Montagna Cafe Greeted us with friendly and attentive staff with a warm and cozy atmosphere. We started with Arancini Balls(special) and Wedges. Wedges were great, crisp, fluffy and seasoned well. Aracini Balls themselves lacked flavour and both my wife and I wanted a bit more from the risotto inside however the creamy garlic sauce they came with was fantastic and I made sure that plate was clean. A little more salt/mushrooms or time will make this an ace in the hole. Moving onto mains is when it started to drop. My Wife had the Montanga Calzone and enjoyed it throughly, the base was deliciously chewy and the fillings plentiful and fresh. I found the rose sauce a bit too sweet but My Wife loved it. The tuscan supreme pizza and Barramundi were on my side of the table. The tuscan pizza had a great balance of the salty anchoives and the sweet prawns however the addition of ham made it taste cheap and like the ham and cheese pizza i'd get in bulk as a child. Barramundi needed more seasoning and whilst cooked well (crisp skin, flakey flesh) just didnt have the taste I was looking for and have had better elsewhere. Unfortunately the accompanied hollandaise did not taste creamy, eggy nor seasoned but instead just of whipped butter. TLDR; Staff and atmosphere is great Starters and Entrees where pretty good Calzone was good according to my wife. Pizza is fast food styled going for quantity over quality Fish may be frozen tasted like it had been poached before grilling

Have been coming to this Cafe loyally for well over 10 years. Unfortunately under new ownership it's gone downhill rapidly. Every time visiting now is a new issue. Ranging from 50min wait for a Bacon and egg roll, staff being dishonest passing off new smaller mugs for "same size" coffees, food quality is hit and miss, actual Cafe itself now seems to have so many issues. We were told blinds couldn't be opened for fresh air as they were broken... heaters, "not working". Lights out front, "not working". Sitting out front in darkness. One night came in for dinner and the smell of gas was so overwhelming my 70yo mum & I needed to sit outside in 7° weather (without heating). Indoor lights flickering like strobe lights for nearly 2 weeks, not fixed, and every time new staff and seem to have absolutely no idea about anything when asked about something simple. Drinks seem to be out of stock regularly, last visit couldn't even order one simple drink from the girl behind the counter as another staff appeared to be talking her through what she was doing OVER the top of me trying to order. I was asked to repeat myself four times only to keep getting talked over each time?? Just for everything to be out of stock, and then the replacement she offered didn't even know what it was. So frustrating and awkward nearly just gave up and left. Would be really disappointing to see this Cafe go under, please improve.

Food is generally nice and pretty reasonably priced. Staff are friendly but their management of table orders is pretty ordinary. The last few times we have dined here, our meals have all come out at different times. Today was particularly bad with the first meal coming out ten minutes before anyone else’s, then one meal being sent to another table. Half an hour after the first meal came out we enquired about the last meal we were waiting on. The waitress informed us it had been sent to another table and another would be out soon. The remaining meals were finished by this point so we asked for a refund. Another staff member came out to give us our money back and apologised but did not sound very sincere. If they just kept table orders all together perhaps everyone could get their meal at the same time and eat together, as is generally desired when you choose to eat out with family and friends.
After a long time of absence, I went today to the Montagna Café for lunch. General attendance was less than I was used to before Covid. I ordered Chargrilled Cone Bay Barramundi with potato wedges, Greek salad & bearnaise sauce. It was the smallest piece of barramundi I ever had anywhere, the potato wedges were ok, the salad contained a small decaying leaf (I hope the kitchen has seen it when the plate was returned) and the bearnaise sauce looked as when it was put on the small dish days ago. $28 is most certainly too much for the small serve.
Parking ok this time (AM Sunday) but difficult normally. Now under new ownership, there may be some teething problems… Went for breakfast with a group - Everyone who ordered bacon had it cremated. Disappointing!

Ordered a flat white and egg Benny this morning, our coffee and meal came out fast , egg were perfectly poached! toast toasted beautifully, nice golden brown colour. Staffs were very nice and friendly and with professional manner. They are very helpful and willing to answer questions while they are flat out. Big thumbs up for them! Price are also reasonable! Highly recommended.

Great location however tired decor and serving ware. ..... mason jars!?! Chose the salt and pepper calamari salad from an otherwise "heavy" menu. The calamari was oddly thick cut and served in over abundance with not a hint of salt or pepper. The salad consisted of warm lettuce, cucumber and chunky cut onion and capsicum made bland by a scant splash of balsamic glaze. I can't fault the quantity but would suggest quantity would be a better focus.

I went to the cafe for the first time for a colleague’s farewell. It was really kind of the chef to come to us to let us know the meat in the menu is Halal. Since then I’m there every other day, enjoying delicious food. The waiters there are very friendly and helpful. They always note down my dietary preferences and make sure my food is not contaminated with alcohol and pork (as I don’t consume those). Great service.

The position is great . The young waitresses are delightful. However the manager / slash owner treated these girls appallingly in front of customers. To the point that one of our interstate guests felt the need to defend them . This is the 2nd time we’ve had a bad experience due to this woman’s unprofessional behaviour. No staff should be treated this way . Take note & improve your attitude. Those girls were very polite & charming .

Came here tonight, ordered the porterhouse steak. I have to say that was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, even the dressing on the salad was perfectly balanced, everything about my meal was perfect, the wine was also wonderful and went down easy, then I ordered the brownie Sunday, absolutely perfect. I'd highly recommend here. Absolutely amazing food and the staff are very friendly and well kept premises. Well done to the owners for such a lovely restaurant.
outstanding breakfast experience with straightforward and delicious dishes, free from unnecessary garnishes, extravagant sauces, or complex ingredients. I had the full breakfast that comes with toast. I asked them to swap cream cheese for mushrooms, which was done without a hassle providing a satisfying and filling portion. Service was great. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We had Mothers day breaky this morning. Apart from a small opening timing glitch the meal and service was awesome. New owners I understand. Good value for price paid along with coffee and quality. If I can make a small point. Maybe consider buying some nice bacon from Coromandel Valley meats which is not far from you . The stuff you have is bland. But that's me. My wife also impressed with your Mothers day treat. Well done Chris and Helen McGrath
A reliable and regular stop before shopping or for a quick nosh. Hardly cutting edge or hipster central, but it has a cosy family feel and you can sit comfortably sipping not bad coffee and pretty good food. The sort of place every suburb should have. Unpretentious and friendly. If you're looking for the latest trends in paleo-vegan-raw-superfood then this isn't your spot. But otherwise, take the weight off your shoes and order the wedges.
They made me pay $10 corkage for a non alcoholic bottle of wine I brought byo because they don't have many non alcoholic options on their menu. Food was average. $20 for carbonara. If you want good Italian pasta and pizza in the south of Adelaide look on Google reviews for restaurants with a rating above 4.5 stars. This restaurant is not rated very high in comparison with other restaurants in the area for a reason.
Very disappointed. It was the second visit, both times the meals were not right. The first time the wrong schnitzel was served and today the mains came before the entree. No action was taken to correct this. We had to rush to eat everything warm. At checkout, the Manager, must be the owner, did not even try to make good. Very disappointing. We like to support local business, but not that restaurant anymore,
I’m aware the owners have changed hand and came in for a coffee before church, I noticed the $16.90 lunch specials and came back after church with my mum. My mum is coeliac which they catered well for. Both our meals were delicious, fresh and of great size. Highly recommend. Service was fabulous both times.

Had dinner with my wife and son late yesterday afternoon. Wife had chicken snitzel and son had fish and chips which were both nice. I however had the lasagne which was the worst one I have ever had. It was microwaved baby food mush with virtually no pasta sheet and about an inch of cheese on top. Had 3 mouthfulls and gave up. Extremey dissapointed and left hungry. Won't be back.
Enjoyed an amazing brunch at this lovely Cafe on a Sunday morning. Friendly staff and a huge serve of delicious food. Well worth dropping in there for a meal. Plenty of parking and a choice of sitting inside or in the sheltered outdoor dining area

If you want to sit on a cup of coffee for an hour or two or enjoy a delicious meal with a quality wine, Montagna Cafe always delivers. I’ve been a regular for a quite a while now - it’s a warm and welcoming locally owned cafe in Blackwood offering a delicious menu, a nice glass of wine and great coffee all served with a smile - it ticks all the boxes - highly recommended.
MUST TRY THIS PLACE! Absolutely fantastic service and beautiful food! We were on our way to another cafe that had been recommended but found them closed due to hot weather conditions so we found the next place near by that looked air conditioned and we came apon this gem! Honestly really lovely! Well done guys! Definitely our new spot!
We both ordered a pasta meal. 10 other customers came after us, they got all there meals before us. Staff went out front door and upstairs to get food all in plastic containers? When our meals arrived pasta tasted like clag, not happy, spoke to staff at counter when paying and explained the situation, no answer. Very disappointing.
They helped us order some things that weren't on the menu for my very particular miss 8 year olds birthday. And they didn't charge us the world for it. While making her feel included, and the process simple. The food was yummy and the service was great.

Disappointing experience. Walked in wasn’t overly busy, my group of 4 wasn’t acknowledged and we showed ourselves to our own table. Waited over 15mins whilst seated. Still no service in sight. Walked out and took our money elsewhere. Wouldn’t spend my money there if it were my last meal on earth.
Good food and they were happy to help out making breakfast at dinner for one of my kids. Rae the proprietor is a really nice lady. And they have heaters outdoors, which was handy for my two old friends from Newcastle.

Had a fantastic brunch here with my family over from Ireland. There were only suppose to be 4 adults and 2 kids but ended up 6 adults and 3 kids. The girls that were working on the day were so friendly and smiley. All the food came out together and tasted fantastic. Coffee is pretty good too!
Excellent and extensive cafe style Menu with affordable Lunch specials. The Lamb Yiros served on Pitta bread is to die for! Pizzas are fully loaded and full of flavour. An extensive range of pasta varieties and sauces are available. My personal favourite is Spaghetti Puttanesca.
My family and I have just had a first. Summarily ejected from a cafe for politely asking whether they would serve drinks that had been paid for. The principal at this establishment has a lot to learn about customer service and she is passing her ignorance on to her young staff.
Great coffee shop! Staff is always helpful and friendly and the coffee is great, especially the cold brew. The outdoor seating is perfect when the weather’s nice. It is in the street which has the best Montagna Cafe In the state of South Australia. Thank you
Didn't get to have mothers day lunch. Was told to wait outside for 15 minutes then come back. Have cancer and needed a chair and drink. Was still told to leave and comeback. In all the years of working in hospitality I have never asked a customer to leave for any reason.
Great coffee, excellent service. Food was terrible, burnt chips flavourless salad & burnt chicken schnitzel. Complained got a refund so all good.reason for the review is the chef just laughed and shrugged his shoulders. Just not proffesional, every customer is important.
Rather disappointing. Too many flies hanging around making it difficult to eat. My pasta was under cooked. However, the staff were very attentive and friendly. I did provide feedback regarding the pasta though. The service was good and the size of the meals were large.
Gave this place a second chance after the first experience they forgot my meal . Really wish we hadn’t. Food was just dreadful my 12 year old daughter can cook breakfast better, not to mention overpriced for what they offer. Don’t waste your money. Go elsewhere
Unfortunately had to give a 2 star review for this cafe. My partner and I ordered a pizza, everyone else on our table received their food but we did not. This was about 30min into ordering then asked the waitress if ours was on its way was
Really enjoyed the char grilled samon served with sweet potato mash, brocollini and char grilled sweet corn. Yumm. Enjoyed every bite. Service staff friendly and polite and the coffee was great. Will definitely be coming back. …
This is a great local Blackwood restaurant. The staff are happy & helpful, and the service & food are always great. The Monday steak-nights,Tuesday pizza nights & Wednesday pasta nights are great value! Good value BYO also.
I am surprised by the negative reviews I've read. They do not fit with my experience at all. We walked in and ordered and were served in no time. The vegetarian pizza we shared was amazing and not oily at all.
Situated in the scenic centre of Blackwood, the atmosphere at Montagna is rivalled by few. Quality meals are the usual but a recent menu change has axed some fan favourites and lowered the overall score.
Garlic pasta was very runny. The sauce should have been cooked down more

After 10 years of service that has been getting worse and worse we are done...This place was so good but like all good things, they come to a end. I think 2020 will be the last year of Montagna.
Usually a good meal. However last night the reef n beef was a let down. Still tasted great but the steak was very average quality with fat all through it as well as small. Very disappointed.
Food was a bit disappointing. Staff were excellent, helpful and chatty. Refreshing change from most other places with uninterested staff.

Brilliant fresh gourmet food without the price tag. Love this spot for a quick lunch or coffee. Always a warm spot to sit in winter or a cool spot in summer. Coffee is amazing.
We arrived at 8am for breakfast on Saturday to be told kitchen dose not open until 9am, but we could get a coffee. The website dose not say thus, just a small note on the door.
Service was amazing and food was delicious. Friendly staff & Very accomodating to dietary requirements. Lovely dog friendly atmosphere outside. Definitely will be back! …

Had a great chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Served by two friendly staff. A good dinner out for sure. Also had a open yiros sandwich a few weeks back. Delicious.
We go here once a week for a brekkie or a really good cheap lunch. Amazing food but large portions are not good for the waistline! Friendly staff and a great location.
Lovely staff, nice spot, good food, good coffee. The only negative is that there are only 2 or 3 vegetarian options and no vegan options. Otherwise, would recommend.
Ordered Garlic prawn pizza. $28 for 12" Small prawns, way way way too much sauce. Less sauce & more prawns I would of been happy. $28 was too much for what we got.

One of my fave local places. Rae, Reece and all the staff are great. Had one of the best pizzas I have had in ages and delivered to our door. Thanks so much guys!
Lunch specials are great value and very yummy. Nice location and pleasant outlook. I try to eat lunch there at least once every time I visit from Melbourne.
Good baristas, good service, free tap water during heat stress. They honour Anzac day traditions (lest we forget). Open 8-8pm 6 days a week, Sunday 8-3.
Dissapointed. I visited here a few years ago and had a delicious foccacia and chips. Came back today whilst in the area and no longer serving. Sadface.
Strange hours, nearly $30 for a snitty!! Only one choice of pasta? They used to do killa calzones but not anymore. Weird type of Cafe. Nice people but
My favourite cafe in Blackwood. Awesome lunch specials, and probably the best salt and pepper squid I've had. Consistently great food and service.
I purchased an iced coffee but was disappointed that the milk wasn't even cold and there was no ice. I could have made s much nicer one at home.
Such a nice place to eat. People were lovely and kind, and I got the salt and pepper squid and it was amazing! Defiantly my new go to place!!
Great friendly service, food always predictably good. Mother does front of house, son runs kitchen and they obviously both enjoy their roles
Very happy with my vist loved the chilli poppers good customer service from all team will come back only down side is you cant spilt bill
Quantity not quality (big serves to compensate for mediocre food). Tables were dirty and staff just ignored them and didn't seem to care.
Had the bacon and poached eggs on toast for brekky. Great food and coffee, friendly staff but a tad over priced at over $20 I thought.
Great local cafe in Blackwood SA. Awesome coffee and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend you check out this great business !
My old local Cafe. Came here for the first time in 5 years today. Had an amazing coffee with some delicious food! Great prices!
Always good food, good service and polite wait staff. Very reasonably priced for the good quality - never had a bad meal there.
Come here after mtbing at craigburn farm. Bloody lovely breakfast menu. Great service and great coffee. Would highly recommend.
Very good staff excellent food and I wide variety to chose from would not eat anywhere else and would recommend it to anyone.
Great place for food & coffee. Very good friendly staff. Special night menus good also. Best local eats and caffeine fix.
Had to return my Hot Chocolate and ask for it to be remade, don’t think I’ll be coming back, really bad hot chocolate.
We have enjoyed the meals many times here. Modern venue with a decent menu, perfect for the casual lunch/dinner.
Coffee and food is good, but for a local cafe it's quite pricy. Good service, but decor could do with refresh.
Usually pretty good. Italian styled restaurant. Family friendly, good coffee, pizza is generally good also.
I have been here a few times and I've yet to find a fault. Lovely service, delicious food and a good price.
Been a few times. The food is always excellent....but the marinara...sensational. Really great value.
Good service, lovely food and didn't feel rushed at all. Highly recommended for a lunch time treat.
It's ok, not bad, not great. Won't blow your socks off, but won't give you good poisoning either

Great cafe good coffee and the chips there were delicious. Friendly staff and good deck area.
Not greeted at all, just advised x4 "we are closing in 1/2 hours just so you know" …
Not cheap. Mostly self service like most Australian cafés. Tiny coffee $3.80. Food is good.
Great food and great service. I go regularly. Recommend you try it. Very reasonably priced.
Friendly staff, best pepper sauce ever. Chips is golden crispy. Beef was perfectly cooked.
Excellent food and service, great staff, quiet atmosphere worth visiting …
Excellent service Excellent food Excellent male waiter. i love his haircut Excellent chef
Really good food and friendly staff, entrie sizes are actually pretty big too.
Burger was good. Boys not happy with hot chocolate. Generally good ambience
