I took the 85 year old mother, two 13 year olds and the five year old, to Women Painting Women. I gave this exhibit four stars. Here is why: We are a family of artist, with all members present having exhibited art at one point or another In our lives. But I felt strongly that this exhibit should have had a deeper explanation on the graphic nature of a few works of art. I was walking into one of the exhibit rooms, the five year old had already entered, and quickly assessed the art, realizing quickly I would not be able to explain this to her. I grabbed her hand and gently guided her into another room. She looked up at me and I simply said, when you are older, I will take you into that room and we can enjoy those paintings. But right now, let’s look at some other things. I normally love the exhibits, but this one posed a little bit of a family challenge for the little one. Thank you Modern Art Museum for all the contributions to give our community.

Modern Art Museum has such a great exhibit of art! If you are in DFW area check it out!! Fridays are free admission as well!! Great for all ages and a new cafe just added for a nice lunch. Wondering why 3 stars? An employee at the museum that scans tickets presumed to be a little racist. He followed my parents and I around and had an attitude because I was supposedly too close to a piece of art I was admiring. The worker told me to not get too close in case I fall. I’m a grown woman that can hold her balance. There were other races at the museum who were closer to the art work and the worker did not say anything to those guest. Modern Art Museum please make sure you make all guest feel welcome. I know one bad apple doesn’t stop the show and there were other friendly staff at the museum. Please continue to respect all cultural ethnicities visiting the museum.

I am not really an art lover, but I was invited by my brother. He has favorite exhibits and paintings that mean a lot to him. I was impressed by the beautiful building and the staff. Then we started walking through the rooms. I saw paintings that made me emotional, curious, puzzled and lots of other feelings that I did not expect. My favorite exhibit was Jammie Holmes. After seeing that exhibit we walked around looking at everything else. I really wanted to see the work of Jammie Holmes again before leaving. I saw so many more things in the paintings I didn't see the first time. It was an amazing experience. I recommend visiting this art museum even if you are not particularly interested in this kind of thing.

This is one of my most favorite places to visit in Fort Wort. The Modern art museum, designed by the architect Tadao Ando, is a marvel. I would describe it as the most beautiful wall that ever hung art. It's incredible that simple materials like concrete, glass, and metal could be arranged in such a majestic but also serene way. And I'm sure some imagine the Modern is a "one time visit" kind of place, but I disagree. Depending on the time of day, the light coming in, transforms the atmosphere of the buildling. I didn't know congrete, glass, and metal could be so many different colors depending on the light hitting it. And the lake that hugs the side of the building, does a great job reflecting the beauty of the architecture. The lake is there to subtlety remind everyone, that this building, is art too.

My favorite museum in the area! Always fascinating and unique pieces of art. They do have certain days where tickets are cheaper, so I recommend ordering in advance to take advantage of those deals. Students also get discounts if they have their ID! I typically spend 1-2 hours here, though I spent longer my first visit. I’m no art aficionado, but I’m a big fan of this art museum and how they work hard to make it accessible to all through explanations of each art piece readily available. The sculptures and architecture are definitely highlights of this museum!

This is a perfectly fine museum. I appreciate many of the pieces but it always baffles me why modern art tries so hard and acts so pretentious. Too often there is some convoluted underlying meaning behind it, many with a title of Untitled. Why not let it just be a creative piece of art? I think art is supposed to be about personal expression, not a lesson in philosophy or social injustice. The viewer can attach their own meaning if they desire. Maybe the artist, dealer or curator does this to justify the expensive painting of just 3 dots? Or a fluorescent light? Not sure I'll ever understand why that's art. I did enjoy a few exhibits esp when I didn't read the title or story.

  • Melissa Smith

I hadn’t been to the Modern in a LONG time…and shame on me, because it was absolutely fantastic! Some really lovely and inspiring works…BUT NOT ALL completely behind glass. We really enjoyed taking in several shows, and then we enjoyed a meal at their restaurant, which was great, AND the works are begging to be discussed…which again was perfect during lunch conversation…plus the restaurant overlooks a beautiful pool of water, calming and again…a way of keeping all your senses engaged while AT the modern. I will absolutely be back ASAP!

I had a great time here. I saw the Takashi Murakami Exhibit there "The octopus eats its own leg". It was awesome. The cafe was great, with quality brunch and great service. Some of the people who worked there at the show (the staff that shows people around) were noticeably rude. They had no smile or anything and were giving off unfriendly vibes. The lady at the gate was not even offering floor maps to new visitors if not asked for. Overall a great experience and I will go back there. But please get mature staff like at the Kimball. These rude kids-staff on the floor belong to malls and fast food places.

Visiting MOMA in Fort Worth was amazing! The stunning architecture, exhibits and the captivating atmosphere created an amazing and memorable experience. From the moment I stepped in, I felt immersed in a world of creativity and imagination. MOMA showcased a diverse range of modern and contemporary art, leaving me inspired and in awe. If you are looking a fancy and confortable place for a special dinner, you must going to the restaurant and bar. They have a lake, that you can admire all the bulding. It is awsome. I've been to this muesum twice and I've loved it both times. They always have some crazy exhibit. Beautiful muesum, and it's in the middle of a bunch of other museums so you can visit so many things and make it a date or a fun day out! They have a small cafe located in this muesum. Its adorable and of course priced at what you'd expect. It is 50% on most sundays but suggest always calling or verifying online. This is a 2 floor muesum and has a beautiful outdoor area available via the cafe.

  • Cristin Martin

It's a gorgeous museum, especially with the reflection pond. The gallery attendants are informative and very helpful. The giftshop is one of the best giftshops I've ever seen, and the cafe is exquisite. There is one complaint: the permanent collection very rarely changes. I can understand keeping the signature collection on view, such as the Book With Wings.

I was in town on business and had a free afternoon. I really enjoyed their art collection. Some famous names and some greatlarge scale pieces. They were showcasing Robert Motherswell, whom I had not heard of prior, and his works was incredible! The way the pieces were arranged in the museum was very well done. Overall, a completely fantastic experience.

It is a great museum, especially in terms of it's architectural beauty. Surrounded by a small pond, the reflections of water create great shadows and lights on the ceilings if you are there at the right time of the day. Their permanent collection is small, but upstairs you also get to see some temporary exhibits. On Sundays, you get a 50% discount.

Fort Worth has a surprisingly good selection of museums and the Modern Art Museum is no exception. If you’re in town on the first Friday of the month, they have a free viewing in the evening with a happy hour with snacks and drinks available for purchase. There is also a cafe with full service bar, which makes having brunch and browsing the museum a great weekend activity.

I really like the restaurant at the Modern, the food is fresh and tasty. They have a great selection and good drinks. Im a fan of their shistos, they are not covered in anything, just some light flavoring. Their quinoa is addicting. The best part is being able to walk off your meal by visiting the museum. Especially on their free days. The restaurant can be a bit pretentious but with the great views and delicious food, i can handle ;)

  • Kevin Shim

Museum designed by Ando Tadao. Good layout with some hidden passageways to keep exploring the space interesting. Even if you’re not a fan of modern art, it’s worth visiting for the building and the tranquility it offers. There is a restaurant attached to the museum, so go ahead and get some drinks afterwards.

This museum is great! They had pieces from well known authors such as Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol! The rest of the art was obviously carefully and thoughtfully chosen. It was a delight to see! The parking was plentiful and free. The price was more than reasonable at ten dollars per person (students and military get a great discount). If you enjoy art, museums, and/or art museums, then I strongly recommend you check this place out!

  • Ali Saremi

KAWS, Andy Warhol, and Takashi Murakami. You can find their work, alongside many more, at Modern Art Museum or Fort Worth. This museum is the best art museum I have been to in North America, and I’m not exaggerating. Their collection is unreal, it felt like a dream as I was going through their galleries.

The problem with modern art in general, which wholly applies to this museum, is it falls into its own pretentiousness. Much of it cannot be understood and does not appear to be aesthetically pleasing. Where have we fallen as a society when art hundreds of years ago is much more beautiful? The museum could use a change of name and some classic pieces. The only thing that was nice was the ladder and a painting of animals.

  • Thunnus Scombridae

This place has some of the most wonderful settings for the art inside and out. Contemporary architecture, atmosphere that morphs room by room, piece by piece. The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth curates the space as much as the art, encouraging contemplation in the best of ways. Make sure to visit the bar & cafe. Skye is one of the best bartenders I've ever had. The staff were all great.

  • Lisa Kline

First Friday is a great way to get introduced to the Modern! All the people who work there are so nice, helpful and offer tips or art details. It's a beautiful venue! Only down side was the crowd but even the patrons were nice. I'll definitely be back!

The architecture alone merits a visit, as it was designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadau Ando . The moat at twilight reflects the blue glittering words of the site-specific Jennie Holzer, which is aptly named Kinda Blue. You can see it from across the grounds outside the restaurant even when they’re not open. BTW the restaurant is also fabulous and shouldn’t be missed.

Amazing place, the building is stunning, the art, the permanent exhibition, the location, parking, the mirror pool...... you can go every weekend and enjoy a quiet place just to take a break from daily life, floors are hard so wear some comfy shoes. Enjoy the place, its beautiful. Usually free on Sundays but thats about to change for the summer, check the website.

Half price admission Sunday! What an unexpected blessing. Had a quiet walk through the exhibit and explored the amazing installment of Sean Scully: shape of ideas. Looks like my significant other got the idea to propose here along the catwalk upstairs! Wow! Memorable and peaceful experience! Would definitely come back and view different people's work.

A beautiful museum. I’m not an art museum expert, but I enjoyed the beauty and serenity of this place. It is big, too. I kept thinking we were at the end of the building and then we would find another door/hall/turn to more. We spent a couple hours in it and did not see it all.
