I have tried to contact Mollies privately about this issue via instagram dm's, however to no response i will post what i said on here: "Me and my partner went to Mollies tonight (10/2) and have mixed reviews. On one hand, the service was really nice and inviting. However, we were disappointed at the lack of transparency the bar had with its times. There was no clarification when the show started, nor when the restaurant closed, on the website or social media pages. Additionally, there were no times/warnings stated in the restaurant to when the shows were to start/ when the restaurant was to close. I know things don’t always go to exact times but it can be quite inaccessible to people such as myself with autism and my partner with ocd, where we want to be at the show to support the queens but can’t because of this lack of transparency we could not. Additionally, as people not local to the area, this was a bit of a let down. As said before, the staff were not to blame at all as they were lovely to be around, we are just dissatisfied with the management decisions. Mollies seems to have an inviting atmosphere, however due to this inaccessibility i cannot recommend.

Went to this place on a Friday afternoon was hungry so I order some food and drinks. I'm not one to complain about food, I just need anything really. I had a pizza and arichini balls the pizza was so dry I couldn't eat it. the cheese was terrible it was hard to cut up it was probably the worst pizza I've ever had the arichini balls are dry and not proper arancini balls the rice was so bad on the inside I had to spit it out. I complained to the bar person. didn'teven get an acknowledgement she just nod and continued I found it very rude and displeasing so I had to leave. The people working at the bar were drinking and socializing with their friends at the same time I really don't think it's appropriate for bar staff to drink while they're working. With the level of customer service I got from them and the quality of food I would not recommend this place to anyone

  • Rex Cross

Most certainly a "local bar for local people" not at all welcoming to anyone outside of the cliques that occupy it. However, this is probably just the Sunday vibes, I trust on more premium nights it attracts a much more diverse crowd and the staff are much more upbeat. Poor babe behind the bar could not be more miserable if she tried. Makes me concerned for how the staff are treated? Not setup for food, despite what seemed to be quite an offering, so unless you're willing to balance your food somehow and eat standing, don't bother. This place has so much potential, but if you're coming from another western country and big city, rewind your queer clock about 20 years, which actually makes this place a queer retro gem!

You can make a booking but that doesn’t matter apparently because they won’t fit you in… disappointing. A friend made a reservation for a watch party for a tv show and on arrival the experience with the bar staff was great, we requested a close up seat due to having a friend with sight issues which they said they were happy to work out. Then it came time to be allocated a seat, we watched all the up front areas be filled, then the middle sections, we tried to speak to someone but kept getting ignored. We were then told by bar staff to sit in one of the spare seats in the back corner, pointless for the person with sight issues! We walked out. Try to support the community but they don’t support you.

While on a city escape with the kids we happened upon here while looking for somewhere to eat. Super funky place with people that very obviously enjoy where they work (and I understand why as I work in a similar establishment with similar entertainment). They didn't get mad when one of the kids spilled their drink and were just good value as a whole. Food and drinks were top notch. We left before the entertainment, but we'd definitely come back for a show, sans kids. Thanks for a great afternoon/evening!

We visited this venue last night, a member of our group got up and danced while the drag queen was performing (Not up on stage, just out of her chair). After being told off by the performer, she then took her seat. The member of my group was then berated by the host and we were ushered out by security. Such a heartbreaking and disappointing experience for queer people who work, eat and love on Smith street. Not to mention the anti lesbian comments made by patrons. Super disappointing. Would never recommend this space for any queer women.

This is such a fun place! Drag shows upstairs and a club downstairs, you can find something to do here in a safe space with like-minded people. Or just chill and drink - your choice. The drag roulette and drag bingo were my favorite at this place!

We went here on a Friday night for a screening of RuPaul's drag race. A friend attends each week's screening and has a table booked in perpetuity. We arrived and it was packed - the system for getting to your tables could be much improved. Pints were $5, which for a Friday night is great value. I got the vegetarian burger and I was thoroughly underwhelmed. It was a vege patty and there was also a fried mac'n'cheese patty - which was totally unnecessary. The chips were tasty, but there was no sauce!

Was super excited, Uber’d out just to go to Mollies. Unfortunately it took forever for the show to start, to the point we’re the couple behind us left and so did we. I know drag shows are a night time thing, but don’t have 6, 7 or 8 as booking times and not mention anywhere that the show doesn’t have a specific time and starts likely around 10. Staff were lovely tho and food was ok.

Was very excited to attend the eurovision night held here this Sunday. However, during the night I went to buy a drink for me and my two friends. The total was $42 for three standard spirits that were clearly watered down - a total rip off and it really let the night down. Even if the drinks weren't watered down, this still would have been overpriced. To anyone who's thinking of coming here, please think twice.

On night 1 we waited too much for the show and just left. Someone was late. On night 2 a friend from Brazil got racial-profiled and wasn't allowed to enter because of his skin color. Six people had to leave the bar because he was left outside. The drag queen at the entrance was gatekeeping that night, but surely not girlbossing. She got fired soon later, or that's what we were told.

I thought this was a welcoming place but apparently not. A friend got left outside by a mean drag queen in blue for NO reason and ruined his night. She literally grabbed him by the shoulders and told him he doesn't belong there. Disappointing especially during pride. NOT coming back and I don't recommend it to any diverse or vulnerable people cause the management is on a power trip.

This is the best LGBTIQ+ bar in Australia. Incredibly welcoming atmosphere, unpretentious food, excellent entertainment and they support local performers entertainers, both upcoming and experienced, to hone their stagecraft many nights of the week. The decor and ambiance are great and it’s wonderful to have this as a fun and relaxed venue for our community to be our authentic selves.

  • Jack Dodge

Bartenders were cute and service was good, but just kinda left sad when we left without getting messed with/even looked at. Also we didn't win (which is no one's fault) but just kinda felt like we got drunk and went for nothing haha. I think we were literally the only table that didn't get messed with though so we left sad, and it would be beneficial to try and reach everyone.

My absolute happy place! Fantastic vibes, entertainment food and drink! The drink and food deals are excellent and the quality is amazing for the price! A really fun place to go with a big group, sing along and be happy! A must order is their espresso martini’s and the mac and cheese croquettes! ( the are INCREDIBLE) All the love to the staff and queens they are all the best!

Had not been out for a Sunday session since life before Covid and what a fab place to have broken that drought at...laid back venue, $15 jugs of beer (90's prices), prompt friendly service and just a generally cruisy vibe about the place...will be making it my go to on a Sunday arvo for sure …

The drag shows are always entertaining. There's a few friendly people behind the bar as well as a few sour and rude people. The toilets are always pretty dirty as well towards the middle of the night out. But looking past those always a fun night out. Miss Jay is a fabulous hostess.

Had the best Satay Chicken Skewers I have ever had. They were perfectly cooked and came out quickly despite how busy they were at the time. Baby Drag on Thursdays is a popular evening, definitely worth booking ahead, particularly if you are going as a group.

Great drag Queens, tasty food and drinks but very uptight crowd! Most people spent more time looking at their phones and sitting motionless at the tables provided than getting up to dance. In London clubs everyone would have been up having a great time.

If you're looking for drag, drinks and diner style food this is the place. Doesn't hurt that sircuit is right below so you can go throw up everything you ate on the dance floor. Great place to catch drag race, but you probably need to book beforehand.

Pretty good food, reasonably priced drinks and usually a show or event happening. It's a great place for a casual drink or a laugh with friends. The smoking deck can get a little hazy with smoke as it's only half open to the sky. Worth checking out.
