When I first started at movati I really liked it but it has become progressively worse and more busy. I will not be renewing my membership. I find the staff both at the front desk as well as the staff upstairs not very friendly or accommodating with the exception of a few individuals . There is hardly any areas to stretch or do core work at this location, they have no mat area and the only area that was available they converted to squat racks, which is nice but there is legitimately no area to do core. Cleanliness has gone downhill, the women’s change room bathroom is always gross and wet. The personal trainers hog equipment and render machines unusable so that their clients don’t have to wait. This despite the fact they have an entire training room that sits empty and for some reason can’t be used by personal trainers?! Makes 0 sense the fact they have a training room which sits empty almost all the time. Basically if you aren’t one of the personal trainers clients they treat you like dirt, the personal trainer names “Wes” is extremely rude and hogs equipment. Unless you are only going to the gym for the classes it is extremely overpriced and not worth it. Essentially like an overpriced GoodLife. Lifetime fitness has way more options and is much less busy, and costs only a little more. I think many staff members need customer service training and they need to rearrange the gym itself. They have an excessive amount of bikes and treadmills which are never used and 0 space for abs. Won’t be signing back up!
I've had an extremely disappointing experience at Movati Athletics. Firstly, finding parking at night is next to impossible, as their lot is always full. Once inside, the overcrowded space makes for an uncomfortable workout environment. To make matters worse, a lot of the equipment is out of order and remains unfixed for extended periods. The daycare service, which was a major convenience for many, has been permanently closed, causing significant inconvenience for parents. It seems like the management has little interest in member satisfaction or feedback. They appear to be more focused on profit, often neglecting the needs and concerns of their members. The management style is also a cause for concern. There have been instances of members feeling bullied and even reports of body-shaming towards instructors. This toxic atmosphere is perpetuated by a management team that often seems unprepared and disorganized. A recent decision by the new manager, Natalie, exemplifies this disregard for member preferences. She altered the schedule of a popular spin class without considering the feedback of members. Despite a petition signed by 62 members to reinstate the class, their requests were blatantly ignored. With a membership base of around 9000, one would expect a higher standard of service and care. However, it appears that Movati Athletics has severely missed the mark in this regard, prioritizing profit over the well-being and satisfaction of its members.
I just started my membership here and wanted to say thank you to all the staff that helped me decide on what to go with. Brooke was super helpful over the phone, her kindness and patience with all my questions confirmed I wanted to go in to get my membership. Malcolm was the one who got me setup, I really appreciate how he took an hour of his time to answer all my questions and ensure I was getting the best plan for my needs. They didn’t not push anything onto me which I really appreciated, because most gyms try to push the most expensive membership on you. He took me for a tour around the gym and answered all my questions about the machines, the classes, the amenities. And lastly Sajia was the trainer I saw for my free consultation. She kindly guided me through all the steps I needed to take to improve my mobility and my general health. She was very sweet and understanding, I didn’t feel any judgement at all. I really appreciate all the staff here, they make you feel at home and have a lot of patience & care for your needs. Definitely going to refer some people to this gym, 10/10 experience in just my first couple of days!
Would give 0 stars if I could. Complaints go unaddressed. It takes weeks to fix anything here, including an elevator, so accessibility for their customers are not a priority. There are hairballs everywhere, no wipes, bathroom floors are always wet and no one re-racks their weights. No parking and there are cars that take up 3 parking spots. The staff are notified and don't page the driver. So overcrowded, not enough equipment (1 smith machine), and the front desk staff give you attitude when you don't wait to scan in. If you want people to wait until its closed before they scan in then stop changing it. You never know when they leave the gate open or you're supposed to wait for it to close. Is this some sort of game to you? Also heard many people talking about a manager named Nathalie body shaming her own staff. Unprofessionalism and childish behaviour is the standard for Movati Staff. Why are the kids working at the mall more respectful and care more about customer service than the staff at this "high-end gym"? Where are the membership fees going to? Not to pay cleaning staff, I'll tell you that.
The 3 stars is for the staff and the staff only. Everyone who works at the front desk are always so sweet and welcoming. The main reason I joined a more “luxury” gym is to have access to classes - mainly spin, and the instructors Alex, Mayram, and Ceara are beyond incredible. Not only are they super nice and always make you feel comfortable, they provide a great workout every time. It is sad, however, that the biggest negative is the management. I have heard horror stories about management genuinely not caring about people’s concerns and even being mean to their own staff with no consequences (ironic since their staff is the only good thing here). The gym is beyond crowded all the time with only one leg press, and a small weight rack. Would appreciate less treadmills and some new equipment instead The gym IS nice, sure, but I been feeling sour coming here every day knowing the people in management do not care about their own staff, instructors, or members’ concerns. I don’t think it’s worth the price unless you are someone who takes a lot of classes like myself
Upon arrival at the gym 4 to 5 times a week the front desk staff are always very pleasant regardless of who is at the front desk, Eva, is the usual smiling face I see, motivating everyone “enjoy your workout,,,” with the greetings. the cleaning staff in particular Amajit in the women change room is always very detail attentive to our well-being ensuring the floors are always dry after one of the members would walk in from the pool with all of the clothing I see her always, ensuring it’s a safe & clean space for everyone. Thank you Amajit,,, My personal trainer Adrianna is a true gem. She brings out the best of me. She knows my strength, and without realizing it, I begin to know my strength. I recently got my results for my yearly physical from my doctor, and the report was the best I had in many years. I contribute this result to my personal training,. I feel stronger and motivated to get to my new set of goals.
I was a member here for over 2 years. I had the upgrade membership where you could freeze but I never used it. I was unable to come and workout because they closed the daycare. When I told them why I needed to cancel they told me that I needed to come in person to cancel. When I finally came in person they told me they are going to charge me 2 more times even though I said I can’t come in due to childcare limitations. I honestly would’ve just expected better customer service because this place is closer to my house. I don’t think it’s fair to charge someone who is unable to use the facilities. The whole reason I joined was because they have childcare. If they would have reopened the daycare in the future I would have came back if they didn’t charge me extra. I’m outside my contract so it’s just confusing why I’m going to be billed 2 more times and just seems really greedy. Just be careful everyone when you want to cancel do it asap!!!
Opened my membership here earlier this month and let me just say I am so mad I didn’t do it sooner!!!!. I got the pleasure of being served by Derwin. He was so kind and very knowledgable when it came to the gym equipment, classes and membership benefits. Not to mention he has checked up on me countless times when I come in to make sure I’m okay and have everything I need. Coming from a gym where the staff was very rude and not helpful. I’m very pleased to say Movati staff is top-tier babe!!!! From the women in the change room, the class instructors (Eric) and even down to the people at the front desk. I truly love it here!!!!! I feel so comfortable And that is extremely important to me considering I am new to the gym. I started going earlier this year and I am so happy I found my home at Movati!!!! If you ever book, do it with Derwin, he’s the best & will make you feel like a very valued client!!!!
A little confused at the reviews about the parking situation, to me…the parking lot is very spacious and I never have any issues when I arrive. I’ve also reached during peak hours, and still no issues finding a spot. Overall the gym is clean and the clientele is respectful. There are so many classes to choose from, I absolutely love hot yoga sessions and each instructor has been amazing. Cafe/smoothie bar has various choices and great to have after a workout. A few things this gym can approve on is more equipment in both the co-ed side and the woman’s area. I also think for a “luxury” gym there should be a relaxation/recovery zone like how GoodLife has. Massage chairs etc, would make this place perfect. Hoping there will be some new additions in the new year, overall I do love my experience here and recommend this gym others.
5-Star Review for this location! My experience so far has been phenomenal! Shout out to both Morgan and Julian for great customer service and always being there to greet you when you walk in. Both are professional, courteous, and very friendly. Morgan made the sign-up process seamless and was thorough in all the agreement details. She answered all my questions and gave a tour of the facility. 3 weeks into my membership and I am loving every day of it! Great fitness equipment and club amenities! I switched over from another gym and am so glad I did! Locker rooms are always clean. The pool is crystal clear! Gym equipment is always clean and members are respectful to each other and wipe down all equipment after use. They have punching bags, suspension training, CrossFit type equipment great for HIIT, and much more.
Big shout out to Sajia K for recommending this place. It’s SO MUCH MORE than your average gym! Due to privacy reasons I couldn’t take pics of the interior as there were a lot of people there and my goal was to workout! TONS of room, tons of equipment, and the people here actually keep the place organized PEOPLE ACTUALLY PUT AWAY THEIR WEIGHTS! not an over-crowded gym. Equipment is very new. THEY HAVE A PENDULUM SQUAT MACHINE!! Felt amazing! I love the separation between workout areas and I can’t get enough of the cleanliness. Staff here was ultra friendly from the moment I entered until the moment I left. Food/ juice bar is open until 11:30pm! I got an amazing berry protein shake. I would’ve given more stars if possible
I’ve been a member since 2019 and I really love it. Of all the gyms I’ve been a member of this one is far superior. The facility is great, plenty of machines and the classes offered are diverse and easy to sign up. I recently did a spin class with Maryam and even though I was terrified to join in but she made me feel so comfortable and her energy is contagious, I enjoyed myself and learned a lot. I also attended a hot yoga class with Angie and she’s awesome and very supportive. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone who wants to advance their fitness journey in a positive and supportive environment. Everyone I have encountered are super wicked and I’m grateful for everyone. Join Movati, you won’t regret it ✨
Went in today with my sister to get a tour of the gym and the amenities they have to offer. I would like to first give a huge thank you to Malcolm for giving us a great tour and showing us all the things that the gym has to offer. Movati has a HUGE selection of classes that they offer that is included in your membership fee. They also have a nice playground area and designated pool time for kids and families. My sister was very fond of the Women only area of the gym because it offered everything that the gym has with to offer and more. Highly recommend this gym for people looking for a clean, safe, and overall well maintained gym. Thank you again to Malcolm and the Movati team for making our visit special.
Movati is definitely an upgrade from the gyms I am use to. Them naming themselves a club is the true definition of what it really is. I signed up over a month ago with the great help from Malcolm who definitely related and listened to everything I said. It’s nice to go in before work and have a nice run on the treadmill and not have to worry about there not being enough machines. I love how large the woman’s section is - after being constantly looked at from my previous gyms and being uncomfortable from the past, Movati has helped me boost my confidence while working out in the only girls section and also being able to go swimming there and feeling comfortable. This gym is fully Judge Free.
Staff do not enforce the rules to make the gym a welcoming and comfortable space. I particularly take issue with use of the sauna - I’ve encountered individuals violating sauna rules a number of times (full frontal nudity, excessive talking, individuals scrolling on social media with their phones on full volume etc.) and despite reporting to staff nothing is done. Others have also complained but it seems that staff are sparing the feelings of few of their members instead of prioritizing the collective despite the pricey cost of membership. I’ve been a member over a year and I’m just very disappointed in the way staff have handled these complaints.
Visited the gym to check it out. It's a newer built gym, high end with a lot of equipment including option to use body weight. The cardio section is huge as well as weight training. Weight training area was very busy, almost fully occupied and cardio was hardly being used. They have most options like daily group classes, yoga, Pilates, cycling, etc. Select membership which $10 biweekly more than Classic membership adds towel service. There is a limit of 2 towels during each visit and towels are handed over at the front desk, that's how they control giving out towels based on membership type.
Josiah consistently exudes a positive and welcoming demeanor, which greatly enhances my gym experience. His professionalism, coupled with his courteous approach, creates an atmosphere that distinguishes the gym as more than just a fitness facility—it feels like a community. Josiah's commitment to understanding each individual fosters a sense of belonging. I confidently recommend him to anyone considering a gym membership, as he goes above and beyond to motivate and ensure a positive journey towards self-improvement. Grateful for the warm reception and encouragement provided by Josiah.
I love this gym. The staff is so friendly and you can tell they have a genuine concern for members, consistently going the extra mile. Recent renovations have significantly enhanced the facility's aesthetics and functionality. The overall atmosphere is notably positive, creating a welcoming environment. I’ve noticed the maintenance and cleaning staff promptly attend to any equipment or facility requirements. I’ve always had an excellent workout experience and a sense of community when going here. I highly recommend this gym for anyone looking to join!!
This gym is a zoo. Overcrowded and it's like they don't care about cleanliness. The water wasn't working the other day and then the parking lot lights weren't working. Management also condones body shaming. Natalie who is a manager outright body shamed an instructor and when the general manager Andrew got involved, he did nothing but support her. They condone age discrimination and quite frankly it's disgusting. She hasn't even been a manager for long but I'm sure this isn't the first time and it won't be the last.
Extremely shocked and disappointed to learn that one of the best fitness instructors was fired for ridiculous made up reasons. the new managment has no respect or care towards members and their opinion, nor to the connection and bond they have with instructors. Movati is no longer a club it is just a nother gym it is loosing what made Movati especial. I've been a member for 3 years it's going downhill in the last few months from all aspects starting with service, parking is impossible, pool and changing rooms.
I’ve been a long time member here and no matter who is working the staff is friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, always ready to offer guidance. What sets this place apart is its attention to cleanliness; the facilities are very well maintained. It's refreshing to see a gym that takes hygiene seriously. I find it gets busy during rush hour times but apart from that I never have any problems getting into classes or finding machines/equipment. One of the better, if not the best option in Mississauga.
Movati has the best trainer in the business. Wes has been my trainer for over a year and I cannot lie. He has whooped my butt into shape. With his amazing knowledge and understanding when it comes to fitness paired with his social skills and his ability to adapt and create a warm welcoming environment each and every time I step into the gym. If you’re looking for an amazing trainer to get you started on your fitness journey Wes Van Hart is just that.
This is a great gym that offers multiple classes to suit your needs. The only way to know if you will like a class is to try it! Trust me you will find what works for you. The change rooms and showers are clean, stocked, and spacious. MOVATI: I would suggest 8 am time slots for morning classes such as intervals and tabata to improve member service. Currently only Friday offers an 8:15 (considering weekdays).
This is the best gym I have ever been to. The fitness class instructors are amazing. My favourite instructors are Natalie N, Elizabeth M, Sofia, Jen G, Nanette, Alexandra and Matthew B! Their classes are amazing and they keep you engaged the entire class. The gym is very well maintained. In the women's changeroom anytime Amarjit is working the women's changeroom is very well maintained.
My best friend and I have belonged to many clubs over the years. Movati is absolutely top notch. From trainers to Yoga teachers their staff is outstanding. Our custodian for the women's area (Amarjit) is fantastic. The place is always spotless. If you are looking for a club that has it all - You will want to join Movati Athletic - Best club I have ever belonged to. Joanne
Amazing and clean facility! There’s a lot of great classes offered. In particular, classes offered by Alexandra R are the best! I love her powerbell and kettlebell intervals class. She’s an amazing instructor that pushes you to do your best. I’ve never had an instructor that motivating before! I really want to see more classes offered by her.
I joined Movati to be able to continue my hot yoga practice and I am very happy with my decision. Lara Sacks has delivered a top level yoga experience in a beautiful hot yoga studio which is just a small part of this Movati health club membership. I am totally inspired to continue my fitness journey with the help of these people.
Great club that all my family and friends love frequenting. Top notch facility, classes and equipment. Awesome classes from Sandra, Alyssa, Kendra encourage me to try more ⭐️ Ava and Breanne’s positivity at 6 in the morning definitely makes AM workouts more bearable - thank you guys for starting our day on a positive note!
The Movtai initially impressed me with its facilities and workouts, offering an amazing experience. However, my enthusiasm waned due to the disappointing behavior of the managers and supervisors, who were exceedingly rude. Additionally, the gym lacks various amenities, which affected my overall satisfaction with the place.
Been coming to Movati on and off for a couple of years but my experience has always been delightful. I had my first game plan appointment today with April and she was absolutely amazing. She answered my questions with patience and addressed
Terrible gym. Very unhygienic. Overcrowded. Management does not seem to care anymore. This gym has peaked and is now at the phase where it’s just like any other gym. Expensive, cheat you out of your money. Front desk knows nothing and the
Joined Movati almost 2 months now, the gym is great and is always well maintained. They give you a full free tour before joining and explain everything! My personal trainer christian, made this experience even better with guiding me thru
Matthew Lee is an exceptional personal trainer, combining extensive knowledge with a personalized approach to workouts. He starts from scratch, ensuring a strong foundation for success. Beyond the physical gains, Matt's engaging sessions
Overcrowded, on multiple occasions the facility was packed to the point of discomfort, making it nearly impossible to access equipment or move freely. The number of people exceeding the space's capacity, resulting in long wait times for
Shout out to Jennifer, she is 5 star instructor! Plz go check her classes out! She is awesome. Great other instructors in this gym as well. 4 stars for the gym because there are not enough hand weights for everyone if the class is full.
I’ve always wanted to try some aqua fitness and I did! It was awesome thanks to a great instructor Marie Helene. I am now a regular in her classes. She is full of energy and a great motivator. I highly recommend he classes
I opened the Movati app and it asked me “How was your last visit to Movati?” Oh let me tell you here since no one responds to whatever you say when you complain to the app anyways.
Been extremely disappointed in Movati's decision to change a recent class, without considering or polling the members of those classes. 62 members of the group were very upset.
Notice the 5 star reviews that are saying the opposite of all the 1 stars? 5 star reviews in exchange for the chance to win $100 is what Movati is peddling.
This gym is overcrowded now. So there’s no parking, not enough staff to maintain bathrooms, equipment is often broken and no one re racks the weights.
