a nice place for the kids. It's reasonably clean, and semi looked after. It is feeling like it's being left alone more and more each year, though. Too many enclosures are under repair, and bathrooms are always less than adequately clean and working. One day, I'm hoping that they will fix up the ex Blue Zoo restaurant location. Still no tenant, and the ceilings are collapsing, leaving the whole location feeling more derelict than it should.

It's been awhile since our last visit. Beautiful flowers and plants like still adorn the park. It's unfortunate that Blue Zoo is closed, and the jungle gym there is abit unkempt. The bigger jungle gym in the park however is kept clean from litter and still in good condition.
Booked the bandstand for my sons birthday party and it did not disappoint. Great space with power and covered area for about 30 guests. The area is cheap and very popular, it is clean and the park is amazing. A definite consideration for kids parties or any other function.
Fantastic park to have a picnic or spend a few hours with the kids.lovely and green with a superb play area for the kids. Wild birds and small critters around when you eating a snack. They have the zoo just around the corner and a coffee shop as well.
Always enjoy Mitchell's Park for family outings. Play area for the kids, a section with picnic tables and benches, a band stand you can hire for a function. The only issue is nor ally parking but you eventually find a spot. Carpool if you can.
My 22 month old had a blast at the playground and the zoo. The park was clean and neat and so beautiful. It was filled with families and so much laughter and joy! This will be our Sunday hang out for sure
Really beautiful, various areas to sit with family, and a great, well-contained playground. There are a few dodgy street characters around though, but they didn't give us any trouble.
Beautiful place for an outing with friends and family...always busy and full so no fear too much...parking is ample too
Picnic area
Ample...only too much monkey disturbance
Stunning trees and flower beds. Children's play park a bit neglected, roundabouts cannt turn due to being stuck in the soil. The play park definitely needs some touch ups.
Fantastic time at picnic area, set up for yearly end ladies get together was awesome. Much fun was had by all. Barn Owl was helpful in set up and awesome coffee …
This is a place where the whole family can enjoy themselves, the kids can enjoy the zoo and play in park while the parents get to relax and picnic. Chilled vibes
Was a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. The maintenance is noticeable. Kids loved the playground with a variety of activities. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Worst it's ever been as a born Durbanite. It's pathetic. The Premier, mayor and city manager shud be ashamed to see Durban deteriorate like this.
Lovely place to go for a family outing. Has a nice Zoo. Unfortunately no braais are allowed.
Playground
Kids really enjoy the playground
Awesome place to take your family and friends, great place to hang out, only thing you need to get there early as parking is limited.
I am in a wheelchair and access to the park is very limited. Access to the market on the tennis courts was impossible …
