My Room was dirty upon arrival. They're was still popcorn underneath one of the beds. I'm not talking about the middle of the bed underneath. I'm talking about at the edge it. This was crazy. I don't even eat stupid popcorn. The staff minded their own business. No one likes people being nosey and involving themselves in business that is none of their concern. The night staff member was an older gentleman who was polite and helped out when I ask for it. Also he answered any and all questions that I may have had. But because of the uncleanliness of the room I stayed in I have to give this sorry place only two stars. They would have deserve three or maybe four stars if they had properly maintained the room. Because in my opinion that is one of the biggest and most important parts of staying in a motel is your room and its upkeep cleanliness. so Econo Lodge please fire your room service staff and start over with a group of people that have pride in their work. I have to recommend you get on top of this before a major incident take place and lawsuits are filed next thing you know it may be rodents or feces left from a previous tenant now that would be a shame and a disgrace to your business. so because of my here in the room I was so looking forward to spending time in it yesterday. Unfortunately I will not be staying here for a good long while after my experience and have to be taking my business to your competitor. Just because of the cleanliness and sheer appalling state of the room. I expect a higher standard when paying over $100 a night. And especially from a name like Econo Lodge it used to mean something. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. Enclosing I hope you have a wonderful day and yet hopefully a better stay then I had.

Not impressed overall. Booking over the phone was ok. I was upgraded to a slightly better room cause the room I wanted was" available" but could not be booked cause other rooms were overbooked....??? Our room was mostly clean. We did find lots of hairs (mostly in the tub). The room was quiet (was one of the newly renovated rooms) Breakfast was what really turned me off this hotel. We were entitled to a continental breakfast that was until 10am. We made our way there at about 9:40 (I realize this is cutting it close, but I can easily east in 20 min). Upon entering the dining area we were quickly made aware they were closing at 10am and we acknowledged that we knew. Food area was set up in a "U" shape and we started at the one end with the drinks and moved to the breads and bagels. Their set up is deffinately not great...The bagel cutters were not with the bagels (had to find them back at the begging of the line), the utensils and crème cheese are at the end of the line (so you couldn't butter your toast or bagels while they were hot) and one of the 2 toasters did not work. We had been in the breakfast room only 5 min and the lady took away the waffle batter and started to clean up the waffle maker....It was only 9:45 at this point....we still had 15 min to grab our food. Needless to say we didn't get waffles.... In the end I had a bagel and my hubby had toast and we were done way before 10 (We tried the boiled eggs....they were old and gross). I then watched the employee close the eating room at about 5 to 10 while people we still grabbing a final drink or quick snack. Breakfast is till 10.......she should not have been cleaning up and closing down until 10, not to mention she was not very pleasant..... We will not be back.

Just want to make it known that in my two month stay, some of the staff were on a power trip. One staff member was belligerent and belittled me in front of the entire pool and lobby area because I took a water into the pool area. Also, After complaining at the front desk about service, I was walking out of the lobby frustrated and told a potential customer how awful the place was I received an eviction notice. I went to complain about the eviction notice and was told that they really had no use for me because the Oilfield Show was in town and they were going to make so much money. Along with all the little things I really feel this hotel should be avoided at all costs. You may survive one or two nights but don't book any long stays, there are way better places with staff that treat you right and the price is only a few dollars more.

  • Jay Reel

Upon going to check in the front reception the staff was very unapproachable. We altered our reservation that was done online through one of the managers over the phone. Let's just say they had no clue what was going on, lied on the phone, didn't do anything to provide any type of customer service to increase our quality of stay. They followed up 3 times on the hotel phone constantly trying to argue about the price of the room. It went from 40 more to 70 more to paying an extra 100 on check out. There was garbage and uneaten food all over the outside stairs and cigarette butts laying all over. The only bonus to this place was the room was average and the beds were good enough. I stayed here for the price but left paying high end prices.

  • Ryle Garcia

Service was horrible. I booked 6 rooms months before the day of my reservation under corporate rates. They contacted me ON THE DAY OF notifying me that they couldn’t honour these rates. Of all the hotels we’ve booked under corporate rates, this is the only hotel that gave us issues. I ended up having to keep this reservation because of convenience. One of the rooms also became flooded due to the rain, so our stuff became wet. They didn’t offer a new room, nor any sort of compensation. Only reason I give this hotel 2 stars is because breakfast was actually good, and our rooms were always made. There are no elevators. So it’s not very accessible if you need one.

  • Lorne M

Wow! What a surprise! Was apprehesive about staying here, because of the name and the cheap room price (just over $100- which is very cheap in Calgary). Our room comes with two queen beds, the usual big screen TV, but also a complete kitchen, with large fridge, stove and even the kitchen sink! Hotel had the usual, free WiFi, pool, hot tub and breakfast. No wonder the parking lot is full! Front desk was really helpful to! I have stayed in much less for $200 a night. Way to go Econo Lodge- my new go to in Calgary. Changed rooms to a king size bed, liked it so much I'm here for a week! Staff is amazing! Been so accomodating, can't say enough good things!

If I could give more stars I would but they don't have more to get lit up. I am gateful for this wonderful hotel. Nadim is a very nice and genorous man. He is very understanding and keeps the hotel in great shape for guests to feel calm and happy. Kulwinder is very bubbly and friendly. Devon is a very good asset to the company. I enjoy that the hotel is pet friendly. The hotel is quiet and clean. It offers a nice breakfast and a exercise room to build up the muscles. You can also go for a dip in the pool and also get into a hot tub to relax your pains and aches. Keep up the great work. You have a awesome hotel. Thank you, Darren Baron

We were staying there for a 2 day course. 1st night we stayed we encountered being bit by something. We went down to the reception and voiced our concern about bed bugs bites and they wanted to give us another room at the other end of the hotel. We said no, give us a closer room. They said they didn’t have one, but they did, right across the hall. Night #2 the next morning more bits. Complained to manager and they refunded our money for both nights. I don’t recommend this hotel as we have had to deal with all the aftermath of bed bugs.

The reason for 3 stars is that even though it was raining and 6 degrees celcius outside, we had no heat in our room. (They gave US batteries to change in the thermostat ourselves and didn't bother to check with us if it fixed the problem) it didnt fix the problem, but I was too tired to switch rooms as they offered. We ended up turning on the oven to heat up the room before bed time lol. And the carpet in our room was definitely in need of a vacuuming. Other than that, it was a nice hotel, nice pool, decent room (aside from the heat and floor) the bed was comfy and our room had a full kitchen which was nice.

  • Jessica Cesar

I stayed here back at the beginning of February. It was my first trip on my own so I was a little nervous. I'm not sure how they decided on which room I was in as I didn't have any special requests. They had me in the closest room to the main desk. I thought that might make things super loud and that I'd hear everyone checking in or out but that was not the case at all. I also felt very comfortable knowing that there was someone close by as I was there by myself for a few days. I didn't use the pool or hot tub and I only went to breakfast once. If I am ever in Calgary again, I will very likely return.

  • Risa Chan

Decent hotel. The beds were a little bit hard but decent room for the price you pay. The pools and hot tub are great. Hot tub was just warm and there is a kid pool and a regular swimming pool. There is also a small fitness center by the pool that has an eliptical and a bike. Breakfast included is decent as well with coffee, juice, toast, waffles and cereal. Ocasionally the room smelled like marijuana though which was a bit bothersome but otherwise good place. It is walkable distance from Chinook mall (about 10 min walk) and you can walk to Heritage station in about 15 minutes from here.

  • Jenn Lindsay

We were in the room three hours , it stunk, floors were dirty, we didn't notice until we turned all the lights on after smelling a nasty smell, we seen poop all over the blankets !!! We asked the front staff too switch us rooms, or give us our money back and they refused!! Unreal. Said they watched us on camera, we went outside for a few smokes! Told us, we should have complained five minutes after arrival. But we checked in at 1:30am we tried to go straight to bed but couldn't because of smell....complained after finally getting up and turning on lights to find the smell.

  • Kobra B

Ok this was the WORST stay of life at this hotel which should be called the DIRTY HOTEL after being moved 5 rooms our last room was Brand new our beds were still disgusting our sheets and blankets had blood, urine, puke stains on them!!!!!! We also found dirty laundry in the drawers and porno books under the bed.... i work in health care n took gloves n physically took the dirty stuff to front desk The girl at front desk was AMAZING to us her name was Jenna she said after all she witnessed with our stay she was quitting!!!!! This place should b SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

  • R P

Everything is good at this place. From the staffs to the look and comfort of this hotel and mostly the suites are awesome. Very friendly staffs and great atmosphere and location. Only little hic is that it could be even better with an elevator but, anyway don't have to go too high on the stairs and the stairs are very wide and secured. Breakfast room and continental breakfast with an adorable staff member always ready to help. Besides, great value for money and nice free parking lot. Loved it. Thanks to the whole staffs for making our stay even more enjoyable.

  • Simon Potter

The room was clean and well kept with some wear and tear in the bathroom but everything worked. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Room service was efficient and thorough. Breakfast was basic but sufficient, the staff were friendly and responded to a 'good morning'. My stay was comfortable, quiet with a good nights sleep. Good room AC. If looking for a straight forward economy stay in Calgary I would recommend this place.

Got a room for 10 days for work, breakfast doesn't start early enough to eat it, didn't offer laundry service (which is ok but would be nice considering I work all day and I would have paid whatever) go to operate the laundry and they didn't want to provide any of their laundry soap... 10 days, no breakfast, no weekly discount and not even a little bit of soap to do laundry. I need a extra week but I think I'll try my luck somewhere else. Side note rooms where decent, towels changed each day and location is nice.

  • Lisa Leo

Has to be one of my worst experience ever. When I booked the room I made it clear I had my service dog with me . We got changed from room to room bc other people on the floor where not happy about the dog. Then the final room we got the AC didn't work when we asked for two fans they said they only have one and when we asked for another room they said they were sold out which was a lie bc I went on line and rooms were available. Worst customer service ever. WiFi not working and I'm unable to do work .

  • Kelsey Ackerman

You get what you pay for. Our room was boiling hot. It did not appear that there was air conditioning in our room and if there was a fan it was not working, so we relied on our little window to try too cool us down - but it wasn't enough. We were still sweating even when we were lying down. The room itself wasn't too bad. I could see soap scum in the shower however. The breakfast was limited. The location is good however. If there was a working air conditioner I would consider staying again.

  • Jason Finnerty

Much better than expected. Excellent service, tasty breakfast, very clean rooms, and super-convenient location. Didn't expect to get so much for a pretty decent price in Calgary. Big suite with a kitchenette, fast wifi, and really comfy beds. Only complaint was there wasn't any hot water in the morning (water was ice cold.) Asked the front desk about it, and she said to let it run for a few minutes. After about 5 minutes of running, it got nice and hot - maybe really long pipes?

  • Dennis Leonhardt

We stayed there May 27,28 and 29th first 2 nights okay the 3rd night when we came back to the room we had no toilet paper phone front desk and they said that they had none. Turned on the tv and most of the channels not working phone front desk again and they said we where lucky to have the channels that we had. The continental breakfast was a joke. Talked to the front desk in the morning and she gave us $10.00 off our bill, big deal I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

  • Valerie Penny

Our room is nice. No carpet, comfortable beds, no problems with internet and the pool amenities are awesome. However there is no elevator (only really a problem when arriving and leaving) and the a/c doesnt seem to work very well. It feels as though the baseboard heaters are on in the bathroom and the main room heats up very quickly. The service has been too notch though! Overall I would absolutely stay here again. VERY close to Chinook Center.

  • Terena Gibbs

We stayed in a newly renovated king suite and it was fantastic for the price. Everything was clean, beds were comfy, air conditioning, mini fridge, microwave, coffee, iron, tv and complimentary breakfast and WiFi were included. Pool and hot tub were great after a long drive as well. Location was great. Close to Chinook mall, restaurants and gas stations. Easy to get to banff and downtown. Staff were very friendly. Would definately stay again.

  • renz joi atag

VERY VERY BAD AND POOOOOOR SERVICE!!!! Dirty Washrooms! We Booked 2 rooms and Stayed here for 5 days and they don't change the bed sheets. We always Lost Electricity in our rooms,.They never vacuum and sweep our floors., very untidy, garbage is on the floor and they don't pick it whenever they clean the room. Under the sofa and under the table is very dusty.. Breakfast Sucks. Hot Tub not Working. Worse Parking Lot, Doesn't have much space.

  • Francis Roy

To me it deserve a 4 stars, the staff was great, continental breakfast was included with my room and the price via online app was decent and made it well worth it. Kingsize bed available, decent size room with a fridge and microwave, very small size bathroom and weirdly designed room but overall it was all i needed. Pool and hot tub access. They are remodeling at the moment, looking forward to see the updated version of the rooms!

  • Steven Roderick

Great place to stay for the price. I only have one complaint and that is the lady with Blonde hair that works in the breakfast area. My wife and I found her very rude. She would sigh and roll her eyes at the sight of any small mess and would proceed to cleaning around you while you were still preparing breakfast and make you feel very uncomfortable.

This was the worst stay I've had in years. I am a medical patient, I prep my meds in my room. I was refused my deposit return because my room smelled. I was treated horribly by the male manager and he would listen to what I was say. It wasn't until my male traveling partner came in , after i was told to leave, that the male manger would even listen.

There was hair in our shower and the tables in the room were clearly unwhiped given the sticky stuff ontop of them (I pray it was spilt pop or coffee). Also, pillows and beds are tolerable at best. Aside from that staff seemed decent and towels were clean... however, likely will never stay here again, or any Econo Lodge for that matter.

Service was great and that was the end of the good. Room was terrible. Grey on grey colour scheme with no relief. Room was uncomfortable. God help you of you wanted to take a bath or rinse out a blouse Neither plugs worked. Should you want to get rid of the vinyl smell or the overwhelming perfumes from the cleaners used you are warned not to open the windows I could go on but you get the idea.

  • Nothing But Tires

I've had to deal with the owner on two separate occasions and their mentality is if you don't like it take your business elsewhere. The customer is not right even if they know they are. They just close an issue with if you don't like it you can take your business elsewhere. Also I firmly believe that they didn't treat us well because we were native. We had bad looks since we entered the place.

  • gary smallboy

Rooms were updated and clean. Was quiet and the staff were friendly. Staff were also helpful with where to find certain stores. Breakfast was good but could have had more than just starches, like yogurts or fruits or eggs. Pool was nice and large. Could have had some towels around though so that we didn't have to use the room ones. Overall pretty good hotel for a pretty good price.

  • Shabana Shaik

Econo Lodge...I stayed both in US and Canada. I had the experience of staying in Econolodge in Corpus Christi, TX for the first time during my US days. Since the service was good, I booked this when I moved to Calgary. Service is good and rooms are of decent size. When we decided to go for bigger room, the staff were lovely enough to check in into bigger room without any fuss.

  • Zane Binda

Alright hotel, price is again alright since it's definitely not the worst but at the same time could make improvements. Beds are a little hard on my back though the hot tub, pool, and fitness room are great features of this hotel. Decent breakfast every morning as well. Would recommend if you are on a Budget as it's close to public transportation and in a good neighborhood.

  • Josh Wells

Rooms do not have working heat control, only way to stay cool is to open a window. Asked front desk for help and they brought a fan. Night shift front desk was very commentating and handled it very well-but really a fan. Daytime front desk could use some training in customer service, but hotel rooms are cheap so you get what you pay for, nothing special.

  • Jordan Zunti

This hotel got the job done of being a place to stay but the walls were pretty thin and the floors were linoleum so the hotel room wasn't the coziest. The pool was okay, the hot tub didn't stay hot for long and the gym was just a 15x15 foot room with 3 peices of equipment. For a cheap hotel at least it had these ammentaties but definitely not luxurious.

  • Leandra Marshall

They will take cash deposit, if some thing is wrong, let them know right away. They will take care of it. We stayed in the Pacific Suite, was very roomy, quiet considering it's next to the road. Didn't get a chance to have the continental breakfast. The hot tub downstairs was not working, which sucked..... will stay again, good price for your stay....

  • Joe Goodell

Older hotel but rooms are clean and it was really handy to have a mini fridgeand microwave in our suite. Continental breakfast is what you would expect and is pretty standard. Good water pressure in the shower and bed is comfy. Overall, great value for the price and would recommend for a quick stay if you're not looking for anything fancy!

  • grappler99

This was Our second time staying here, stay a year ago for a cheer competition. Back again for another cheer competition, rooms are small with a few upgrades - new flooring and furniture. The breakfast was not as it was a year ago, they cheaper out on the breakfast. If going to stay here go eat else where for breakfast.

  • K D

The main building felt welcoming and looked very nice. The other wing of the building however is just a slightly renovated motel. During our stay the hot water in our section broke but they gave us a discount and arranged for a different room to be freed up so we could shower in the morning.

  • Audrey Dexter

I loved our stay at Econo Lodge. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a kitchenette which was great for our 8 day stay ,they have a pool and continental breakfast 7 days a week . Also close to shopping and nice resturants. Would definitely stay there again . Thank you very much .

  • Carol

Our room at Econo Lodge south Calgary was clean, spacious, equipped with a fridge, microwave and small kitchen sink. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed a quiet night. On the con side, included breakfast was adaquate although we would have liked an egg and some Yogurt. WiFi did not work.

  • Trish Scoville

Not happy that's for sure, between walking in on someone after they gave me a occupied room and the dog barking at midnight I was done and do u think they did anything to make it right? No. Also the pictures are nothing like the hotel don't be fooled. Hope your stay is better then mine.

  • Robert Thomspon

The hotel has poor curb appeal but the rooms have been upgraded. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was ok. My only complaint is the noisy fans that ran constantly on the roof and the concession machines were not operational. Machines were out of order for the 5 days I spent there.

  • Tyler Erskine

The bed was uncomfortable, too hard and I like a hard bed. The room was clean but you can see the age in the walls. Mouldings pulling away in the bathroom, 20$ dog fee. The breakfast is very well done. The waffle maker is great, if there wasn't a line I would have had 2 for sure.

  • Anna Michrina

Nothing special, but the price was right, and the service was good. The breakfast was nothing more than okay, with a lack of choices, but enough to get your day going. Would stay again for the price.

Decent price during the week. Hot tub was 87 degs Fahrenheit so not really a hot tub, but they were looking into fixing it while I was in there. Continental breakfast was good but not over the top. Wouldn't pay more than $100CDN to stay here. Clean rooms, friendly staff.

  • Schevann A

Nice rooms. Excellent staff. For the price its great. I would give it 4.5 stars but it doesn't do that. So it loses half star for the 20 minutes it took for the water to get warm in the morning when I needed to get going. But other then that everything else was great

  • imModders

Very sketchy exterior. Sketchy people in parking lots. And no where to park in the parking lots. Photos make this place look amazing but unfortunately it is nowhere close to the quality of the photos. Overall I’m disappointed with my choosing... Wouldn’t recommend

Very clean, great people at the front desk, good variety for breakfast and the shampoo and everything was pretty decent quality! The beds are pretty soft and squeaky..atleast in our room but the pillows were great, not too soft or too hard! I'd stay again!!

  • Tanner Oviatt

Location is good, and the rooms are good, ours had hard flooring, not carpet but thats such a little detail. ultimately we had a great stay after our initial issues were addressed. great friendly staff who want to help you have the best stay possible!

  • Sherry Krulicki

Checked in. Unpacked. Found bed bugs immediately. Called front desk. They came up. Agreed. Said they would move us to a different room. We declined. We just wanted to leave. They promised not to charge us. They didn't. Still....bed bugs. Yuck.

  • Arthur

It’s an inexpensive place to stay! My room was clean and the staff were friendly and upbeat. No issues with booking extra days. Close to convenience stores and gas station. Just a few steps away from pubs and burger joints. You couldn’t ask

Our room was okay but washroom was dirty, Water not flowing in the bath tub, basin had a dirty brown ring. Entrance was clean but entrance on the floor where our room was had dirty marks. Breakfast wasn't great either. Staff were pleasant.

Clean rooms, really nice housekeeping ladies, everytime I saw one they greeted me it was nice. The pool is big compared to other places. The gym isn't the best, they only have 3 machines, but it's okay cause I didn't use it.

Overall, it's a fine place to stay. Service is friendly and pretty quick. The rooms have stained carpet and a tiny fridge. It can be loud, as the rooms face on to the parking lot and there isn't much insulation between them.

This is a very good hotel for the amenities, cleanliness and ambience. Free breakfast and updated rooms with central air, no window ac units (yay)! If you are not comfortable here then you live in an alternate reality.

I was there for one night. The room is comfortable. Their breakfast is good and filling. The stuff are very friendly. And the price is affordable. Long walking distance to the C-Train station

Grest service. Readied my room early and when I arrived with a baby they moved us to the main floor as there's no elevator. Very prompt. Not the fanciest hotel but perfect for the money.

This is a kind of motel, with free parking outside, clean room, free breakfast, but the bf has little choice of food. OK for a stopover.

  • Ashlin Malik

Rough on the outside but pretty decent looking rooms on the inside. Not as much variety for breakfast as other hotels I've stayed at.

  • Holly S

Good comfortable bed. Clean room. Noises all during the night though. Half frozen hard boiled eggs at the continental breakfast.

  • Tanya Blouin

Beds seemed soft and clean. Set up was strange with the bathroom sink outside the bathroom. Hardwood floors needed to be mopped.

  • Richard Bell

The room was very clean, breakfast was good, the front desk staff were awesome and it wasn't very expensive. I'd stay again.

  • Dusty Sauder

For the price it can't be beat. Excellent pool. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit dated. And most importantly there are waffles.

  • JK Cosgrove

Great budget hotel, very clean and the beds were pretty comfy. Breakfast is basic but still a nice addition for the cost.

  • Ben Sagle

Not too bad for economy. Rooms are touch-and-go.. nice bathrooms, shoddy furniture. Terrible Continental Breakfast. 5/10

  • Rich Tason

Clean rooms, reasonable prices, no elevators but short stair walkups to the second floor if that is where they place you

  • Peter Oostlander

Excelkent location, quiet room with king bed and recently updated. Breakfast was okay. Good value for the price.

Surprised me on how nice it was. King bed was a little slumpy. Also bathroom could've had a bit more upkeep

The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the included breakfast was very good! Great for the price!
